...
Just hope your equipment does not ever break down while there, may never get fixed.

What you mean? Can you elaborate more?
In past one hashboard stopped hashing and they immediately informed me asking for permission the send it for repair. Of course granted and within weeks was back online.

I wont even bother elaborating considering the first time I posted my problem, OM deleted my comment and made an empty promise via email.
242  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTB] Pandaminer motherboard on: January 12, 2018, 12:34:29 PM
Does anyone happen to have a Pandaminer motherboard they're willing to sell?

One of our customers has a pandaminer that doesn't power up. The first LED on the indicator light bar (if you have one you know what I'm talking about) turns on solid green but when you press the power button it doesn't progress to a fullly lit LED bar. I suspect it's a bad motherboard as there is no display output.

I had a problem with mine doing this which was fixed by using a different power supply
243  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] 80THs Mining Farm - 7 Antminer S9s - $27500 FIRM on: January 11, 2018, 06:30:25 PM
There were S9's running at 11.8TH? What is the power use of those?
T9's I believe. Better efficiency actually.

NO not T9. T9 have never been more efficient than S9.

S9 & R4 are the most efficient miners available to the public until Halong ships

Bitmain made 14TH/s models first, followed by 12.93Th/s & 11.8Th/s with version one firmware
I beg to differ....

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yHJzo7A312c

That video shows the T9 being less efficient.  Roll Eyes

In addition, the S9 in that video is Version 2 firmware so the frequency and energy used fluctuates

If you wish to continue feel free to pm me and lets stop clogging up Aries sale
244  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: BLOKFORGE- Official Canaan Distributor on: January 11, 2018, 06:17:41 PM
Not sure why everyone is surprised by the pricing

Avalon hardware has always been more expensive than Bitmian

You are paying for better quality and you are buying from a reseller who needs to make a small cut as well

247  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: DragonMint 16TH/S halongmining.com on: January 11, 2018, 03:44:54 AM
The Dragonmint miner may be real but what I've seen on YouTube and read on Bitcoin it may also be dead after some of the other companies like GMO come out with a 10nm. chip later this year. Here's one of the articles I'm going by.

More details on the Japanese Internet Giant GMO’s plans to enter the Bitcoin mining market have been released. The company has revealed the hardware and performance specifications for its upcoming 7nm process ASIC mining chips which feature very low power consumption requirements. GMO also divulged its plans to produce and sell PC-ready ASIC mining cards to consumers.
And take a look at this (https://news.bitcoin.com/gmo-to-inves)

Don't need to ask from Bitmain anything, because just by googling "S9" or "Antminer S9" i can find all reliable data, and use my brain and determine does it exist or not. Again when first batch date comes, we will see are we going to see BFL story all over again(havent been here during that time, but just by reading that you could come to your senses)

Okay, new user to bitcointalk, into bitcoin since 2010 (see other contact info for signed message from my original wallet)

I bought 10, two orders 321 and 369

I will admit it was a bit of an impulse buy driven by some peer pressure from my local group of crypto nerds.

I did CPU mining back in 2010, got my coins and then did other stuff.
Got back into BTC in the last 2 years with the mindset that mining wasn't worth it.

Started running numbers in august of last year, decided to do a small POC mine since this stuff scales pretty well.
Ordered 3 S9s beginning of nov, ordered 10 T16s before thanksgiving, 2 more S9s just after TG.

I have 3 S9s up right now, 2 more sitting in my basement ready for when my electric panel gets upgraded in two weeks.

None of these were supposed to show up until the end of the month, hence my lack of preparedness for them at this time.

I really hope this isn't a scam.  Its not like I can't afford to lose the invested BTC (I mean it would suck but its not going to change my life really either way)

My father lives in West Allis about 20 minutes from Brookfield.  After telling him about my endeavors, he wanted to buy in (Hence the two additional S9s ordered after thanksgiving).  I may reach out to him to see if he wants to take a trip to see scotty.

I know my reputation is non-existent on the forum and I was debating even chiming in but felt like getting involved since I have skin in this game now.

would be ideal for a known forum member to go check these out

I was lucky enough to get the flu this week and have to cancel my trip to Wisconsin  Cry
250  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [150+ PH] SlushPool (slushpool.com); World's First Mining Pool on: January 09, 2018, 02:20:51 AM
Slush is mining empty blocks!!?!?
  I’m out of here.

https://btc.com/0000000000000000007979d7f1c6be97d32b19a0a5a957813d3c8232f9dd22dc
slush has been mining empty blocks for a VERY LONG time.
See here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1085800.msg11611896#msg11611896

Edit: every block change work you get from slush is an empty block, followed by normal block work a bit later.
Thus they find empty blocks every so often.

Kano, you should implement payout thresholds on your pool and some of us would come back

252  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Speculation: Miners will crash bitcoin value on: January 09, 2018, 02:16:01 AM
Huge transfer fees, slow and stuck transfers will no doubt have their effect on bitcoin. How will people use bitcoin when transfer fees are more than the transferred amount? How will masses react when there will be news that bitcoin delays are days and you can't get anything through unless you pay 60$? What will people do when there are more and more unconfirmed transactions? Think someone who is first time using bitcoin and their transaction gets stuck. Do they want to use that currency again? I don't think many investor will keep bitcoin as a reliable investment when only thing you can do with it is to trade. I think that many (myself included) will want to shift their focus to alternative, more reliable options. Decentralized currency? I think not.  Bitcoin has lost it's roots. All the power is in the huge mining pools, which will move your BTC if you're willing to pay a big chunk of money. I used to love bitcoin because it was the opposite of Paypal and bank conglomerates. Now I think that it is more and more like them: centralised power within the few and only serving the rich.

Maybe pools should try to push more of those "not so profitable transactions" in order to keep transaction fees more reasonable. That would help keeping BTC more reasonable choice - for everyone. I think that could end up making more profit for the miners - in the long run. I understand why miners increase transfer fees. We all are here to make some cash. But is it really for the miners benefit if bitcoin will sink simply because it is unusable?

Lastly I would like to tell a bit about my own experiences with my recent event with bitcoin. I tried to transfer a small amount of coins to coinbase first time in 3,5 years. It got stuck and it has been stuck for 4 days now. I've tried to use all of those free acceleration services with no avail. My economical situation ain't very good at the moment and I definitely don't want to pay 20% transfer fee. Bitcoin didn't use to be this way.

Even if I am criticising bitcoin quite a lot, I wish the best for all of you miners. My idea is not to start flame war or anything like that. I simply want to express my own thoughts about bitcoin and how it currently stands. I hope we can have a good quality conversation about this topic

Cheers Smiley

Highly flawed perspective

miners do not set tx fees, the market does. Think of it as tips or bids. The higher the tip or bid you make, the more likely you will receive service or the crappy tippers.

Miners simply secure the chain. The argument can be made that greedy miners  moving large amounts of hash rate from one chain to another are slowing down the network. This is why anyone holding value on the blockchain should not only maintain a copy of the ledger via a node but also contribute work.

Furthermore, if one wishes to use bitcoin, they must educate themselves on how it actually works. Current block sizes are averaging just below 1.1 mb. This means that many users are not taking advantage of segwit transactions. This is the users fault, not the protocol or the miners.

A lot of new people have rushed onto the bitcoin scene that do not understand the simplest concepts and then complain because bitcoin is "broken". The mentality of new users is broken due to ignorance and the political fud being spread. Bitcoin works as designed but many people want bitcoin to work a different way than designed. I would suggest to those sort of people rather than complain to develop and/or fund layer 2 protocols to meet their specific needs.
253  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain Announces the Antminer R4 and APW5 Power Supply, Designed for Silence on: January 07, 2018, 04:46:49 AM
Nope.

I have previously repaired my Antminers in the only official place that deals with out-of-warranty repairs.
It is BitmainWarranty / Myrig.com , located in Denver, Colorado, USA.

Note: this is not Bitmain company, but a separate company.

I would ask them about the paid repair service for the R4.

https://bitmainwarranty.com/
https://bitmainwarranty.com/contact/
https://myrig.com/

So they/he are/is the same people/man?

Yes, they are the same one company.

Myrig.com is just a new brand they have.
I sent my broken S9 board recently to them. Rather voiding bitmain's "warranty" than having to sent my entire unit. They received my board on Dec 27th. For now nothing has happened Sad They are responsive when I ask them, but the responses have been
First this:
Quote
Average repair time is 3-4 business days, and in some cases with complicated repair, it may take 2-3 weeks.  One of our techs will reach out to you with the update in the near future and also the pricing of the repair.
And then this:
Quote
Your order is in the repair process now. Because of Holidays we will be experiencing some delays. We will get back ton you with an update as soon as we have one from the tech on your order.
Let's see what happens, I'm not too happy so far, I wanted my board repaired quickly obviously.

Bitmain Warranty aka Myrig.com will get your board repaired and at a fair price but not quickly. I imagine they are slammed with customer demand as my most recent repairs took a lot longer than usual.
254  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTB] Obsolete miners - USB sticks (Antminer U1's and U2's) on: January 06, 2018, 10:12:56 PM
I have a bunch of these that I might be willing to sell, mostly U2 but also a few block erupters and U1

I've been in touch with Scott and have made plans to visit him early this upcoming week - he's actually way closer to me than I originally thought.

I look forward to meeting Scott and checking out what he and Halong are all about!

As a disclaimer, I don't have any skin in this with Halong - I don't have any preorders with them nor have I been promised/offered anything at all. I've not known of Scott prior to this thread. I'm visiting Scott because of how close he is to me and my interest in the mining field. I've been mostly exclusive with Bitmain in my mining needs in the last few years.

Why has your account been inactive since 2015?
256  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: DragonMint 16TH/S halongmining.com on: January 06, 2018, 12:52:07 AM
I've seen some unicorns and I've met a big foot.. There's more than one. I also hold ten million dollars worth of assorted coins. Guess which one is true.

probably not a good idea to be advertising that online
257  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: DragonMint 16TH/S halongmining.com on: January 05, 2018, 09:56:50 PM
Okay lets see @elokk, hopefully you will be gentle with it like first time with woman, and inspect every aspect of that, since we won't see anything visually dont forget to bring pen and paper(or use phone Cheesy ) to write any info that you see/check, or just confirm Watmeter picture. Wish you all the luck

Honestly, I am going to satisfy my own curiosity

Figured I would share with the forum and hopefully can report back it does exist for the naysayers. Of course this will not guarantee anything other than some test units may exist and I won't be allowed to share any juicy details. We will have to wait for some hands on demos within the community to get all the interesting stuff.
258  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: DragonMint 16TH/S halongmining.com on: January 05, 2018, 09:17:04 PM
I live in the midwest United States and asked Scott to meet me which he has agreed to.

I will visit Wisconsin late next week to see things with my own eyes. No pictures or videos will be taken so everyone will just have to go by my word of what I see.

stay tuned
259  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: BLOKFORGE- Official Canaan Distributor on: January 05, 2018, 04:18:02 PM
How much did they cost a pc?

No one knows... if I would have to guess I would say around 22-2300.00usd/each

bulk reseller price is $2885 each ($173,100 pallet with 60 pieces)
https://canaan.io/product/bulk-pack-reseller-821/

Im guessing resellers price will easily be above $3,000
