1221  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Legal ransomware ? on: August 26, 2018, 12:07:52 PM
the question is WHY would anyone in his right mind do that? it is literary "masochistware" as stompix said!

if you like the idea of it then do it on your own. how? just use two keys, encrypt whatever you want with them and then hold one yourself and hand another one to another person you trust or simply store it elsewhere. you don't have to use a third party to encrypt-decrypt your data. it is not some secret technology that they are using, it is open source and for everyone to use.
it can simply be a long password (60 char long) and you store 30 character of it and the other person the other 30 and encrypt your data using one of those password managers (trucrypt,...)
1222  Economy / Speculation / Re: ARE WE REALLY SEEING BULL RUN OR TRAP IN BTC MOVE on: August 26, 2018, 11:59:27 AM
your comment is pretty weird! the $5900-$6000 was touched a long time ago and it was test of the bottom buy support strength. and we have been at least $300 above that mark for the past weeks.
as for the rise I don't know where you got "crossing $5800 area" from and what you mean by that! but the rise is just a small rise (<5%) which is slowly increasing towards $7k. there is no bull run, there isnt even enough rise to trigger any sort of FOMO!
1223  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hacking Bitcoin,How Possible? on: August 26, 2018, 11:53:15 AM
Depends how you define it, but someone could find weaknesses in one or more of the crypto algorithms that are used in Bitcoin. There's also been exploits before, like the xxx billion BTC block back in 2010. You could call that a hack perhaps.

don't confuse a bug which was caught immediately and invalidated right away with an exploit or a hack. they are two very different things. a "hack" of the bitcoin protocol is impossible and has never happened, not even a close thing. a "hack" of wallets of users has happened a lot though. and it is always due to lack of security on the user's end but sometimes because of the wallet provider's mistakes. like the issue with blockchain.info random generator on their mobile wallets which led to some fund losses.
1224  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What is your opinions about today's trading? on: August 25, 2018, 10:53:48 AM
This is the right time to get into trading. As expected, the price of bitcoin is reached 6700$ .So we can expect the value of 8000$ ,before end of this month.
At that time, you can't buy at this price. The price of bitcoin will reach 15,000$ ,before this year end.If you had inverse your savings in bitcoin and hold this year end.You will get huge profit from it.

Yes you are right, it was the best time to invest a huge amount today because the market prices are currently dropping ,that is the reason why you should hold your coins or invest even more.

It's better to hold at the dropping situations.Inverse at the dump will give you some profits. We often able to see some huge raise in the price of bitcoin  at the year end.So it's better to inverse before that period. To get huge profit from your investment, this is the best time.Don't miss your opportunity.
Holding is another option to get profit.

wrong! when price drops, specially price of an altcoin, it drops below what can give you profit. for instance imagine an altcoin worth $300 when the drop starts it goes down to $200 and then the recovery is to $250. if you hold when the drop is starting then you lose $50 per coin or 16.6% of your investment. but if you dump immediately as the dump starts and buy back at the bottom ($200) and then sell after the recovery you will make profit equal to 25%

in short holding something that is getting dumped is not profitable.
1225  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin uses too much energy? on: August 25, 2018, 10:02:58 AM
Yes, i agree bitcoin is using too much of energy, one of my friend had a big problem about paying bills, because it is expensive. He uses too much electricity.
Your friend mine bitcoins? if yes that bill must be covered by the profit generated from that mining. if your friend not making any profit that means you mine the wrong cryptocurrency, just saying out there like a ton of cryptocurrency you can mine and probably gonna make more profit than mine bitcoin.

this discussion is completely off topic because it has nothing to do with how much energy bitcoin is consuming and whether it is too much or nothing at all.
if you or your friend can not make profit mining bitcoin it means YOU are making a mistake not bitcoin. it is like YOU trying to mine Gold and failing to make ends meet and then talk about how Gold mining is using too much power!
1226  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fees have been low after Segwit's growing adoption. Thanks Segwit. on: August 25, 2018, 09:44:39 AM
Hahaha. Bitmain would not dare. What it would start is a stronger debate for a POW change through a UAHF. But if Jihan Wu wants his mining cartel to die then no one is stopping him from killing it.

a POW change will only make Bitmain and Juhan Wu stronger and much richer than they are right now!
you think they give a shit if you make their current equipment useless? not at all because you are not only making their equipment useless, you are making all ASICs useless. Bitmain will happily start building new ASICs for the new algorithm and starts selling new equipment to miners that already had ASICs but now they can not use them anymore.

to be honest I wouldn't be surprised if some day Bitmain pushed for a PoW change! practically it will create demand for their products!
1227  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Let's Fix This to Make Bitcoin Better on: August 25, 2018, 09:35:36 AM
this is actually not our problem and not related to bitcoin. but mainly these are either altcoin market problems or a small group of people problems. for instance when some people invest in an obvious scam and lose money, it has nothing to do with the bitcoin community, there are gullible people everywhere and you can't fix it!
or when someone invests in ICOs that are only hot air and nothing else, it is not a bitcoin community problem to fix. it is again their own gullibility and desperation for profit that makes them take such risks and gamble with their money. and the pump and dump nature of the altcoin market is making this situation even worse.
1228  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin really a bubble ? Analysis. on: August 25, 2018, 07:25:20 AM
I consider these charts highly misleading!
just because you reversed a chart and it showed drop of US dollar value it doesn't mean the other thing (in this case bitcoin) is not bubble. bitcoin is not a bubble because the current value is not higher than its intrinsic value, not only that but also it is lower than it which means it is underpriced!

otherwise you can draw the same chart for anything else, including shitcoins that are pumped, and then make the same false conclusion that they are not in bubbles either.
1229  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If You Started Cryptocurrency In 2016...You Should Be Glad. on: August 25, 2018, 07:19:49 AM
being successful (aka not #rekt) has nothing to do with when you start, it is all about how you start!

for instance some newbie who is always late to everything and makes bad decisions such as buying pumped altcoins or selling bitcoin out of panic and because of FUD, will always lose money. it doesn't matter even if he started in 2010 when bitcoin was $1. it is the bad decisions that leads to losses.
1230  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: [ASK] The price of bitcoin to always decrease? on: August 24, 2018, 01:00:35 PM
it is impossible to answer something that is not happening. it is like trying to answer what makes the sun come out of the west! Cheesy
in the long run bitcoin always rises. it has a couple of reasons but the most important ones are the fact that bitcoin has a limited supply and because it is useful. the utilities that bitcoin offers makes the demand for it rise up. and a simple rising demand and limited supply rule tells you that the price should rise in the long run hence "price always increases".
1231  Economy / Speculation / Re: How far is the bottom for Bitcoin ? When will it peak again? on: August 24, 2018, 11:23:29 AM
All of us are just speculating, including the so-called expert we read on the mainstream media. I still believe the final bottom will be around $5,000 but not sure if we will see a significant move before the next halving

although I don't agree with the $5k but I can see the possibility of that. but regarding no movement until next halving I have to say that is a very long time away. why do you think bitcoin is not going to move at all for years? to be honest that doesn't seem realistic to me at all, the market is so active these days and the adoption is growing despite all the drama. I can not see nothing happening to bitcoin for more than a couple of more months.
1232  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ETFs are gone, now it's Bitmain IPO? on: August 24, 2018, 10:47:10 AM
ETFs aren't gone yet. we got rid of some of them, but there is still shitshow to come Cheesy
I  say shitshow because I seriously doubt that SEC is going to approve any of them and as they get rejected we may see some drama and some panic sell. although I am not able to say how big that drama and panic is going to be but there certainly will be some of it.
I also doubt that Bitmain IPO has any impact on bitcoin price. if you have any arguments against it I would love to hear them, of course anything except "it is bitmain and it is big in mining bitcoin".
1233  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fees have been low after Segwit's growing adoption. Thanks Segwit. on: August 24, 2018, 10:34:17 AM
percentage of Segwit transactions

thanks, I was looking for a SegWit adoption percentage chart...

I think Ver and bch are indeed the reasons they are holding the segwit adoption back at blockchain.info.

I think in the end it was a good thing that blockchain.info has not adopted SegWit yet, at least it is a good thing that they weren't the first to adopt it. because the tensions were high in the early days and considering the fact that blockchain.info has a history of being buggy and there are multiple major fund loss incidents involving their products, I would say they might have messed things up with SegWit and added to the tension in the early days.

besides people shouldn't even be using a web wallet in first place.
1234  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Once again, bitcoin investors hold their breath for an ETF approval on: August 24, 2018, 06:19:27 AM
I don't know if we can consider it as price manipulation. Manage your expectations that it will be delayed again. Bitcoin doesn't need ETF. It will continue to exist without it.

this recent one had no price manipulation, the fact that price doesn't rise is just because people are afraid of that manipulation that can come.
we have had manipulation because of ETF in the past though. the first time it came out and the none of them was rejected a couple of months ago we had a wild swing up and down. and we may see another wild one when Solidx ETF is rejected next month but I wouldn't expect such a big deal out of it yet since these delays made most investors realize how pointless their concerns about ETF approval have been.
1235  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Bitcoin Community Is Now Dominated by Speculators Not Criminals!! on: August 24, 2018, 06:12:50 AM
another shitty article is being shared by the owner of the website on this forum for click bait purposes!

I don't know when these people are going to realize that "essay writing" is not the same as "article writing". an article is something with valuable information, some research and real sources. for instance there is no valid information about how the activities on bitcoin blockchain are being measured. OP is just making things up as he goes to make something possibly because he has read some tweet or some random comment in the social media.
1236  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin hit a trillion dollar marketcap in the future? on: August 24, 2018, 06:02:59 AM
why would you even doubt that?
usually all the discussions and lack of agreement is about timing of it. for example someone says bitcoin will reach $50k-$60k ($1 trillion market cap which nobody cares about MC) by the end of the year and someone else says by the end of 2019 and ... but they all agree that price is rising up and it is just a start.

bitcoin adoption has not yet reached its childhood stage let alone maturity. with adoption growing and the supply still being scarce, the price will continue to go up. unless you think adoption is not going to grow as the reason for your doubt in which case I would like to know why you think that?
1237  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: China Stops over 120 Offshore Digital Currency Exchanges on: August 24, 2018, 05:58:30 AM
that is what the government panic looks like Cheesy
they are witnessing how the money is entering bitcoin and seeing how they can not control anything about bitcoin or the money that is exiting. I said this once before, they should have regulated exchanges with strict rules and let them continue working if they wanted control. now people just buy bitcoin through different channels which is out of the control of their government.
1238  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: HODL is not advisable! on: August 23, 2018, 12:01:31 PM
the correct term is "bag hold" not "hold" these two are different.

for example when you buy bitcoin and hold it, you are HODLing and it is beneficial because bitcoin will rise eventually. and even if price doesn't go up and stays here forever, you are still owning some of bitcoin which is the only decentralized currency in existence. that has to count for something!
but when you buy an altcoin and hold it, then you are "bag holding" which is the thing that is not advisable. because altcoins don't have a good future anyways so their long term prices will decline, specially those with huge supplies.
1239  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: natural constant: high Risk = high reward on: August 23, 2018, 11:28:07 AM
but at the same time high risk = high loss.

and you should never forge that, because forgetting it means being blinded by greed of that possible high reward and losing a lot of money.
lets take two extreme examples: gold and some shitcoin worth 10000 satoshi.
if you buy gold as the low risk low reward thing the chance of losing a lot of money is low because worst case scenario it will drop 10%.
but if you buy that high risk high reward shitcoin it may drop down to 1 satoshi and you can simply lose 99% of your investment. and that has happened enough times in the past to make you wonder about it.

Japan’s Financial Regulator Wants Crypto Industry to ‘Grow Under Appropriate Regulation’

“We have no intention to curb [the crypto industry] excessively. We would like to see it grow under appropriate regulation.”

this " appropriate regulation " is very dangerous

so far Japanese government laws about bitcoin has not been "dangerous" and I don't see why this has to change. although there is always a chance when it comes to government regulating things!
I believe t his is yet another bad consequence of ICOs and their long history of scams and free money from thin air situation that is forcing the government's hands to regulate cryptocurrencies excessively...
