Although Mike Hearn did say that they are scrapping the address system altogether eventually, right?
Could you share a link to it? Thanks. Here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=428777.0 Time to scrap addresses. They are too limited and problematic. The Payment Protocol to replace addresses. Supports refunds, memos, receipts, proof-of-purchase, and digital signature. Thanks a lot. I totally miss it.

Looks like a student-run publication to me. So we can expect journalism to improve soon EVEN MORE than it already has in the last few years. Hooraw.
About Us Medill Reports is written and produced by graduate journalism students at Northwestern University’s Medill school.
Fail! No graduate degree for you! (What's that? Paid tuition? OK. Pass!)

Nope , everybody that knows your cc number and cv2 can use that card and buy a porn subscription.
But to do so would be theft because the centralized authority who facilitates the transactions has deemed me the owner of the account. No such authority gives people the same right over their BTC addresses. Is there a central authority who deemed me the owner of my cat? But stealing it from me is still theft . Anyhow , there are so many threads here with this subject , don't start another flame war. Use the search function. And the rule around here is > DON'T USE A BRAIN WALLET!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Off topic question, what about using sha(password) for the brain wallet? Or maybe hashing the password multiple times?

But that's a good start if you spend all your money in the casino and your like oh yea I have some BTC. Not to mention that would be a good way to cash out without worrying about some crooked exchange or something.
True. You could still have a great dinner after losing all your "money" lol

So, as of today, you can use bitcoin to pay for a room or a dinner or a T-shirt at the Golden Gate, holding your phone’s bitcoin wallet up to tablets set up inside the hotel, but you can’t swap your bitcoins for casino chips. Still a long way to go

Yeah it looks like you are getting ~6500 satoshi per block. You could make more cloud mining, my signature will get you all the info Pay 0.038+ for 1 GH/s will not give you profit at all. Well, maybe getting people to signup using referral link is profitable At 3% per referral, you'd have to refer a lot of big whales to receive anything decent only through referrals. 0.038 BTC per GH/s is indeed way too high "just" to mine. It makes no sense to pay that much anymore. Maybe last November, but not now. Though has made many posts in the mining board, but I guess real whales won't be lured that easily

You can do mining. But, you can't mine any block.

Any wallet to keep all coins? as Neuvira, but completely safe
All coins? Certainly no. But if you are talking about multiple coins, then I have heard of this one (never used it myself). http://ufasoft.com/coin/

If I understand correctly, you can directly mine using the qt wallet using -gen. But it is not efficient at all, and you can get way better results with a miner software.

To motivate people participating in this, I am paying BTC for participating in this study. However, the BTC have to come from somewhere and it is hard to get some scientific funding.
This sounds a bit strange to me... So, you are "co-operating" with others to crack the keys and share the proceeds?

All horseshit aside, to clarify all of this:
It seems that any reused Bitcoin address is potentially vulnerable to attack because right now there is no way to know if it's close to a rendezvous point?
But addresses that haven't been reused are safe, but only because the public key for that address has not been broadcast yet? As soon as the public key is broadcast by spending from an address it becomes vulnerable?
I've been noticing rumblings of this before from a privacy point of view, but it seems now we have even more reason to stop reusing addresses.
Since this is very important, can you define "reused"? Do you mean accept incoming funds, but don't transmit any funds out except to drain the address?? thanks When bitcoin is sent out of an address, the public key of that address will be known to the world.

How so? Come on man.
The popular Christian belief is that Jesus died for ALL of your sins. Suicidal individuals that believe they will go to heaven, are more likely to commit suicide. When dealing with suicidal individuals, avoid anything that may have any good after death experiences(most religions). Take the person to a morg and let them touch a cold body instead. Nothing like seeing a real dead person, to scare the suicidal thoughts right out of someone. Letting them attempt suicide also works pretty good, alot of really anguished thoughts cross a suicidal persons mind while attempting suicide. I recommended the book and method as it takes ALOT of prep, during which most people would come to their senses. Belief in an afterlife can either promote OR discourage suicide - many religious traditions hold that suicide is a sin. Letting someone attempt it is NEVER a good idea - not only is there the obvious risk of them succeeding but there are also plenty of common methods which may not be lethal but will cause lasting damage. The way to help someone who is suicidal is to get them to a good psychiatrist. Werent you arrested? BITINSTANT GUY? He is the Co-founder and CTO (from his profile) Not everyone in BitInstant were arrested lol

Any evidance for your guess It seems like an ordinary address to me...

I am not really sure if this is a good idea

This issue has probably been discussed before ... Yes. Many, many, many, many, times. ... Once coin blacklisting and address-2-identity correlation systems are ready to go I'd expect the issue to be re-visited. I'll wager that a lot of people who were against the idea (forced spending) will suddenly realize that it is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Particularly those with ties to the Bitcoin Foundation. Thanks for a sensible reply. Since the issue as mentioned has been discussed several times before it's probably better to end it here and revisit in a few years. This issue has been discussed many times in the past. But, I am sure, it will be brought up again and again
