221  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Important Bitcoin & Cryptocurrency Developments This Past Week on: May 13, 2019, 08:10:50 AM
3. Facebook reverses crypto ban which is actually expected by the many as this industry can be a good source of revenues too.
this is the worst thing that could have happened unless they have found a way to properly disallow scam advertisements since nearly all  of the ads on their platform regarding cryptocurrencies were advertising scams one way or another. from malicious software like fake wallets to ICO scams.

4. Bitmain loses 88% hashing power
any proof for this? I see the same percentages as before.

6. Microsoft deploys public ETHchain
I don't know what you mean by this but what Microsoft added was some functionality to write smart contracts in their Azure platform. there was no "chain"!
222  Economy / Speculation / Re: This is getting a bit out of hand.... on: May 13, 2019, 07:49:37 AM
lets not forget that the $17000 (85%) drop was the "pull back", not to mention that the last nearly 50% drop from $6k was the biggest and most unexpected pull back that we had. now we are just "correcting" that wrong pull back so the price is expected to rise like this and look out of hand.
but the truth is, there has been a big sum of money waiting on the sidelines to come back in, all those who sold due to the manipulation have been waiting for this rising signal to jump in and now they are doing it with as much speed that they can considering transfer of money from their banks to exchanges and buying takes time.
223  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could this pump be attributed to Justin Sun or Binance? on: May 13, 2019, 07:40:20 AM
Coincidentally it appears that most of this btc is being bought with tether indeed.
do you have any proof for this guess of yours?
because all the data we have is the trading volume of Tether and there has not been any irregular change in that. we have an increased volume which is normal in times of a price rise which you can verify by looking at the charts!
then comparing that volume with USD and other fiat volumes you can clearly see that the Tether volume is very small in comparison.

Because of the way the price went up in bits and not all at once. My theory is that they are buying little bits with pauses in between, hoping for a reaction from those who bought say in the 3-5 thousand range want to take profits so they can buy cheaper.
again, take a look at charts sometime. that is how price rises after breaking out. it is not "waiting" it is the day traders cashing out because of their panic and the trend that they have been used to. in other words for months they bought bitcoin at a certain price and sold after X% profit. now price is rising more than X% but they still panic and sell at X% or a small amount above it and that causes small corrections and slowness in the overall rise.
224  Economy / Speculation / Re: Little dip in bitcoin market, will it be recovered reach 10k on: May 13, 2019, 07:14:56 AM
the answer depends on why you want to sell some coins!
if it is as a trading decision to take out profit and continue trading after buying the dip then it makes sense to sell right now which means you should have sold above $7k and bought back after the drop within $6k range. and since this drop you mentioned was a simple correction, this strategy makes perfect sense and has a good profit in it.
but if it was to sell since you saw the rise then it is way too soon to sell because the rise is just starting. there is no way I can tell you when we are going to reach $10k but it can say for sure that the rise is at the beginning of it and this drop and the similar drops that we will see after each rise are just corrections.
225  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Even former bears are switching sides on: May 13, 2019, 07:02:59 AM
in bitcoin market like any other market we have both "bull" runs and "bear" runs so if anybody stays in one mode forever that only shows that they have little understanding of the market! as the trends change so must the traders attitude towards the market. for example if you tried to be a bear in 2017, shorted bitcoin, sold,... then you would have gone bankrupt. similarly if you tried to be a bull in 2018, bought bitcoin,... you would have gone bankrupt of course the different in this case would be since bitcoin rises eventually you could continue to hold and make the profit eventually when price goes to something like $50k!

with that said, the guys OP is quoting are just idiots pretending to be "market experts" for attention and to milk newbies for their money without even investing anything themselves.
226  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Old Android Phone as Wallet on: May 13, 2019, 06:54:42 AM
if you are going to choose between a web wallet (blockchain.com) and an old phone then obviously the old phone wins but it is not really a good idea to use that as a bitcoin wallet in my opinion, phone wallets are less used and have so few features and sometimes they are not as secure as the desktop versions.

as for Ledger wallet, it is a good wallet if you are ok with paying that much for a bitcoin wallet! and also if you have large funds which you want to store and also regularly access. otherwise I would go with traditional cold storage options such as a paper wallet if it is large and for long term storage.
you should also remember that every single method of storage will have both advantages and disadvantages. there is no one perfect solution. you must study each and even try each method and see which one is best for your individual situation.
227  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is going on? on: May 12, 2019, 01:03:23 PM
Stable coins are being dispensed into the market. Tether and other stable Coins have been a safe haven for trader in the bearish market. Everywhere you look now is bullish I think its a normal phenomenon to dump it for bitcoin now

first of all if you dump an stable coin for bitcoin, its price will NOT reduce against USD and that is what OP is looking at.
secondly Tether and others have never been "safe haven" for traders. specially lately that the shadiness of Bitfinex has been becoming more apparent to people and the risks were showing themselves. if anything people are dumping their altcoin bags to come to bitcoin since the altcoin prices are decreasing against bitcoin.
228  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Recent Bitcoin Volatility due to Binance Hack ? Market Manipulation on: May 12, 2019, 12:35:17 PM
in case you missed it, Binance is an altcoin exchange not a bitcoin exchange. so your topic doesn't even make sense! you talk about hacker gaining access to people API (which is not correct by the way) and then manipulating the market but then talk about bitcoin price moving up $500! not to mention that a $500 rise or more precisely a 7% rise is not a big deal at all. it is one of the most common percentage rises that bitcoin has specially when it is coming out of a long downtrend and prior manipulation keeping the price down.
229  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: decisions of traders and investors on: May 12, 2019, 11:59:53 AM
well last time something like this happened was with Bittrex which wasn't a hack but the exchange scamming its users themselves! and by that time they were the biggest exchange on number one rank. Binance was around and was trying to gain users with their referral systems, that scam led to all users migrating to Binance and that helped them grow.
this time I don't know any new exchange trying to grow since I have been away from trading for a while, so if there is any one that would surely see a surge of volume with this hack.
230  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BitiLeaks reveals the identity of Satoshi! Also takes aim at Craig Wright! on: May 12, 2019, 11:48:13 AM
just because they are stating the obvious about Craig Wright being a scammer and are telling us what we already knew (he is not Satoshi) it doesn't mean everything else they say is automatically correct. they still have no idea who the real Satoshi Nakamoto is and are only theorycrafting while trying to make it look like a legitimate revelation! in my opinion their attempt is no less fraudulent than what CSW is doing.
231  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Guide to A Newbie Trader on: May 11, 2019, 02:31:24 PM
Do they ever work in crypto? I mean newbies trade trash tokens with a market cap below $5m and they plan of making money with technical analysis, seriously? Even Bitcoin can be considered as a low market cap asset now.

having a low market cap is not the reason why trading those tokens is a bad idea. the fact that they are purely pump and dump coins makes trading them a bad idea specially for a newbie who is not yet familiar with trading or with the market itself.
otherwise if these coins weren't 100% manipulated they could have been good choices. but now you only have to know how to go around pumpers and make your profit before they cash out (aka dump) otherwise you get stuck.
232  Economy / Speculation / Re: sec consider new bitcoin and ethereum ETF on: May 11, 2019, 02:02:50 PM
last time I heard about ethereum ETF on one of these news sites, it turned out to be a scam by the ETH pumpers trying to pump their bags of coin thinking if they pay the news sites to hype it in the news they can get some momentum out of it and get a nice pump. if I am not mistaken right after that "news" the price of it fell down from $500 to $380ish and they failed at their pump attempt. Cheesy
233  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin on the way to $10,000 on: May 11, 2019, 01:48:46 PM
bitcoin was on the way to $10000 last year when the bear market truly ended and it entered its accumulation phase. by that time price was in $6k range. then we took a detour due to some massive FUD campaign and whale manipulation in the market, that postponed that rise. now we are making up for lost time with the current rise. unfortunately people are slow to realize the rise which was officially started $3500 ago! it is not even 1-2 week past the time when we kept seeing negative topics here talking about how price should fall down to $1k!
234  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Idea needed for my situation on: May 11, 2019, 01:32:14 PM
you are not considering a couple of things!
Binance was recently hacked so they do not allow deposits and withdrawals yet (I think for another week it will remain like this). also that hack means BNB (their centralized token) is not having a good time as it is in dumping mode. so converting to that is not a good idea!

as for USDT I would always advise against it if you want to "remain in that coin". USDT is only good if you want to use it in a very short window otherwise if it is getting longer then either hold your bitcoin or convert it to real fiat (USD) instead.

as for the act of selling, it doesn't seem to be the wisest idea at this point that bitcoin price is rising!!! also holding an altcoin that is losing its value against bitcoin is not a good idea either.
235  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Update on Binance hack as per CZ on: May 11, 2019, 01:16:03 PM
CZ is supposed to say all those things in order to calm down the public. Grin
Anyway, reacting after the consequences is better than no reaction at all.
Despite all those security improvement announcements,I think that many noobs will refuse to join Binance and deposit their hard earned coins there.
I disagree. These hacks happen all the time. Lesser known exchanges which get affected by these hacks usually tend to disappear completely since no one would bother with them anymore while the popular ones like Binance will retain their user base and become even more popular since they are able to give back the stolen funds through SAFU fund etc.

smaller exchanges disappear because their business was small so they didn't have that much money to back things up and didn't have that many operations running. on the other hand a big exchange like Binance has multiple operations running so even if majority of their users leave they will continue earning money! for example they have already created a token out of thin air and have sold it to the public making millions out of it. that is not something a small exchange does or even can do!
236  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Fear and Greed Index on: May 11, 2019, 01:06:58 PM
"fear and greed" are not things that can be measured on a chart. you can draw a chart like this one after the fact meaning when it is already too late and the market has already changed its course but never when it matters which is when the investors are leading towards one or the other.
that is mainly because these things are being affected by all the things that are going on in the market at that time. for example in 2016 when Bitfinex was hacked the "fear" increased and the FUD helped that to crash the price about 30% IIRC. that was not something you could see on the chart but you can see it now that we are past it.
besides, market and its participants are not black and white to be able to be categorized like this.
237  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BITCOIN THE ONLY KING, NO DISPUTE on: May 11, 2019, 12:54:13 PM
BITCOIN THE ONLY KING, NO DISPUTE
wrong.
there is no "KING". you can only say that bitcoin is the best thing because of its features and the rest of the coins are garbage.

As the cryptocurrency general market cap attains $200B+,
that is a 100% meaningless number specially since it is the total market cap.

Quote
bitcoin maintains a lead of market dominance with 59.4% percentage,
as a result, this percentage is also meaningless. and it is not even "dominance". bitcoin's dominance is more than 99% which is obvious from the fact that when bitcoin rises everyone dumps their altcoins. it is obvious from adoption that bitcoin has and nothing else has any at all. it is obvious from the fact that people trade everything else with bitcoin (alt/btc and btc/alt).

Quote
falsehood coming from the Bitcoincash(BCH) and bitcoinSatoshiVision (BSV) community, both of which have failed to prove their claim in the market. I really feel sorry for BCH and BSV investors, kindly accept my unreserved sympathy for been misled to buying what is not the original bitcoin.
that is not new! many other shitcoins did the same. it is an advertisement done to pump that altcion and only those who know how to make profit from pumps will make profit and the rest lose money.

BTC to $7k in a moment and what next? Lambo is all I see, Viva bitcoin, let's party on.
don't get too excited just yet. not to mention that "price" is everything.
238  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Rising, Scams Rising on: May 11, 2019, 12:47:46 PM
increase in bitcoin price and increase in number of scams has very little to do with the value increase and "incentive" that it creates in my opinion. the only reason why the number of scams is rising is because there is an increase in the number of newcomers and that means a lot of new people who are entering an entirely new world that they don't fully understand either. many of them lack security or skills to learn security measures or they may even be too lazy to do it. the result is an increased number of easy targets which leads to more scammers being attracted and more scams happening as the result.
239  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New billionarie list if bitcoin exploded on: May 11, 2019, 12:36:24 PM
if I didn't know any better I would have said that Satoshi is still among us and is mining bitcoin because every time someone comes up with a new estimation of how many bitcoin Satoshi owns the number they come up with seems to be rising. so far there is a whopping 300k-400k bitcoin rise in the guessed value. so I guess if we get a couple more of these guessworks we can see Satoshi's bitcoin stash to reach 21 million cap too Tongue
240  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin CONFIRMED BREAK OUT of Monthly & Weekly Resistance --> Targets of $6500+ on: May 10, 2019, 08:37:37 AM
Hey guys – we've been watching for this particular move for a couple months now. We've been following BTC ever since the break of the 55 EMA ($3800-ish) on the monthly.

In our last two vids we discussed the break of the Monthly 21 EMA and (just confirmed) the break of the WEEKLY 55. This is extremely bullish – and we're expecting continuation to the upside moving forward.

Ichimoku looking great as well, and showing a possible target to $7400-ish
Here come the "prophets" Grin

Expectedly, we're going to see more of Bitcoin prophets spring up now that price is beginning to soar. Don't forget that price rise or fall is subject to market sentiments. These sentiments can't be predetermined before hand. Even TA aren't 100% certain. This is a speculative industry where any price direction is highly possible. For those buying in now, you're merely chasing the price. Wait for a retracement (this correction is imminent). Otherwise you end up buying the high.

I am actually waiting for the next retracement or correction because I am planning to convert my Eth to Bitcoin. I am sure there is a correction for this little bull run days from now. these days when Bitcoin is going strong, there can be the proliferation of many good predictions of the so-called prophets. Well, I myself can be making my own predictions and when things are going rosy it is always nice to be positive though we should also be cautious at all times as the market is always unpredictable and sometimes be shocking.

you should never wait for correction to convert your altcoin to bitcoin. that only works when you have fiat and want to convert that fiat to bitcoin because fiat keeps its value whether bitcoin goes up or down but altcoins go down both when bitcoin rises and also when it falls. so you may end up losing more money twice if an actual "retracement" occurred. and you have already missed your chance to get the best conversion rate between ETH and BTC since ETH has dropped nearly 10% against bitcoin so far and that will only grow more.
