Of course its a threat.

Half the large companies cant secure personal data, most exchanges have been hacked at some point so what makes you think your personal I.D will held securely.

I guess we have been involved with Crypto for a similar amount of time. Interested to know how you dealt with the 2014-16 bear market.

Did you sell a lot, or just hodl ? Did you nurse the price anxiously, or just busy yourself in other areas ?

This would be instructive for newer holders, as we could be entering a similar market period.

Myself, I run 2 full time businesses not connected with crypto, so that took a lot of my attention and hodling was the line of least resistance.

I simply dont get greedy forever HODLing hoping for a bit more then a bit more.

Set yourself financial goals, stick to the plan taking profit at key points investing that money elsewhere buying back in on the dips.

The strategy has worked well for me, 2 years ago I paid off my current house and recently have made enough to buy a nice car and another larger house.  My current house will now go to my daughter when she is old enough giving her a good head start in life.

Proof is in the price:

So you are comparing 1 bitcoin to 1 troy oz?

How did you come to those units of measurement.

Gold is often sold in grains, grams, imperial oz, troy oz, tolas, taels, kg, tonnes.

Direct comparison is impossible.

Try comparing total market cap and come back to me.

p.s. gold supply is infinite in an infinite universe, please stop spreading fake news Smiley.

No probs, if you can supply it in unlimited quantities below current market rate drop me a pm.

Didn't realise Pivx was funding an interstellar mining operation, you should pair with wirelesscoin that were doing timetravel Smiley

For the gold bugs:

Except your charts are nonsense.

Gold cannot be counterfeited.  It is an element and cannot be recreated.  You can buy something shiny and yellow but its not hard to work out if its real gold or not.

Sovereign - Most countries issue government gold e.g. eagles, britannias, krugerrands, pandas etc.  and what about the "Gold sovereign" is that sovereign enough for you.

Decentralised - how many people own a gold ring or piece of jewellery.  A lot more than hold crypto + you have individual investors that purchase gold in bar or coin form.

Divisible - you can buy gold down to grains (15.4324 grains to 1 gram), gold flakes, gold leaf etc.

Portability - a 1kg gold bar is the size of a smart phone, how big is a pile of fiat worth £32k?

Scarce - All the gold ever mined fits in 1 Olympic swimming pool.

Easily transactable - Depends how you define it.  Globally you can walk into a dealer/jeweller with gold and walk out with the local currency.  I have previously sold over £50k gold to a bullion dealer, walked in and funds were in my account by the next morning.  Currently have over £400k worth of gold which will be easy to sell in 1 hit when I choose too.

SMART (programmable) - Just another way of saying "adding 3rd party risk" as the programmable parameters of bitcoin are not in your control.

Biased nonsense.
229  Economy / Speculation / Re: Lightning Network = centralization on: April 01, 2018, 04:23:54 PM
Nobody cares. Nobody gives a fuck. Nothing is more centralized than the fiat system.

If we had decentralized P2P exchanges already, with the mining cost coded as a bottom in it, you would not be here spamming those threads.

I would say the fiat system is considerably more decentralized than bitcoin.

1000 people control 40% of all bitcoin.
97% of all bitcoins are held by 4% of addresses.

You cant say the same for cash.

231  Other / Politics & Society / Re: World biggest problems on: April 01, 2018, 12:45:36 PM
What are the top 5 biggest problems in the world if you are to rate?

1) Religion
2) People that follow religion
3) People that think we should blindly respect others make believe religions
4) People that think their religion is the only true religion
5) All the extremist idiots that run around killing in the name of their make believe religion.

232  Economy / Economics / Re: Cashless society on: April 01, 2018, 12:42:36 PM
A cashless society describes an economic state whereby financial transactions are not conducted with money in the form of physical banknotes or coins, but rather through the transfer of digital information (usually an electronic representation of money) between the transacting parties. Cashless societies have existed, based on barter and other methods of exchange, and cashless transactions have also become possible using digital currencies such as bitcoin. However it  discusses and focuses on the term "cashless society" in the sense of a move towards, and implications of, a society where cash is replaced by its digital equivalent - in other words, legal tender (money) exists, is recorded, and is exchanged only in electronic digital form. Having these characteristics, we can live in a most convenient life that although we are in our home, we can pay bills, can buy something, can transfer accounts with no hassle on our part. Thanks to the people behind these block chain technology.

And by the time of cashless society, Bitcoin also exist as this is the first cryptocurrency that is more usable and remains in the mind of the people.

Isn't copy and paste frowned upon here and a banning offense Wink

I am glad you raised this issue as it is truly the biggest concern in the bitcoin ecosphere at the present time.

Not only did you call me naive, you misrepresented what I said multiple times to do so... Either intentionally, or out of ignorance.  I will not waste my time engaging with you.

Don't have a nose bleed snowflake.

Sorry if this has been posted before but it was updated recently. Torque this is mostly for you and roach too.

Why do they do this?
Quote
It’s all about money control. Financial elite has recognized that Bitcoin and Crypto in general is a threat to their existence. What do powers do when they see anything as a threat or enemy? You got it, they try to destroy the enemy (by all means). Therefore, It is extremely important for the Financial-elite to stop bitcoin’s rise so their show can continue.

What do they do to stop the RISE of Bitcoin? They first let it rise to unimaginable height (20K first stop). Then they drop it to unimaginable lows. They will do this many times. They have trillions of dollar to maintain the show going, UNTIL the RETAIL investor gives up in frustration. What you are seeing since Mid-2017 is just the 1st inning of 9 innings Bitcoin game.

Bitcoin has been placed into Geopolitical chessboard since Mid-2017. Most of the Bitcoiners have NO IDEA how big this game is. Crypto space is just a pawn on this chessboard and there are elite-fingers moving these pawns (Gold, Silver and now Bitcoin).
Here's the thing. Bitcoin has already checkmated anyone who is trying to play this game. Even if gold and silver are as manipulated as this article suggests there is a significant difference between those precious metals and Bitcoin. The only way for precious metals to have a utility like bitcoin's is when paper currencies based on non fractional reserves of those metals are distributed. The world gave up on this, and up until now that hand has played very well for central banks but Bitcoin is going to destroy that game. Bitcoin's utility is already too great for manipulators to be able to corner it like they have the precious metals assumedly. In the end if they throw all their massive amounts of money at BTC to try to manipulate it what do you think that means will actually happen?

There is strong talk that a gold backed Yuan and a silver backed ruble are imminent.

Everything is manipulated inc. bitcoin (by whales and exchange bots currently) and its naive to think otherwise.  When bankers run the world behind the scenes controlling the laws and the money printing presses they can own and control anything they wish too.

Always makes me laugh when people here claim they can manipulate the gold markets but not bitcoin for some reason even though gold's market cap dwarfs bitcoin.

...BTC is not meant to become the definitive payment method...

That's not true. BTC is not complete if we can't use it as a payment method.

BTC had problems because exchanges were spamming the network by not batching their transactions and many of them are only recently upgraded to segwit.

If you can't pass your bitcoin to the next person to get something in return, its no better than tulips.

To achieve these problems and stay as decentralized as possible, bitcoin/lightning devs created the Lightning Network but its still not fully adopted yet. (because its in beta) So we can expect even more growth in the future.

I agree bitcoin was suddenly being described as a store of wealth when it failed as a payment system due to long confirmation times and excessive fees.

It's crazy how people are driven by FUD.

They don't see the big picture.

The only news that seems to have a reason to me are charts and those graphs that picture the adoption, surging, uncertaintment phases of cryptos throughout these years.

We are into an evolution process, the only thing is understanding the timing to invest/make gainz or just hodling, not whether or not leaving. Blockchian is here to stay.

Of course, going all in one crypto could be riskful.

The big picture is that real world adoption of bitcoin seems to be going backwards not forwards.
238  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 31, 2018, 10:14:48 AM
Some more bad news to add to the FUD.

Reddit Is No Longer Accepting Bitcoin As Payment For Its ‘Gold’ Membership.
239  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why bitcoin will fall and stay under $1000. on: March 30, 2018, 08:22:13 PM
I will just leave it here - an interesting article about bitcoin's future price:
"Bitcoin price trading in a range below $7,000: Tom Lee tells cryptocurrency investors to hold on, Bitcoin will hit $25,000 end of 2018"

Source: https://www.fxstreet.com/cryptocurrencies/news/bitcoin-price-trading-in-a-range-below-7-000-tom-lee-tells-cryptocurrency-investors-to-hold-on-bitcoin-will-hit-25-000-end-of-2018-201803301527

These people are full of shit.

If he was so sure of that why hasn't he put everything he owns and maxed every line of credit and ploughed the lot into BTC.

No one has a crystal ball so dont select predictions that just serve to reinforce your own predictions and bias.

No one knows where the price will be tomorrow let alone in 9 months time.

Do you have any online reviews of your service?

I have had a quick search and cant find any reference to your company.

Had a quick dig around and your trail looks legit but you seem very low key (companies house registered, linkedin employees matching registered director etc.)
