I didn't actually know that was a thing until talking to folks on here. I've never lived somewhere you couldn't read the meter, subtract last month's reading and multiply by a flat rate to get your bill.
Course I also like that my flat rate is lower than a lot of folks' lowest time-of-day rate.

Here in southern California we get another layer of pricing in addition to time of year/time of day - we have usage tiers and as you use more power up to certain milestones each kw/h after that becomes more expensive.  My electricity bill takes complex math to figure out.

Try the altcoin forums, you won't get support in this thread.

They're not cheap, but CoolGear makes some bullet proof usb hubs.  I use this one for my stick miners (I run 4 nanofury sticks, soon to be replaced with 4 Compacs): http://www.coolgear.com/product/metal-7-port-usb-2-0-hub-w-din-rail-mounting-kit-japan-nec-chip

I also have one of the usb fans mentioned previously.  Once my Compacs show up this stick set up should out perform one of my old U3 miners (which are just sitting on my desk gathering dust now).

maybe I should upgrade to 4.9.2.

Fixed quote for you.

No reason not to use the latest release.
1686  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Core 0.11.0 has been released on: September 04, 2015, 04:42:30 PM
Is there a blockchain that can be downloaded without waiting weeks for Bitcoin Core to download it all?
No.  And it doesn't take weeks, it takes a couple days.

And is there a security problem if does not wait for it and puts someone else's blockchain into it?
There is only 1 (bitcoin) blockchain, that's kinda the whole point.

How much did you pay for your account?

Holy cow, congrats on the mega-diff solution!

It's going to be a wild winter, I wonder when we'll see a negative diff again?
1689  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [SIDEHACK STICK] Official sales thread for everywhere not already covered on: September 04, 2015, 06:10:28 AM
Orders are confirmed and sales are updated.
Thank you!  Cool

but the extra money on expedited shipping.
Call customer support and demand a refund, they will give it to you since the package did not arrive when promised.  I've had to do it more than once.  If the package was insured they should also cover the replacement cost of the damaged goods up to the insurance value.  I think UPS default coverage on all their packages is $50 or $100, at least it was years ago when I used to ship a lot of car parts.

I would leave coins in here but I feel like the return would be minimal considering I'd be leaving my coins in someone else's hands. Doesn't help that there's no good English translation.

Are you saying the risk to reward isn't enough?  Because the interest rate is actually very good compared to any other real world investment.

I put my coins that I keep in my liquid wallet into their site for several weeks while I didn't plan to spend them on anything, it was better than earning 0% with them sitting in my wallet.  My withdraw made it back to my wallet in the next block after I submitted the request.  I left my interest + a little there and look at it as free micro earnings until I deposit more.

As long as their mine prospers I feel confident the funds are secure (famous last words, right?)...

Hopefully he'll post here, I want to hear his story.  That's quite a gamble, hopefully he made some coin on the venture.

100 billion diff, here we come!

But seriously, will we hit 100G before the halving next year?  It's going to be fun to watch what happens as that draws nearer.

Even though the site is (roughly) translated into English, any emails sent by the site are in Chinese.  It would be nice to have an option to get English language emails.

Once my Antminer U3 has been running for a bit, it gets this about every 10 seconds:
Try a different USB cable, but that's pretty normal operations for the U3.
1695  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S5 Stat pages shows 2 blocks found-How to know if I did or not before shutdown on: September 03, 2015, 09:29:13 PM
Do you mine pools that mine altcoins at the same time?  Much more likely your box found 2 altcoin blocks rather than bitcoin.

Oops, I missed that posting, sorry.  I assume that if I erred on the signed message/address you will let me know when you get to processing orders, thanks!  Cool

Oh, that's just me firing up my 5PH solo mine, nothing to see here...

 Grin

Don't I wish!
1698  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [SIDEHACK STICK] Official sales thread for everywhere not already covered on: September 03, 2015, 07:38:14 PM
I placed my order, will I receive a confirmation that I did it correctly?  I'd never signed a message before, and not knowing what the "from address" was I just generated a new address in my wallet and used that to sign the message.  Looking forward to upgrading my usb sticks with these which start at 4x faster than what I'm using, thanks!
1699  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: OFFICIAL CGMINER mining software thread for linux/win/osx/mips/arm/r-pi 4.9.2 on: September 03, 2015, 07:32:47 PM
I use M's moniter..but when I updated cgminer in my s3 to 4.9.2..  M's will not pull the info from my s3.. anyone know whats up?

If you dig back a few pages to around when 4.9.2 was release there is discussion concerning this.  I'd find it for you, but am a bit short on time at the moment.
1700  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER U3 Discussion and Support Thread on: September 03, 2015, 07:32:00 PM
"zombie" is exactly what it shows in cgminer when the unit no longer hashes...

Also the method I have stated is working flawless for me, i am not resetting the port...

I am disabling the port altogether, killing the actual cgminer.exe, re-enabling the port...

The other script loops and catches that cgminer has been terminated and then restarts it...once port is re-enabled it picks up the miner and starts hashing immediately...

Believe what you wish, and to each their own, but I am saying my U3 now runs 24/7 without any interaction what so ever on my part.

Good for you. Perhaps our setup is different as I use BFGMiner on my OpenWRT WiFi router. But if you scrolled through this thread, there are a lot of other people who are using cgminer on Windows and they have been trying a lot of things to solve this zombie issue but they failed (or maybe the one who successfully solved it just keep quite). Maybe your method could help them.

If anybody could confirm this, that would be great. I will try again to compile cgminer for OpenWRT 14.07, especially the bitmaintech's cgminer fork.

The problem with the U3 is what works for some does not work for others.  Heck, even for me what works on one U3 does not work the same if I use another U3 in its place.
