How happy do you think china is that United states is naked selling gold, driving the price down.  China's coming off Chinese  new year(or whatever)  Part-time job creation isnt a recovery, most people arent even looking for job because there is no jobs.  Go to the store and try to find things made in canada or US.  They are hard to find, most things are made in china.  Free trade and nafta are killing us.  Canada's manufaction in Ontario is dying.  People are moving from the East to the West looking for jobs, yet our government keeps bringing in immigrants.  What about the millions obama has let in to the states?  Where are they going to work?  What about all the things hes promised them, who will pay for it.  Obamacare, whos going to pay for that.  What about the rich leaving the states?

Gold is another story and when the economy recovers, probably gold price also rises as the demand for gold is increasing.
Especially silver is like this: a lot of demand for silver comes from industrial use and once the economy starts rising, also the industrial demand will rise.

Part-time job is better than no job at all.
I agree that the collapse took some people out of labor force for ever. I am glad Ben Bernanke acted fast and started massive emergency money printing to stimulate the economy.
The collapses are never good, I think the problem was that FED chariman before Bernanke in the beginning of 2000's kept the interest rate waaaay too long time too low and created a massive bubble to housing markets and in 2008 it collapsed and the rest is history.

People do not need "stuff". People need food, housing and clothing.
The manufacturing of stuff has went to China indeed.
The jobs that probably will have demand can be found from service sector or IT (however this requires higher education - after all you are competing with Indian engineers, you cannot outbid with salary but with your knowledge and unique combination of skills which creates a very own niche).
People are getting older and generally the elder generation is wealthy but they need help. New jobs are needed to help this huge generation of elderly people - and most of them in USA can afford to pay for the services.

We're on the verge of a massively unprecedented economic collapse, why the hell would anybody think this is a good time to invest in the stock market? I'm only interested in land, food, water purification, 3d printers, and cryptos. Everything else is an illusion.

Actually some economies has already started to recover (USA especially).
Stock markets for speculators might be bad places to invest now but if you are looking for dividend income for the rest of your life, there are some good stocks to buy.
Advantage of a dividend paying stock over land for instance is that once you have purchased a stock you just enjoy the dividend income for the rest of your life pretty much while land you need to cultivate or rent for some other people (read: more hassle).
A dividend paying stock portfolio is kind of "extra salary" for you. I know it sounds much much more boring than exciting crypto world or 3d printers etc but it is all about how one can become financially free at some point of a life once your dividend paying stock portfolio is paying enough of dividends.

My original idea was to build a small dividend income which will be led to Unobtanium "for ever at any given price" thus enabling at some point very high price for 1 UNO.

If some economies were actually recovering the fed would be raising interest rates.  With the falling oil price, things will get much worse.

...and on a side note.  I work in the oil industry here in Canada.  Ive worked a total of 10 days this month.  Lots of people have been laid-off up here.  Over the last 5 years there has been a massive boom up here, people building huge homes($300 000-$500 000)  Most people live for cheque to cheque and live the high life.  In 6 months, things are going to be different.  If you want to believe the bs that the government and msm is telling you, go ahead.  Remember, in 2008, nobody seen that coming Roll Eyes

The whole system is lying to us.  If I am wrong, someone please correct me.  Here is an example of the MASSIVE corruption.  There are roughly 33 million people living in Canada.  Say 5 million people are working full time(im sure this number is higher, but lets be conservative.)  I dont make much money, but I do pay about 10 000/year to income tax(again being conservative, I pay much more) but for this example, lets use 5000 and lets assume the 5 million are paying the same.  5 000 000 x 5 000 =$ 25 000 000 000.  My government is in debt!??  Now, lets talk about other taxes, PST-provincial tax, GST-good and service tax, customs tax, fuel tax, fk everything is basically taxed.  Somebody please tell me where all this money is going??

Oil price has dropped significiantly but this should be good for US economy.
Not for the producers of oil but for the consumers of oil, their purchasing power is increasing which will stimulate the consumption (US is still consumption driven economy).
Things are in many ways better now than in 2007-2008. Those years were time before the collapse, now we are living in the time after the collapse.
Sure the average Joe cannot notice the growth immediately (just like the Quantitative easining needs some time to stimulate the real economy) but if we get a few years (1-3 yrs) in a row this growth rate you will notice also the difference.
I am personally glad for Americans that Ben Bernanke started the QE in an aggressive way, thanks to it we now see the growth aftetr some time they did the QEs.
ECB had on the other the completely different approach, they were scared to death of small increase in inflation and thanks to this fear we are still living in bad economy. Just now the ECB is waking up as they see those statistics from USA and now they started QEs here also.. It takes some time that this new money enters to the real economy so we need to waite here in Europe while USA is enjoying normal growth rates.

bs, In 2008, I was working full time, making more money!  They did the same thing in the 1920-30, they thought they could spend their way out of it.  Everyone is printing fiat like its going out of style, currency wars.  Hyperinflation is coming, wait till china starts dumping.  http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2015-02-18/russia-dumps-most-us-paper-ever-china-reduces-treasurys-holdings-january-2013-levels
All the money their printing is going straight in the markets, its not a real recovery!

The most recent GDP growth rate from USA is 2.5 %.
Unfortunately some industries are worse still than 2007-2008 but overall, the worst looks to be over.

the biggest sign that the us economy is in massive trouble

http://www.usdebtclock.org/

Now you are assuming that the public debt is similar to the private debt.
USA do not need ever to repay their debt (why should they - after all it is just a figure on the graph).
In a private household on the other hand, debt is something that you need to repay at some reasonable schedule.

I am not too worried about the debt, I am more worried if this GDP growth continue this good for next few years so that the average Joes are able to see the difference, too.  Smiley
I have no reason to believe it will not continue like this.

Goodness, cragv. No need to apologise. I'd like to discuss the issue at length, actually.

And True Cryptonaire: 'If the trust issues can be done somehow without governement, so by all means let's do it.' Gotta be, I think. You would really really enjoy a BBC documentary titled 'The Trap,' which examines the relationship between game theory and world politics and classical social-democratist and neo-liberal politics.

Thank you.
I will try to find that documentary, perhaps it is on youtube or netflix?

While the rise is positive, as always be careful buying at the top of a pump. The books are thin both sides. Speculate for the future but be careful trying to time it to perfection. There will be profit takers all the way up and many more holding bags from a much higher price.

*disclaimer, I sold my chunk I bought around 0.001 last week a few hours ago. I firmly beleive Ill have a chance to buy them back again lower than we are now. This of course doesnt include my long term holdings which are coming around to their 1 year anniversary soon Cheesy

Exactly. Never hoard coins on the top of the pump.

Somehow there should be some regulation but on the other hand not too much so that it will not kill the enthusiasm.
I'm sick and tired of people with the delusion that government (gubernare 'to control' mente 'mind') is there to 'save' them or 'help' them.  Government is there only to suppress and control people on behalf of the psychopathic elite.  Certain 'isms propagate something called the 'savior myth', which leaves the victim helpless by commandeering their minds, their attention (consciousness=soul).

We can only save ourselves, and cryptos are one of many solutions.

Are you actually calling for 'regulation'?!  I don't think you understand the purpose of decentralized solutions, which are assymetric warfare against the scourge that government and their master central banks are.  Cryptocurrencies are primarily a decentralized solution, basically.  Some of your 'regulation' may be hardcoded into these trustless systems.

-

...And it isn't about the individuals in the governing agencies, as they have almost no leeway to make decisions, having hard-coded solutions for just about everything, similar to mindless robots.  They must do as they are instructed from their centrally-organized pyramidal organization, or they suffer severe consequences.  Same for organized crime, which is generally another arm of the elite.  Same for the militaries and paramilitaries.  Same for those who propagate the 'savior myth' in the minds of the sheep.  Notice a pattern in the architecture of your world?

-

We are surrounded by resources, but we are not allowed to use them, to grow, to create with them, and many people are too drugged out these days to realize their dreams if they had the chance to access these resources!  Motivation and creativity are culled effectively.  Nobody seeks self-sufficiency, and misinterprets the term to believe it has something to do with their fiat slave money.

-

NOTE:  Obviously, I don't speak for the Unobtanium community, and this opinion is only my own.  Wink

I totally get your point.
When I was younger I used to think also that everything the governement does is bad, evil and inefficient.
However, if cryptos have taught me something it is to appreciate the regulations the governement gives to the financial markets.
Of course it will not completely takes off the scams (we had Madoff scam in Wall street), but at least if the governement regulates these exchanges we for sure have significiantly less scams. Now as there is no regulations, you basically are unable to trust.
If the trust issues can be done somehow without governement, so by all means let's do it.
I know this community is good and people here are good but as the community grows when people start to pay attention to the chart it also attracts scam and con artists.

I do not know what are superior stocks to hold but I am personally looking for one particular: Realty Income (New York Stock Exchange).
I do not own this stock but their dividend history is, well, convincing.

I see the pros of Realty Income, but I would like to discuss about the cons (other than the markets in general might tank this year). I am more interested in wether Realty Income is a good stock to own or not.

Currently it pays 4.4 % dividend annually, but divided by 12 (it pays every month). It is a good company in the sense of getting additional "salary".
I am looking for this type of companies and with this additional income buy some UNOs.. I think I might dedicate a few grands for buying this stock (or some other similar) and with the dividends put some pressure on UNO price.  Wink
If the whole community owns some residual income investment vehicles and invests to UNO this income, there is really no limit how high UNO will grow in price since the infinite streams of dividends are flowing constantly towards scarce UNO.

This helps the whole community: the owner of stocks and a buyer of UNOs gets more UNOs and the other "free riders" enjoy more and more expensive UNO price.

Since holding income streams and buying UNOs is something I want to do for the long haul, I am really interested in knowing if there is indeed some setbacks owning Realty Income (over perhaps some other stocks). I have not bought yet any stocks so I am kind of undecided and open for other stock suggestions and high quality analysis, too.

I have purchased a little bit cloud hashing.
I am mining bitcoins with Genesis Mining and planning to to the mined bitcoins to pressure Unobtanium's price higher.
So very small percentage of bitcoin's inflation is setting pressure for Uno's price.

I suggest also other community members to get some cash flow assets (perhaps stocks that pay didvends every month from US stock exchange, rental properties etc) and put some constant buying pressure on Unobtanium.
One alternative is also to invest in p2p loans at btcjam.com. However, be careful there, invest only the best grades - otherwise you end up getting large numbers of defaults.

Dont put money into the stock market!  The seven year cycle...2015!   Everyone has been printing SO much fiat!

To put or not to put money into stock markets depends on one's approach to stock markets.
If you are a speculator and willing to bet if the markets go up or down then I agree. It has been pretty much running up since spring 2009, more or less.
However, if you approach stockmarkets with the point of view of an investor you might want to buy the stocks regardless of the price.
Buying a stock that gives you steady stream of monthly/quarterly/annually income might be a good idea if you are not intending to sell it but just buy because of the dividend.
There are some stocks that have been paying dividends for ages. They are not too common, but definetely they exist.

@ B.N. Cyprus was the victim of the first 'bail-in.' Perhaps more to the point, it has slipped most people's attention that bail-ins have been legislated as The New Model in a swathe of countries.

@ T.C.: "I suggest also other community members to get some cash flow assets (perhaps stocks that pay didvends every month from US stock exchange, rental properties etc) and put some constant buying pressure on Unobtanium."

Pile into Distributed-Vault Coin, T.C.! Although the 'marker' is 2 oz. silver per DVC, we are weeks away from issuing 'equity DVC' -- chunks of 'locked down' Uno on which more DVC will be issued.

THEN: we are gonna work out ways of putting other assets 'in the Vault.' My very first thought was a $500 chunk of Genesis -- come and help us figure out how to set up a decentralised management model for such an asset.

(and the activity on Un-Ex also puts upward pressure on Uno's price -- death to the Cryptsy wallet!)

m

Well, I guess in small scale it might work out fine but when it becomes larger, it may not work that well anymore unless there is a governement that monitors which has also its downsizes.
Somehow there should be some regulation but on the other hand not too much so that it will not kill the enthusiasm.
This works the best as every member of the community does the investing in their own home and are responsible for themselves. This prevents the attempts of scamming when the community gets wealthier.

I like investing in cashflow assets anyway so I am doing this and dedicating some investment income to buying me more UNOs.
My cashflow investments and larger UNO stakes are also beneficial for other members in the community since it is a way to prevent dumps (why to dump UNO if you know that there is a community member(s) who are buying it from the sell-order books regardless the price).
Dumping a coin is a desperate act of lack of liquidity. If I had to pay my bills and all I have is UNOs, I would dump them to get the cash as soon as possible. But since I am not desperate, I am not dumping.
It is important that especially the newcomers are managing their personal finances in a way that they do not need to sell their coins anytime soon. This enables the price to go up forever without limits.
It is like a pyramid scheme: you might look today that you are on the bottom of the pyramid but waite a few months/years and behold, you are much higher with your initial investments since there is demand for the coin.

Looks like the irrational stupidity (=dumping).
The price looks incredibly stable which indicates a rally as the sell orders will be eventually eaten.
In summer 2015 I expect the price stabilized around 0.1 BTC/UNO (6 months from now).
If there will come some stupid rallies (like we recently had from 0.01 => 0.03'ish) it might take longer since the correction period of 2-3 weeks is following the rally which will prolong the trendline-rise.

Looks like there is terrible buying pressure at UNO around these prices.
The buys are much larger than the sells which is something that cannot take place for long time without serious price corrections to upwards.
Looks like a rocket that is making a break-through atmosphere.

I am super excited when it comes the bright outlook of the future for 3+ yrs with Unobtanium.
I am very thankful I found this coin and awesome community. I am serious.

Beat Hyper Inflation

0.25 UN = the New Quarter
0.10 UN = the New Dime
0.05 UN = the New Nickle
0.01 UN = the New Penny

1 Un = the new dollar
rapidly approaching the value of a good old fashion silver dollar

Actually UNO is much scarcier than physical gold bullion.
I am expecting UNO exceeding Gold price at some point down the line.
How many kilograms there exists physical gold and how many kilograms there exists UNOs?

Just a quick reminder, 1 kg of gold bullion costs well over 30 000 USD.

Just saying....  Wink Shocked

...

We should shift focus not on Retail but B2B.
Example ... need $5000 deposit to set a deal up (says producer/manufacture).  Deal agreed deposited in 3mins.  Later everyone unwinds in bank credits and UNO goes back to buyer.  (see not being used to buy just to secure)

I like this idea very much.
Very practical and very Unobtanium-like (not being a token but a collateral asset).

Or, lose some coins playing diceSmiley

Now is a good opportunity to start hoarding, but be careful - it is an addictive hobby so be careful not to buy a huge number of coins since it causes too much volatility.

This discussion is a good one but lest we derail the UNO thread, perhaps interested parties might continue it in the Politics and Society or Off-Topic area of the forums? I've stopped myself from replying to this for the sake of the greater UNO thread and wanted to note it might be an idea to simply start a new one and post the link to it here. Debates and deeper discussion could then be had in peace without getting away from the point of this thread! Cheers.

I feel also a little bit unconformtable to speak in that much personal level but I felt the urgency to answear since I was trolled to do so.  Grin
I am not interested in continueing it anymore.

Uno looks like it has risen a little bit.
I am looking forward to March - it will be awesome month for UNO's chart.
I think it will stabilize over 0.02 after some time and then it is ready for passing 0.03.
