With the amount of hacking going on these days, it does not seem safe to do so. If anyone gets into their database of photo IDs (even without accessing anything else), it would cause an inconceivable amount of identity theft.
Are there providers that do not require a photo ID?
Actually it is safe. I had coins.ph wallet (Philippines) same with coinbase that requires also a government issued ID aside from phone and address verification. That is an identity verification together with a Selfie Verification. In this case, the company will truly know that account is yours and you are not making a dummy account. Well, its been almost a year since I've sent them my Photo ID and I haven't encountered problem yet. |
