So today, I am in favor of using the WoS. It's smooth and works well. But yeah... custodial solution... For small amounts, I don't mind. Compared to the amount of money people keep in exchanges, it's tiny. I haven't tried it, but you can probably fund it from an exchange directly. Some say USE Lightening Network if you have tech skills and are prepped you can try it. If you don't have tech skills, use any of the easy LN mobile wallets. Phoenix Wallet for instance (although on-chain channel opening is costly at the moment), or one of the custodial wallets (but only risk small amounts in them) so you don't need anything on-chain. For instance: Wallet of Satoshi. Then use your favourite low-fee altcoin to get LN-funds from an instant exchanger. |

It shows 200 sats as a possible working fee. That's how you end up paying $90 for a small transaction (923 bytes) with 6 legacy inputs. I hate to say it, but Bitcoin is useless for sending transactions at the moment. |

The reason I wanted a new wallet was because of the increase of fee and mycelium does not support lightning network I don?t want to spend $13 for a $30 coin. With such low value, I'd use Ian Coleman's site, and import just the funded private key into Electrum. Onces fees are lower, send the funds to a new (HD) Electrum wallet. After this, consider your Mycelium seed compromised and never use it again. I have seen all three in my mycelium but I used “bc1” to receive my coin. My (default) Mycelium uses m/84'/0'/0'/0/1. |

You may want to read LoyceV's Bitcoin Fork claiming guide (and service). Don't look at the Forkcoin prices in that topic, but the other information is still valid. Last time I checked, BCH, BSV and eCash don't have replay protection. Get some Fork dust on each chain, and include that in your transaction to prevent replaying on another chain. I used to include BTG and BCD too. Depend on how many coins you had it may or may not be worth the effort. Don't forget eCash, which is a BCH Fork but still worth something. 1. Send the BTC to a fresh hardware wallet, wait for it to confirm. It's now safe. Correct. Even better if you include offline signing. No need to risk your private keys on a hot wallet. 2. Now download whatever fork wallets and claim those. I wouldn't trust them on my main system. I prefer to use either a VM or a dedicated laptop that I wipe after each Forkcoin. 3. Send forks wherever and swap for BTC. That's the way. Are there any safe non-KYC exchanges where I can do the swaps? They exist, but I don't dare make recommendations. Do your own research, and don't trust them with more than you're willing to lose. |

As a campaign manager I think our job is to balance the marketing budget and the ROI. Sinbad was a prime example of a successful brand until ... This is bad! When someone is unable to pay campaign participants it is not wise to discuss how much per post you can pay. I thought he was busy finding a solution to the ongoing issue. I don't think raising pay rates right after theymos announced mixers will be banned is a smart thing, and I don't think increasing advertising efforts is correct use of the month given: To avoid disruption, there will be a grace period: Nothing will change until Jan 1, 2024. I'd expect a more careful approach towards mixers from someone who's in possession of banned funds. |

As an alternative, you can just backup your wallet data. That's how Bitcoin Core backups work: copy your wallet file to a USB stick, test it, and make another backup on a different brand stick. Then, just to be use, make a new copy on a new stick every year.

It seems to me that ChioMixer was a genuine effort for Bitcoin privacy, while Sinbad was an operation made to mix the operators legitimate coins. It could be. If the bad guys were in charge of Sinbad, that explains why they were quickly trusted enough to send them millions of dollars worth of Bitcoin. Pretty much anything can be used for good or evil, but starting a business for evil is very different than a legitimate business being abused. But if you don't back up your wallet. Can they still hack your wallet then? This is too dumb to even discuss. Even hard drive failure will make you lose your wallet. You have different risks, and need to reduce all of them. It's always a balancing act between the risk of losing access by yourself, and the risk of someone else gaining access. The latter can be both physical (to your device or the seed phrase you wrote down) or online (unless you use a proper cold wallet). Until now, I haven't found the perfect solution. But I do have different wallets for different purposes. |

Only solution is to always memorize your address (the last part). The only solution is the check the entire address. Address reuse is bad for privacy anyway, so memorizing the address doesn't make sense. |

I don't get this: if you send your non taxable coins through a mixer, how do you prove it's non taxable? You make it sound as if the tax office is searching for blockchain evidence. Which government department does that? They don't search for that, but the burden of proof is on me. If they question my taxes, I'll have to be able to prove where the money came from. - Mixer URLs will be automatically wordfiltered out, but you can still discuss mixers otherwise.
* Existing accounts will be banned from posting, but will be allowed to continue sending/receiving PMs for at least a few months so they can settle any business.

I can't find an English review for this exact model, but my Intenso USB stick is faster than what you get. Could the format be an issue? My disk is exfat The filesystem matters, but not for raw speed tests. |

No my IBD is finished and my node is stopped. So essentially my RPi is connected to an SSD which has the whole bitcoin-core structure, but bitcoind is not running. Which SSD do you have exactly? I'm just guessing here: is it possible you're using a very low quality USB cable? Have you tried Gnome Disks? It has a Benchmark feature. Or have a look at GSmartControl, see if it can give you a reason for the low speed. I also ran fstrim -v on the mounted directory and it trimmed some data, but it didn't work afterwards. I mean no amelioration was seen. That shouldn't matter for " hdparm -tT", it doesn't use the file system. |

Timing buffered disk reads: 62 MB in 4.67 seconds = 13.28 MB/sec Isn't it too slow for an SSD ? Especially the second timer. Most microSD cards are faster than this nowadays. It should be 10 times faster:  Did you run your disk speed test during IBD? If so, that's probably why it's slow. The type of SSD matters too: some perform just as you'd expect, and others are only fast "in short burst", and after writing the burst data, it gets much slower, up to the point that combined read and writes can make the entire system freeze for a while. That doesn't matter much for normal computer usage, but it matters a lot during heavy tasks (such as the IBD). |
