He is looking sharp, yes. And he did win the Melbourne Summer Set tournament the other week. A contender for the title, or is that going too far? It's is difficult to know where all these players are at, quite a few of them seem to have had Covid over December, some come back below par, some seemingly right at their best... the Norrie/Korda match is a good example of this, you'd expect it normally to be fairly close, but both players had their preparations disrupted by positive Covid tests, which seems to have affected Norrie more. Might make the betting a little more unpredictable this year.
In principle, Giron has not set unsolvable tasks for Nadal and Rafa should be pleased that the match was won in three sets and no extra effort was spent to achieve a positive result. As far as I know, Nadal did not give any of his serves in the match, but let's not forget that the opponent is only number 66 in the world. On the other hand, while it can be argued that the transferred COVID does not seem to have had a very negative effect on Nadal's game and fitness, but it will be possible to talk about this with confidence later. However, historically Nadal has only one title in Australia in 2009, which on the one hand indicates less chances, but on the other hand this fact may be the opposite to spur the player.

The fact that Djokovic is out now from Australia Open, means one less opponent for Rafa to worry about.

But in this match, he looked quite fit and sharp which I liked a lot. I didn't even think he would be this much fit. Even though it's against a number 66, a win like this is always appreciable as he is aging a lot, and I'm glad that the match didn't go longer as he needs to stay fresh for the next matches, right? Congrats to him for the great win.

Winning against Sri Lanka will not be easy, I guess. Sri Lankan bowling is good enough. They won the toss and elected to bowl first. Australia stumbled in the beginning. At the end of 49 overs, Australia managed to collect 169 runs. It is not enough to win. However, if the Australian bowlers do well, they have a chance to win. Because I have not seen an experienced batsman in the Sri Lankan team.

Australia was able to give a target of 176 runs. And what you say is not enough to win, I agree. They could have easily won if they could have given a target of more than 200 rus. At the end of 25 overs, Sri Lanka scored 113 runs losing 4 wickets. Only 63 runs required in 25 overs to win. Sri Lanka may not have a problem winning this match.

Burkina Faso     vs     Ethiopis

Burkina Faso may win against Ethiopia. The Ethiopian team performed very poorly. They did not win any of the two matches. And conceded 4 goals against Cameroon in the previous match. Although the Burkina team is not strong, their gameplay is stable. They have a chance to win 1-0.

Cape Verde     vs      Cameroon

Cameroon looks strong in this year's Africa Cup of Nations. They have won both the matches and they have scored 6 goals. Their forward players are in the form now. And maybe in today's match they will be able to continue the winning streak.

Enjoying the recent matches of the team England and India is very annoying. England lost their first wicket by 68 runs today. And losing the remaining 9 wickets, and they collected only 56 runs. I don't understand why such irregular players are consistently given a place in the squad.
The situation in India is very similar to that in England. There is no one in the team who can consistently perform well. Players must be patient and responsible before playing a Test match.
England is still a good side, I am sure they can perform well against top teams like Pakistan, NZ, India etc. In Ashes, Australia came well prepared and it seems that they have some roadmap for this series which they followed well throughout the series. England on the other hand have zero prepration for this series.

Do you really think this team from England is good? Sorry I couldn't agree with you. I watched all the matches in this series. Australia has dominated in almost all the matches. Although the fourth Test match was a draw, we have seen the dominance of Australian players in whole 5 days. I think the England team's top order needs to be redesigned. The two opener batsmen have performed poorly in almost every innings. The bowlers have performed well enough.

The fact that Real and PSG meet at such an early stage is bad because someone will leave the tournament, but good because already at this stage we will see a dramatic confrontation. The problem of the Champions League is that this tournament becomes interesting in the final matches of the group stage (in some, not in all) and in the playoffs, and as you rightly noted, even in the playoffs some teams get weak opponents and their confrontation is not very interesting.
Bad decision with one bigger team will leave tournament early between Madrid or PSG, but how ever PSG failed touch first standing position on group stage have regulation will faced with leader group stage where Madrid as against for 16 round. Both team playing well and Madrid keep consistent on champion league group stage just got one loss, different with PSG just collected 11 points from three time with winning and one time loss and get two draw, different with Madrid success get five winning and collected 15 points with one loss only. But domestic league Madrid more consistent than PSG will give favorite for Madrid take to quarter final.
I don't understand why it's bad that the "big" clubs will meet now so that someone is eliminated from the tournament. We will see two great matches, it would be worse if it was one match (final). There should be only one winner in a tournament, so it's normal for even good teams to leave the tournament. By the way, if some small team reaches the finals by knocking out big clubs, then this will also be good, as it will increase the diversity among the winners of the tournament and bring some fresh trends.

I think I disagree with you. Yes, big matches are always enjoyable to watch. But what if we compare a finals RMA vs PSG and a normal practice RMA vs PSG match?

Which match will be more thrilling to watch?

Obviously the finals match. Why is that? Because there is more at stake, more to win, more to lose. So if we had the same match in the semi-finals, for example, it would have been more compelling to everyone and also both the clubs as they would only be two steps away from being the champions. This is why I personally don't like big matches earlier in the tournament.

Sampdoria are now playing against Torino. Although this is Sampdoria's home match, Torino is playing well enough today. Looks like they can win today.
I'm watching this match now, and I agree with you, Torino will be able to earn full points today. They are playing great. They have already scored one more goal, 1 goal ahead now. Sampdoria scored the first goal of the match. But they are not playing well in the second half. However, Torino's players are playing well and attacking a lot. Sampdoria's gameplay has slowed down a bit.
It's always a nice odds when it comes to a game with a winning come from behind .. but this one i didnt expected it till the equalizer goal scored , im always doing the high odds such as this one but yeah i missed it this time just like the others i guess...

despite sampdoria struggling in the last couple of weeks with a winless form in the last 4 matches , thought they could get a point at least
.

My guess was right and Torino was able to gain full points. If you have watched this match, you must believe that Torino has done a great job today. They made a total of 12 on-target shots. Sampdoria goalkeeper Falcone played well. However, he is tired of resisting the attack today. Torino has attacked a lot, so Sampdoria didn't get a chance to attack very much today. If Sampdoria had an experienced striker, they might have been able to score from a counterattack.

Messi was a great player for Barcelona, prolly the best to ever come out of camp nou, but I'd not say that he singlehandedly carried Barcelona to glory, I know he was their most important and influential player, But Barcelona is a great club and they had a lot of quality players, Messi made them absolutely complete, but he wasn't everything, he also needed other players to function as well, what I mean is, Barca and Messi had a seamless relationship. Just take a look at how things are panning out in PSG for Messi, he isn't at his best cause he does not seem to have the sort of connection he had at Barcelona. Having said that, I still don't think PSG are somewhat ready to win the CL, they have the individual talents, but as a team, they are not the best and it could still take them a while before they are CL champions.
I also disagree with the fact that Messi allegedly single-handedly created the success of a team like Barcelona. Barcelona was just as strong as a team and their famous tiki-taka just requires great teamwork and the same great performers that were available. Therefore, of course, it is foolish to say that all the recent successes of Barcelona are solely the merits of Messi. Let's not forget that the backbone of that Barcelona was also an important part of the Spanish national team that became world and European champions. In addition, let's not forget that Messi is not getting any younger, and therefore his factor as a player also weakens with time, so the Paris Saint-Germain management should definitely keep this in mind.
To say that it was solely due to Messi goes way too far, but if you look at some of the solo goals he scored in important matches (against Real Madrid in the CL semis, or against Athletic Bilbao in the Copa del Rey final for example), it showed that at least some of the titles were won because of him. Even in a game where he didn't score (which rarely happened), the opponents were so focussed to keep Messi out of the game that there was tremendous space for all other players. I can't think of a single player who would have scored 50 goals in a single season in the Primera División even with Xavi and Iniesta still playing.
However, I fully agree with you that Barcelona was THE perfect squad for a couple of years from goalkeeper to the offenders. The balance within the team was out of this world and yet Messi still was the one who stuck out. There are phases where free-kicks were almost like penalties for him. That's just unreal.
We were lucky to have had the chance to see two of the best soccer players of all time to compete with each other, Messi and Ronaldo. I remember when everyone thought that Henry for Barcelona and Raul for Madrid was crazy, but that wasn't even close to Messi vs. Ronaldo. Not sure if we get to see it again on that level or even beyond within our lifetime.

Okay maybe saying "singlehandedly" was a bit much on my side but you for sure cannot deny that he had the most impactful performance on the field. Even when he is not having the ball, his movement also made space for others to score. He assisted tons of goals for Suarez and Neymar all while scoring by himself. I would say that he was the player that stuck the team together. Even before he left, Barca were in a good place. Look at Barcelona right now after he's gone. They are in shambles.

Messi wasn't singlehandedly carrying but he had the most impact on the pitch for Barcelona. We also cannot deny the impact players like Xavi, Iniesta or Neymar had but Messi had the most impact. Before Neymar and Suarez joined, he had the duty of scoring goals and he did that very well. Even scoring 91 goals in a calendar year.
(I dunno how he did that) After Neymar and Suarez joined, he moved to the right flank and assisted them with tons of goals also while he scored lots by himself.
@Coyster, yes agreed, not singlehandedly but he was the most important player in my eyes. I'm not saying that Iniesta or Xavi didn't do anything for Barcelona but if we look at the larger timeline, with Xavi/Iniesta and after the Xavi/Iniesta era, Messi is the most important one. Even before he left, Barcelona were in a good state. Their attacks were good,, the build-up was good. But after he left, it seemed like Barcelona forgot to build up to the attack.

@kro55, the fact that he has been the most influential and important and also consistent player for Barcelona over the years. Barcelona were always a star squad with lots of tier-one players. But even when Barcelona were a lower-tier squad - last season, he didn't let them feel like they were an average squad without Suarez, Neymar, Xavi, Iniesta. But when he left, Barcelona faced the uncanny. Their downward spiral is still ongoing.

Things have already become very dirty in terms of both Djokovic and the Australian Govt. In my opinion, he should not be appealing this time as he is also to be blamed for this as he broke the rules and he should be punished. Even if he appeals and by any chance even wins the case, I will actually lose my respect for him which I had over the years for him as a sportsman. I think he should just return home and apologize for his deeds.

Yeah, I feel the same. As I said earlier, his behaviour in this instance really casts a light on his behaviour during matches, and the convenient "injuries" he gets at key moments. He's showing his personality to the whole world here, the way he is trying to bend the rules in his own favour, or just pretend the rules don't apply to him. The arrogance here is astonishing. And I think for most people, if they are refused entry to a country, and the public are vocal in saying they don't want them to come... then you just don't come. You don't take it to court, lose the case, and then continue the legal fight... actually fighting the country itself for a right to break their rules. I think a lot of people have lost all respect for him.

It's more disappointing as this is coming from a huge public figure like Djokovic. Lots of people make him their idol and they look up to him but he let everyone down. I heard that his visa was taken away by the govt and rumors are that he might appeal again. If he actually does, this is gonna get really obscene in front of everyone. He himself broke the rules, entered the country, the court detained him, he appealed, won the case, the govt took his visa, he might appeal again. This has become a shit drama show.

Covid19 is not something one will pray for,or because the vaccine has been discovered, one should be careless and not ensuring he or she maintains that safety meaaures that will make him or her not to contract the sickness.
These safety measure which is regular washing of hands, avoiding social distancing and using of nose mask is what I have always done which has made me to be covid19 free.
I had never been infected since the start of the pandemic, generally, I was always careful when it came to washing hands/using antiseptic wash, wearing mask correctly and so on. It all needed the inability to avoid some stupid friend's birthday to get infected. Since the PCR showed the Delta variant, I believe that our symptoms would be way worse if we weren't vaccinated.

You have done the exact thing by avoiding Birthday party, only awareness can prevent this pandemic.

For me, till now not infected. There are almost 6 months has been Lockdown in our city. We all complied with the lockdown, I did not go out except necessarily, As well as adhering to clean cleanliness.

And I took the full doses of the vaccine in time, Needless to say, the mask is more beneficial than the vaccine. Since the coronavirus is contagious and spreads through whooping cough, the mask has kept me safe from getting corona.

most likely the main goal of the president of psg recruiting messi, because psg wants to lift the prestigious league trophy, because psg if in their own match they are satisfied with lifting the league trophy, but they want to lift the champions league trophy, they expect messi to bring miracles in the champions league, if messi succeeds bringing psg to lift the champions league champion, it is certain that messi will be considered as a bringer of luck, and they will definitely extend messi's contract at psg..
Is it only Messi who is nicknamed the star there ? because what I see there are a lot of star players at the PSG club and while Messi is at PSG his performance has not been good, whether it's because he is 34 years old or because of other factors, what is clear at PSG is that there are already many stars now and not only Messi just.

Yes, there are a lot of stars players there, and they have been there for years. But how much did they help to win the league?? there were unable to help PSG win the champions league.

Maybe that's why they recruited Messi. As we saw that with even a bad squad like Barcelona's Messi was able to do wonders. Barcelona can now feel that how important Messi was for them. He single-handedly carried them to success. Maybe that's why the PSG board thought that Messi will be able to help them get the CL trophy. So far this season PSG do look like a contender for the title, let's see what the future holds for them.

Cannabis compounds prevent coronavirus from entering human cells, study finds

More on it

Also  all deaths from covid were needless because Ivermectin works and the government knew it all along they just hid the evidence.

I think so, Since the invention of the vaccine and the introduction of the vaccine, it has been possible to prevent coronavirus. Even last year, the world was still, there was no vibration of life. But since October 2021, educational institutions and other institutions were opened in different countries, Covid affected rate also decreases a lot.

Did the annual flu vaccine defeat the flu?  Maybe if we are all mandated to take it, then the annual flu would disappear?  Oh wait, it already has...

Vaccines do not completely eliminate the virus. You need to be aware of yourself as well as the vaccination. Since the flu is contagious, the virus is contagious also and spreads from person to person, So everyone should be aware of their place and maintain cleanliness.

If you don't follow some basic things, these viruses will never be prevented, Then there is nothing to do but blame the vaccine (because the vaccine did not work).

No, Covid can not be eradicated through vaccines. We are no longer at the point where vaccines can stop transmission, they are only good for stopping hospitalization and death. The parameters keep shifting, and if you don't pay attention you might miss it.

That isn't to dissuade usage of a vaccine, because that's only a personal decision made between one's self and any counsel they receive with their physician. For most people it works. When break through infections become the norm post vaccination, there becomes a time where alternate therapeutics are needed, and the goals must become realistic, ie stop using vaccinations to end an "endemic" virus.

@Gyfts,

Actually, I don't think that coronavirus cannot be prevented by vaccines. Because at the beginning of the invention of the vaccine Coronavirus could not be prevented in any way. The rate of coronavirus continued to rise despite repeated lockdowns.

But you know, as soon as everyone was vaccinated, the rate of coronavirus infection began to decline. And I can't find any reason not to believe in vaccines because vaccines weren't invented by chance. The result of many months of research is this antidote. and it is developing continuously by certified teams.

The Lakers loss today is actually heartbreaking since the star players are doing great but they aren't getting enough minutes they should have been given enough time until they are exhausted to play.

A nice game to watch was the Nets vs Bull and the Nets won the game by blowing them out by 26, 138-112.

James Harden: 25 PTS
Kevin Durant: 27 PTS
Kyrie Irving: 9 PTS

The Big three was doing great because they are winning games despite of their new rotation since Irving came back.

The Lakers have the individual talent, but they need to convert that into team play. Lebron played really well but he can only do so much by himself. Howard should be getting more minutes in my opinion.

And a huge win for the Nets against the Bulls. The big 3 seem to like are clicking well enough with each other. KD is playing very consistently and Harden also rose to the occasion. Irving didn't score that many points but he was an integral part of the build-up to their attacks.

I doubt about it. I read that Omicron may be beginning of the end of pandemic because it spreads fast and most part of population is going to face it. It has light symptoms, it's less deadly. But despite it that Omicron is flu basically, according to governments boosters is must needed, despite that it don't gives much protection against Omicron.
I think it's not useful for governemnts to end pandemic. It makes easier for them to keep people in fear and control them.
I don't even talk pharmacy industry, vaccines gives insane profits for them.
Vaccines are available for those that want them.  Masks are socially acceptable now for those who want to wear them.  All we need to do now is stop trying to force these vaccines and masks on people who don't want them in their lives and we can all move forward.
Vaccines and masks is available and acceptable, but unfortunately it's not optional thing, basically it's mandatory. You must wear mask when you enter shop or be vaccinated in order not to lose job. I wish that people would have choice, but governments have different opinion.

Last year, in 2020, the form of Covid-19 was the same as much as it was omnipresent.
I think it has been largely defeated by the end of 2021.

you know, many countries went into lockdown in January 2020.
The whole world came to a standstill, everyone was trapped in the house. People face economic losses, many have lost their jobs, and there are countless deaths.
But after the discovery of the vaccine, this stagnant state came to life, everything became lively again, So this year we have been able to reduce Covid, I think.

I grew up in a region where parents were brained washed to think that the polio vaccines were meant to decimate the number of people living in that region. And so they refused health care workers from administering the vaccines to their kids.  Guess what, over 20% of their kids are paralyzed. I understand people's qualms with government and the vaccine. However, right now, only people to trusts are the scientific community. Most of them are apolitical and their opinions are based in education, not off of politics, power, or money.
You people have to realize, it has been decided to vaccinate all people as soon as possible to prevent the omnivorous form of the coronavirus and to reduce mortality. The coronavirus can be eradicated through vaccines, but most people do not want to be vaccinated for fear of side effects.

You are right, the doctor could not persuade them to take the vaccine, of course, there are reasons for these different kinds of superstitions. Some peoples think if they took the vaccine, their religion will be ruined. These prejudices need to be eradicated and all people need to be vaccinated as soon as possible.

Omnivorous form of Covid? Is Covid now a flesh eating virus or something that attacks humans and plants? Some mutation.

No, Covid can not be eradicated through vaccines. We are no longer at the point where vaccines can stop transmission, they are only good for stopping hospitalization and death. The parameters keep shifting, and if you don't pay attention you might miss it.

To make the world a better place by eliminating corruption,

2220  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Teachers deserve more on: January 12, 2022, 05:11:44 PM
Without a doubt the teachers should be fundamental in the training but it is not the whole.

You can not leave all the complex training of our children to individuals who in many cases do not even have a vocation, if not they are there as a means of income, I am not criticizing it, it happens in any area of work, the vocation is magic, in that sense if we are lucky maybe in some of these training stages we will get a teacher who influences us for the rest of our lives.

I think that a complex society in which we live a good payment to teachers does not guarantee reciprocity in the teaching of our children, it is we as vigilantes who must look for the best options where those good teachers are.

In the long run, the best result is achieved in an economic solution from the macro and not punctual, that is, a beneficial economy and correct political management, surely it benefits everyone.

You know, teachers are called the artisans of nation-building, right? teaching is their great vow.

You know, a teacher not only imparts formal education to his students but also imparts knowledge and moral education to them as well as awakens a sense of humanity in them. He developed them as worthy citizens of the country, but teachers are not getting their due status despite playing such a big role, many of them are currently neglected, So they suffer from inferiority complex, even if they want to, they can't do many campaigns on their own initiative. Therefore, it is necessary to take initiative to establish the worthy status of teachers.
