Pfizer has refused to provide vaccines to third world countries. They have reserved 99% of their vaccines to developed nations such as the United States and Canada. Pfizer has provided limited doses of the vaccine to some of the third world nations, but in return they are asking for draconian guarantees. And as far as Sputnik V is concerned, they are really struggling to cope up with the demand. The good news is that their facilities in Argentina and Serbia has started producing the vaccines and by next month tens of millions of doses will be available for export.
Unfortunately, pharmaceutical companies gain billions in profit from vaccines, as bad as it may sound, they prefer selling them to developed countries that will provide them with a guaranteed return. A perfect example of that is India, one of the largest manufacturers of vaccines (the AstraZeneca is produced there if I'm not mistaken), is facing huge shortages while the vaccination program is going downhill.

Source about India: https://www.thehindu.com/data/covid-19-vaccination-rate-falls-sharply-in-mid-april-in-india/article34401369.ece

As a resident of India, I can say that everything was going smoothly here, before the Americans banned export of raw materials that are essential for the production of the vaccine. It disrupted the vaccination program (not only in India, but also those in other countries which were dependent on the vaccines that are manufactured in India). The ban on export was removed only a few hours ago, after many weeks of negotiations between the Indian administration and the Biden regime. But a lot of damage was already done by time this issue was resolved.
1282  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you trust USDT? on: April 27, 2021, 11:12:45 AM
The USDT market cap is going up with every week or so. Right now it stands at more than $50 billion. Do we trust such a huge amount with one unregulated cryptocurrency exchange, which had legal issues many times in the past? If by any chance USDT goes down, then it is going to be the largest cryptocurrency scam in the recorded history, many times larger than the PlusToken and Onecoin scams. I never had any USDT with me. I don't know why people trust USDT so much and put their hard earned money in this unreliable token.
1283  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DOGE is living proof of Influential Power of Rich People! on: April 27, 2021, 10:44:58 AM
I see the dogecoin problem in this market as a phenomenon. And they are losing the real value of these coins, people need to admit that for them whether it goes up $1 or even higher, it is still a dogecoin. They have too much money, and it will not affect their lives no matter where the dogecoin goes, to be precise it is pointless or just sees it as a joke rather than a use case.

Well.. in many cases proof exists that these celebrities who were promoting shitcoins ultimately profited from their promotions. I am not saying that they were scamming people like John McAfee did. But they triggered pump-and-dump cycles with altcoins that can be manipulated and eventually profited from those cycles. Rapper Kanye West is one of those celebrities who came up with his own altcoin (Coinye) and tried to cash out. He made millions from his Coinye shitcoin, which eventually (and naturally) died out by 2017.
1284  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Someone on Tiktok said that Bitcoin will go down zero if founder show up! on: April 27, 2021, 10:15:56 AM
I don't know why we need to take these people seriously. Why Bitcoiners always listen to "someone from Tiktok" or "somebody from Twitter"? What are the qualifications these people have, in order to make such predictions? I am investing in the stock market for well over a decade now. No one takes "unknown" people seriously there. Only opinion from the experts are given any importance. But here in the cryptocurrency market, almost anyone can make any sort of prediction and there is a section of the users who will take that seriously. We need to behave in a more mature way.
1285  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The problem is that it could take again many years to recover on: April 27, 2021, 10:00:37 AM
I have no problems seeing a bright future for BTC, but after a major retracement it might again take many years to recover. Look at the last sell off down to $3700. It took almost 4 years to make new ATH.
So should this be the major, expected drop, it could again take many years for BTC to reach 100k.
Many people will be dead before BTC will reach 1 mio.

LOL... don't be too hard on yourselves. Bitcoin can make you rich. But at the same time, don't expect Bitcoin to make you a millionaire overnight. You need to wait patiently. I first invested in Bitcoin almost four and half years ago. Back then, I purchased my first coins for $900 apiece. During 2017-21, I sold a part of my holdings to cash, but still I have the majority of my original coins remaining in my wallet. My final target is $250,000, but I understand that it may take 5 or even 10 more years to reach there. If you don't have the patience to wait till then, there is always the option to cash out. Even the current rates look very attractive, if you ask me.
1286  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: April is the real alt season on: April 27, 2021, 07:53:50 AM
While bitcoin dominance decreased altcoins continued to increase until recently. We have to make the best use of this, but still be aware of the scammers who are starting to appear. Stay as thorough as possible before investing

This is something that we all were expecting, right? Whenever there is an altcoin rally, there will be an avalanche of scam projects in this sector. I learnt the lesson in a hard way in 2018. I guess most of those who are investing in these projects are noobs without enough experience and they will also learn their lesson in a way that I did back then. You can't just make your investment decision based on social media propaganda. Because various social media platforms are full of posts advertising shitcoins, which promise you 100x or 500x returns in one week.
1287  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will you do if Bitcoin hits $1m in the future? on: April 27, 2021, 07:01:52 AM
If Bitcoin manages to climb up to $1 million, then I assume that a lot of the users will be millionaires. There will be hundreds of thousands of users (if not millions) who own a minimum of BTC1 in their wallet. This can have a huge impact on the global economy, because of various factors. The vast majority of these new millionaires will be men in their 20s and 30s. They will be mostly concentrated in the US, former USSR, EU and East Asia. Countries such as India, Bangladesh and Turkey, which have taken a hostile stance towards Bitcoin are going to lose out.
1288  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Transaction Fee on: April 27, 2021, 06:45:49 AM
The mining difficulty was adjusted a few days back and the transaction fee levels have once again gone back to the lower range. I checked block #680789, that was mined half an hour ago. Transactions with a fee of as low as 13 Sat/Byte got confirmed (which is equal to paying <$1 per transaction). Now I urge everyone to make use of this opportunity, to combine smaller outputs to a larger one. This will reduce the transaction fee in future, when the fee levels are high.
1289  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-03-15] [Reuters] India to propose cryptocurrency ban, penalising miners on: April 27, 2021, 06:01:05 AM
The difference between a guess and a statement is big. I'm not an expert on India, but these two options just came to my mind first. After rereading the thread, I realized this is that the economy does not play any role in this issue, only politics, and as I understand it, individual groups advocate that this is prohibited (mainly by the top) and the rapidly growing middle class, on the contrary, organizes a struggle for the right to use and against close from bitcoin and etherium. What about the fact that I have no place on the forum - a very loud and harsh statement))) I study here and do not teach anyone. So there is no need to distribute such recommendations, with all due respect to the status.

Being a resident of India, I can say that this is not entirely correct. It was not individual groups which advocated for the ban, but the bureaucrats. In India, most of the economic and financial decisions are being made by the bureaucrats and not by the politicians. And this ban was first proposed by Subhash Chandra Garg (the former Finance Secretary of India). Normally the decisions taken by these bureaucrats are made in to laws, but this time some of the ministers raised an objection. So we don't know how it will turn up in the end.
1290  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dogecoin liquidations briefly surpass Bitcoin. New altcoin era? on: April 27, 2021, 05:46:25 AM
That's stupid. Bitcoin's Liquidity is steady compared to the unpredictable state of Dogecoin. This kind of events doesn't really marks any era. This just shows how influential Elon Musk really is to be able to make people (even those who are not investors) invest in Dogecoin.

I haven't studied the tweets made by Elon Musk in detail. But from what I have heard, he never recommended anyone to purchase Dogecoin. And most importantly, Tesla has purchased Bitcoin instead of Dogecoin or any other altcoin. And that makes it very clear which cryptocurrency Elon prefers for investment. A few people misinterpreted his tweets on Dogecoin, in order to create a pump-and-dump cycle with Dogecoin. Those who got fooled and made their investment are going to regret about their decision very soon.
1291  Economy / Economics / Re: China to overtake the Us as the largest global economy by 2028? on: April 27, 2021, 05:27:50 AM
I thought so too because popular financial individuals are often talking on TV about the spectacular growth of China's economy that they are ahead already. But one that they obviously agreed is that all products we have been buying now are from China and the technology they have is more advance. They even have their own version of Tesla cars.

Handling corona19 just made them ahead of time and have been developing the CBDC which they could contest the USD as currency reserve as they prophesized.

China has the perfect combination of zero red tape, affordable labor and low taxes. No other country has this combination. Take the case of US for example. The taxes are moderate, and red tape is absent. But the labor is very expensive. Now take the case of some country like India. Here the taxes are low, and the labor is more affordable when compared to China. But red tape is a major issue and the companies don't want to invest in that country because of this reason. This situation is unlikely to change in the next one or two decades.
1292  Economy / Economics / Re: Could Bitcoin Smash Socialism in Venezuela? on: April 27, 2021, 05:16:10 AM
^^^ It is not correct to label Nordic countries such as Sweden and Denmark as socialist nations. The governments may be run by Social Democrats, but whatever wealth they are enjoying right now comes from capitalist economies. If they had socialist economies, then they would have ended up like Ukraine or Moldova. Norway is the perfect example. They are rich in petroleum resources and thanks to the capitalist policies they became one of the richest countries in the world. Neighboring Russia is even more abundant in natural resources. But they had socialist system until 1992, and as a result most of the wealth was stolen.
1293  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Participants Only] [IPL 2021] Prediction pool and discussion on: April 27, 2021, 05:05:08 AM
Today I have selected KKR. KKR decided to bowl after winning the toss. So far they seem to have succeeded. PBKS gave a target of 124 runs in 20 overs. KKR should win today's match very easily. If the batting disaster does not happen then KKR will win very easily.

Even with such a small target, KKR really struggled. Fortunately for them, Eoin Morgan got his first half-century of this edition of the IPL and in the end they managed to get full points for the game. The KKR bowlers are in good form, but Pat Cummins is leaking too many runs towards the end of the innings. And as far as the batting is concerned, Shubman Gill failed once again. Now he has just one 30 plus score from 5 innings. Nitish Rana also seems to be in poor form.
1294  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Your Bitcoin Wallet Be Hacked? How Can You Secure It? on: April 26, 2021, 01:55:50 PM
As far as I know Bitcoin cannot be hacked as long as no one can know your seed phrase or private key. To secure this, it is better to save or write this one in a piece of paper or somewhere in the cloud that you think is also secured to save personal information. Though there is also a risk of saving files or information over the Internet. To avoid being hacked, just avoid clicking unrecognized emails or websites.

Yes. As long as your private key is secure, no one is going to steal your coins. Actually it is not that hard to keep your coins securely. But a lot of people are careless with their wallets, and in such cases, the hackers may find it easy to access your coins. First of all, the basic precautions needs to be followed, such as enabling 2FA. And along with keeping the wallet secure, please keep in mind that properly backing up your wallet is also very important. I have seen a lot of cases where the coins become inaccessible because the user can no longer log-in to the wallet (password forgotten, email access lost.etc).
1295  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin fees are so high right now. What's next? on: April 26, 2021, 01:24:19 PM
It is a positive sign, in the meantime the number of transactions is several times more than usual. It means that the demand for Bitcoin has increased a lot and if you want to complete your transaction in a faster time than others, you have to pay a little higher fee. Alternatively you can use Lightning Network to relieve congestion. At present SegWit system for 1 input and 1 output transactions are up to 30% more economical than old legacy transaction system.

According to estimates, less than 5% of the Bitcoiners are using Lightning Network on a regular basis. The vast majority of the users find it too complicated to use. The fact that the number of transactions are increasing doesn't surprise me. The user base is expanding with each year, and therefore it is only natural to assume that the number of transactions will also increase proportionately. And the block size hasn't increased ever since Bitcoin was first mined in 2009.
1296  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin dominance reach below 50% but back to over 50% in no time on: April 26, 2021, 12:12:13 PM
The dominance and marketcap are more accurately reflected real things in bear market. In such market phase, altcoins will be pulled back to their real values and scam projects will be killed to 0. Their contributions to total marketcap will be dropped significantly and scam project will have almost zero marketcap contribution.

Unfortunately, due to the altcoin rally a lot of shitcoins are also getting pumped. This is something that happened in 2017 as well. I am trying to warn the new users, but few people want to listen. For a large section of the cryptocurrency users, Bitcoin prices have already plateaued and they are not satisfied with potential returns of 100%-200%. These people easily get attracted to wild claims of 100x and 200x returns with shitcoins. And when the pump-and-dump cycle comes to an end, they will lose most of their capital. Right now I would say that at least 80% of the top-100 altcoins are overpriced.
1297  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Participants Only] [IPL 2021] Prediction pool and discussion on: April 26, 2021, 12:08:16 PM
I don't know why Williamson is not regular in SRH team. Is there something to do with Australia vs New Zealand ego?
Nah, there is no rift among Aussie and Kiwis players. Its just that at start Williamson was not match fit and team can include only 4 foreign players in the squad. Additionally SRH was flirting with the all rounders.

They already have Warner and Bairstow to pop up the batting. Then Rashid is sort of regular as far as the spin bowing slot is concerned. That leaves only one slot that is open. They tried Mohammad Nabi and Jason Holder, who are all rounders. These two didn't performed up to the mark, so in the end they decided to consider Williamson for the fourth overseas player slot. I am sure that now they will be regretting about their decision to drop him for the first few matches.
1298  Economy / Economics / Re: Could Bitcoin Smash Socialism in Venezuela? on: April 26, 2021, 10:52:09 AM
Not just corruption because there are a lot of countries that corrupt but they aren't socialist, to me, the reason that Venezuela is suffering is not because of socialism but because of incompetence of the government and they invested in the wrong socialism which prioritizes the individual instead of the society and its institutions.

At least in case of Venezuela, socialism played a large role in its decline. The first thing the socialist party did after coming to power was to nationalize the petroleum deposits. They nationalized most of the important resources, such as factories. And once these institutions came under government control, corruption and incompetence increased by a magnitude of several times, which eventually resulted in their collapse. And this in turn, destroyed the economy.
1299  Economy / Economics / Re: Economy after COVID-19 on: April 26, 2021, 10:42:24 AM
According to you, a week ago the situation in India was quite positive - vaccination, "innate high immunity of the population", a low spread of the disease, a positive situation ... And suddenly a sharp increase in infection begins, hundreds of thousands of new cases are detected, India becomes one of the " leaders "in morbidity? What do you think caused this change in the situation? 2 mVrts per day revealed approximately 15,000-16,000 infected per day, now 350,000, and this is a 20-fold increase!

350,000 infected, but less than 1% mortality rate. In Brazil they are reporting more number of deaths every day, from 70,000 or 80,000 infections. Yes.. there is a 20x increase in the number of new cases and the situation is really bad here. But India is a country with a population of 1.4 billion. India hasn't become "one of the leaders" in morbidity. The morbidity rate is still less than 1%, despite the emergence of the double-mutant strain.
1300  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: OSCARS 2021- Nominees, Odds and Predictions! on: April 26, 2021, 07:13:52 AM
The big surprise was that Chadwick Boseman couldn't win the award for the best actor, for his performance in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. He had odds of 1.06-1.08. Looking at the odds, I was all but certain that the prize would go to him. Anthony Hopkins had odds of 8.00, but he managed to win the award for his performance in The Father. Others (Riz Ahmed, Steven Yeun.etc) never had any serious odds.

Similarly, Nomadland had odds of 1.15 for winning the prize for the best picture. The only movie to offer any meaningful competition was The Trial of the Chicago.
