241  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Innosilicon releases A9 Zmaster 50ksol/s Equihash miner at 620W on: July 05, 2018, 09:09:16 AM
Hi, maybe its a problem with the pools?
I have mine on nicehash right now and I am getting this:
Nicehash shows 98000 Sol/s. That seems fine.
Graph on nicehash looks like this:

I am wondering why the A9 shows this strange curve. Like the hashrate drops for some time. But why?
Profit on nicehash seems to be nearly as estimated.

Ideas?

What you have in hashrate report, I got on Nicehash 23% rejected orders. So from 50 kH/s, nicehash confirmed only 33-38 kH/s, rest - rejected...

I have 0.50% rejected. Seems fine.
All seems fine, except the reported speed from the miner.

Question: did you using 100 Mbits ot 1 Gbits network switch for miners?
Its a gigabit port on the switch, but connected via Wifi and internet connection is a slow one.
I dont think its my internet.

Can you post what your graphs look like?

Zcash Flypool..

37.2 KH/s   1394 (76%)   451 (24%)   8 minutes ago
37.0 KH/s   1386 (75%)   456 (25%)   8 minutes ago

Now I had 13% rejects on Nicehash. I rebooted and it went down to 1%.

So what is considered as 'Good Deal' for this device. I mean if you buy this at $10,000 and it makes you $80 per day, its still $2400 a month and payback period could be down to 4 months, but we all know that's not realistic as difficulty goes up and profit per day goes down. So at what price this seems like a safe bet and can be considered as a good investment, considering every factor. I am thinking $6000 purchase price seems pretty good if it can be delivered in a day or two.
You have to decide that. You get 2 units for 10k$. If you plan to mine and hold, you may increase or decrease your profit. If you just want to ROI fast, you have to consider how many ASICs hit the network. Nobody knows that, its guess. Also you have to consider forks. If Zcash etc. dont fork, at least for the next months, profit will be good.
I would not buy an ASIC and take profits or ROI as given depending on todays facts. I would only invest part of my profits and consider it as a risky investment.
See, worst case: You buy one, it breaks after some days, you send it to warranty, it takes weeks to return, you miss the high profit phase.

In general: First batch adopters have a reasonable chance to get ROI if they get their units fast. 2nd batches seem to be fine also. But every overpriced 3rd and higher batch ASIC, especially if other companies also flood the market, is a bad idea.
Examples: Baikal BK-X for 1600$: They hope customers believe in ultra profits with non specified "more algorithms" that shall come somewhen. ROI is like 400 days right now.
Bitmain: Every miner they sell at the moment - although the Z9 for August might be a buy if you have a 300$ coupon. Consider forks though...

Quick question, what's the average uptime on your D9's? I'm getting around 18 hours - 2 days between resets, not sure if it is normal behaviour.

Same is happening for me! It automatically restarts, I think that is the issue with my A4+'s too. It keeps restarting all of a sudden. For D9, one of my boards stopped working automatically as well. Had to send it to China for warranty. Waiting to hear from them.

One of my hashboards also stopped working. Did you talk to support? I will have to check tomorrow, maybe its just some problem with a contact or so.
What about customs, if you return a unit for warranty?

3 BTM per day at uupool. How is Antpool doing?
248  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: DIY FPGA Mining rig for any algorithm with fast ROI on: June 30, 2018, 09:34:42 PM
Can someone explain how to read specs of a FPGA? I know to read and compare GPU specs and tell what is "good", "fast", "if this is high, its good for mining this or that"...

FPGAs are not GPUs.At all. They are completely different.  Every board design requires essentially its own miner to be specially created for it. You basically need to get one of the ones the community is focused around or have the resources to develop your own. Every miner will run at some unique clock speed and power envelope. The FPGA does not have a native clock speed.

With that said, specs are usually on the AC & DC Switching Characteristics datasheets. Generally useful comparison points are the number of LUTs, or sometimes easier the number of Logic Elements, amount of Block Ram, amount of Distributed Ram, amount of Ultraram (keep in mind all memory sizes are usually specified in bits, not bytes, so divide by 8 to get numbers you’re used to), speed rating, temperature rating, family (Kintex vs Virtex), process (45nm, 28nm, 16nm - usually results in higher maximum clock speed or lower power). What hardblocks(PCIe, memory controllers, DSPs) are included, maximum power capacity. Mounting size.

In short it is very complicated and the selection of a specific chip for a new board or project is a whole project in and of itself.

Thank you very much for that explanation. Ok, I think I have to read more about FPGA.
Are they expensive because they are complicated to produce or because there are not much cards available? I saw an interview with a guy from Xilinx in which he explained a bit that the cards need extensive testing.
Or can we expect soon a crazy Bitmain FPGA miner? Because, if its just ressources, why would they not develop one, call TSMC and build a million?

I dont understand why they keep the prices at 1599$. Thats a ROI of 300-400 days. I wont bet profit will rise again over 10$, which would be a good ROI of 150 days.

I am confused. So can we overclock the Baikals or not?  Grin
252  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Antminer B3 Bytom Mining First review on: June 16, 2018, 04:02:45 PM
Yes, but unless bitmain included more powerful chips and decreased performance on purpose to slowly increase afterwards with firmware upgrades, I dont think we will get crazy high hashrstes.
Considering chip temperatures, maybe a slight increase is still possible. But I would not bet on that.

I think he does included more powerful chips and decreased performance on purpose to slowly increase afterwards with firmware upgrades.  Will see i hope those chips can do much more then what they doing now.

Maybe. Like Baikal most likely included all algos in their BK X and unlock them after some time...

Is there a list of coins that shows which will fork?
Also, does it work on nicehash?

That's when mine was despatched (well, the day after, 5th May). It took about a week to arrive from China though. Pretty sure it was Batch #1 ... Ordered it on 25/04/18.

Yeah, but what did you pay?
256  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 2.1T 900W, Innosilicon Blake256 D9 DecredMaster/ 3.83T 1380W, S11 SiaMaster on: June 15, 2018, 05:02:22 AM
Is it somehow possible now to connect to nicehash?
257  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Antminer B3 Bytom Mining First review on: June 15, 2018, 04:52:32 AM

Not sure what everyone else paid for their batch #1 B3 but I paid 1875 USD, minus a 350 USD coupon I received for an earlier purchase, so 1525 USD (plus shipping).

I received the promised partial refund of 0.61228814 BCH (~545 USD at today's exchange rate) a couple of days ago, meaning I paid a little under $1000 USD for the B3. The refund is actually greater than it seems when you consider the BCH price drop. I only paid about 1.3 BCH for the B3 so in fact they refunded almost half of the cost.

My B3 has been working almost continuously since the day it arrived about 1 month ago and has currently made about 600 BTM (roughly 300 USD, or about 0.33 BCH).

Although you may have gotten your B3 pretty quickly it wasn't Batch 1.  Batch 1 started mining on May 4th.   I've made over 1700 BTM since getting mine.  Not saying you didn't get a better deal....
[/quote]

It shows now 1875 USD. Thats the corrected price with the discount. Batch 1 actually was 2453 USD with PSU.
Check how much you sent them.

Also: I am Batch one buyer and made only about 500 BTM because I received mine somehow late.
258  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Baikal Giant X10 on: June 09, 2018, 04:39:13 PM
Hi guys, I have got the following "problem". I put my BK X on nicehash. Restored the backup config to get SMA work correctly. But when it changes algo it seems to make a longer pause. It "seems" more profitable to set one algo manually so it wont stop mining while changing algos.
Did someone observe that, too?

I have to correct. Its not the SMA. After some time my hashboards hang. They show high hashrate, lower utility but do not submit hashes. Miner soft reset helps.
Any ideas?

I would auto reboot the miners every 8 hours, see my post here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1843700.msg37095051#msg37095051

Also concerning algo switching Baikal told me, it only works, if you use their preconfigured pools, e.g. from nicehash with sma. Setting it manually does not work. This seems to be known.
So you need to restore the example pools and replace the wallet with yours.
