221  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I feel uncomfortable if I don’t buy on: July 02, 2021, 11:01:10 PM
It may seem bad at this point, because you're out of your strategy and missing out on an opportunity, however, remember that the crypto market is unpredictable! You feel sorry now that you're out of funds for investment, but maybe in a few months there will be an even better chance, with bigger dips and by then you will have saved up some money for that.
So I suggest you don't rush seeking funds and do not, under any circumstances, take loans for this stuff, it can end badly. Just wait for the right moment.
222  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: To what extent can sport be strengthened with cryptocurrencies on: July 02, 2021, 08:39:37 PM
IMO cryptocurrencies have had a large impact on sports sponsorship, majorly through sports betting. In the US alone the revenue from sports betting has tripled since 2018, it could most certainly be linked to the emerging number of online bookies that deal with cryptocurrencies, thus making it easier for people to make bets. Though we'll never know for sure.
223  Economy / Economics / Re: The slave does not dream of freedom, but of being the slave-master on: July 01, 2021, 11:54:45 PM
Unfortunately, this phrase certainly applies to the majority of people in modern society. Most people find jobs simply to maintain life, though not fully being conscious of the fact that they spend most of their life on that job they don't like, I believe that makes them slaves.

Most people are ok with doing the same job in the same position for 20 years, they don't even bother thinking of something bigger, they're settled, they have money to provide for their family, and have no other need. A lesser % tries to achieve something bigger in a particular field, climb the career ladder, get better positions with higher salaries and better recognition, and that is exactly the concept you described - trying to be better slaves.

Only a very small % of people actually think of existential problems, have bigger aims and realize that there's much more to this life than just going to your job, these people try to create something of their own. implement new ideas and have a thrive to learn and develop.
224  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Democracy only in papers. on: July 01, 2021, 11:28:43 PM
The problem with democracy in certain African counties is that people still have no choice in there. They vote for the most democratic president, but the elections are set up and the nation ends up with dictators, and it's been going on and on for years. @Gyfts is right, corruption isn't something that can be easily broken, it can take decades and many revolutions Cry

Why it's so much more difficult in Africa?
Honestly, it's a rather difficult question, but I can't think of a better explanation than simply geographical isolation from the West. It is well-known from the world's history that even thousands of years ago when people used to live in tribes the location was crucial. Often those closely situated could find a common language easier and form bigger groups together (which later became civilizations), as opposed to with those that were located far away and were always considered hostile.

See, when the democracy started to spread in the West, Africa was kind of left out, while other countries formed unions, arranged meetings, and discussed regulations, future directions. Maybe that is one of the reasons this system wasn't fully and accurately implemented in African countries.

In addition, things are complicated with the fact that many countries in this continent don't want to become democratic, many still run autocratic regimes, and this surrounding also has an impact and slows the movement in the democratic direction for other countries.
225  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Where can I find a fair payout and gambling site? on: July 01, 2021, 10:54:54 PM
In my opinion, I think op have gamblingaaddiction based on the post op made about quitting your job and become a full time gambler rather than continue to have a job and enjoy what op have.
That's unlikely, it looks more like OP is rather looking for people with gambling addiction, so he tries to lure them with this manipulative stuff as if one can quit the job and live off gambling. The OP may even not be involved with gambling, he's just trying to make us use the website.
Though I'm pretty sure OP inserted the wrong link, because I followed the one he provided and there were no games in there, only tips, advices, offered casinos, that sort of stuff.
226  Economy / Economics / Re: Is it good to allow Black Money to be whiten by investing in Stock? on: July 01, 2021, 10:39:33 PM
Looks like a sound idea. Obviously, people that run businesses underground will continue to do so, so there's no stopping them, it's basically very similar to legalizing a gambling business. However, it is no secret that for such entrepreneurs withdrawing and using money they make from the black market is a big problem.

Such terms will encourage these people to unravel their true income, because even with 25% still, it will probably be more convenient, less risky, and maybe even cheaper than money laundering. At the same time, black money is most often pretty big money, so this will be a good profit for the government.

Of course, there should be some limits, certain types of businesses shouldn't run under any circumstances, no matter how much money the government can get from it.
227  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Million dollar win on $15 parlay whoa on: July 01, 2021, 09:42:33 PM
What an amazing win, the odds were so low, and they wi is just crazy, poor bettor, how did he even survive through watching this game Cheesy

Also, I guess that makes this win the second biggest parlay ever won, after Steve Whiteley parlay win in Horse Racing. Also an amazing story, that one, maybe not everyone heard of it, the bettor turned £2 into £1.5m.
228  Economy / Economics / Re: Poor and middle class as a mentality on: June 30, 2021, 11:55:42 PM
This is a very insightful read.

I do think that nurture has a much larger role in determining outcomes compared to nature. Your physcial genes likely only determine the first 10% of your success, and the next 70-80% is really what you surround yourself with from an early age. The last 10-20% is actual effort/hard work.

It's not only a mentality, but also the networks and connections that you form. It shouldn't surprise anyone that the world is incredibly nepotistic.
Actually, that's a pretty common misbelief, I am surprised by how many people think that environment is more important than genes. Probably because most of us were told so at schools and no one ever questions it.

The fact is, there are published studies providing evidence that this might be wrong. Here's a great review summarizing a wide range of such studies: https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fnhum.2019.00044/full#B29

Here are some excerpts from this study:

Quote
In a large longitudinal study of English children, a correlation of 0.81 was observed between intelligence at 11 years of age and scores on national tests of educational achievement 5 years later. This contribution of intelligence was evident in all 25 academic disciplines. Even at much later age, intelligence remains stable: a single test of general intelligence taken at age 11 correlated highly with the results of the test at the age of 90.

The stability of intelligence, especially after a long time indicates the importance of genetic material, as it is obvious that the environment is changing and if it played such an important role, then with years passing the test results would have changed.

Quote
Finally, one of the most remarkable findings of twin studies is that heritability of intelligence is extraordinarily large, in the range 50%–80% even reaching 86% for verbal IQ. This makes human intelligence one of the most heritable behavioral traits.

Twin studies are very representative, as the genetic identity in twins is very high. Now, one could say that twins have similar performances due to the same environment, but I can hardly agree on that. I know a lot of twins that have very different interests, preferences, different friends, and, thus, quite different environments, especially when growing older.

The major problem with these studies is that "intelligence" is very difficult to measure, there's more to it than just IQ tests. But new studies keep emerging, and many of them are dedicated to identifying specific genes responsible for intelligence (with genome-wide analysis and quantifying single nucleotide polymorphisms), and they all seem to dispel the widespread beliefs that genes account for a very small % in terms of intelligence.
229  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why on earth do you own bitcoin? on: June 30, 2021, 10:52:00 PM
I own in the hope that soon enough it will be implemented in the modern economy and I'll be able to use it. When that happens - it will become money for spending. I also try to hold when the price drops drastically, just to ensure I don't lose a lot of money because of price volatility. And some part I own just out of curiosity: how high will Bitcoin reach (I guess I'm never selling that part, though I know it's wrong Cheesy).
230  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you pay with Bitcoin whenever you're able to? on: June 30, 2021, 10:19:55 PM
In my country, it's not possible to make routine purchases with cryptocurrencies, but we use that system among friends to make money transfer. Also, some landlords accept payments with Bitcoin from tenants, but I only know one such case, apart from that it's very rare.

I'd use crypto in the shops, restaurants, and other places if it was possible and easy, e.g. with an app, touch ID, or something like that, I wouldn't want to press the private key each time in a public place  Cheesy
231  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Terms and condition a must read before signing up any online gambling site on: June 30, 2021, 09:52:58 PM
You have a point, but there's a reason people don't read ToS: they're extremely long and often written in a rather technical language, which normally people can't fully understand.

I'm a good example of that, I usually don't read the TOS as I'm thinking most TOS are all the same, it's more on technical but I believe the site would not make a stupid mistake to destroy their reputation, so my strategy is very simple, I usually play on a casino with a good reputation and has a big market as I know they'll ensure to keep that reputation intact.
^ Even though you are not reading the TOS but I think you must go first to the FAQ which is some of those questions come from the TOS. For me, reading TOS is a very important matter because you can read it there the DO and the DONTS which is causing possible mistakes every time you will use it. So if you have enough time to read the TOS much better. It is better if you want to protect yourself from possibly violating the rules and TOS is very important at all and nothing else matter.

What Finestream wishes to say is that "DO & DONT's" are pretty much the same everywhere, if you follow the logic! And what can you possibly want to do in one casino that you can't do in any other?!

If you are an honest player you will not have problems... at least not some big problems! But this doesn't apply to high rollers and people who have good winning streaks (most often with sports betting)! People with a lot of money should think twice before choosing a casino, they can be robbed! And people with long/big winning streaks often have problems with cashing out! With reading or not their ToS!
Apart from high rolls and big wins, one should be careful when using bonuses and it's better to go through the terms and conditions once again and check what rules apply in order to withdraw after using them. I think this is the trickiest part, even with respected casinos there can be unpleasant situations where you'll be required to play a lot in order to withdraw.
232  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Terms and condition a must read before signing up any online gambling site on: June 29, 2021, 08:30:22 PM
You have a point, but there's a reason people don't read ToS: they're extremely long and often written in a rather technical language, which normally people can't fully understand.

Moreover, sometimes you can read all of it but there still will be some misunderstanding. For instance, regarding KYC verification. The owners can indicate in ToS that it will be required, plus what exactly is required (e.g. full address, ID photo, etc.), but what they don't tell you is that your photo must be of super high quality, your address must be indicated on an official document, but they can accidentally extract the wrong address, and sometimes it may take you >5 attempts to submit it and pass the verification. So reading ToS wouldn't help you in such a case.

I still think it's better to read it, but I don't blame people who don't, and I think reading reviews and looking at a reputation, in general, is more representative and helpful.
233  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gresham's law and Bitcoin on: June 29, 2021, 05:36:32 PM
So basically this is a very long way of saying that we can't use cryptocurrencies for purchasing unless they are accepted and regulated by the government. Didn't we all know that before?

Also, I think it is a little inappropriate to apply Gresham's law dated 1560's which was accurate for THAT economy in today's world. Things have changed since then. Just one example, at that time the options for investment and storing value were very limited, so there was "bad" money and "good" money. But I think many would agree that nowadays in terms of STORING there are better options than cryptocurrencies, it's not what they were meant for.

So, to conclude, Bitcoin hasn't fallen into any kind of trap, it's going to be just fine.
234  Economy / Economics / Re: Poor and middle class as a mentality on: June 29, 2021, 04:07:07 PM
IMO if we're not taking extreme cases (e.g. poor people that don't even have home, computer, and Internet access, can't read books, etc.), the mentality nowadays isn't defined only by the class in which you are born. Yes, school plays an important role, but you can read inspiring books, watch movies, learn history and, thus, change your mentality, learn to dream big. That's the awesomeness of our world - the open-source, you can find anything you want and self-educate, only if you are willing to.

236  Economy / Economics / Re: Is this a gang up against cryptocurrency? Or ways to regulation? on: June 28, 2021, 11:14:54 PM
Doesn't seem like it in the case of the UK (unlike China or India, and with Nigeria things are complicated, not everything is apparent yet). But the fact that people are still free to use cryptocurrencies AND Binance says that they are not trying to restrict the use of cryptos.
Quote
Binance's existing crypto exchange is not UK-based so despite the FCA ruling, there will be no impact on UK residents who use the website to purchase and sell cryptocurrencies.
If they wanted to, they would've done it differently, applied some more strict rules.

Following the article:
Quote
The FCA does not regulate cryptocurrencies, but requires exchanges to register with them. Binance has not registered with the FCA and therefore is not allowed to operate an exchange in the UK.
It seems that the problem may lies within these formalities indeed.
237  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Crypto Gambling Licenses - What they actually mean on: June 28, 2021, 10:06:05 PM
Sure thing, I've never checked whether the casino is licensed or not, there are far more important things to consider, such as provably fair, reviews, software, content, bonuses, etc.

It's almost the same as a patent. The idea can be pretty shitty in its nature, but they still will give you a patent as long as you pay the money and follow some basic rules, like don't steal anyone else's idea, be new and offer potential industrial applicability.

Considering that these licenses cost thousands of $, but basically don't mean anything to customers (I don't think that this is the kind of stuff people pay attention to), many legit casinos don't bother buying and maintaining them.

239  Economy / Gambling / Re: Pragmatic play slots not available in my region on: June 26, 2021, 07:59:43 PM
Oh, there's a whole lot of reasons why certain slots (or whole providers) aren't available.
For one, I can say that this is decided by the companies responsible for the creation and distribution of slots, they impose restrictions, not the casino website itself (and in no way the country of your residence).

You can read more about some of the reasons here: https://casino-howto.com/blog/why-some-online-slots-are-not-available-in-some-countries/
240  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Fully vaccinated individuals now spared of masks in the casinos in Vegas on: June 26, 2021, 06:07:27 PM
But a whole lot of persons haven't gotten the vaccine yet could it be it has gone out of stock because lately I haven't heard much about people getting the vaccines unlike when it was newly released could it be it has gone of stock or are we awaiting a new directives from the health sector for further instructions.
I don't think it generally got out of stock, it all depends on the country you live in. There are countries with a leading vaccination rate, like Canada, Israel, UK, Germany, where above 50-60% of the population have already been vaccinated. And vaccination is still ongoing, approximately 40 million doses are being administered daily. Only the developing countries have problems with that because the governments didn't act immediately and didn't acquire enough doses. Also, many countries suffer from crisis and simply can't afford to buy and carry out vaccination quickly, India for instance.
