2321  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / X11 coin 500% price jump! WTF???? on: May 25, 2014, 07:35:31 AM
This coin is looking better than DRK, should i sell some of my DRK and buy X11?
2322  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is BITCOIN more expensive than other cryptocurrency? on: May 25, 2014, 07:11:57 AM
Bitcoin price initially was very low (like alts atm) in comparison to where it is today. Maybe some (a few) alts will also become a rocket like bitcoin. Also, if you look at the nature of things, it is always diverse, so I think diversity in crypto's not bad, but unity in diversity is advisable.

Far too many people think that altcoins are going to go up over the next 4 years. The issue here is that they are tied to Bitcoin. For the collective value of altcoins to go up by 50%, BTC has to go up by 50%. This is because there can't be more value in alts than there are in BTC, or we'd end up with another partial reserve system.

Darkcoin hasnt followed that path however, demand for a coin is the #1 reason for price increase, if no one is after a partucluar coin, it has no value.
2323  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | ASIC Resistant on: May 25, 2014, 07:02:05 AM
148 ghash and 5267 difficulty. thanks to all the whales this is unminable.

even 600,000 khash whales mine only 10 dark a day.

pathetic.

Yeah and imagine how much electricity it would cost!

I think DRK has grown too fast, it has to level out soon, its totally unmineable at the moment, a month ago i could get 4 dark per day at 4 MH!

This may very well push the price of DRK up, but even so the price increase is not enough to cover miners costs.

We need ASICS now or else people will stop mining.

No we dont, and no they wont. Remember that not every one here is for the same reasons you are (make a profit), some people are here for the ideology of the coin and will mine as they see the greater scheme of things and are not blinded by profit like yourself.

Actually im not here for profit, but clearly lots of other people are, hence the rapid buyup of DRK this month, just read all the posts here of peoples price predictions, i think its silly, maybe in 3 or 4 years.
No cryptocurrency should be treated as a get rich quick scheme, but alot are treating them just as that.
Even if DRK got to $1000, its unprofitable unless you have a powerful, efficient mining farm, it would take me almost a month just to mine 1 DRK with my old rig, its far cheaper (and smarter) to buy them at present, if the electricity costs more than mining the coins its obviously the sensible way to go (correct me if im wrong)

2325  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is BITCOIN more expensive than other cryptocurrency? on: May 24, 2014, 04:29:37 AM
NXT has the most advanced technology behind it, and if people want privacy, well theres a few options in altcoins...

Bitcoin is far superior to Nxt because their is 1000x more developers writing code for it and creating innovative solutions.
Darkcoin doesn't solve anything that BTC solved long ago with stealth and coinjoin.

1000x more developers, Really?
I dont see there being much more that can be made to improve bitcoin, its as good as it can ever be, for it to be entirely successful, we need it as fast as Eftpos or Credit card, until that happens, we wont see it in use on the retail sector.

I see tons of innovative solutions in NXT, after months of careful consideration and research i decided to invest in it, not to say that bitcoin wont be around in the future, it certainly will, but have we dont fully even know the full potential of crypto currency as a whole.
Not many people even know about bitcoin, let alone other crypto currencies.

I think there is plenty of room for a handful of crypto currencies, but not the hundreds of crap coins we see today, i wish they would all go away, at least some have useful developers and fresh ideas.
2326  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XSI]StabilityShares-PoS-New Wallet Available-Now On Poloniex! on: May 24, 2014, 01:42:18 AM
I only came across XSI yesterday.  I have a few old XSS in my wallet that I mined on launch, is there any way I can get them converted to XSI ?

Hey griffitsj,

The old version of StabilityShares (XSS) were swapped for XSI this past Monday on Bittrex, Poloniex, AllCoin, and CryptoALTeX.

We posted this information with 7 days notice on the forum and Twitter repeatedly.

You can still mine XSI for about 10 days, until we transition to purely PoS.

Hope you will consider becoming part of our community.

Wait what?
So if you didn't trade your XSS during that one day window your shit out of luck?

This is unnacceptable.
God forbid you were out of town or didn't notice this thread on the forums due to there being A MILLION OTHER ANN's.

I don't recall seeing "hey trade your XSS on this day or they will become worthless!".

Who the fucks bright idea was this one day trade thing?

We posted notice of the process 7 days in advance.  Only a couple people have contacted me or posted in the thread about missing the deadline, so that indicates the community had ample notification.

If you read through our Twitter and the rest of the thread, you will clearly see the timeline established and repeated notifications about the trading deadline.

A clock was repeatedly posted in this thread, on our website, and daily alert on Twitter.  Also, when the switch to PoS was announced I personally contacted everyone that had posted in our thread up to that point to notify them about the forthcoming change.  We went to pretty great lengths to make sure everyone was aware of the switch.

I am sorry that you missed the trade for XSS to XSI.  You can still mine or purchase XSI, and we would love to have you as part of the community.  If you want to have further discussion by all means you can send me a private message.

If you want to curse or insult anyone in the thread, there will not be any further comment on my part.

Someone loses money and your suggestion to them is "hey you can buy more or mine more"?
Are you autistic?
Why wasn't the trade-in done in an open-ended manner?
Do you really think 7 days is "ample notification" to notify every person in the world holding XSS?
You really assumed that posting notices in this thread and on twitter was going to reach every XSS holder?  Huh
I'm sure many haven't even heard the news yet.
It doesn't matter how many have complained to you personally, the real question is "what was the total mined XSS and how many XSI were claimed"?

Do you understand that not everyone checks these forums every day, or this thread specifically? You do understand that there are 3530 topics on this sub-forum?

Is it really that hard for you to see someone elses point of view?
You are working on this project, it is your responsibility to be in this thread posting and taking part in this small community. Not everyone else is committed to checking these forums every day. Anyone who isn't autistic should be able to put themselves in someone elses shoes and say "wow yea, I guess it should have been left open ended so no one was screwed out of their stake because of arbitrary time restraints that I chose without their knowledge or consent".

Now I'm holding at least 15 different currencies from mining/investing. Should I be checking every single thread for every single coin, every single day?

If you knew it wouldn't reach every XSS holder but 90% of them or 80%, is that acceptable? to fuck 20% of XSS holders out of their stake?
Pro-tip: That's not acceptable. Not even for 5%

Its not your money to make that decision with.

If even 1 person lost money because of your decision to half-ass this transition to save yourself a bit of time, then you probably shouldn't be relied upon to manage a international currency system.

I usually just ignore such blatant anger but I feel like I need to chime in on this.

First off the new devs raised this coin from the "abyss". They didn't cheat any one out of anything. It was all but worthless with no dev support and was almost down to 1 sat on the ONE and only exchange it was on.

In comes CryptoNewbie and BMiner777 with a rework of the entire coin. Then all of the sudden its on 4 exchanges and getting price jumps to 5000 sat.

So what do they do next?

They do the one thing that any good dev would do. Put a vote out to the community to decide what to do with the coin. Give the power to the majority that held, mined, and hoped.

You are right that there was a 7 day window. But what you are not seeing is the weeks before where the community that was invested (like you) voted on the switch to POS. There was in fact about 1 month when you look at the whole transition.

CryptoNewbie didn't decide to screw anyone out of anything. He didn't even decide to make a deadline, he had to. There is no reason to be angry at him at all. We (the community) decided upon the change so if you need to let off some steam at least direct it in the right place.

The switch from XSS to XSI was a necessary evil. There is no way to magically make the old wallet/chain do the new POS features that WE decided upon.

Your ridiculous autism comments just go to show what kind of person you are. CryptoNewbie is nice enough to ask you to be part of the community but I honestly hope you don't, at least not without a direct apology to the new dev team.

The fact is that there is no premined special pile that can be handed out to people. The swap has been made and now its all XSI. I have offered and sent XSI to people that missed the deadline from my own stash.  I would have offered to help you as well but NEVER with an attitude like that.

I'm sure I will probably get a nasty flame back for this but know that it will just be ignored. I have said what I needed to say.

Onward and upwards guys.

couldnt agree more!

2329  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is BITCOIN more expensive than other cryptocurrency? on: May 24, 2014, 01:10:08 AM
Its also the most expensive because people are needing to buy BTC to get hold of other alts like NXT, Darkcoin, etc.

I think there will be some tough competition for BTC in the not too distant future however.

NXT has the most advanced technology behind it, and if people want privacy, well theres a few options in altcoins...
2330  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple is on its way D O W N..... on: May 23, 2014, 09:48:05 PM
Dont know much about this crypto, but am amazed how its marketcap got as high as it did.
From what i gather its too centralised and run by a corporation, i guess thats not so good an idea?

Ripple is mainly targeting banks and large money transfer networks not some guys from BTT like us. From this point of view beeing centralized and run by a corporation is a very good idea. Banks and money transfer corporations much more fond of doing business with an other company then with a bunch of random blokes with some mining harware across the world Smiley.

OK, so its essentially a bit like paypal?
Shouldnt even be classed as a currency! lol

Hi, I bought into drk back when it was .002ish, glad to be on board and am very excited.  Have two questions though if someone has a second...

1) If darksend is anonymous and untraceable, how do I prove I made a payment to someone who says "they didn't receive it"?

2) What's to keep the NSA or similar from hosting their own master node (or 10, they have the budget) and logging transactions that come through to defeat the anonymity?

Thats actually quite a good point!

how to start a master-node?

you need 1000 coins to start one

So it's design is like POS that rich people has more power in the system

Someone will quickly create a system/service to allow people with under 1000 DRK to pool their coins to create master nodes.

I was thinking if that would be possible, a bit like leased forging with NXT

Hey, why isint this coin showing on coinmarketcap anymore?

bminer777 sent an email yesterday.  I sent a pm on this forum today.  Yet to receive a response, so I am not sure what the issue is.

looks like they may have a problem reading the data correctly.
Probably an issue with the exchange
