2221  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Historical Bitcoin Prices😊 on: January 08, 2022, 07:51:00 PM

People get too frustrated when Bitcoin loses value, sometimes it might upset me too, but I'm trying not to worry too much. It has lost quite a lot in value in the past week, however, as someone who is aiming at long-term holding, I believe that Bitcoin will recover as soon as things get better with Omicron and the condition in Kazakhstan.
The condition of BTC with a significant decline in its price is enough to make a loss for many investors, but if you reverse this again, the problem is that the electricity demand is very large, causing many regions to prohibit mining.  Isn't this issue overstated?  Basically, electricity demand on earth is still dependent on cheap coal but it is not very environmentally friendly, regarding electricity that has not met the world's needs, you should not blame BTC and cause a bear market.  There are many things that should be supported, such as the news of Whatsapp accepting the presence of BTC by testing it in the USA.  So the market is also going up.

Certainly a factor I didn't weigh in, now that electricity costs have skyrocketed, while mining operations consume a tremendous amount of it, most of which are stemming from fossil fuels. Definitely, Bitcoin accounts for 0.5% of worldwide electricity, which isn't a small amount, the truth is that mining might have become unprofitable (or less profitable anyway) due to high cost of energy and could potentially set miners off.
2222  Economy / Economics / Re: Euro zone inflation hit a new record high of 5% in December on: January 08, 2022, 06:10:09 PM
Is 5% peak inflation, or will we see inflation at more than 10%?

Its not getting better. Its worse and worse with every next month. In some countries inside Euro zone inflation is already above 8% (f.e my country - Poland) and I can tell you that it will only skyrock from there. Mostly because we just had +20% energy price pump and +80% gas price pump. Some companies have received a gas price increase of several hundred percent. Almost all goods and services uses energy or gas (f.e to bake a bread). This will push prices of everything higher and higher in whole 2022. IMO pick of inflation will be in the fourth quarter of 2022 and in next year if ever (hyperinflation and devaluation scenario).
4.8% here in Greece, gas and electricity costs have increased tremendously the past few months, while I'm now seeing Brent's oil price is also climbing again. A few weeks ago, it went below $60, but now it's up to $82/barrel. The situation is only going to get worse in the future.

The government announced that there is an effort in covering some electric costs themselves (cost of MWH), I'm still skeptical on whether and if it's going to be implemented.

P.S We also got a 2% increase in salary, from 1st of January, we're now saved.(not)
2223  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Have you been infected with Covid-19? on: January 08, 2022, 04:03:31 PM
My sister-in-law and her husband and two kids got covid.

Both were vaccinated.  Kids recovered within 5 days.  Them, not so much.

The first 3 days were bad, then it got better for a week, they thought they beat it, but then, their
symptoms worsened: high fever, headaches, difficulty breathing, etc.

It has been 4 weeks since they all got infected, and they are still sick.

Thank God we convinced them to get vaccinated last summer. Otherwise, they both would probably be dead by now.
That's quite a long time to be sick, glad to know that they're doing better. I'm still trying to convince my parents to get vaccinated, especially my father who is quite old, but to no avail. If they eventually get sick, they won't go through it as easy as I did, which is worrying me, but they are not getting it. I hope they don't end up regretting it.
2224  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Have you been infected with Covid-19? on: January 08, 2022, 01:06:15 PM
I've had covid 19 and it took me 3 weeks to recuperate.
The symptoms I experienced were the same as what you mentioned, but what made the difference was that my sense of taste and smell when I was affected by COVID-19 really became dull. my nose can't smell at all even though the perfume is applied to the nose.
and my tongue can't taste the food but after 3 weeks my sense of smell and taste gradually returned and returned to normal.

from my experience covid 19 is not much different from the common cold. the difference is that our senses of smell and taste really don't seem to work.

and don't panic because in my experience it's not as dangerous as reported. because I managed to heal myself.

I quarantined myself for 3 weeks. and recovered without any strange drugs. I only take fever reducer. and eat lots of fruit.
Three weeks doesn't sound like a simple common cold. Anyway, I'm glad you're okay, I didn't have any loss of smell or taste, my girlfriend does have compromised taste though. Apart from fever and sore throat, I also felt (and still feel to some degree) disorientated, or a little off, not sure how to express it correctly. Anyway, I'm almost fine now, and I've returned to work, but still I'm getting this tiredness and dizziness feeling.
2225  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Historical Bitcoin Prices😊 on: January 07, 2022, 08:54:30 PM
~ It is a matter of time seeing bitcoin will hit $100k in 2022 as I am sure that bitcoin will go to that price. Meanwhile, we can feel satisfied with the current price because we can back sell some bitcoin and enjoy the profit with our family. This year gives more profit for me and I am sure we can make another profit in the next year so we can still hope while we keep trying to prepare ourselves for the next bull run.

It's nice to see that I'm not alone in thinking the same. Right now, when BTC is down by 7% in the last 7 days, it might look crazy to predict $100k this year, but if you read the history of Bitcoin price, you can see that there were times when people were saying that Bticoin will never reach $1 USD. I mean, it seemed as impossible as $100k seems right now. Smiley

Am not saying, sell everything and buy Bitcoin, but if you have some sats, try not to sell them at deep.
People get too frustrated when Bitcoin loses value, sometimes it might upset me too, but I'm trying not to worry too much. Thank you, I've recently read that despite Omicron variant being currently dominant, the analogy of cases between Delta and Omicron are approximately 60/40. Unfortunately, can't find the source of the article, its information could even be invalid as we speak. What's frustrating though is that I'm suddenly developing a fever, starting from early - late afternoon, every single day.

So this means the docs couldn't reliably determine which variant you have? That's seriously fucked up.
That's a long story, you'll need a PCR to identify the variant, I only took a Rapid Antigen Test, PCRs are costly, while even if you take one at a public hospital, which is a hassle process with long waiting hours to get tested, it's almost impossible to find someone who will answer that question. I can only speak regarding my area's hospital. Samples are sent to another hospital in a nearby city, taking hours to receive the results, while it's unknown who to contact in order to learn something so simple.

On top of that, the government's website is crap, the test result, along with its variant if positive, should be available online, using your social security number. Instead of that, you can only access negative PCR/Rapid test and generate a certificate, while in case of a positive result, it only prompts you to issue your certificate of recovery.
Im pretty sure i had a delta variant in the begining of last year. Symptoms were running nose, sore throat, and mostly brain fog. It lasted for 2 weeks or so and the brain fog was super bad, zero memory, unable to focus etc. Didnt have super high fever. Started to get scared because it didnt go away, and heard of long terme covid, started to throw all i could find as supplement, vitamin, herbals etc then eventually it went away.

I would not worry too much either but dont underestimate it either, take your vitamins, isolate, stay warm etc for it not to take root and not turning into a long covid which i read can still lead to some permanent damage.

Hope you recover soon take care.
Thank you, not sure which variant I got, Omicron sounds less intimidating than Delta, especially for those who are vaccinated. It's frustrating though, that I still get fever every day.
2227  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Have you been infected with Covid-19? on: January 06, 2022, 04:35:13 PM
Both my girlfriend and I have been infected with Covid-19, not sure which variant though. The disease was passed to us from one of her stupid friends, who was careless and was out drinking every night.  Symptoms include, headache, sudden fever (up to 38 C), sore throat and coughing, while my tonsils look swelled and inflamed.

This is the fourth day after I got diagnosed as positive, while the quarantine supposedly last 5 days. I highly doubt it that I'll be able to get back to work by Saturday. Have you been recently infected? What symptoms did you have, and how long did the infection last?

I know people who've been infected recently (in the UK), and it's all the omicron variant, which is sweeping through the population very rapidly. Check the data for your country, but it's likely omicron that you have. If so, it's relatively good news in that the symptoms for this variant are on average much less severe.

Forgot about work for a while. Hope you both get better soon.

2229  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Internet is down on Kazahstan, Bitcoin Hashrate drooped, Price affected? on: January 06, 2022, 10:45:50 AM
Connection to the price drop? Maybe yes and no.

I'm more curious why there's a need to touch the internet if the rally is all about the gas prices. But if the connection to the price drop of bitcoin is due to the hash rate, then eventually, as usual, it will recover.

I didn't even know that there's riot and protests that happened there and if I haven't seen this thread, I'm total ignorant of the current political issue there.
It's certainly frustrating, since there isn't a direct answer regarding what caused such drop. Is it concerning? Yes, is it worrying me? No, well, not yet. Waking up to such a drop is definitely scaring, I'm aiming for long-term returns, thus, I am not too worried yet.

Despite not being too affected by the situation, I'm hoping that the market recovers in the following weeks
2230  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Covid-19 Vaccine side effects on: January 05, 2022, 03:35:33 PM
In all seriousness, I'll consider locking the topic if this situation continues. The majority of the posts here are from the largest conspiracy theorists on the whole forum, Tash and tvbof, who are constantly spamming nonsense on the thread. It's fine, you have a different opinion about vaccines, Covid-19 and so on. To be honest, I don't actually care, you do you. However, continuously posting gibberish is plain annoying, bashing your opinion (without even providing valid sources) in our face isn't changing anything, while you're making the entire topic counterproductive.
2231  Other / Politics & Society / Re: ARE WE SEEING COVID-19 BEEN DEFEATED/BEATEN THIS YEAR ?! on: January 05, 2022, 10:47:16 AM
Want to end Covid? Turn off the news. There, Covid's over.

for you to think covid only effects the news, means that YOUR only ignorant and limited source of info is said news.. maybe you should turn off your source first. and then get out of your house and speak to doctors and nurses in ICU wards actually dealing with sick people

no i dont mean your homeopathic witch doctor offering herbal supplements and back massages as cures for cancer. i mean real medical doctors treating real patients on real icu wards

i really laugh if you think the only experience anyone has of getting sick from covid is watching tv.. utter moron to think thats the only place people experience things.

if the news is scaring you then yes switch it off.. or atleast do some research.. but dont think that switching off the news makes the virus vanish.. a cure for the virus is not a flip of a button on a remote control.

in the UK during september-november there were ~850 average a day admissions to hospital.. in december this number was rising to 1900 admissions a day.

if you think that omicron is less of a problem than delta or alpha or beta,  then you really are looking at the wrong sources of information

yes 3x people are getting infected and so far only 2.2x are going to hospital.. but those numbers are not 0
Both my girlfriend and I have been infected with Covid, not sure which variant, they never told us. We've been at home for the past week, had mild fever (38 C ~) the first days, and would often randomly spike out of the ordinary. My throat is extremely sore, and my girlfriend is coughing terribly. It's an awful experience that you can't even visit the supermarket and have to have someone to do it for you. We were both vaccinated with two doses, and would have received the third one within January.

On top of that, the hospital here is almost full of cases, getting assistance is tremendously difficult, since they are fed up with the situation. I've got a few acquaintances which were unvaccinated and also got infected, some of them are in a terrible condition.

From my point of view, this winter is crucial in the pandemic's course, while it's possible that we still have a long way to go.
2232  Economy / Reputation / Re: 1 Year later, setting new goals on: January 05, 2022, 09:20:36 AM
OP, I'm not sure why this thread is on the reputation board, shouldn't this be on the economic board if I review the flow from the discussion?
I like it when you have a purpose why you should be here to be active again. I and most other people also have a goal why we are in the forum, just like you, we have to achieve it sooner or later.

I originally posted it on "Bitcoin Discussion", but it was later moved to the Reputation board, not on my request, probably by a moderator.

Likewise, I regret not being more active here in the past, definitely missed a handful of opportunities, either from signature campaigns, to investment information/advice. Now, I'm trying to win back time and advance as much as possible.
2233  Economy / Reputation / Re: 1 Year later, setting new goals on: January 03, 2022, 12:18:01 PM
Ah you have to be really disciplined to make gains gambling, something hope
to achieve this year and the signature campaigns are indeed really helpful.

Do you ever just buy Bitcoin on a regular basis like weekly or monthly?
I have been doing this for the last 4 years on and off

Trading is not for everyone, I tried that too but couldnt devote enough time
to it, didnt have the skills required and didnt make gains at all.
Not actually hoping on making money through gambling, I've a few thousand satoshi there, which I use just for the sake of playing games. I haven't purchased any Bitcoin, any amount I have is accumulated mostly through signature campaigns. Even in the past, I had started from scratch, with zero starting capital.

As I've mentioned before, I also used to trade, but stopped due to it being too risky and nerve racking.
2234  Economy / Economics / Re: Why all people moan about the price of bitcoin? on: January 02, 2022, 10:26:17 PM
If people complain about the price of bitcoin, then they are interested in its price and are its holders. Basically, people buy bitcoin, so that later it is profitable and more expensive to resell. Of course, after we witnessed a rise in the price of bitcoin at the end of 2017, many people want to see a sharp increase in its price again. Now the cryptocurrency market is practically without movement. Yes, the impatient will now be nervous and indignant.
I think they are basically complaining because the BTC market for December expected it to reach $ 100k or $ 150k according to many experts even on Wall Street, but since the opposite has happened, many who put themselves in Long lost their position or simply liquidated their positions , especially those that were highly leveraged.

If we take the news into account, this is what happens, when many believe that an event will happen, if it will happen but exactly the opposite, this is normal, it is a trap of the whales to be able to earn more money, for this reason if the mass believe one thing will happen the opposite, it is not surprising that for January or February the movement that everyone expected for December could occur.

Experts? I don't take any so-called experts into account, neither do I for such predictions. It's not a weather forecast, you can't exactly expect Bitcoin to reach $100.000, within such a small timeframe and then be disappointed if it doesn't. Generally, predictions aren't accurate, that's why I'm not following them, I don't see much point. I'm used to such price volatility, and I've learned not to be too bothered by it.
2235  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin collapse or mature? on: January 02, 2022, 08:53:31 PM
I think the stability level of bitcoin has been tested, bitcoin has died many times in the market, but because the resilience of bitcoin is getting bigger and bigger, if because of the correction we say that bitcoin is finished, then how are their conditions when they first appeared in crypto, sometimes -sometimes it's this correction that makes bitcoin and other coins big pumps, so there's no need to worry too much in these kind of market conditions, because bitcoin has gone through other problems that are much bigger than now.
People will say bitcoin "will die" all the time, there is no stopping that. https://99bitcoins.com/bitcoin-obituaries/ look at this website and you will see only a portion of it, not the whole time it has been said that it will die but you will see it from major outlets there. Even up until the last days of 2021 people talked about how it is a scam and it will end in tears and we all know that it is not true.

Some people will keep on claiming they know who satoshi is, how bitcoin will be zero and how they are going to end up losing all of their money if they invest to bitcoin and all of that. There is none of that going on in real life, these people are just "hoping" that it would happen. Bitcoin will always survive.
What would you expect from those who don't even know bitcoin from the start? Of course, they always see it as a temporary hype that will definitely come to an end or collapse in the long run. But for bitcoin enthusiasts, we know that bitcoin will only mature and will continue to create progress in every year that comes. Seeing also that we are now starting to create massive adoption, then bitcoin will certainly be a part of financial system legally in the long run.
I don't see any temporary hypes here, Bitcoin has been soaring for the past 1.5 years, even if it crashes further down, it's still way higher than 2021's lowest point, and still higher than 2020's ATH. Price volatility is expected, and to be honest, I'm pretty used to this up and down situation. Sometimes it sucks seeing your money being "drained", but I've already seen it grow multiple times. I don't get why some people are so negative. It's logical to be skeptical, unsure or afraid, but being blunt that Bitcoin is a bubble, without having the evidence to back it up, is pure nonsense.

I'm not surprised to see that there are still people who believe that it's all a bubble about to burst.

That there are people who know that it's all a bubble already bursting shouldn't be surprising, since it's been proved by confirmed math and science.
I beg to know more information about these people who have proved that it's all a bubble. I'd like to know what part of math and science is proving that Bitcoin is a bubble, about to burst. Despite rumors and assumptions, I'm yet to see any solid evidence, as you're mentioning.

On top of that, you didn't answer my question regarding where you're standing on this forum, since you don't sound like a Bitcoin supporter.
2237  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin collapse or mature? on: January 02, 2022, 06:20:36 PM
It 100% is collapsing. It'll still take a few years for it to completely go away, but that's where it's confirmed to be headed.
I'm wondering how you came to such conclusion, where has it been confirmed, as you're mentioning. That's your opinion, I get it, I'm not going to force mine on you, however, I don't get why you're a member of this forum, if all you do is bash about Bitcoin? What's exactly your point?

It 100% is collapsing. It'll still take a few years for it to completely go away, but that's where it's confirmed to be headed.
You're wrong, I will bet all my assets on this.  Bitcoin has been stronger and has been trending everywhere.

Don’t pay too much attention to our FUD troll, he’s been wrong for years, but that doesn’t stop him from still claiming to know what’s going to happen. The only thing that has been confirmed is that some things are not really right in his head.
People have been talking crap about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in general for years, I'm not surprised to see that there are still people who believe that it's all a bubble about to burst.
2238  Economy / Reputation / Re: 1 Year later, setting new goals on: January 02, 2022, 05:06:51 PM
... I recovered my old wallet and started trading immediately. I made a few mistakes, which I shouldn't have done, but they were a result of amusement and poor management. Eventually, I stopped trading, because I couldn't handle its pressure, and put most of my money in DeFi/Staking, which had a great turnover, within a short time frame.

How are you accumulating Bitcoin?
Signature campaigns are the main source, I may gamble here and there, with small amounts of BTC, but that doesn't really count I guess.

I congratulate you because it seems that you are accomplishing what you set out to do, but I miss something more than the monetary aspect. For example: you could have said that you are going to learn more about the technical aspects of Bitcoin or that you expect to reach Hero member in X time (approximate).

To go back to what you are saying, if your goal is to accumulate, I would recommend that you do not trade, which for most people is like playing roulette, and do not gamble either. Even if you gamble small amounts, casino games have a negative mathematical expectation. Better to squander fiat and stack any sat you can. Saving as much Bitcoin as you can is a boring but very safe way to build wealth compared to the thrills of trading and gambling.
Thank you, I'm patient on what I'm doing, it's an extremely slow process to be honest, but it's definitely worth it. Likewise, I've stopped trading because it was way too risky and nerve racking for my liking. I used to earn a decent amount with each trade, but it did take a toll on me when I made a couple of mistakes.

As for gambling now, I'm using microamounts of BTC (1-2 mBTC), which I've slowly accumulated through games, I'm not planning to deposit any more nor do I do it daily.
2239  Economy / Reputation / Re: 1 Year later, setting new goals on: January 02, 2022, 03:41:27 PM
How are you accumulating Bitcoin?

Well done for sticking to your goal and following it through, I dont normally
set goals for myself and I wouldnt class myself as a high achiever but this year I
am determined to spend less and buy more Bitcoin but no goal for an amount.
Signature campaigns are the main source, I may gamble here and there, with small amounts of BTC, but that doesn't really count I guess.
My goal for one year from now, is to gather 0.08 BTC in total, which is relatively realistic. Even if I manage to achieve 70% of my goal, I'll be satisfied.

I totally like the ideas of setting goals just as you have done, it is an attitude and approach that other members of this forum should be encouraged to emulate. Also i think the possibility of achieving this goal is there and not just 70% but 100% with just proper anticipation of the obstacles and challenges you will face to this your goals especially as it regards accumulating more btc. Be ready to say "no" to a lot of wants and demands from people that may serve as hindrance to your goal. Best of luck in meeting your goals, Happy New Year.
I was quite far from achieving 100%, but as I've already said, that's okay. I've made a handful of mistakes I could have avoided, but it's all a part of the learning process. I'd be happy if I achieve a 70-80% of my next goal, just want to keep trying for the best result.

Hello and happy new year

This isn't going to be a post about new year resolutions, new year, new me and yada yada. This is actually a celebration post, about my return to Bitcointalk, which took place in 2nd of January 2021. A whole year had passed, and I'll be honest, I don't regret a thing. Throughout that year, I made plenty of mistakes, but also had an abundance of positive experiences.

I had completely abandoned Bitcoin after 2017-2018, which I kind of regret doing, till I saw a post about Bitcoin, recovering and surpassing $20.000+ again. That was it, I recovered my old wallet and started trading immediately. I made a few mistakes, which I shouldn't have done, but they were a result of amusement and poor management. Eventually, I stopped trading, because I couldn't handle its pressure, and put most of my money in DeFi/Staking, which had a great turnover, within a short time frame.

When I rejoined the forum, I set a goal to accumulate 0.05 BTC from scratch, without taking into account any other funds I previously had. So far, I've accumulated 0.028 BTC, which is actually more than half of what I've anticipated, but that's okay. My goal for one year from now, is to gather 0.08 BTC in total, which is relatively realistic. Even if I manage to achieve 70% of my goal, I'll be satisfied.

Overall, this has been a great experience, and Bitcointalk has given me amazing opportunities and there are plenty more to come in the upcoming future.
