Since it's still trading at close to $50 a coin I took a look at CoinEx which is the only exchange I have an account in that trades it they have a 10 block confirm for trading and 30 blocks to withdraw. Either they know something we don't or have a lot more confidence that there will not be a massive reorg. Does anyone else with an account at an exchange that still trades see anything different?

I don't see the point in taking the risk at the moment, but I guess you can say that about any coin that has low to mid hashrate with an abundance of ASICs out there.

The only thing that I will say to that is that *I* have done it (not here). For a while I had a friend in Poland who worked in a salvage yard who had access to some automotive parts that people here in the US wanted.

I wanted to help and make some money so I started an new account, on the Audi / VW forum. I was well known there as me and even helped run some events so I probably could have mode more $$$ had I let people know who the other account was.

But I wanted NOBODY to know who I was with the other account. Didn't need or want the hassle, didn't need the cross over crap (You said these ABS modules are junk why are you selling them?) and so on. DaveF was DaveF and PartMover2000 had nothing to do with him. Could see the same thing here even before the BitLucy, i.e. you said this casino was good and now I have having "X" problem with it, why don't you fix it?

Full disclosure, Royse777 did contact me to do some work, and I was gong to do it, just never had the time. Money was never discussed.

Writing the software is not a crime. Running may or may not be depending on what transactions went through. DELIBERATELY helping people who have sanctions against them is a crime. And here is where it gets murky, receiving funds from somebody with sanctions against them is also a crime. EVEN IF YOU DON'T KNOW IT. It's the ignorance is no excuse. Sucks, but that has been up and down the court system for years.

It's going in a good direction and it's a work in progress so he can keep updating it as we give more suggestions.
EVERYTHING is going to have some sort of vulnerabilities so long as they are being addressed as they are discussed.

The point of doing it this way seems to be the fact that you can download core, disconnect from the net and have a bit more security.
Not 100% perfect, but getting better. It boils down to what I said and you commented on about TCP/IP and services.

But, it also gets back to having a hardware wallet and PIN is vulnerable to the $5 wrench. ($6 wrench with inflation)

I know we discussed it on another thread here someplace but, it come back to the fact that if you are trading or doing anything really, on a centralized exchange or service like this you are always going to run the risk of something like this happening. Change the facts a bit and it can still happen for a "semi legitimate" reason if the exchange had to go to court for some reason and had to give the information to the court / other side of the lawsuit.

Once it's out there you never know what may be made public.

I would just ignore them and not feed the trolls by posting their junk here. The other thing you could do is just link to where they are posting and let anyone here who is motivated go over there and show the users there why that person is a scammer / troll.

Either way, it's probably a waste of time, some people will believe what they want to believe no matter what proof you show them otherwise. Since you said it's a conspiracy forum you probably can't get through their tinfoil hats anyway.....

Since it was mentioned earlier in the thread that only 9 nodes at the tip, it could be that a bunch of places were all puling data from the same place that shit the bed.

Or it could be someone trying to force a re-org and others fighting it and due to the massive chain bloat severs are just spinning themselves into oblivion, or it could be bad coding caused an issue. Fun to speculate but until the people running the public block explorers tell us, it's just conjecture.

Either way, it's interesting to watch.

I can see exchanges keeping it on so long as there is trade volume and they are making money. I have said it before and will say it again, that is what exchanges try to do, make money.  As soon as they see a coin as a real threat to that it is tossed.

Even if it was known to be a scam at the beginning they will still list something if they think they can make money on the trading fees.

But, there is a tipping point, if they think they can be really hurt by it, it's tossed like yesterdays trash. After all, once you list a coin the hard work is done, you just have to sit there and take the fees, shutting it off is just about no work at all.

Could be wrong but I think in general it's not gotten better, but the spammers have moved to places that a lot of us don't see because we don't frequent those sections.

I also think the reporting 'bots' that Mitchell and others are getting better. As they add more terms to them a lot of the things that may have been up for a longer that would have gotten reported and taken down are now removed before many people even see them.

Add in the fact that many of the older accounts that were popping back up to spam have been nuked / banned it is a bit better here.

Lets see if it gets any traction in the real world outside of big corporate miners.

I can see it slowly taking over as the manufactures start using it by default, but until you hit that critical mass point I see most people still using V1, I know a lot of people never even update the firmware on their miners unless thy wind up having an issue with something. For the small miners, there really is no advantage to all the additional overhead that it needs. And as with anything, the more features you add to something the more issues you will probably wind up with.

2 1/2 hours later it's a T-Mobile issue. I figured it was since I could make calls so the OS could talk to the esim. Turns out that if you don't use it for a while you miss updates to the programming and you have to have them refresh it. Important tip for the $10 / month spare phone in a draw thing. And Side Of Burritos drives a Honda Accord, was watching the video you linked to and I see that dashboard every day.

As for GrapheneOS I lied about the esim working, can't get calls in, I can only make outgoing. A physical sim works fine. I think it's a carrier issue, on hold with T-Mobile now. If you never hear from me again you know I died waiting for them to pick up. Watching some Side Of Burritos videos now.

If you bought when cards were at their highest with less then 6 months left on mining then you got what you deserved. Sorry, but you can't fix stupid.

Last spring (2021), I bought a couple of 2080Ti, mined with them for a YEAR and sold them this spring (2022) for close to 2x what I paid. There is no way the person who bought them could ever come close to making money.

I just about broke even mining in the year I had them and had I kept them would have been a few hundred dollars ahead when mining ended. So, it was definitely possible.

I would really like to see the entire concept of the pruned node removed. Either run a node or don't. There seem to be more and more people who want to have a node running on drives that don't have enough space that wind up going the pruned node route and then wonder why they can't import a private key or are having some other issue that comes back to the fact that you can't go back to a full node without re-downloading everything. Spinning 1TB drives are under $40.00 as are 512GB SSD it's no longer that big a deal.

Nope, it's a OnePlus Nord running LineageOS. You could not pay me to use an iPhone. OK, well if you give me enough I might use one, but I would still carry an Android device :-)
The battery was not fixable in software, 100% just a bad battery, it would heat up to the point of the phone shutting down even with a 2 amp charger. Was just a bad battery out of the box, it happens, but there was no way they tested it before shipping.

With that being said I put Graphene on the 4A late yesterday and it seems to be working. Had to jump through a few more hoops then listed here: https://grapheneos.org/usage#sandboxed-google-play-esim to get my esim working. Once that was good I went to bed, will do more testing later or tomorrow. At 1st use it seems slower then what was there stock, but it's been a while since I used that phone so I may be relating it more to what I have been using now. Threw them a donation since it's the right thing to do.

What loss? If they bought the ASICs / GPUs long enough ago they are paid for many times over. Even if you bought only a year before the merge if you had cheap enough power you were under 300 days for RoI on most ASICs and about the same for GPUs.
GPUs can and are still being sold off,  and as of now it looks to be more profitable running current or 1 gen out SHA ASICs then GPUs.

As for the other coins that can be mined with the ETH ASICs, it's a tough call. If you RoI already on them whatever you sell them off for is profit. Or, you can keep mining at a loss at the moment and hope those coins go up enough.

Businesses for the most part, if they know they can make money mining BTC but *may* make money mining something else but *will* make money selling the ASICs are going to sell the ASICs and mine BTC. That's just good business.

Actually I think there is a good portion of the hashrate out there now from places that were power limited and now that GPU mining is more or less dead they are running SHA (and other) ASICs and remember there were also a lot of ETH ASICs out there too that are now shut down freeing even more power for SHA.

I don't think people realize how many places have plenty of space and cooling but not enough power to fill the building and run wall to wall miners. But, they filled the building with miners and then did some math to figure out what to mine when and what to keep powered off.

As examplens said in the other thread relying on a specific IP address or set of them is not ideal. Also, IPv6 may actually get more and more traction with ISPs so you are going to have to deal with that. Although as others have mentioned a timestamp from the blockchain would be better, I am not 100% sure that it is going to be viable since if there is enough money involved people could probably put enough time into playing with local copies of the blockchain. And once again relying on external sources is going to mean that you are going to maintaining this software forever since services and APIs and whatever else are going to come and go and change how they work.

Don't get me wrong, it's a good idea but I think it's going to be a much bigger project then what it is now to cover all the possibilities. Kind of like a 3 of 4 multisig wallet. You need 3 of 4 things to prove the date
