Well my testing shows intake temps cause large power increase.

67f=1365 watts
76f=1424 watts
81f=1484 watts

I was able to get same results with 2 different psus
And on 2 different pools.

I want to do an 86f room test next
Then a 91f

Thanks for this, I noticed this as well even with my 741s, though it wasn't as extreme.
I even kept the PSU at 25C by building a mini insulated AC rack out of Rigid Insulation, air filters and a portable AC unit.
The S9 and S7 don't seem to have this issue, which seems to make the A841 more efficient in lower temperatures only.
Once summer gets closer, this will most likely be a hot issue.

I sent an email to Steven, let's see if they have some lab test info or etc.  which could help to specify the A841 technical specs more accurately.

Hi HagssFIN - Been a week now... have you heard anything back from Steven?

Was curious about this as well.  There hasn't been a single post in the Blokforge thread since the 21st and Minerwarez since March.
I miss being able to buy from and recommend Canaan over Bitmain, so hopefully this can be resolved soon.
242  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][EXCHANGE] Poloniex - Crypto Exchange with BTC/NXT on: April 27, 2018, 08:44:14 PM
It is hit and miss with them.
I have had a ticket open for several days now for a pretty decent withdraw that never actually sent.
It's no longer in my account, never received it on the other side, and the transaction ID is invalid.

However, given the bar being low for crypto exchanges, they aren't the worst and were amazing up until recently.

Thank you all for the input, I appreciate it.  I'm not sure why I forgot about Parallelminer, as I ordered power adapters from them recently.

How did you hear about the drop in operating temperature from Canaan?  We run ours at around 35c, so this is news to me too.  Let me know.

Thanks again!

I was about to purchase an 841 and noticed it said 30C on the website, and did a double take on the Canaan website to verify that indeed it is now 30C instead of 40C.
Checked the 821 which I knew 100% was 40C just a few days ago as I was showing it to a friend, and that too is now listed at 30C.
Posted about it on Blokforge's forum post, but it was deleted.  Was honestly just curious about it before buying more from them but now they are not within range for myself or any business friends.

In regards to proven record of shipping, MinerWarez held onto numerous paid orders after delays, and then held onto refunds as well until the price tumbled several thousand.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2277516.120

I personally haven't had any issues with Blokforge, they even gave out a coupon to all their customers recently, but they and Canaan did just lower the acceptable operating temperature range from 40C to 30C without any notification, explanation or email.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2616205.280

I have ordered via Amazon from CryptoCrane for many years and haven't had any issues, though you will pay a slight premium over ordering direct.

Thanks HagssFIN, I didn't know about ASICPuppy or Deep In The Mines
245  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon 8 official specs released on: April 23, 2018, 03:29:24 PM
Since it's a product they sell on their site, and they also changed their specifications, I couldn't see how it's off topic.
I am a paying customer of theirs, and Canaan as well since the Avalon 6.
I also wrote up several positive reviews as they are still working as advertised, and several business affiliates have purchased based on my recommendation.
It's a question about a product they are selling, and they are in the business of selling said products.
It will also affect all of their customers except for those in very cold locations year round so it needs to be addressed before end of Spring I would think or thousands of miners will be running well out of their new safe operating range.

I remember the 841 had 35C at one point listed, while the 821 had 40C listed, which makes sense as it is the same cooling system but less power.
I purposely chose the 821 over the 841 given this specification on their website.  At this point I would have been better off going with the S9, especially at the current price and previous pricing.

Both the 741 and 721 were rated at 40C as well https://blokforge.com/product/avalon-741/
However to drop all 8xx to 30C without notice after stating 40C, is unprecedented in the ASIC community as far as I know.
246  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon 8 official specs released on: April 22, 2018, 06:01:35 PM
Wow, that is sad that they deleted my post.
At least it wasn't a shadow delete, as I can see it missing now.
I guess an official reseller of Canaan deemed my post, which is pointing out a possible fire hazard to clients, as off-topic and needs to be deleted.
I've worked at datacenters for over a decade, and if anything widely used changed from 40C to 30C, it would be something that needs to be addressed publicly and quickly.
30C even in active cooling situations could be near impossible in the case of running on backup power; however realistically most mining farms are passively cooled and 30C is only possible 365 days a year in very select locations.
Also, this change was done on Blokforge's website as well without any email notification, so it is indeed on topic.
I already cut all business ties over Minerwarez, and wasn't alone when I left with several other known BCT members as well as personal recommendations I had made due to shady business https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2277516.140
This squelching has left me with no option for purchasing from Canaan or recommending them.

I noticed on both the Canaan website and Blokforge that the heat ranges have been lowered by 10 degrees Celsius.
It use to be 40, and now it is 30.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2616205.0
I didn't get an email about this, and this much of a change would put several miners and farms out of range for this.  Usually that would result in a recall or notification as the norm has been 40C for most miners up until now.
247  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: HASHNEST Discussion and Support Thread on: April 16, 2018, 09:19:38 PM
I haven't had any issues since, so whatever they did fixed everything for me at least.
Anyone else?
248  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain Launches the New Antminer T9 Bitcoin Miner on: April 15, 2018, 02:34:03 PM
I'm definitely going to try these out. I'm hopeful the decreased efficiency is offset by increased reliability.

Update:
Reliability has been great! Not a single failure from the first batch. Reminds me of the S7s.

Update #2:
We've got another 50 T9s arriving the first week of March. Check my signature if you're interested.

Is the reliability that  much worth the loss in efficiency ?

In my experience, yes.
Not to say the T9+ is super reliable, but more that the S9 is very unreliable, especially ever since autotune.
249  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Overt AsicBoost Released today? on: April 03, 2018, 10:12:37 PM
ref my post https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3218166.msg33465262#msg33465262
IF Bitmain were to revise the physical logic inside the chips to use the Halongitosis's overt vs BM's covert AB protocols then yes they would be required to open all of their IP to the public. Don't see that happening.

Thanks NotFuzzyWarm! I always like your posts on here.
The thread seems to be off limits to me now?

Thank you for the coupon in the email!
251  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: GAW / Josh Garza discussion Paycoin XPY xpy.io ION ionomy. ALWAYS MAKE MONEY :) on: March 18, 2018, 05:16:37 PM

Garza colluded with Cryptsy.

Gave them one of those hyper-staking, coin-hosing Paycorn "prime controllers."

Let's impeach him!

I am a bit out of the loop on this, read the first two thousand or so pages around a year ago.

I had a class action lawsuit email for Cryptsy as I was affected, but I never received one for my GAW and my Scrypt hosted miners where I controlled the pool, to a "100% uptime" miner that I couldn't control the pool for, to a hashlet, to thin air.
What should I be doing?
252  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: HASHNEST Discussion and Support Thread on: March 15, 2018, 12:40:39 AM
It took 10 days but the deposit issue seems to be resolved.
Thank you once again Hashnest, sorry but with all the previous virtual miners falling outs, can't help but be a bit on edge after several days of deposits not being credited.
They always come through, which is better than I can say for every other cloud mining service.
253  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: BLOKFORGE- Official Canaan Distributor on: March 13, 2018, 11:50:04 PM
Got my 821 today too. Setup was a breeze. Its a bit louder than I had anticipated. Hopefully the neighbors and wife won't mind. lol

There are some reviewers mentioning a way to get them to run around the same noise as a 741, but personally I am waiting for an official solution as theirs requires increasing the target temperature and lowering voltage via CLI and not the GUI.
254  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: BLOKFORGE- Official Canaan Distributor on: March 13, 2018, 05:39:46 PM
Just wanted to report I got my 821 order without any issues and it works better than advertised.
Thanks Canaan and Blokforge.
I don't think I see a coupon though, where would those be if I had one?
255  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: HASHNEST Discussion and Support Thread on: March 13, 2018, 05:10:40 PM
Just an update, over 1 BTC has been deposited among 3 different traders and none have received a deposit in their hashnest account.
Been over a week now.
Anyone else having this issue on here?
256  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Overt AsicBoost Released today? on: March 07, 2018, 05:19:02 PM
asicboost.com
I am seeing a few news sites picking this up, but nothing I personally trust.
Anyone have more information on it?

From what I can tell, covert asicboost is now invalid, but overt asicboost works, but only for companies that give away their patents.
Not sure if it's related to the huge price drop, or if that's from the Whales dumping in Japan and at the Auction
257  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: HASHNEST Discussion and Support Thread on: March 07, 2018, 03:41:43 AM
Anyone happen to have an idea of why the price of hashnest miners is dropping at such a fast rate?
It started diving around Feb 25th and has yet to recover for S9, Feb 13th for L3+
258  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: HASHNEST Discussion and Support Thread on: March 05, 2018, 05:09:48 PM
Can some give me a good answer on this:

I send BTC to my deposit address arround 15PM UTC on march 2nd, it has now 471 network confirmations
but it's still not on my hasnest wallet/dashboard
transaction was include with another 36 tx's on block #511655 and it was mined by an "unknow" mining pool

can be that "unknow pool" the problem or it is hashnest problem?

in case it is hashnest, when I will get my BTC? I send my entire salary on this for add to my mined btc there to get enought to pay my bills on one payment using bitcoin, my credit card resume expires on march 9th, then the company will disable my credit card to buy until I make de payment, I need my credit card to buy foods and to live using bitcoin...

so, how can I speed up this thing? it's worth to call hashnest phone number hoping they resolve this more faster?

I'm living in Argentina

Same issue here, I thought it was perhaps my bitcoin wallet, but even after updating, deposits are not showing up.
No response to ticket after 48 hours as well.
I would deposit with caution on Hashnest at this time.
259  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: HASHNEST Discussion and Support Thread on: March 04, 2018, 10:04:45 PM
Will Hashnest be able to process deposits from bech32 addresses?

Just before I try it I want to know if anyone has had success depositing with them yet (I see no reason why not considering btc.com allows them on it's block explorer and bitmain own btc.com).

I sent a payment from an old 15.1 wallet, and it never showed up on here.  I have a support ticket open about it for a day so far with no response.

I think they say it should take at least 48 hours for them to respond. They're not the slowest support out there (I mean a lot of exchanges I've used have taken a month to get back to me before now).
That's true, I have yet to have them not fix an issue in a timely manner.
With crypto though, it's always suspenseful.
I myself am not up to speed on bech32 even after researching it, what exactly do I need to do to prevent this from happening beyond upgrading my install to 16.0 ?
