241  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How your feels? on: March 07, 2024, 10:45:56 PM
It's extremely high to involved crypto with gambling affairs when we know fully well that its not easy to cope with the financial crisis and the volatility of the crypto market. We play major roles in enabling the sectors of active flow of the system. Losing and profits are the major goals but we should do whatever it takes to become independent. Using crypto to gamble have never been my intentions because there's a whole lot of things that will go wrong in the system. Gambling is important to some of us here but the strong and wise ones will always get their way through milking the system. It's very easy how to be profitable in the space but it does require more efforts.
I don't understand how your reply is relevant to my post or to the thread itself. The topic of this thread is regarding dealing with market volatility when using valuable coins such as Bitcoin or Ethereum.
Many gamblers have stated that the gambling activity they do is just means of having fun without any thought of making money, but I sure there are still several times when mistakes are made under certain conditions.
Like being carried away by the atmosphere and also being too fixated on the pleasure feel so that forget initial goal of having fun and unconsciously make mistake by exceeding limits, this is condition that usually occurs.
No gambler can truly avoid mistakes, even professional gamblers can still experience them even though they are very rare and instability in gambling attitudes is normal.
I gamble for fun but it cannot be denied that certain conditions make me feel different desire by trying to earn more or even recover losses, it just that pressure can always help with the use of really limited money.
Well, we've all made mistakes, especially when starting out, and we occasionally still do, it's inevitable. Gambling's nature isn't really predictable either. We keep seeing posts claiming that they're in for the entertainment. Even though I personally believe that the most important aspect is entertainment, gambling without the money making aspect cannot be considered gambling, and no one would be interested in it without it.
242  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Greek 2023–24 Super League Predictions & Discussion on: March 07, 2024, 09:18:30 PM
So here's the play-off schedule

It's interesting to see these matches having come out of a draw because some very interesting matchups came out of it.

First off, Panathinaikos with Olympiakos on the first match? Whoah haha. Derby of the eternal enemies again! We already got it so many times this season because aside of just superleague matches there was also the Greek cup. Now the play off format gives us another. Maybe it becomes tiring after a certain point though.

Other interesting matches are PAOK with Aris. And from the big teams AEK seems to have it the easiest.
Wow, Panathinaikos vs. Olympiakos, the eternal rivals of the Greek Super League; it'll be a hell of a match, and certainly one I'm going to stay neutral for my own sake. I'm more confident that Olympiakos is going to win, but I'd rather not take any sides. AEK vs. Lamia looks like a safe bet. I'd also consider going for PAOK vs. Aris, supporting PAOK, but they're both great-performing teams, and the outcome can hardly be predictable.

What's your take regarding OFI vs. Kifisia? Both have had decent performances in the past few matches. I'm more optimistic about OFI, but it sounds like a risky option if you ask me. This weekend doesn't look as fruitful as the previous ones.
243  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Mom won 50,000$ in Lottery on: March 07, 2024, 06:57:23 PM
Well everyone knows that winning in lottery is something not so easy and it is a luck based chance that will only hit if you are extremely lucky. If we gamble on other games, the chances of winning are far more than as compared to the lottery. Not only that, the amount we need to participate in the lottery is very minimal so a lot of people will lose but they won't be feeling bad about it because they have not lost any big money.

You can participate in lotteries thinking that the little money you put in gambling will go in vain and wasted but if you are lucky, it can win you a jackpot. Its a game of luck and we never know when we may be lucky. Not participating in lotteries means that we are not giving that 0.01% chance of getting quick rich. Since it does take much to participate, many people are willing to try their luck. Just like that mom stories in the OP post, if she hadn't participated and given up, she would not have been the winner of 50,000$.
We're not anticipating thousands or millions of dollars worth of rewards when gambling on other games, which is why our chances are considerably better. Moreover, most gambling games have very specific outcomes (see roulette, dice, football betting, and so on), while the lottery is composed of numerous tickets with only a few actually winning anything of value. Add the low purchase cost and the large audience you mentioned, and your chances are statistically close to zero.

Personally, I'd rather use that money towards something else; these insignificant amounts we're discussing now can easily add up to reasonable amounts that could be used elsewhere.
244  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin all time high, is it ETF effects or pre halving cycle on: March 07, 2024, 06:23:19 AM
After years in a bear market and waiting for positive news, we who have been with Bitcoin for a long time really shouldn't be upset because Bitcoin is more expensive today than it was 2 months or 2 years ago - we had more than enough time to buy at prices even below $20 000, not to mention how long we've been below the $40 000 level.

You should always look at things from a more positive angle, because let's say everything you accumulated during the last 2 years is worth up to 4 times more and that's a great thing if we know what interest rates are in banks and how much inflation was during that period. Also, everything you buy today will probably be worth twice as much this year - which is certainly a good reason to be optimistic.
I'm not sure if upset is the right word here, but we had plenty of time and opportunities to acquire more Bitcoin. The bear market lasted quite long, with prices even below $20,000 that lasted months. Opportunities were endless, but unfortunately, I wasn't in the best situation to purchase and stuck to signature campaign earnings. I guess you're right about my approach; the truth is that with an average purchase price of $29,000, I've more than doubled my money and will possibly even triple it in the near future.

The only thing I'm missing is earning more than 3 mBTC per week. Due to the lower value, accumulation was a lot faster than it is now, but that's okay.
245  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin all time high, is it ETF effects or pre halving cycle on: March 05, 2024, 11:58:37 AM
I already wrote a lot in the previous post regarding your question, but it's still hard for me to understand that people are so surprised that the price of BTC is rising, which only shows that they don't understand what's actually happening in the background. From the moment the spot ETFs were approved until today, these same funds have bought about 350 000 BTC and that simply has to have an impact on the price, and the halving is just a secondary thing that hasn't happened yet and probably won't show any effects in the first months after it happens.

We have new players in the game, and they are powerful, and have more money under their control than many countries in the world. Given that we have been preparing for this moment for years, it is really strange that many are surprised that the price of BTC is rising before the halving, which will become more and more irrelevant as time goes on.
I also remember discussing it a few weeks before the ETF approval on another thread, and a while later, we mentioned how the ETF approval hasn't had any major surges in price. With that being said, I understand why it has skyrocketed now; however, just two months ago, the price was below $40,000, and now we're heading towards a new ATH. It seems like things are moving too fast, and I was certainly not speculating that this would happen in such a short timeframe.

On the other hand, I'm a little disappointed, because accumulating now is a lot harder than it was a few months ago, but anyway, there's no point in whining. I'm just a little surprised, as it all happened so fast.
246  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin all time high, is it ETF effects or pre halving cycle on: March 04, 2024, 08:33:52 PM
I think bitcoin might reach all-time-high before halving.
Even if it fails to reach ATH before the halving, it doesn't matter. It surpassed $67,500 today, just a tad away from 2021's ATH of $69,000. Such price differences are extremely insignificant at this price range; it's just a matter of typicalities.

I honestly never expected Bitcoin to almost surpass the previous ATH within such a short timeframe. On previous speculation threads, a large number of users, including myself, couldn't imagine seeing a new ATH anywhere before late 2024 or early 2025. It seems like everything happened so fast. I was projecting an average price of $50,000 until March or April; it seemed unrealistic to expect something larger than that. Well, I couldn't be more wrong.

I'm curious, though: what's making Bitcoin surge so fast? Is it the upcoming halving, the ETF approval, or possibly both? Even if that's the case, how do you explain such tremendous growth on such short notice?
247  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Greek 2023–24 Super League Predictions & Discussion on: March 04, 2024, 06:32:07 AM
AEK Athena vs Aris ended in 3 - 3 draw and this match was really quite surprising because AEK Athena, which is big and quite strong team, failed to win the match, from this draw, PAOK was able to top the standings.
PAOK itself in the match against Asteras Tripolis managed to win with score of 2 - 1 and they got full points in this match, PAOK could have experienced draw but Asteras Tripolis received 2 red cards which made their performance really bad.
Match between the top 2 team was really quite interesting and of course this match resulted in shift in position with still narrow margin, I sure AEK Athena really felt disappointed at failing to get full points in their match.
Competition will continue and we will see perhaps more interesting results later.
Do you mean Panserraikos vs Asteras Tripolis? Because PAOK was playing against Lamia.
Damn what an adventurous fucking matchday!

I can't help but wonder how Panathinaikos didn't win against OFI. I surely wasn't expecting that.
Thankfully we won our other bets which was betting on a PAOK win and on an over 1.75 bet on the Aris - AEK match.

We're waiting now for the play-off and the play-out matchups to be placed.

Meanwhile I'm considering starting to track the success of past picks in this thread. Working on an excel now Cheesy
It was indeed one; thankfully, I didn't go ahead and bet on Panathinaikos vs. OFI because it looked too risky; however, I wasn't expecting a draw. The other two matches went great, though, with PAOK winning against Lamia with a score of 2-0 and Olympiakos vs. Volos 3-0. AEK vs. Aris was an interesting one as well. As I had mentioned in my previous post, both teams had great performances over the past matches. Even though AEK is first in the Super League standings, I wasn't confident in making a bet.
248  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Don’t play gambling with drugs or in half sleep on: March 02, 2024, 05:12:34 PM
I think so too. The initial cause of drug addiction was when he had lost too much gambling and wanted to get rid of the pain he was suffering from. so that his mind becomes calm and does not think about his defeat anymore.
so the main cause may be gambling itself.
Someone who ends up broke or addicted is very likely to resort to alcoholism, drug use, or a combination of all three negative habits into one; it sounds like a great idea to destroy yourself. Gambling requires a clear state of mind; drugs, alcohol, and possibly an unpleasant mental state are the keys to destruction. This is the main reason you see addicts, because they often combine such behaviors or suffer from a stable mental state that prevents them from having self-control. Although this "rule" doesn't always apply to everyone, and there are always exceptions, it's actually very common.
249  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Losing at gambling on: March 02, 2024, 04:21:59 PM
Gambling doesn't define who I am; therefore, I wouldn't let it define my life. What you described isn't something that isn't happening out in the real world; it's a very unfortunate phenomenon. Gambling, even if you're winning money, is never fine. If you're in a relationship and you're an addict, money isn't the only thing that matters, but the time you spend advocating gambling is also trivial; it's time that could be spent elsewhere, creating memories and experiences. Letting go and losing control and, therefore, your money is probably the worst scenario and is perhaps a valid reason for divorce.
250  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Mom won 50,000$ in Lottery on: March 02, 2024, 03:43:27 PM
I'm personally not anticipating winning the lotto or any large prize; actually, I don't recall ever participating in any kind of lottery either. I believe that the chances are extremely minimal, and I don't find any meaning or entertainment in it. $50,000 is a decent amount of money, though, depending on the country of residence, it may be a life-altering event. Kudos to her; hopefully, she spends them wisely, preferably invests them, and doesn't end up gambling them all away.
251  Other / Meta / Re: Use of AI on Bitcoin talk on: March 02, 2024, 11:47:54 AM
I have seen a lot of high-ranked members constantly posting AI-generated posts and their posts are always identical and you can see that they aren't written by a human, what's worst is that they don't even edit them and you can sometimes find sentences and words that give it away that they are using an AI language model to generate those posts.
I wonder how difficult they find it to write posts themselves that they do this, I mean, if you have nothing to contribute, just don't make posts at all, but then again, they need to earn money from here. Signature campaign managers need to up their game identifying and catching AI users.
Well, do you have something to contribute? Because to me, it sounds like you're simply trying to overexaggerate a situation that isn't as bad as you make it look while also increasing your post count for your excessive quota of 60 posts. I imagine it must be hard to reach such a high quota. I personally cannot think of me writing 60 posts per week and being constructive at the same time.

There's a thread to report AI usage, just like lovesmayfamilis told you, and if you're so downright that a large number of high-ranked members are using AI, then you would have known. It's highly possible that this statement is derived from your pure imagination. I've been on the lookout for AI content for quite some time now; the majority is newbies and generally newer accounts who attempt to appear knowledgeable. I've personally found only one Sr. Member and reported him.

So, if you have any evidence to back your statements, why didn't you make a report? A quick look around the forum, and you would have found the corresponding thread.
252  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Binance Launchpool, a possible earning opportunity? on: March 02, 2024, 11:03:43 AM
The best time to sell a token is early if the token is launching on binance. That project was already hyped out and people started to sell off their holdings to take their investment out. Every project is not like TIA which has done something amazing even after it got listed on binance and started rallying up because of its ecosystem airdrop. Usually i don't participate in binance launchpool and i do like to trade them in their early stages but i always make sure that project has the holding value for long term.
Not necessarily; I've got plenty of examples of Launchpool tokens that skyrocketed days after their initial launch. Had I sold early, like you said, I would have made a lot less than I've currently made. A few examples are Cyber, which started at approximately $6-7 if I remember correctly and I sold at $16 a few days later; Pendle; Manta, which was sold early at $2.5 and climbed up to $3.5 in the upcoming few days; Neutron; Altlayer; MEME; and possibly many others that I cannot even recall. Sometimes this technique works best and is the safest for peace of mind; however, it's not always the most profitable.

Be careful; I'm not implying to hold such tokens for the long term; they're extremely volatile and unpredictable. Just because it worked for some coins doesn't mean it'll work for every single one of them.
253  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Binance Launchpool, a possible earning opportunity? on: March 02, 2024, 09:35:16 AM
There are still a lot of receivers that have sold at the mid of it and at the near top. Those are easy and free money and no matter how low they'd sell, they've just taken it for free so it's still a win. But our minds tell us that we've been a loser and missed selling at the top and that's considered as a loss already but it's not. Honestly, if I was able to sell a lot before and took profits in BNB, I'd just deposit it on the launchpool and let it run for as long as it can be. That's a lot of free money coming in there and surely a lot of people are doing this. But the more BNB you have, the greater benefits you have to receive more rewards from the launchpool.

If you're starting out and you don't have that much. Better go directly to that project's website and try to fill out what they're requiring their users for you to max out the rewards that they're going to distribute once they hit the deadline. Because usually, most of these projects are going to be dead so when you've received the reward and trading is still hot and exclusive for most of you, don't miss selling them because hype now is different and they're quickly gone.
I'm not sweating too much; it's basically free money. I still made more than I would have made by staking USDT, so that's still a win. I'm not going to complain about not selling at $2.50 instead of $3; not all projects are as fruitful as others, and it's not possible to yield the maximum from every single one of them. I'm still happy for what I earned.
It's interesting to hear about your experiences with Binance's Launchpool, especially given your stance on centralized exchanges. It sounds like you've had some success with the projects you've participated in, despite acknowledging that many of the listed coins may lack long-term viability.

While Launchpool can indeed offer attractive returns in the short term, it's crucial to weigh the risks involved, including the potential for market manipulation and the volatility of newly listed tokens. As you mentioned, the opportunity cost of staking funds should also be considered.
I'm not exactly sure what you mean by your phrase "given your stance on centralized exchanges."  Do you mind if I elaborate a little further? I support the services exchanges provide, but we need to distinguish that they're not meant to store cryptocurrency. I could have deposited my bitcoin as well, but I'm not going to do that for obvious reasons. Apart from that, thanks to Binance and its Launchpool, I've managed to substantially grow the money I initially deposited there. I'm also taking into account the opportunity cost of the staked funds; however, so far, the returns are higher than me staking on USDT or somewhere else.
254  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Greek 2023–24 Super League Predictions & Discussion on: March 02, 2024, 06:16:19 AM
Good to see we won the last picks. Well at least in the Asian total got 1.50 of the payout. I think we're on a roll

Another matchday coming soon:

Well many matches are condensed in a short period of time in the last few days. The Greek Super League will soon be entering in the play-off/play-out phase, but we're at a point where it's crucial to see who could finish first. It's a fierce competition at this point between AEK and PAOK, with PAOK only being first by a single point. It's certainly an interesting year in the Greek Super League.

But let's see what's worth betting on this day imo.

So I'll say that I can't be 100% certain if AEK will win against Aris but I'm very confident there will be many goals as both teams tend to score in their matches lately:

PAOK having 1.37 odds against Lamia sounds good to me.

And lastly, as much as I like OFI, I feel like Panathinaikos is going to take an easy win here. In spite of Panathinaikos having taken a fluke recently, not winning a match that was supposed to be easy, I think this one will be easy for them.
I was about to post this weekend's match, but you already have. There are a few interesting matches that are worth betting on, such as PAOK vs. Lamia, which you already mentioned; Olympiakos vs. Volos; and possibly AEK vs. Aris. Although AEK has the first position in the Super League, nothing is guaranteed, and Aris' performance is quite decent as well. The rest of them seem like a lost cause to me, and betting on them seems risky. Although I also support OFI, I'm going to stay neutral this time. I'd rather not lose money just because it's our local team. Panathinaikos is most likely to win, judging by their standing.
255  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling still pays regardless of our losses on: March 01, 2024, 11:51:54 PM
Congratulations on your win, although you need to be cautious as these seemingly small $1 bets can quickly add up without you realizing it. Fortunately, from my point of view, sports betting offers better opportunities than simple casino games that only rely on luck; supposedly, you need to have some basic knowledge. I personally have had better luck betting in my country's football Super League than in the usual casino games, without any major knowledge. I can't apply the same rule to other sports, though, due to being completely clueless.
256  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Binance Launchpool, a possible earning opportunity? on: March 01, 2024, 11:04:17 PM
Although it's been a few days since Portal's Launchpool has ended and was listed for trading, I'll post my update. Portal started trading at approximately $4, but quickly plummeted and dropped below $3. Unfortunately, I was at work and wasn't present the moment it was launched, so I missed the opportunity to sell at a high price. I sort of went for it and sold at $2.5; thinking it through, I could have sold at a better price, but I wasn't too confident holding it. It has now dropped down to $2.20.

Unfortunately, no new projects have been announced yet.
257  Other / Off-topic / Re: Does having children have an influence on gambling habits? on: March 01, 2024, 10:12:28 PM
It goes without saying that your habits change when you become a parent. You're burdened with a ton of responsibilities, and your available time is much more limited. With that being said, gambling hardly becomes a priority. Apart from that, your available income and monthly budgeting are severely affected; thus, it's perfectly reasonable to assume that any sane person would limit gambling for their financial wellbeing as well.

It's fine to gamble every now and then, even when you're a parent, as long as you're able to control your finances and your time. Don't neglect other responsibilities just for your own entertainment.
258  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How your feels? on: March 01, 2024, 09:32:52 PM
I don't regret gambling; it's not that I'm spending too much money in the first place, nor have I suffered any major losses. Apart from that, I've never used Bitcoin or any other altcoin of high value, such as Ethereum. I had only used a few dogecoins in the past, but I've resorted to using stablecoins, mostly USDT; it seems the safest and most sane option. I'd feel guilty using Bitcoin for gambling; it sounds like a waste of money, and its value is extremely high to be depreciated like that.
259  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which of these betting Statements Do you Agree or Disagree With? on: March 01, 2024, 08:25:18 PM
I want to believe that we all agree that our betting budget should be within 5% -10% of our monthly income as responsible gamblers. However, our perspective on sports betting differs. Look at the gambling sentences and indicate which of the statements you agree or disagree with. You could also write a brief explanation for your standpoint

1. Don't bet all your money on one bet.
2. Bet the same amount on every bet.
3. Don't bet more than once a day.
4. Don't bet every day.

I agree that budgeting is probably one of the most important factors to take into account, if not the most important one, when it comes to gambling. Generally, you should distribute how you spend your budget relatively evenly, although I don't support the idea of betting the same amount on every bet, do as you please and don't overthink too much. I agree with points number 3 and 4, one session is enough, while gambling every single day sounds like an addiction to me. Do it when you feel like it, there shouldn't be a specific rule, but don't make it a habit of having to do it every day. Take breaks from it, otherwise you'll be spending too much money and time.
260  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Funds are SAFU": Here we go again, but with Coinbase! on: March 01, 2024, 07:46:53 PM
It's because most of Bitcoin holders are know or interested with Bitcoin in 2017/2018 during Altcoins season and Bitcoin price able to reach $19K, it's a big milestone at that times. Mt.Gox was a biggest exchange during early days, but in 2014 they gets hacked and they're bankrupt. Most people not aware with this case, since they're know Bitcoin in 2017, it makes them always think Binance is the first, popular and biggest exchange, since they still exist until now, there's no problem to hold the coins on Binance.

So we're need to wait when Binance become Mt.Gox 2.0, I'm sure we will see a chaos.
I don't think Binance will become Mt.Gox 2.0, it's the largest exchange in trading volume, and supposedly the most trusted one as well. If that happens, the whole cryptocurrency world will be permanently dented, no one would trust them anymore and they'd eventually collapse, along with other exchanges due to the chaos Binance's fall will cause. On the positive side, I don't believe it's a possible scenario, I highly doubt Binance would fall, however, I don't support storing large amounts on exchanges, despite their status.
