2261  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: December 12, 2020, 10:29:46 AM
The people of India love cricket. But they are very aggressive. They celebrate India's victory, but can't accept India's defeat easily. The Indian board also does not want India to perform poorly on a platform like the World Cup. You said that there is no better candidate in the Indian team than Virat Kohli. I think Rohit Sharma should be given a chance.

A few years back, I used to like the captaincy of Virat Kohli. Back then, he used to combine aggression with good tactics. But nowadays, his aggression has given way to bullying and nepotism. And when someone deviates from their core principles, the performance also goes down. The team bonding suffers when the captain himself is accused of bias and nepotism.

West Indies trail by 361 runs, 5 wickets in hand. Only set batsman at the pitch Blackwoood, batting with 60 runs after 84 delivery and Holder on his side. Are West Indies team repeat the same story or the batsman rescue them unless another big defeat which is absolutely pathetic to see WI unable to give a fight.

At the end of second day's play, West Indies trail by 336 runs, with just two wickets remaining. Two debutants are at the crease - Joshua Da Silva and Chemar Holder. As of now, West Indies look completely incapable of playing test format. They are still very good in T20, and to an extent ODI formats. But time and again, it has been proved that they can't compete in the test format.
2263  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cambodia enacts new laws related to gambling. on: December 11, 2020, 08:33:43 AM
As far as I know, most of the gamblers in Cambodia originate from China. These gamblers are rushing to Cambodia because of various factors, and low tax rate is definitely one of the factors. If they increase the taxes by too much, then the Chinese gamblers may just go to Laos or Myanmar instead of Cambodia. I hope the Cambodian government is not that stupid to kill the goose, which lays golden eggs.

Its obvious that some matches between these countries will be one sided and other will be thrillers. You will not find all the matches to be nail biting one. Even, you will find some one sided matches between England, Australia and India too but the ratio will be less.

When was the last time you had witnessed a one sided match between England, Australia or India? This why I have argued in favor of two divisions of test cricket. The first division should comprise of 4 teams, i.e the Pig 3 + New Zealand. The second division should comprise of the remaining 8 teams. This should help in reducing the incidence of one sided matches. We can even have 3 divisions, with 4 teams each.

India vs England Series schedule is out. It used to be 5 tests match series but this time they are playing only 4 Tests, may be due to covid?

4 Test Match Series

1st Test -  5 Feb-9 Feb, Chennai
2nd Test - 13 Feb-17 Feb, Chennai
3rd Test - 24 Feb - 28 Feb, Ahmedabad -DayNight
4th Test -  4 Mar-8 Mar, Ahmedabad

5 T-20 Match Series

1st - March 12, Motera, Ahmedabad
2nd  - March 14, Motera, Ahmedabad
3rd - March 16, Motera, Ahmedabad
4th - March 18, Motera, Ahmedabad
5th - March 20, Motera, Ahmedabad

3 ODI Match Series

1st- March 23, Pune
2nd- March 26, Pune
3rd- March 28, Pune

Well.... let me put it this way - 20 days of test cricket, 5 days of T20 and 3 days of ODI. So once again, the emphasis is given to the longer format. I am not sure whether they should play more than 3 test matches per bilateral series. They could have instead scheduled two more ODI matches. I am a big supporter of triangular/quadrangular series, but as of now it looks as if the BCCI is not interested in such tournaments.
2266  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Your Life After 10 years in Bitcoin... on: December 10, 2020, 01:06:22 PM
I've only known bitcoin since 2016 and now it's been around 4 years. My life has changed considerably so far, I can buy some things I want and also be able to meet my daily needs including paying electricity bills and internet bills. For me that is enough.

The first time I invested in Bitcoin was also in 2016. I don't remember the exact date, but it was either in November or December. It was a life changer, to put in simple words. Earlier I was struggling to pay my utility bills and I had almost zero savings (despite working for almost 70 hours per week). The Bitcoin rally of 2017 changed everything. I was able to build my savings, and now I am even able to help my family members and friends. Passive income from Bitcoin now amounts to around $200 per month. And while this may be very insignificant for those who are residing in the developed nations, here in my village it is like three months salary.
2267  Economy / Economics / Re: 2021 not Looking good on: December 10, 2020, 12:58:19 PM
It is true, we shouldn't take a pessimistic view after the success of the covid-19 vaccine. The economy won't recover after a year or two, but it should get better, especially the services and tourism industries. About bitcoin and digital currencies, the market is unstoppable this year, so there are definitely more breakthroughs next year. All predictions are just sentimental, expecting 2021 success.

I don't expect sectors such as tourism and air travel to recover in 2021. Vaccination is going to take a lot of time, and only after the majority of the world population is vaccinated, we can expect the tourist industry to start its recovery. Also, a lot of the potential tourists are facing financial crunch as a result of the pandemic, and they may be forced to shelve their vacation plans for 2021.
2268  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Spend or HODL Bitcoin during COVID-19? on: December 10, 2020, 12:40:44 PM
My opinion is that COVID 19 hardly had any impact on the cryptocurrency sector. So it should not play any part in deciding whether you should hold or sell your coins. In my opinion, it will be quite foolish to sell your coins right now. Because mainstream adoption is on the rise, and this will translate to higher demand, and thereby higher prices during the next 6-12 months.
2269  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Floyd Mayweather vs. Logan Paul - February 20 on: December 10, 2020, 12:27:19 PM
Floyd had always been fighting all for the money, I hope that Floyd does have a charity that he supports so that all the money he makes in his exhibition matches proceeds somewhere else. He is retired and he is rich, he should stop making money for himself. In my own opinion Floyd fights are not that much appealing anymore since he is already retired and not defending any belts anymore.

ROFL. You have no right to demand that someone should stop working. Floyd still commands a loyal fanbase numbering in millions. And he is not forcing anyone to watch his fights, so that he could get more money in his pocket. You are just being jealous of someone who is earning handsomely even in his 40s. And whether he wants to donate is money to charity or not, is up to him to decide.
2270  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: December 10, 2020, 11:40:50 AM
I think upcoming T-20 WC might change the tide. If India lose then there are high chance of Shastri getting sacked as no one in BCCI holds favorable opinion about him especially Ganguly and everyone might start thinking beyond Kohli in the limited over cricket.

Kohli is panuti when it comes to big tournaments be it Champions trophy final, Semis of WC and almost every season of IPL.

Ganguly and the other BCCI officials have avoided open confrontation with Kohli, who has a reputation of being short-tempered. So I am not sure there will be any change, even if they perform poorly during the T20 World Cup. Selecting a coach, who doesn't dance to the tunes of Kohli will be huge. Attempts were made earlier, but they were not successful.
2271  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who has held bitcoin for more than 5 years? on: December 09, 2020, 12:04:57 PM
I became active in this forum just about 3-4 years ago and most of my Bitcoin from that time had already been used or sold since I had to pay for my expenses. Only a few people have that patience and financial capability to hold their investment that long. I am holding some crypto bow and I am intending to hold it as long as possible till bitcoin reaches it's new ATH.

I haven't come across a lot many people, who have held their assets for more than three years. Extremely long term investments (>5 years) is common only in real estate and bullion sectors. In most of the other sectors, the average duration of the investment is less than 3 years. Even among the earliest Bitcoin users, only a small minority has held on to their coins from the pre-2013 period.
2272  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar - UEFA Qualifiers on: December 09, 2020, 11:10:06 AM
I agree with you.
It's very good that FIFA tries to diversify its tournament in order to give a chance to more teams around the world, but we are talking about a tournament among the best in the world.

I believe that there should be a kind of score for each continent (I don't know how it could be calculated) and the higher it is, the more teams should be qualified for the world cup.
Of course, keeping a minimum number according to the size of the continent and/or the number of countries, so that it isn't too unfair and break this diversity that FIFA... because, if select only the best in the world, the world cup will be a tournament between Europeans and Brazil Cool

They have more than doubled the slots from Asia and Africa, which obviously would mean that some of the weaker teams may qualify. On the other hand, there is not much increase regarding the number of slots available for UEFA and CONMEBOL, where we have the strongest teams. There is still a chance that some of the stronger teams from these confederations may fail to qualify.
2273  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Indian Super League (ISL) Football match updates, predictions and discussions on: December 09, 2020, 10:32:27 AM
Right now, there are three teams at the top of the table, with 9 points each (Mumbai City FC, NEUFC and ATK Mohun Bagan). ATK Mohun Bagan was cruising through, but they lost their last match to Jamshedpur FC. Now the opportunity is with the Amrinder Singh-led Mumbai City to top the table, if they could defeat the weak Chennaiyin side.
2274  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Your opinion on bitcoin holder tax from Indian government Income Tax on: December 09, 2020, 07:13:04 AM
Of course, in general, I think that tax collection is of course normal, given that cryptocurrency is recognized as a digital asset, but I accept a tax of a maximum of 5%, but no more, and what they do in India I consider a complete robbery, since the tax is too big for cryptocurrency holders and this will significantly slow down the legalization of cryptocurrency in this country, there will be many shadow options in order not to pay taxes, and so on

LOL.. it is up to the government to decide the tax rates and there is nothing you can do about it. You can try tax evasion in case you don't want to pay your taxes, but then be ready to face the consequences. And I don't know whether there is any country out there, where the tax rates are as low as 5%. Normal range is 20% to 40% and it depends on the country where you reside.
2275  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: December 09, 2020, 06:49:18 AM
May be, may be not.

Apart from his decision making at the field, i am not impressed with coaching staff selection as well. We have Indian coach who acts likes cheer leader and his supporting staff are selected because they are loyalist. Bowling coach is good but others seems average. One example is Virat and Shashtri rejected Jonty Rhodes as fielding coach.

I don't think that the situation is going to change anytime soon. Damaadji (Shastri) was selected as the coach, mostly due to his unwavering loyalty to Kohli and other biggies within the Indian team. Now everything is going in the right direction for the Indian team, and they are winning matches. At this point, even the BCCI bosses would be reluctant to antagonize Kohli.
2276  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: December 09, 2020, 06:34:58 AM
I don't mind all glitz, fame etc at the early age as long as they are willing to improve themselves and not losing focus. IPL act as scout platform for BCCI or in some extent other boards too. Likes of Shaun Marsh, Faf, Pollard, Narine, Watson names comes to my mind who gained popularity after featuring in the IPL and Chahal, Bumrah, Pandaya, Jadeja are IPL product as well.

Its still early for Gill, Prithvi etc and they are future so BCCI need to be very careful with the management.

They should not lose their focus. That is the most important fact. But from what I am seeing, that is not the case. Many of the younger players, who get good start with the IPL fail to translate those performances to the international stage. And this is not just applicable for players such as Gill and Prithvi, but to an extent applicable for Sanju Samson and Shreyas Iyer as well.
2277  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Spend or HODL Bitcoin during COVID-19? on: December 09, 2020, 06:19:24 AM
In case if you have expenses to take care of, then obviously you need to sell some of the coins that you are holding in your wallet. The only thing to remember here is not to do panic selling. There will be several rounds of correction before Bitcoin is able to breach the $20,000 per coin level. Be patient while the correction is underway. Sell your coins, once the price recovers after the correction.
2278  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who has held bitcoin for more than 5 years? on: December 09, 2020, 06:09:44 AM
One of our founders bought BTC early 2016 and sold @ $19.5k in 2018, and then bought again in 2020 when it was $4.8k Roll Eyes if you are curious, you can find some of his posts about that on Twitter

So you are claiming that he sold his coins when the prices reached ATH and then again purchased them, when the prices had bottomed out. Theoretically, this is the best scenario which you can imagine. But in reality, it is almost impossible to do this. We never know when the peak prices will be reached and the same goes for the lowest level as well.
2279  Economy / Economics / Re: Here is why btc will die as a crypto on: December 09, 2020, 05:33:10 AM
So you're all arguing whether bitcoin will die or not because this dude tried to send 0.3 USD through blockchain? What's the point of such transaction, what would you even buy with that? A cup of coffee or even a pack of chewing gum is more expensive. You even pay more than that for taking a piss in a public bathroom.

It doesn't matter whether the amount involved is $0.30 or even $0.03. Because the ability to do micro-payments was regarded as one of the major advantages of Bitcoin, when it was first created in 2008. But it is true that the OP paid a fee, which was much higher than what was required at that point. Nowadays, it is not that easy to calculate the fee. Many of the fee calculator websites are not providing the accurate value.
2280  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Japan becomes more friendly towards Gambling on: December 09, 2020, 05:14:11 AM

In this case, Japan has indeed become a country that is very friendly to cryptocurrency, gambling, and various other developments.
Yeah Japan is a country that crypto friendly, and with the low tax on gambling is one indication of their more friendly to crypto, because at this pandemic many online casinos have sprung up by adding crypto as payment at these casinos.
In my opinion, Japan is not a country that focuses income only on taxes but other things that should be exemplified by other countries.

Let's not forget the fact that Japan was one of the first countries to legalize cryptocurrency, far ahead of the United States and the European Union. Their capital gains tax rates are also low when compared to most of the other countries. They have a progressive, forward-thinking government and it helps in boosting the economy after such a devastating pandemic.
