301  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Qora | Released 16 May | 100% POS | New Source on: September 06, 2014, 07:15:30 AM
Any objective reason for the recent price increase?

Is there a whitepaper or anything about how the POS works and what makes it different from e.g. NXT's POS?

I think there are a few reasons playing off of one another.  First, as has been the case, this isn't a clone of another coin.  IMHO, that does give some validity to the project.  Next, trading has been very slow for a while and before that we saw a lot of bored/weak hands dump their stakes they purchased in the IPO.  This means that the overwhelming amount of Qora holders are doing just that, holding or continuing to slowly buy.  In other words, the market has seemed to stagnante at the bottom and we are about to see another MASSIVE wave of investment or dumping (if tradional market analysis holds true.)

Third, consider that Qora's internal Asset Exchange is about to cut on in a few days, which is a benefit.  I've not verified, but from what I've heard QORA will be the only crypto with a built-in dividend payment system.  I've used NXT for a long time and I own quite a few assets.  Paying dividends has been a huge hassle for many of the asset managers because the payment process is 100% manual.

I think all of these factors must be taken into account.  Many worthless coins have seen better marketcap than QORA recently, but Qora (the dev) has steadily worked on this project.  If he continues to release features within QORA that exist elsewhere, but slowly innovates a better implementation, this coin can only remain silent for so long.

People will start to notice and it will inevitably take off.

The risk factors of investing in QORA are that the code is (not yet) open source.  But, I'm always quick to point out that this thing is written in Java.  If you have dev background at all, it's easy-peasy to decompile and inspect.  The other risk factor (IMHO) is that since Qora is anonymous and is the sole dev, if he were to *disappear*, then the coin would slowly die as well because the community isn't yet mature enough to dig into the Java modules, extract and figure out the java code, and further manage the project.

In a nutshell, that is about as "objective" as I can be.  These are my opinions but I've tries to base that off of emotionless investment and keen observation.  QORA is currently a hedge for me which I hope pays off.  I highly suspect it will but it might take some time to pick up steam.

Good post!

NXT is a great hedge for bitcoin, and Qora is a great hedge for NXT. If you own some of all three, then your chances of doing well increase.

Is this the final offering, or will there be a second coming for 'jesus?

Flowcontrol needs some more adjustments. We are working on it. open beta test will be delayed to tomorrow night probably therefore.
Meanwhile tests on xp, vista, 7 and 8 were successfull. We are preparing the builds for linux and osx as well.

have a good night

Waited this long, I can wait another day or so! I still think eXo will be big, have you contacted jl777 about joining the SuperNET?

what is the current block?
306  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Syscoin - Business on the Blockchain - LAUNCHED! on: August 17, 2014, 05:02:51 AM
Problems

1. wallet diddnt sync off the bat, not allowing me as an investor to sell during the prime time, missed it. price back at IPO price.

2. Aliases, broken, comes up with error when creating a new one

3. Storage button does not work, irrelevant button, take you to aliases.

4. marketplaces is hardly amazing, single line, yet to see it functional, added an item, not showing up on any of friends computers.
so basically this is another shitcoin that does nothing, except for one large difference, devs are rolling in a large pile of cashhh money.
i really hope mollah tests the wallets function 100% before handing over the BTC.

1. I added alias successfully, without Name(Address of alias), and it took me 5k SYS without notification. Right now I cant even edit it. But I can see other aliases created by someone else. Search button broken too.

EDIT: Other aliases shown, but I had to restart the wallet to make it happen. Maybe add a refresh button? Can't transfer btw

2. Data tab shows the same as Aliases tab.

3. Only my offers shows on All offers tab.

EDIT: Other offers shown, same thing as point 1, refresh button please

4. Certificate issuers doesnt work(typed Lable and Cert, clicked OK, nothing happened), and Certificate Issuers tab shows the same as Certificates tab.

TBH I'm a bit disappointed so far, please fix it ASAP.

I'm glad Moolah has such a good reputation as an escrow service. The promises to the investors were not met. I hope they outline a plan to get out BTC back.

SYS still got my back, but my point is it's not a project that collected 1500 BTC ICO supposed to be...

Going to reply to this one later. Sorry but tired and need some sleep at this stage. The QT-Wallet was never meant to be used as THE interface for syscoin services/commands..

That's ok, take you time.

So your point is that SYS will have another interface(web?) other than QT-wallet to run services? Then that would make more sense cos this interface right now is totally broken

Can you confirm procedure & cost to register an alias?
307  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Syscoin - Business on the Blockchain - LAUNCHED! on: August 17, 2014, 04:39:20 AM
Motherfucker, I blew 1/4 of my syscoin creating an alias that gave me no warning it would take that much to make. Good job dev......

How much does it cost to register an alias?

procedure to do it is?
308  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: The Cypherfunks[FUNK]: a coin for a global band! Talking v2. Join! 80+ songs on: August 07, 2014, 08:21:12 AM
Hey, Good to see you guys are still moving forward. I think you're willingness to re-examine the economics of this coin is very encouraging.

I made a few suggestions back in April about community/complementary/local currencies & considering an option of creating a 'fund' through burning FUNK into another coin that would give you the ability to actually pay the people contributing the music, rather than relying on the goodwill of the end user to pay in FUNK (rather than any of a number of other currencies & crypto coins). Maybe you could review those suggestions again.

IMO unless there is a clear linkage between the FUNK currency & the Cypherfunk music you've really got two separate projects, when what you really want is a complete decentralised music ecosystem with inbuilt incentives that promotes supply & demand for music paid for in FUNK.

Maybe look at what some NXT guys are planning to do with their digital goods store - https://nxtforum.org/digital-goods-store/bands-and-music/

In their case the linkage between the music and the currency is clear, you will HAVE to pay for the music with NXT currency.

You guys need to create the same 'compulsion' effect in your ecosystem - the only way to pay for Cypherfunk music is using FUNK.

Without that 'requirement' the consumer has no clear incentive to get their hands on any FUNK. If you devise a system where paying in FUNK2 is compulsory, either through a centralised funding body (that was one of my suggestions in April), or by using a decentralised tech solution like the NXT guys are building, then you instantly create demand for FUNK2 which is proportional to the demand for Cypherfunk music.

Either way, without some compulsion in the Cypherfunk/FUNK ecosystem that forces people to pay for the music with FUNK I think it'll be hard to get FUNK2 off the ground.

If FUNK2 is partially PoS then maybe keep a big chunk for the central fund that pays the musicians for the uploads, and let the consumers download free, or force them to pay FUNK2 through your distribution channel. If that's too centralised for your community, then you need a decentralised tech solution like the NXT guys.

Anyway, I love the music, and wish you well Smiley

Ok guys, working on installing chat into wallet now.
If anyone has any development (C++) experience feel free to contact me. There are plenty of features we'd like to implement and the more help we get the faster we can make this coin amazing  Grin
Also looking for web developers to help create services for our community.
Lots of bounty coins to be had in exchange for your time and effort!

Oh wow you are relentless aren't you  Tongue Just finished work on the wallet and already looking at adding new features. Granted chat would be pretty cool  Roll Eyes
I have a good feeling about this coin. I think it's going to be a freaking amazing coin that everyone will want to have a piece of  Grin
Thanks for all the time and effort you're putting into this. You're the man!!!  Cool

Thanks for the kind words ObscureBean!
I am definitely trying to set this coin apart from the 1-pager, copy/paste clones out there.
I'm very tired of seeing new coin ANN's and thinking "is this really the best we can do?".
So far we have done a pretty good job I think, but there is still a lot more to do.

We don't have the development support in place yet, but as we grow and our coin is listed on exchanges we will be able to use our developer bounty funds to pay for whatever we may need to get us to the point where we can sustain ourselves without relying on those bounty funds. I've been receiving many messages from web developers about creating sites/services for our community as well as a couple inquiries from programmers about contributing to coin development. It is difficult for me because they want to know what the bounties would be and at this time its hard to specify a set amount for bounties. If I was to set an arbitrary number we would risk under- (or over-) compensating them.  Undecided

The entire process is tricky because everything we do needs to be carefully considered and projected, or we won't be much better than the rest of the under-thought and under-planned projects out there.

Great work TheMightyX!!

Monero is different from Bytecoin. It's code has been optimized.

Bytecoin also had a 80%+ premine....Monero has no premine, and no instamine.

Exactly, monero is bytecoin without the baggage!
320  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [MNT] MountCoin on: June 19, 2014, 11:04:33 PM
Is this coin the same as Horizon, or is it the original MountCoin? I'm confused. I bought some of the original MountCoin, so I'm hoping they're still worth something

Original [MNT] Mountcoin + fixes. I'm not affiliated in anyway with the previous dev(s) of [MNT] mountcoin or Horizon. I'm trying to fix the mess they made.

First thing on the agenda is getting the previous healthy network hash rate back (DIFF increased x2 today) and getting the public block explorer website online.

Ok, excellent news!! Thanks so much Smiley
