It would be better if everyone is required to enter the email address when registering.
This way lesser people will email to the website owner when they forget their password.

People like me will usually enter "spam@spammehere.com" when forced to enter an email address upon registering.  If the company then says "ok go check your email for the verification we sent" then I'll usually say "oh well, guess I'm not trying this site".  My point: forcing unverified email will fill up his database with false/useless email addys; forcing verified email will turn away potential customers.
2322  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcoin poker overview on: March 31, 2015, 02:02:05 PM
have you tried k8poker?i think this is not a new site..I've played in this site several times just for freerolls lol

they also have official thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=345254.100

maybe you can check this out...and you can add it in the OP..

Thanks, I'll do so if I get around to it.  However, if you try it out and can give me an idea what they offer then I'll just add it based on what you report.

I should put some kind of caveat in the OP that the info there is not guaranteed to be correct, it's just what people have told me.
2323  Economy / Digital goods / Re: 2-letter short domains on: March 31, 2015, 02:00:11 PM
Are these prices for 1 year?  After that year, would we have to pay the same price to you again or would we be negotiating with a registrar at that point?  (Sorry if my question is dumb)
2324  Other / Meta / Re: negative trust on: March 31, 2015, 01:57:53 PM
Yup,I can also confirm that on my trust settings you show up as neutral.  I can see the negative feedback from grthegreat if I look through untrusted feedback but EquiMobi must have removed whatever he had placed their earlier.
2325  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you prefer bitcoin, FIAT money or other? on: March 31, 2015, 01:54:56 PM
But in a forum for bitcoin enthusiasts, don't we expect bitcoin to win this poll by a landslide?  Obviously the facts on the ground are that almost all of us still have to use fiat for one reason or another however I expect that almost everyone here "prefers" bitcoin when it comes down to it.  What am I missing?
2326  Economy / Gambling / Re: SwCpoker.eu | No Banking, Only Bitcoin | Bitcoin Poker 2.0 LIVE NOW! on: March 31, 2015, 01:50:27 PM
Yeah there was that one lag spike in the beginning of launch but I haven't experienced any problems since then everything is running nice and smooth and no one is disconnecting. I think they took care of a lot of the problems. But there's probably more fixes to come but its progress is heading in the right direction. Great job ST7  Grin

I don't like the current buggy client, I like the client released in several weeks ago, at least it was smooth, no serious lag, and has sound.

Current client still doesn't have sound. The team should do more checks.

I have to close the client and play in betcoin poker now, betcoin has much better user experience than SWC.

SWC should do more tough jobs, come on I like SWC, don't let me down.

I haven't ever gotten the betcoin flash client to do anything other instantly crash.  And, I don't run .exes so I'm saying the same thing.  I'm rooting for swc here.  I hope I don't have to wait too long...

How come you don't run .exe?

Security, peace of mind, holiness, sanity.  I gave up on windows many years ago and I'm just not into tha proprietary stuff anymore.  Long live free software!

I see. So does that mean .exe can steal crucial info and passwords and such?

Most likely the seals one does not.  However, .exe's in general certainly can.  If you run Windows you have to trust them to take care of you (and they don't explain how they do this, and if you read the news you can realize that they don't really do a good job and I think their official policy is that you should contract this out to a third party like an anti-virus/malware company), so you decide for yourself if that system works for you.  It doesn't work for me, that's for sure.
2327  Economy / Gambling / Re: BitcoinPoker.gg - 1BTC Freeroll - Daily 200mBTC Freerolls on: March 31, 2015, 01:48:16 PM
Hi Admin, I have a suggestion, people are always confused with different time zones as to when a particular tournament will start. If it is possible could you make a Timer Countdown on the front page of the site itself and/or maybe in the OP also which tells how much hours is left for a tournament to begin?

It would be really fun if they could do it, but I'm pretty sure that smf isn't going to allow users to execute arbitrary javascript in a forum post.  However, they could have link in the OP to a timer on their site.
2328  Economy / Gambling / Re: MoneyPot.com -- The Social Gambling Game on: March 31, 2015, 01:47:19 PM
By the way, is moneypot still down?  I saw that it was having trouble last week.  I don't really have a chance to try it this morning but I'm trying to keep on top of which gambling sites are working and which are down.
2329  Economy / Services / Re: Up to 0.035 BTC weekly for YOUR SIGNATURE *New rules on: March 31, 2015, 01:44:02 PM
Currently I'm not posting very often so I'm leaving the campaign.
I would say thank you Bitmixer and thanks for all the fish! Smiley

Why would you even need to leave? This campaign seems like the perfect one if you don't post much. Even if you only make one post you'll still get paid for it (providing it's a qualifying one).

I would probably take the advert off if I wasn't posting too often.  I guess otherwise I'd feel like I was giving out free advertising via all my old posts (bitmixer.io, notably, used to pay for these).
2330  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcoin poker overview on: March 31, 2015, 01:40:12 PM
If you would like you can update BitcoinPoker.gg status with this information:

Android: Even though our poker software does work on android browser we do NOT have an Android specific app
GNU/Linux (desktop client): We do NOT have a Linux desktop client
OSX (desktop client): We do NOT have an OSX Desktop client
Windows (.exe): We do NOT have a Windows desktop client

Our poker software is currently web based only and supports HTML5 which should be compatible with ALL popular browsers.

Thanks.

Updated!

BTW, I was pretty sure that when I signed into your site the other day to register for today's freeroll, that I had to activate flash in order to see your site.  Perhaps, I recall incorrectly, however.  Pretty soon, I'm going to break out that "browser" column into flash vs html5.  Thanks to you!

Someone was doing the same on twoplustwo, you can get quite a bit of information from there:
http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showpost.php?p=45104969&postcount=58
Hasn't been updated in a few months though.

Thanks, I'll check that out.  Of course, this forum is more central to bitcoin than any other, IMO, so it'd be good to have this info here, if possible.
2332  Economy / Gambling / Re: Primedice.com | Most Popular & Trusted Bitcoin Game | Huge Community | Free BTC on: March 31, 2015, 01:23:19 PM
What would you all think if there was the *Optional* choice to provide an email when signing up? We aren't interested in creating more friction but the exceptionally high number of account recovery emails have greatly hindered our ability to provide very prompt support.

When we eventually roll out the casino this may potentially be mandatory.

I don't see any problem with it. Players could use Tor and hushmail if they want to.
Please add the option if it could reduce your team's workload.

Optional choice would be just fine.  sealswithclubs.eu did the same.  If you had provided an email, then account recovery was easy.  If you hadn't, expect account recovery to be difficult or impossible.  I hate it when people try to force me to provide an email but option to do so isn't offensive at all.

Hello,
I am selling a Facebook Page

page : https://www.facebook.com/THE.Acabist

Price 2 btc

I admit, I don't use facebook or any social media so I find this totally mistifying.  Who would pay for this?  What's it good for?  I'm not trying to troll I just don't understand.
2335  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Pizza for bitcoins? on: March 31, 2015, 05:12:24 AM
Alright, but what about that chart of pizza's per bitcoin over time. I know one of you graphic designer types has it in you.  If I'm going to have to keep reading about pizzas for bitcoins after so many years, will one of you make this chart for me puh-leez!?
2336  Economy / Gambling / Re: MoneyPot.com -- The Social Gambling Game on: March 31, 2015, 04:43:01 AM
I'm not directly addressing you, you are not the only one that reads posts. As for that mBTC typo, I was typing fast before I went to go for a run. Was not really paying too much attention to capitals at the time as I wanted to get going. Funny that you felt this was substantial enough to notice for you.

Ok, I suggest that Mist and sed go get a room somewhere and have sex or else beat each other up.  I think this nonsense probably doesn't really belong in the moneypot thread and it's hard to see how it's helping anyone but these two hotheads get their rocks off.

I admit, I laughed for a minute tho.

SwcPoker Back up!!

Would be helpful to add in OP how long each website has been running for.  Unfortunately scams / runners are all too common for bitcoin gambling sites Sad.  Also a "yes" or "no" if we know the real identities of any of the owners.

I agree.  I'm going to try to update this OP a bit in a day or so when I have a little time.  It seems like people are thinking this thread is a good idea.  So I'm going to put a little work into to it real soon.  However, I don't really have the basic info (who's who in the world of bitcoin poker---I just played happily at sealswithclubs till they went down), so you guys are going to have to keep filling me in.  And I agree that the born-on date for these sites would be really useful.
2338  Other / Archival / Re: Updated Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns on: March 31, 2015, 03:53:01 AM
Hey there, I stopped by the front page and noticed the advert is gone!  That's cool!

I'm going to check it out more often now.  Thanks Miche??

Mitchełł removed the ad over a month ago - shortly after the poll he created on the subject ended, if I'm not mistaken:

Quote
What I thought was funny about this thread is how shockingly seriousl mitche?? is about the conflict of interest on this topic but how dismissive he was about sed's accusation regarding staff posting ads in the OP.
Care to explain how that was a conflict of interest? Like I said before, I don't have the power to decide who can have ads in their thread, only BadBear and Theymos can. The only thing I can do is moderate the Dutch subsection, everywhere else I'm just a regular user.

I did remove the ad in the end, because I didn't feel like dealing with the bullshit that came with it. It's not worth the $3 - $5 I received every 10 days.

I didn't realize that either.  Interesting.  I was against the ad too in the poll, but not as vehemently as others.  It does seem nice that this thread is now once again "not for profit", so to speak.
2339  Economy / Gambling / Re: Primedice.com | Most Popular & Trusted Bitcoin Game | Huge Community | Free BTC on: March 31, 2015, 01:41:20 AM
I normally experience little to no lag, and thats with running on the all bets tab. So I dunno, probably just a you thing.
Just try closing extra applications by going into the task manager then in processes. Close down the extra processes and make sure your CPU isn't all worked up. I guess 150MBs of RAM reserved for your browsers would be good enough to run the website properly.
I normally experience little to no lag, and thats with running on the all bets tab. So I dunno, probably just a you thing.

Uh, yes, it might be a "me" thing.  Or it might be an "everyone who runs a cheapo, not super-fast, not a lot of ram sorta computer" thing.  I dunno either.

or maybe its the internet connection.. didn't experienced any lag

Of course, internet connection is a thing.  However, and while this may not applyt the super-cool among you with your octa-core processors and 32GB of ram or whatever, those of us who run more pedestrian setups experience max CPU issues when running the all bets tab.  If you fall into this category (like me and Micro) then you may find your performance enhanced by clicking over to the my bets or highrollers tab (like me and Micro).

Cheers!
That's not a solution. People with such problems often have a hard time in chatting and in playing pvp. Its beeter to free up some RAM and CPU usage.

No , if u are away from all bets tab u will have very smooth chat and pvp. Before when there was total bets counter it was bit more hard on CPU but now if u move away from all bets ur cpu should not go over 5-10% and everything runs smooth .

Now when i am on all bets its about 30-50% cpu which isnt to bad but yeah go to hr tab or my bets and its much better .
All I am saying is that there may be cases when your CPU usage and RAM gets consumed by other processes on your computer and there may not be enough RAM and CPU left for the browser to even display the HR tab and chat messages properly(have seen this happening with people), so its better to close the unessential processes.

When you're running debian testing, you've rebuilt mesa from the latest sources in order to optimize graphics, you're using lxde (lightweight desktop) and the only thing open is chromium browser and primedice then basically I'm speaking about cpu usage from primedice, not other processes.  If you want a pro tip, open your terminal emulator and type `top' to see what's going on with your cpu.  Then use `kill -9 PID' to kill unnecessary things.  I hope it's clear that I have a reasonably solid idea what's going on with what's running on my computer.

Best!
2340  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Are people incentivized with [btc] to run nodes? on: March 31, 2015, 01:33:57 AM
It is better to have more nodes at different locations than at one location. If a datacenter experiences a blackout and lets say 1000 nodes run there, the network would instantly lose 1000 nodes which isn't good.

That depends on the total number of nodes out there. If there are a 1000 still left running even that is good enough. In fact I would say even 40-50 nodes would work. If we count the pools, big exchanges then we easily have that number.

In my opinion there's a difference between what "would work" and what would be ideal.  I'd prefer to see more nodes running than less.  40-50 seems like a very small, very attackable network, IMO.

40-50 nodes spread is decentralized enough. If it comes to robustness more bumber is necessary, and figures of 1000 or more which is easily available is more than enough.

The nodes is not an issue, only 10 or so miners signing the blocks is.

Seems like at 40-50 nodes, a serious DDOS could take down bitcoin, am I wrong?  I agree about miners, obviously at only a handful of miners we'd have the 50% attack real easy.  But maybe I'm missing something.
