I have 4 spare S4 hash boards if you'd like to repair your S4. Pm me if interested.

Virosa, /etc/init.d/cgminer.sh

Do you still have these Hash boards?  I received an S4 that has 2, possibly 3 bad Hash boards that need replacing.

If you can double check to see its not the psu.  The psus failing are common and would cause the boards to look as though they are bad.

Seems if someone runs that many miners the research for problems would have come first.
Have you read through the many other posts on this same S5 topic.  Just saying it's been addressed.

Should we get some news this week on your test pods or will it be next week?
Overly anxious for some info.
244  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: s5 not hashing full? on: October 31, 2015, 02:35:49 PM
What size psu are you running?  Many issues are addressed with insufficient power.
245  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Oct 11 to Nov 11 Sidehack stick pool club. on: October 31, 2015, 01:35:08 AM
Been messing around with my sticks... so they are off and on.  Still have issues running different pools from different sticks, I'm using cgminer-gekko and Pi.  The --usb :1 command seems to work as long as there is one instance running but multiple ones read duplicate #'s if labeled --usb :2 and so on.
Has anyone looked into their /etc/rc.local file?  I found Minerd in there mining cpu hashes for someones ghash.io acct.  (worth checking) or is this just an example?

--usb :# is for the # of sticks you want to run on each instance of cgminer. So usb :2 would do 2 sticks.

Also found it helps to put a sleep in before the next instance starts in the /etc/rc.local

sudo ./cgminer -o pool -u
sleep 10s        (just tells it to wait 10 seconds, before starting 2nd cgminer and most times 6 seconds will do, but whats an extra 4 seconds?)
sudo ./cgminer -o pool -u

Thank you I will try later.  Haven't explored cgminer since my gpu rigs but thanks again.
When I added those lines in the /etc folder it did not auto start for me.

With the Pi being Linux (unless your using some thing else for the Pi) you have to do the sudo cp 01-cgminer.rules /etc/udev/rules.d/ from within the cgminer-gekko dir.

Also need to sudo usermod -G plugdev -a "what ever user name you used" (it's probably already done, but just to make sure and without "").

My /etc/rc.local looks like this.

#!/bin/sh -e

(cut out standard lines)

# By default this script does nothing.

cd /home/pi/cgminer-gekko (pi as example)
sleep 10s  (if you want, just to give the Pi time to boot up)
screen -dmS cgminer sudo ./cgminer -o stratum+tcp://solo.ckpool.org:3333 -u xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx --usb :1 --compac-freq 250 --suggest-diff 16 --widescreen --worktime -o stratum+tcp://stratum.kano.is:3333 -u xxxxxx  (all on one line)
sleep 10s
screen -dmS cgminer sudo ./cgminer -o stratum+tcp://solo.ckpool.org:3333 -u 1JiWuyX94wrCr7JhkAn7x5qNMCEef1KhqX.Jake36stick --usb :4 --com :4 --compac-freq 250 --suggest-diff 68 --widescreen --worktime -o stratum+tcp://stratum.kano.is:3333 -u xxxxxxx  (all on one line)

exit 0

Plus, if you make a mistake on 1 or both of the long lines, 1 or both usually wont start mining.
Thanks.  Tricky and lots of learning to do.  One last question for now.. I ssh'd into the pi just to get it running.  When you do that it doesn't display cgminer-gekko on the pi screen, is it possible to get the screen working when doing so?

Have you double checked previous pages?  I know I've seen more than a few recently in here.  I love mine.  Nothing like turning your gpu rigs back into spare computers.

I think a shirt order might be a fun idea with that as the theme.  It worked before.

You need to format the SD card before using it with Win32 Disk Imager which I prefer.  The best free formatter is from SD themselves..
here:  https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/
After that you will need the image... ZoomHash has one and so does Dogie.
ZoomHash image for S4: http://p.lewd.es/antminer-s4-3-12-15.img.gz

There are new posts of new experimental S4 images here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=940250.0

The problems you are having are common.  It's hard on the SD cards file system to shut off/on with the psu.
Just like it would be for your computer....BSOD!  Your card could be damaged but I doubt it.
**Just be aware the original psu's are to blame for most of your problems possibly.

Try and reinstall your image again.

Are the login details different on the zoomhash image? root/admin isn't letting me in.

Does anyone have a link to Doggies latest image?

Or can i just copy from the working SD to the new SD? (That sounds plausible I'll look into that)
I didn't suggest copying your existng sd just in case it was corrupt.  Glad its working.  The login would have been root and root fyi.

Putting your weiner in it voids the warranty.
So there is a warranty?  Nice!  I'll be sure to clean it real good before I send it in. Wink
251  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BITMAIN AntRouter R1: 1st wireless networking device with bitcoin mining chip on: October 29, 2015, 02:17:50 PM
If this firmware can be cracked I'd buy one.  Until then I'm on the sidelines waiting to play.
Just don't like the idea of being forced to mine on antpool.

That is far better than Porn in my book.  Can't wait for everyone to post their Pod pic setups.
253  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Avalon 6 Vs Antminer S7, which one you will choose? on: October 29, 2015, 04:38:46 AM
If they were in Washington I'd visit them daily and they'd grow to love me.   Cheesy
Too bad we can't see another $400-$500 miner with the latest tech, I have a hard time
shelling out $1000+ for anything.

If I was building I'd shoot for 2TH topend and about $400 price tag for a pair of S1-refit boards. That's a good price range for consumer miners.

I know, I think the wait for chips to be supplied to you is driving us all batty!  I am excited for the pods.  But I need another
"Miner Heater" for my house other than my S2 which I will happily send to you when we have the green light.  Pods by Thanksgiving
would be killer.

255  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is mining dead ? on: October 29, 2015, 03:59:42 AM
Mining is not dead.  It may not be so profitable right now but things change.
Mining for profit and income you will need to invest some dough if you didn't get in early.
But for me it can only be a hobby right now, you have to overcome the power to profit in order to expand.  A Hobby/obsession but I digress.
256  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Sfards: SF100-the first 28nm Dual-Mode Miner gets into mass production on: October 29, 2015, 03:49:18 AM
I bought a used SFARD from ITOPSHOP, the price was good but very high to roi easilly, and i don't know where is another SFARD on sale...

It was a release a very very small number of resellers that each got 5 units. I would say not a huge launch on it at all.

The price actually was pretty high on ITOP i think it was suppose to sell around 1.2k at release and ITOP was around 1.5k.  So they set on them for quiet a while.  Most sold long ago on what was available to public. ITOP sit on ones that didnt sell and mined them.  So you got lucky to even find one.

Chances of finding another store just mining with these is rare, so  you chances are will have to get from 3rd party that also bought one if you want another one.  I might suggest doing some ROI math though before going in deeper with them.   There was a reason they sit there for so long at 1.5k

Strange company to say the least.  Makes me sick what I paid for my first couple S1's.
257  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: New to Mining need help ! on: October 29, 2015, 03:38:58 AM
Can I come live with you?  Wink
First off be ready for the heat, the noise.  You should consider those factors... you don't want to piss the
parents off.
258  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 Discussion and Support Thread on: October 29, 2015, 03:28:16 AM
Those are firmware upgrades, not complete images ( correct me if I'm wrong).  They get upgraded through the GUI interface from your S4 not written to the SD card.  Well at least not written by you. Roll Eyes

260  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Avalon 6 Vs Antminer S7, which one you will choose? on: October 29, 2015, 01:04:42 AM
Yes, I didn't mean Avalon would adjust pricing just that Bitmain may bow to the competition and release a price competitive miner.

Anyone know electric costs in San Francisco area?  Avalon seems to have wised up and got a US
distributor this time finally.  That is what hurt their sales previously with the 4.1 and if I can
remember you couldn't buy them as a single unit.

San Francisco is not going to be one of the cheapest.  I suspect with such a large amount they got a better then average contract though.  10 MW facility gives you a lot of leverage when talking to electric company.

I suspect SF was picked based on location more then the cheapest price. It would most likely be in Washington if they were looking for lowest price alone.
If they were in Washington I'd visit them daily and they'd grow to love me.   Cheesy
