btcguild was my first BTC pool Smiley
Anyone have a good technical post on mining pools that do empty blocks.
I understand it's bad to mine them for the network, but not exactly how it's bad, or how a pool determines if they mine them etc.
Been seeing it posted a lot in various threads but I guess I just haven't found the right post with the right wording to comprehend.

Looks like they removed the S1 S2 and UMISOO section from Hashnest now.
523  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 Discussion and Support Thread on: October 26, 2015, 10:08:40 PM
Which firmware support voltage control of the S4?
Now with the cool weather, I can get 225 and stay under 50c, but I start getting random X's and sometimes the miner will die(no API or Web control) and I have to power cycle it.
Do I need to lower the voltage some to overclock, or raise it in this case?

The older one, you need to rewrite the firmware to a old firmware version, then setup a new CGMiner version. I'd recommend looking into getting the firmware off smits.

Happen to know the last version that supported it?

Which custom version from Smits? Found this person: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=374051
May be going over my head for a few hundred GH, but I love to tinker so seems interesting at the same time Smiley

ScryptJaneNf16.

Is there any chance to mine Jane on Centos? Right now I'm mining Neoscrypt, but every attempt to compile something under linux has failed Sad

Was wondering this as well for Ubuntu 14.04 using AVX2 E5 processors.
Got it to work, but it's extremely slow compared to even a E3-1230v3 using just 4 cores on Windows using the NiceHashMiner.exe

You need to set march=native when compiling

Thanks, after using ./autogen, ./configure CFLAGS="-march=native" , ./build still getting 170H max using 7-16 cores of a http://ark.intel.com/products/81706/Intel-Xeon-Processor-E5-2660-v3-25M-Cache-2_60-GHz compared to E3-1230v3 4 cores in Windows which is 124H.
Seems like it doesn't scale with the additional cores, 7 cores being the best for the 2660 but only slightly faster than just 4 cores of the E3.  Using 7 cores on the E3 I'm able to reach around 150~h but it gets some rejects for some reason.
Either way thanks for the help!

S2/UMISOO is profitable again with the increase in BTC value.
I still have 1TH, does it activate again, or is there a way to simply get rid of it without redeeming it, etc?
Don't want it to negatively effect my balance of S5 and S7 earnings.

Wanted to report the new benchmark works great.
One issue is no matter what the priority seems to be Normal instead of Idle or Below Normal.
I even tried manually setting it using --cpu-priority 0 and still shows as Normal instead of Idle.

For CPU, what's the current most profitable algo to use on nicehash on E3-1240v3?

3. If you have same hardware on all machines, you can run benchmark on one, then just copy config.json to all other machines.

4. You may try to debug this by manually launching benchmark. If you define config to launch with console, you will see startup parameters. Use the same parameters and see what will happen. It is possible that cpuminer instance crashes for some reason - in such case Terminated would be written, but after benchmark is complete, cpu averaging kicks and may hide the "Terminated" result with speed 0.

3. Hardware ranges from X3470, E3 v1, v2 and v3 of various models 1230-1270.  I can just manually benchmark them for now, was just a feature idea I had.

4. Will debug and check more on this.

Once we have a good idea how to prevent botminers, we can make an autostart, autobenchmark command line options, that could simply what you would like to achieve. But that is not something to arrive so soon, we have other priorities, like adding AMD support, so you better just manually benchmark them - it just few clicks Smiley

Totally understandable, thanks for the quick response.
Autostart is the most important one to prevent botnets from using it in my opinion, though that's a nice feature to have for legit users too.  Catch 22 for sure.
Wonder if there would be a way to require user interaction once, to generate a random start up key or something, that would only work for that hardware set, similar to how games have a unique GUID.
This way if they tried to deploy it via a botnet, every infected machine would need to do a certain task to create the autostart UserID.  Or something that could be done via the nicehash site etc.  Just a random idea I'm not much of a coder lol.

Either way amazing idea and work!

Really like the new NiceHashMiner.
Couple of feature questions/suggestions.
Could you add a % value as well as "less cores" ?
Autostart option in the config file or command line argument?

Such as, only use 40% of cores, rounded up or down or try to use 40% of total CPU, whichever is easiest to program.
A way to have the benchmark run every X hours to re-evaluate itself?
Currently on an X3470 I'm getting 0.00KH for both Axiom and scryptjanenf16, not sure if a longer decimal value needs to be used for those with a weaker CPU.
450KH with lyra2re
Command line arguments to override config.json values such as -lesscpu 4
A priority setting would also be useful.

1. A % or LessThreads gives you the same end effect - controlling number of threads to execute. Giving more parameters regarding this matter would only make config more bloated and confusing. We will keep single value. Everyone can easily calculate what 40% means for their PC. And considering fact that you do not change hardware every day, you need to perform this calculation manually only once.

2. We will add autostart later once we have final product and when some additional system checks are performed. We do not want this tool to become something botnet users would use.

3. Benchmarking every X hours would mean that current active mining is stopped. Probably not something the majority want. The hardware does not change while PC is running and we see no benefit of doing benchmark re-evaluation over time. Neither did you explain why re-evaluation over time would be needed at all.

4. We will probably make more decimal places being displayed. Your CPU is probably very slow for Axiom and ScryptJane, because it doesn't have AVX (and both mentioned algorithms are AVX optimized).

5. Command line options are not supported yet for the same reason as - read point 2.

6. CPU mining priority is automatically set to lowest by cpuminer. The reasons why someone would want to mine with higher priority are unknown to us, but on another side, botnet users would gladly exploit this functionality.

1 and 3. This would be a useful feature as I run this on my home PC and several dedicated servers I bought to originally mine MemoryCoin(that didn't turn out well).  Some of them I run multiple programs on and manually checking benchmark on each could be a hassle. Currently I just run Monero on them and manually tuning each one took a few minutes to find the optimal value.  Having profit switching would be great(also any plans on adding CryptoNight algorithm?).  Perhaps a better idea would only on the first run, or any time a new version if available of NiceHashMiner?

4. I used this on several E3-1240v3 and got 0.00 for all 3 values running Windows Server 2008 R2.
I manually ran them and got 580KH, .05KH and .03KH on 4 cores so something with the benchmark tool seems off.  On the X3470, only lyra2re showed a value which was accurate, while on the E3 v3 it showed 0.00 for all 3 CPU values.  I tried the fast, normal, and lengthy benchmark and got the same result.

6. Did not notice it already started in idle priority, this is what I was wanting to do, though having the option of running it as below normal might be nice for sets of hardware I run nothing else on?  Doesn't really seem to make a difference in hash rate either way.

Been using YAM in the past, but doesn't seem to support BCN+FCN.
535  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: October 11, 2015, 07:06:08 PM
Would this work for the S7?
How many VGA cords would I be short on, and would there be a way to fix that?
http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=120-G2-1600-X1

this has nine pcie cords some are 2x headed plug all into the 3 boards  leave the 2 headed pcie cords  ½ empty just use 1 head.

the empty heads are great to show you full load volt measurements

this is easy to fix  use 1 sata to pcie adapter   and plug it into the controller

Thanks so much, the S7 needs 10 pcie 6 pin plugs correct?

537  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: October 11, 2015, 05:42:46 AM
With the S7 shipping delays and issues (based on forum posts) I would love something similar to the SP20.
100% of my SP20s are still going strong with zero care from me, while 2 S5s and 3 S4s have had board failures and lock ups.
I did have 2 boards fail on a SP20, however I did buy them used and at a huge discount so even then I still already hit ROI.
Please Spondoolies-Tech, release something smaller than the 110TH titan.

Is there an "official" reseller on Amazon or Credit Card accepting website for the S7?

eBay is about your only choice to purchase with credit card via PayPal at a price that isn't too outrageous.  I've seen one sell for $1,864 with $26.00 shipping cost.

Thanks, are any of them inclusive of the 90 day warranty direct from Bitmain?

Just curious, market rate once S7 is released, should be around .00144 BTC per GH?  Given cost of Miner and PSU?
