That is a quality S3+. Each one has it's own personality. But you have to love the ones that get you the 500 GHs. I think i had 2 out of 4 that were able to do it easy on mine. Others I was able to get to high 480 GHs. And ofcourse my batch 1's did not match those ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Like I said, it's behaving right now. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) For the last several weeks it's been dropping down to 480 between 1-2 days up-time; before that it was holding 49X-50X like it is now. I don't try to run it into the ground or anything, just a little tweaking here and there.

(1) I noticed today that if one of my miners goes zombie (like U3s are apt to do), it takes a long, long time, >24 hours at least, for it's hash to disappear from reported averages. See below, after running all day with a zombied U3 it's still reporting 35gh/s ave instead of the 8gh/s that was actually happening. My U3 runs about 50gh/s, so you can see that after 16 hours it's still reporting 27gh/s average too high. Same thing for the global average in the upper right. (2) If I restart the miner without stopping cgminer, then it comes back at full power and it's hash gets added to the averages; it doesn't replace it's pre-zombie average. ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fi60.tinypic.com%2F14c79g1.jpg&t=663&c=ZOjhTpAqoRp6wQ) I think that if a machine goes zombie it's average hash should be removed from these displays. This would also make it easier to notice if a miner is down, because the global average would reflect it instantly.

I run mine 250 @ 0750 and it will sometimes hold 500gh/s for days, sometimes it will drop to 480 after a day, but it doesn't go much lower, it plateaus off there. I always reset it when it gets to around 482 to get the 20gh/s back. It's been good the last couple days, weather really cooled down so that might play into it. ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fi57.tinypic.com%2F28byzoh.jpg&t=663&c=KvPDhGpyh0UetQ) If I set it to 262.4 @ 0750 it totally freaks out and doesn't hash worth a damn. I think some builds may just be temperamental.

Is it possible to mine just for the fees?
Consider this as well: once all the 21 million bitcoins are distributed, there won't be any coinbase in the new blocks and at that point, the miners will indeed be mining only for the fees. I am beginning to understand it. So during mining the transactions will be piling up then when a block is found the pool operator decides to add to the block. OK, I am going to start my own pool. Which is the best pool software? Hmm ... think of it this way: OMG I can start a small airline and make millions in profit each year. ... and yet almost no one seems to do that ... I wonder why ![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif) Ah, but I do have the planes. (Have my own servers in a reputable hosting centre and spare rack space). OK, what else do I need? Go on, tell me -- best pool software is... Since you didn't even understand how tx fees are handled I'll go out on a limb and say you do not know enough to run your own pool. No one is going to hold your hand with that one.

If you like overpaying, having your hand held, being forced to work inside the box, and aren't concerned with big brother being able to shut down any app or service on your phone at a whim, then iOS is perfect for you.
If you're a sensible, intelligent person the you would use Android.

If your power supply can supply 70 amps or 840 watts on the 12v rail, that's great to run two S3s, even overclocked.
You need to be careful how that is worded. If the psu can supply that wattage/amperage without exceeding 90% of its rated capacity, then it's ok to run two machines. If it can do it without exceeding 80% of the psu's capacity, then it's great to run 2. The closer one gets to the rated output of a psu, the less efficient (and hotter) the psu will run.

Be sure to use a secure rpc username and password, like the one Bitcoind generates.

There's no such thing as bad publicity.
Nice saying, but it's bullshit. How many examples of bad publicity being bad would you like? There's nothing cool about graffiti unless you have the wall owner's permission. Otherwise you're an asshole. It would be like if I came into your house and pissed on all of your furniture to mark my territory.

I had to reinstall Bitcoin Core and re-sync the blockchain, finally finished and received payment from last week. Thank you!

No Friday morning update yet? You sleep in, philipma1957? ![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif)

My blockchain finally re-synced and my payment for last week was received, thank you!
Have you all thought about adding an avatar component to the campaign?
Great campaign, I joined as a newbie with only a couple posts and still going strong!

2 things always do, replace psu and usb cable. I forget sometimes not everyone does that. sorry
Oh yea, I forgot about the (crap) usb cable they ship with. 2 things I always remind people of with the U3, replace psu and usb cable. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) I also tell people who haven't bought one yet to not bother, they are generally crap.

I'm not interested in helping someone setup a pool that is bad for the miners if the pool OP can't fully manage the pool. We have enough scams in the community without me helping people screw over miners (intentionally or unintentionally) ![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif) I like your style, kano. Now if only we could do something about some of those pools that do have "bad code" (for lack of a better description) that lets miners do things that are bad for bitcoin...

Bitcoin is the Blockchain,
My exact thought when I read the OP, but you summed it up way better than I could have.

I never used Chrome because of google's propensity for user tracking and ad generated revenue streams. Been using Mozilla Firefox since around version 3. Couple it with NoScript and AdBlock and you've got yourself a clean browsing experience.

Here's a good tip for saving money: any time you buy something on sale, take the money you saved and actually save it - put it in a savings account or buy bitcoin with it. If you don't actively save your savings, then you never really saved anything on the purchase.

--au3-freq 250 --au3-volt 800
try options
Tried, nothing has changed. I may be incorrectly configured cgminer? ./configure --enable-icarus i do, always worked for me sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install libusb-1.0-0-dev libusb-1.0-0 libcurl4-openssl-dev libncurses5-dev libudev-dev wget http://ck.kolivas.org/apps/cgminer/4.9/cgminer-4.9.0.tar.bz2tar xvf cgminer-4.9.0.tar.bz2 cd cgminer-4.9.0 ./configure --enable-icarus make cd cgminer-4.9.0 ./cgminer -o pool:port -u userid -p password --au3-freq 250 --au3-volt 800 I erased the cgminer.conf and now u3 is work correctly. Thank you very much. You will melt the factory psu with those settings, be sure to use an adequate psu.

Satoshi just called me, he said I can have all his bitcoins. So that's settled then.
