Interesting Bitcoin is hanging around 160,000 unconfirmed transactions yet total fees are only about 23 bitcoins with 3.4 transactions per second coming in.

The raw number of unconfirmeds are still high (normally I'd expect 50k or so) but the fees went down from thousands of bitcoins to a double digit number. Does this mean:

1) The remaining transactions are probably spam/dust
2) Fees to use the chain should be down
3) This is a good sign

Yeah it should be interesting to get this set up. Should be here by next weekend.

The big problem with these A6 boards is that there are a lot of parts on the underside of the board, thus it is very difficult to pre-heat them enough to use hot air to reflow the chips without having components fall off. An oven will allow me to reflow far more evenly with the chips down and the various heavier components on the top.

We'll see how it works.

Darn it's above 16k, apocalypse cancelled.
2284  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S9 hash board failing on: January 07, 2018, 03:38:53 AM
Looks like the board is overheating.

These boards run over 110c, I would not call 82c anywhere close to overheating nor is it anywhere near the shutoff temp built into the firmware.

When you say "These boards..." are you talking about the board temperature being 110 degrees, or the chip temperatures?
Awesome miner shows , one unit for example, running at 70 deg C, but the chips are running 83/72/78.

Is it okay for these chip temperatures to be in the 80's? Do lower temps increase unit life?
Doesnt the firmware have a 90 degree unit shutdown?
100c is when things like FETs start to short and cut through. Likewise I would not run chips at higher than 80c normally, I prefer to run things at 70 or less. The higher the temerature, the more unstable the chips will be in terms of current draw and the more likely a brief airflow fluctuation would burn them out.

Your mileage may vary of course, but this is my opinion.

Those have their advantages, but I don't know if they do quite as well on airflow/heat transfer. Properly lined up individual heal sinks can dissipate a lot of heat, but when they shadow each other you get a turbulent mess.

Avalon A6's for example have a full plate heat sink and don't drop heat quite as well.

I think Bitmain just needs to pay more attention to quality control. Maybe it's not such an issue when they have no competition and people are literally shoving money at them, but a crappy product is still a crappy product. And some of these seem to be lesser in terms of quality.

It worked 8 hours before it quit. So, I have had it less than 30 hours, so it is still on warranty.

Thus, I would prefer to send it to them, since it's Bitmain's problem to some extent.

All lights are green on the main board, all lights steady red on hash boards

Green light steady on front panel.

All zeroes in Miner Status

*nod* Understood. Send to bitmain then.

Hi everybody!

I have 5 Neptunes connected to a board that, following yours suggestions, it seems faulty.
When i turn it on i can't see anything on the LCD Screen and the led light close to the LCD doesn't flash.
When i can access to this board (i can do it cause i remember the IP) i don't see any of the Neptunes connected to this board.

pleeeeeasseeee i'm going mad, heeelp meee   Grin Grin Grin
Try unplugging all the neptunes from the board with the power off, then try just the board. See if the screen comes up. If it does power down and plug in neptunes one at a time powering up to test.

Either one will short the board or the board is bad. If bad I can fix.

I also have a few spare controllers.

Where do you live?

USA New Jersey

Is my location close to you.
Spare controller would be the quickest way to do it. Once you're online I'd be happy to take a look at the hacked one and figure out how to restore it. Would be a nice little side project (like the porting of the KNC Titan code to beaglebones. That helped a lot)

Thus not something to use. Meantime been working on a few more S7 boards and Titans, never dull in this world.

82c is a bit unusual when the other boards are significantly cooler. There might be a reason why.

Segwit is running properly, its just a number of the big generators of TX's refuse to upgrade. - why?
LN has monetization built in, you can collect a small fee for relaying, it effectively allows you to put your BTC to work.

Interesting. I can see pool operators not wanting to upgrade, they get fees. However exchanges should have updated now to provide lowest cost transactions. Hm.

154000 transactions unconfirmed, this is still a problem....

We would need a separate thread for discussing altcoins in general from a Bitcoin perspective.

Yeah, I know there is a BT subsection for altcoins but it is pure rubbish and full of blind retarded shills. Not what I am looking for.
So make another one, self moderate it, and deal with the shit that is altcoins.

Meantime Bitcoin seems to be stuck between 14-15k. Alts are going up because people perceive them to be cheaper or something, truth is they are like computer stocks in 2000 when every stock was bid up without any fundementals. Crash will come and money will flow back to the stuff with promise. By then Bitcoin had better have segwit running properly.

My question, how will people monetize the LN?
2293  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S9 hash board failing on: January 04, 2018, 03:53:31 AM
Looks like the board is overheating. Can you try it at a lower frequency?

Or check to see if something is blocking the heat sinks. Maybe it ingested something that is blocking airflow.

Or now that I think about it, maybe a heat sink fell off a chip. That would cause a pretty quick trip to 80c. Does it rattle when you shake it gently by chance?
2294  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 04, 2018, 12:15:23 AM
Reviewing the paper. Interesting that this can affect Windows; Windows has System and User controlled Partitions a-la-RSX11/IAS where the various paged and non-paged pools are. That's why drivers run in DRVPAR and user processes are supposed to run in either GEN or one of the other user controlled partitions.

Except that they probably fucked it up and mapped EXECPAR data into the GEN partitions. Those fuckwits...... They could screw up a wet dream at Microsoft if they did that.

(I wonder if they still have a SWPAR for the shuffler. I remember fondly what happens when you swap out the swapper....)
2295  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 04, 2018, 12:06:24 AM
Eh, it's like a loose cannonball on a rolling ship. It goes to one side, then the other, sloshing around.

Eventually it will come back to Bitcoin. So let it slosh, it's just more money in the system that can be sent into the coin that matters.

BTC's big problem is they need to get LN working. If there are nodes that need to be run or whatnot I'd be happy to host and help, but that should fix the issue. Ripple: Why would I use some company's script?

Hello,

I know it's not worth but want to know how too program the beagle one black that is used on a KnCminer Saturn.

Can someone explain how I can update bfg/cgminer to the latest version? I tryd opgeh update and upgrade but nothing happens.

I upgrade the KnCminer firmware too 1.0.1 custom but this used also cgminer 3.8.0....

I hope someone can help me.
Hate to say it, but why? The Saturn will not benefit from more modern code in any way.

You could stick an 8-16gb SD card into it and run the latest BBB software or run the controller with a Neptune or Titan, but there's not much to do with Saturn code at this point.

Looks like the Trezor deal is over, I got a pop up, same deal for delivery in February...+20 Euro for delivery now.

Prices also going up on Amazon...BULLISH!!
I wonder if they were clearing out their old stock for the new one with the touch screen....

I wasn't ware how vulnerable my computer (and bitcoins) were until I read that story. I always avoided buying an AMD chip computer, but now my next one might have an AMD chip in it.
Amazing. I have been working with MMU's since RSX11/M, you would think the eggheads at Intel could get this right. Nope, sounds like they could fuck up a wet dream.....
2299  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Cheap and simple repair of S7 hash board on: January 02, 2018, 11:36:18 PM
Hm. If you brought the voltage to 11.5, why not just short the +12 pad next to the choke to the choke and just run the chips on straight 12v?
2300  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S9 dead hash board repair needed on: January 02, 2018, 10:56:33 PM
Hi guys. I work with some farms in Asia, and they have a lot of broken S9 cards. I was thinking about switching chips around to fix some boards. Have anybody donne this? Is possibility to buy a tool to identify a broken chip?
All ideas are welcome! Total, I am talking about 20-30 S9, so it’s parts available, and money to save.
Regards, Jan

Well, if you want to send some of the boards over I'd be happy to do triage and take a look at them. Sometimes it's not the chips, sometimes it is, and sometimes the board is wrecked from a chip fire (and thus a good source of parts).

Let me know via PM if you would like me to take a look, if there's that many boards to look at I can give it a go.
