1741  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should Satoshi's coins be deleted? on: May 15, 2015, 03:11:05 PM
well your question is a little bit off-topic since coins on bitcoin can't be deleted

Technically speaking, yes, they can.
All it takes is knowing exactly which addresses belong to Satoshi and then tamper with the blockchain.
Of course the majority would have to agree on the new chain.

And because the majority would never agree with the new chain, you may as well acknowledge that they cannot Smiley

Another way that they could be deleted would be for someone to alter Satoshi's brain and/or his records such that he cannot find his private keys.  That would also effectively delete them, but again, why are we considering these outlandish scenarios?  Lol.

We're sending new promo codes tomorrow. Stay tuned!

hope this will be something new, innovative, and different from the previous bonus codes.
anyway waiting for it..

The red color of the interface of the site is making eye tired, maybe change another color is much better.

Isn't there a button on chainroll to change the color?  Perhaps I'm remembering wrong but I thought they had night/day modes.  Even if they don't, you can always just change the color of the background with javascript in your browser:

document.getElementById("idofthedifyouwannachangethebackgroundof").style.background.color="white";

I dont think that they have night/day mode feature, and thanks for the idea/suggestion how the way to change the background's color but unfortunately not all members understand about javascript including me Smiley
it will great if you explain it step by step to help others to implement it.

Sure thing.  BTW, bibaby's suggestion about a FF extension might be easier.  But I took a look at the chainroll site and it's quite simple to change the background in just a few clicks.  In FF, I just right-click on the background of the page, and then select "inspect element".  The inspection window opens up and the background div is highlighted.  On chainroll, it's a <div> with a class "container".  Anyway, at that point, you can click into the right panel where it is showing CSS rules and you can click into the section called "element" and then type in "background:green" or whatever color you want.  That worked for me when I just tried it.

In that same "inspection" panel, you can click into "console" and type (or cut-n-paste) in some javascript to do the same thing for all the elements of class "container".  Two lines:

Code:
var ctns = document.getElementsByClassName("container");
for (var i=0;i<ctns.length;i++){ ctns[i].style.background="green"; }

The first line gets all the elements of class "container" and the second line loops through them and turns their backgrounds green.  That also turned the background green for me.  Change "green" to whatever you want.

I note, however, that the list of "container" elements was only a single one, so it's a little strange that "container" is a class and not an id.  But whatever.  Anyway, you could also use an add on like greasemonkey to save this javascript to always run on chainroll.

Hope it helps!  Have fun!
1743  Economy / Gambling / Re: Gambling experience - max negative times in row on: May 15, 2015, 02:59:45 PM
before JD shut down the first time, Doog did some stats on longest losing and winning streak at 49.5%.

I believe loses was as big as 32 in a row, and wins was 19 or 20..  i'm not 100% sure of the stats. its in the old JD thread somewhere.

Remember that this isnt simple 50/50.  at 49.5/50.5, the max loss streaks will be longer than the max win streaks.  (thus you can see the house edge in action, sortof)

RIght, that's actually an interesting point, a1choi, the longer the streak you're multiplying out, the more you're going to see that divergence between wins vs. losses multiplied out and getting bigger.  Ie, as you say, you can observe the house edge in action.

Congrats on trustedness, MICRO!  BTW, will the HH be announced on this forum as well?  I know a lot of us here don't do social-medias.
1745  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Vanitygen: Vanity bitcoin address generator/miner [v0.22] on: May 15, 2015, 02:53:59 PM
I got a VPS from someone at a very cheap price. I wonder how can I use the VPS with Vanitygen. Any guide? Searched Google but dont seem to find any answer.

You can install vanitygen and generate vanity addresses like you do in a normal PC.

It is my first time using a VPS. I'm currently hosting with Nexhost. How do I install Vanitygen from the control panel? Is there a step by step guide?

You can use Putty. http://www.putty.org/

There are many tutorials for using Putty.

PuTTY is a tool for accessing the server. You will also need to know how to download and unpack the package (wget and tar), and install or compile-and-install (package manager for dependencies, autogen/configure/make/make install for compiling+installation).

Yes. He can also use compiled binaries if he can't compile.

Given the question (bolded in the quote), I think the suggestion to use PuTTY is a little misleading.  PuTTY is an SSH client for Windoze.  But the question was about installing vanitygen from the control panel.  So, I'm pretty sure what MZ means here is that "no you can't use the 'control panel', you'll need to get a shell on the server using an ssh client (such as PuTTY)."  Then, in that context, you can see that hexfraction is pointing out that beyond just getting a shell on the server, you'll need to actually know some commands on the server.  At least wget/curl and tar, so that you can get the binaries (even if you don't want to compile).

BTW, PuTTY is quite an awesome program.  I only use GNU/Linux and I'm always super-frustrated when I sit down at a library or somewhere that has windows and I can't do anything or install anything.  PuTTY is wonderful because you don't need to "install" it for it to work.  I just download it and click it and it runs and I don't have to be an "administrator" or whatever it's called and then I can log into a real computer and starting getting stuff done!
1746  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Transaction fees on: May 15, 2015, 02:47:51 PM
Is it possible to mine just for the fees?

Consider this as well: once all the 21 million bitcoins are distributed, there won't be any coinbase in the new blocks and at that point, the miners will indeed be mining only for the fees.

I am beginning to understand it. So during mining the transactions will be piling up then when a block is found the pool operator decides to add to the block.

OK, I am going to start my own pool. Which is the best pool software?

It's not about "deciding" to add a block.  If you're mining, you are in a race with many other people to "add a block".  This answer has more detail:

The transaction fees are calculated by the pool when they decide to add the transactions into a block they are trying to mine. The fees are not specified by a number tagged on to a transaction. It is actually the difference between the inputs and outputs, the unused amount of the inputs.

So the fees are in there when you find a block.  As the mining computer (or pool), you get to keep the difference between inputs and outputs in the transactions which are in the block.  You can make decisions about which transactions to try to include in the block as you go looking for a block and receiving transaction broadcasts on the network.

About starting your own pool, you're going to be in tough competition.  Since you're just learning the very basics here right now, it's doubtful that you're ready to compete with the big players out there.  But nice enthusiasm tho!
1747  Other / Archival / Re: Quickseller, trust abuse, innacurate negative ratings, unprofesional escrow... on: May 15, 2015, 02:43:21 PM
On the other hand Vod usually just blocks people whom he negative rates, and refuses to talk to them for over a month even if he does.

Obviously you are just lying/making assumptions, unless you have a number of scammer accounts that I have negative rated and then blocked as proof?  Or do you accept scammer's words as fact when they tell you anything anti-Vod?

In any case, we now have an enemy scammer in common - Armis.  I suggest we become best friends to tackle the bigger issue.  Smiley

I see people complaining about you blocking them and refusing to discuss your ratings all the time. I am sure it is easy to forget about with how often it happens. I was not your enemy until you negative rated me, up until that point I simply had things to say about your behavior that annoyed you. If you don't want to be my enemy then I think you know what actions you need to take. Otherwise take your pretender act elsewhere.

Well, thanks for the links, TECSHARE, I may try to look into that further when I get a chance.  In the meantime, I just want to remind everyone that the best thing we can do for now about people on default trust who are causing issues is to remove them from our trust lists.  As I understand it, all it takes is
two people to put
Code:
~Quickseller
into their trust lists and the problem (with him at least) will be temporarily solved.  Vod, do you trust Quickseller?
1748  Economy / Gambling / Re: Gambling experience - max negative times in row on: May 15, 2015, 01:23:54 AM
I have myself experienced 26 reds in a row while martingaling on 2x. Although it seems impossible that that would happen but it does. Every roll is independent from each other and has the same probability, so you can have 30 reds in a row but that does not mean that 31st roll will be green, it may very well be red again.

That is why it is called gambling and it does depends on your luck. So just play with only the money you can afford to lose and never chase losses.

It's because in normal language we often conflate "impossible" with extremely improbable.  Now, with computers and such that do so many operations per second, we can even find ourselves in these strangely improbable positions.  Smiley

I saw OP moved the meetup to luckyflop from bitcoinpoker.gg.  Unfortunately, I've never been able to get luckyflop to work on my debian install.  If you guys move back to bitcoinpoker.gg, I'd definitely like to join in!
1750  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Python snippet to create Bitcoin public/private key pairs on: May 15, 2015, 01:11:03 AM
I don't have the snippet for you ready-made, but I'd take a look in the pycoin library, specifically the Key class:

https://github.com/richardkiss/pycoin
https://github.com/richardkiss/pycoin/blob/master/pycoin/key/Key.py

The Key class has several methods which do something pretty close to what you want.  Specifically, check out the Key.from_text(text) method and the subroutines in there.  I think you'll find it helpful (I hope).
1751  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How i make full node on latest rasberry or C.H.I.P? on: May 15, 2015, 01:00:32 AM
Hello,

How i make full node "computer" to support BitCoin network? Latest rasberry computer or that C.H.I.P what arrives lately on markets?
Is it even possible to use C.H.I.P same purpose supporting BitCoin network? What parts C.H.I.P or latest rasberry needs to working properly on BitCoin network?  Shocked

By "rasperry computer" are you talking about raspberry pis?  If that's what you mean, presumably you just need to download (or build) an arm7 binary of bitcoin-core and install it on your raspberry pi running raspbian.  I would suspect that would be reasonbly straightforward to try so perhaps I misunderstand your question.  BTW, here is a guy who is selling them pre-setup for you: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1005654.0  Also note, several folks, including gmaxwell, question the practicality. of this endeavour.
1752  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Is there a way to shorten tx confirms without a hard fork? on: May 15, 2015, 12:57:36 AM
... and without using a centralized system like Inputs.io?

I wonder if it's possible to use a sidechain with a faster block confirmation interval to shorten tx confirms without a hard fork while still being decentralized.

Before making the purchase, you would convert a small amount of your existing bitcoins to sidechain coins which would function in a similar way to Inputs.io's BTC IOUs. The sidechain coins would have a faster block confirmation interval vs. actual bitcoins. You would use these sidechain coins to make purchases and the seller would then exchange them into real BTC.

There would need to be a way for holders of sidechain coins to send them back to the Bitcoin blockchain at any time. As long as the conversion of BTC to and from sidechain BTC remains unhindered, then the value of the sidechain coin should remain constant relative to BTC.

Any other ideas?

I was going to ask aren't altcoins+exchanges essentially these sidechains you're asking about?  I guess the one difference is that altcoins can be volitile with respect to price.  I guess the question remains, what motivation is there to mine the blocks of your hypothetical sidechain?  If there's value in that independently, the you're basically talking about some kind of altcoin, right?  If the value of that is a portion of the bitcoin block mining, then it seems like you're watering down bitcoin mining and you'd need a fork.

Vod, I don't know the word for it.  But I do have a solution: set your browser not to autoplay videos.  I always put my plugins to "ask first"  or whatever the setting is called.  Smiley
Won't help anymore. HTML5 is here now and it is both awesome in it's possibilities and horrible how they are implemented.

Oooh, good point.  I wonder why I haven't had this problem yet (maybe because my sound is always down or something Smiley.
1754  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should Satoshi's coins be deleted? on: May 14, 2015, 10:38:59 PM
No way should Satoshi's coins be deleted.  For one thing, how on earth would you get consensus with everyone for such a nonsense idea?  They have to work really hard to get consensus for reasonable things like block size increase, etc.  Then, think about it further, if Satoshi's coins can be "deleted" then so can yours.  How would that be a good thing?  Don't be a hater.  Just cos Satoshi thought of it doesn't mean he doesn't deserve to be treated with the same respect as any other bitcoin user.  Smiley

Unless the OP releases source code for this I would consider it to be almost certainly a scam.  Please do not run untrusted code that you can't see on your computers, ppl!

If anyone needs help coding a bot for primedice api, I've already made a set of scripts to login and run some bets, it was pretty easy.  Just PM me if you need help.

Again, don't run code you can't see the source of!

Smart Bot

Free bot for 999dice and Primedice

Hi everyone,

I designed a new bot for 999dice and Primedice.

I don't say that you'll always win using it and etc. I just added a few base strategies and some of my own. May be it will help someone. The bot is absolutely free.

Bitcoin Boy .

What are "green" addresses?  Can you provide a link or something?  I don't know what that means.
