1421  Economy / Reputation / Re: Should Ratimov aka Symmetrick be in DT1? on: December 20, 2023, 06:17:15 PM
Where does it say that if you think a deal with a user is high risk but he already has two feedbacks he doesn't need any more?
In my post Tongue
Seriously though, it's up to any potential trade partner to make apply their own judgement of the feedback on an account. I used neutral so it's a warning without harsh consequences. That may change in the future, but I wouldn't be surprised if Ratimov doesn't return.

Quote
I completely disagree with this. Feedback have a date and for me if someone had a successful trade with Ratimov in the past he should not delete what he wrote, simply if he thinks he is high risk now he should add negative feedback as of today.
I'd say: "it depends". User yogg went from +32 / =0 / -0 a year ago to #  +13 / =0 / -43 now. This means the majority of DT removed their positive feedback.
On the other hand, there's this account, where RHavar left positive feedback in 2016, and negative feedback in 2019. This way, it shows a timeline of events and going from trusted to untrusted.

Quote
You are asking others to do what you do not want to do: to enhance the danger of trading risk. You prefer it to be enhanced by deleting old positive feedback instead of adding current negative feedback.
It's more that I don't think the old feedback still applies.

I guess we agree to disagree on this.
Agreed Smiley I love democracy Smiley

So.... is it wrong or correct for WO's to be so overly bullish on BTC ?
Neither. There is no such thing as being "overly bullish" when it comes to Bitcoin.
1423  Economy / Reputation / Re: Should Ratimov aka Symmetrick be in DT1? on: December 20, 2023, 11:36:17 AM
If trading with Ratimov Symmetrick is high risk then shouldn't this feedback be a negative one though?
Of course. And LoyceV is well aware of it.
I considered it, but I also try to be conservative with negative feedback. For now, I think 2 DT-negatives are already a strong warning for anyone not to deal with the account.
We'll see if the sponsorship-thing turns into a Flag by one of the winners next month. If it's created, I'll probably Support it.
1424  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Outrageous Bitcoin Fees on: December 20, 2023, 11:23:26 AM
You see that some coins go back to my own wallet
That's change, and that's normal. But: your transaction included 3 inputs. If you would have used Coin Control, you could have picked only the largest inputs instead of consolidating all of them. That would have lead to a smaller transaction, and saved money on fees. Coin Control means manually choosing which inputs you use. You can do this for instance in Electrum or Bitcoin Core.

Quote
If I used ViaBTC will it confirm faster and also help me save some satoshi?
It depends: you could save on the transaction fee, at the risk of not getting through. And ViaBTC counts bytes instead of vbytes, which means 3 inputs may or may not be above the 500 byte limit already. It won't be faster than paying a high fee, but it will be faster than waiting for fees to drop if you paid a low fee.

Quote
I saw ViaBTC had some free accelator every ihour very kind of them. But if I want to use a service like this where I can pay and use it more often. Is the best way to register at ViaBTC and make a deposit?
No. Paid transaction accelerators are a last resort: it's definitely (much) more expensive than paying a high enough on-chain transaction fee, using RBF or using CPFP.
1425  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Slow Bitcoin transaction, will it be a major issue in the future? on: December 20, 2023, 10:38:50 AM
Statistics have it that the world population of those that own Bitcoin is 2.74%
Don't believe everything you read online. That would make it over 200 million people, which is 4 times more than the number of funded Bitcoin addresses.
1426  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Outrageous Bitcoin Fees on: December 20, 2023, 10:35:26 AM
Do you think this fee's is the new normal or is it just tempoary?
I don't know.

Quote
if i have many small inputs and then move all my Bitcoin to another wallet. Do I then only have one big input?
Only if you move them in one transaction. It sounds like you should learn how Bitcoin transaction inputs work, looking around on a block explorer may help.

Quote
And is that worth doing if I am planning to hold my Bitcoin for long time.
You're late to the party. At current fees, it's not the right time to consolidate small inputs.
1427  Other / Meta / Re: BRC20 tokens are altcoins on: December 20, 2023, 10:29:05 AM
I'm pretty sure they know already that introducing a minimum transaction fee that's high enough to discourage the creation of these token would go a long way to solve this
Spammers already pay $40 to create dust transactions. How high do you want to set the minimum fee?
1428  Economy / Reputation / Re: Should Ratimov aka Symmetrick be in DT1? on: December 20, 2023, 09:57:19 AM
I left Ratimov (now Symmetrick*) neutral feedback:
Quote
I'll counter all the positive feedback Ratimov received. He deleted half his Merited posts, all feedback and Flag Support. He changed his nickname. After lots of name calling, he ignored all accusations made against him. He stopped posting in English. Some say the account changed ownership. He backed out of a $1600 sponsorship. I don't know what's going on, but I'm certain his attitude towards the forum changed. Let me put it this way for users who left positive feedback: would you trust this account again now? I don't. I think trading with this person is high-risk. Read the Reference topic.
I had to squeeze it to fit the 600 character limit.

For anyone who left Ratimov positive feedback in the past: Let me put it this way: would you trust Ratimov again now? I think "trading with this person is high-risk" applies at the moment, and for that, changing historic positive feedback can help protect others.

* Normally, I respect name changes for privacy, but in this case, I don't think it's right to change your username right before you abandon the English boards and shortly after that stop posting entirely.
1429  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will the transaction fee will high if I send small amount under $50 on: December 20, 2023, 09:02:25 AM
when I use safepal wallet (not recommended)
Side question: why do you use it if it's not recommended?

Quote
or something I have not learned yet?
My advice: get a wallet that supports Coin Control. If possible, select an input that doesn't require any change.

That being said: if you have 0.0016 Bitcoin in your wallet, you should probably not spend it at all if fees take up 20% of that amount. Just wait for better times.

I guess it depends on the time zones, the traffic varies.
You are correct. I noticed ViaBTC's accelerator availability indeed varies during the day.

Tor Browser's settings erase all cookies, history, site data, cache, and the like by default and there is no way to change it.
It can be changed, there's a tickbox:
Code:
Delete cookies and site data when Tor Browser is closed
1431  Other / Meta / Re: Mixers to be banned on: December 19, 2023, 04:14:38 PM
the word filtered site is replaced wherever it is found with [banned site]. But in the case of mixers, their sites aren't banned, maybe theymos will coin another phrase for the mixers.
The sites will be banned from Bitcointalk, which means [banned site] covers it.
1432  Other / Archival / Re: ➡️➡️ [ANN] | [banned mixer] | BITCOIN MIXER ⬅️⬅️ on: December 19, 2023, 04:10:41 PM
Modern browsers use secure cookie files, and there is nothing to be afraid of in their storage.
Except for linking all your visits to a certain website, which is bad for privacy.

Quote
In the standard build of the TOR browser
The default of Tor browser is a lot better: it doesn't store cookies:
Cookies are only valid for a single session (until Tor Browser is exited or a New Identity is requested).

it is not possible to transfer information about cookie files from one site to another.
The privacy risk involves more than just "other sites": it includes not telling any site that you've visited it before.
In short: cookies are bad for privacy, no matter what's in there.
1433  Other / Meta / Re: BRC20 tokens are altcoins on: December 19, 2023, 04:01:21 PM
The point is BRC-20 are not altcoins.
That's because they're not coins at all, they're tokens:
Quote from: theymos in 2017
A cryptocurrency is self-sufficient, not relying on any other cryptocurrency to function (not including merged mining), and requiring its own software. A token works like a cryptocurrency at a high level, but relies on some other cryptocurrency's infrastructure in order to function, and often (but not necessarily always) lacks its own software.
~
Example 2
You pick out 1 BTC and split it into 100 million satoshi. Each satoshi represents some part of a real-world thing, and gets a special ticker symbol. This is a token because it is completely reliant on Bitcoin's block chain to function.
The interesting part is: theymos posted this on the Tokens (Altcoins) board.

We may need a "Tokens (Bitcoin)" board for this. But at the moment, that would make it look if Bitcointalk is encouraging the blockchain spam. I'd say we need that board once there's a real-world application for Bitcoin Tokens.
1434  Other / Meta / Re: Mixers to be banned on: December 19, 2023, 01:34:39 PM
Is this thread an example of how the wordfilter will be implemented later ?
That would be my guess. And it instantly shows a flaw: the URL is still visible in an image. Many ANN topics use images to display the content, so maybe they should be wiped too. Or at least from the OP of locked threads.
1435  Other / Meta / Re: BRC20 tokens are altcoins on: December 19, 2023, 01:31:32 PM
Yet they are still on the Bitcoin blockchain and not an altcoin blockchain.
Correct. And there it's called dust. Or spam. Let's say I start calling one of my inputs "My Precious". Even though that input is on the Bitcoin blockchain, it makes no sense to create topics about My Precious on the Bitcoin boards.

As to Vod's trust list - he might "trust" some users, but they choose not to trust him.
It shows he doesn't use his Trust list to retaliate on those users. Why would you even bring that up?
1437  Other / Archival / Re: ➡️➡️ [ANN] | [banned mixer] | BITCOIN MIXER ⬅️⬅️ on: December 19, 2023, 11:56:35 AM
The user's browser stores a unique cookie that persists even after closing the browser.
Really? People come looking for privacy but don't wipe the cookies from their Tor browser?
1438  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will the transaction fee will high if I send small amount under $50 on: December 19, 2023, 10:09:53 AM
Have you tried it recently? They changed to a new captcha not so long ago, after which the transaction accelerator was available most of the hour. It used to tell me I beat 95% of the users with the captcha. Now, it tells me I beat 8% of the captcha, and the accelerator is instantly unavailable. So I can only conclude bots fill it up. Maybe someone created a paid service that relies on ViaBTC.
1439  Other / Meta / Re: BRC20 tokens are altcoins on: December 19, 2023, 10:02:44 AM
First of all, they're on the Bitcoin blockchain.
That's true, but I'd argue it's irrelevant. They have no meaning on the Bitcoin blockchain other than "Bitcoin dust". The "meaning" comes from whatever a third party made up.
1440  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Outrageous Bitcoin Fees on: December 19, 2023, 09:57:08 AM
To avoid high fee's can you go around the system or something or you can just wait or use another currency?
It depends on what you're trying to do. If you have 20 small inputs, it's best to wait. If you want to make a small payment, any low-fee altcoin can do.
I hate seeing Bitcoin this unusable!

And LoyceV. I would like to ask you one thing about something else. Is it okay if I send you a PM so I don''t spam here more?
Sure. Or find a topic where it fits better.
