What is xel?

xel is an open-source project that aims to build the first decentralized supercomputer. xel has been developed over the last year or so and provides the infrastructure for a decentralized and distributed super computer, designed to carry out arbitrary tasks over the internet. In  this  context,  xel is  powered by a crypto currency (XEL) and provides a market-based mechanism to buy  and  sell computational  resources. Those  who need  computational  resources,  model  their  problem using xel’s programming language (xel PL) and broadcast it on the network, along with a certain amount of XEL coins. The xel miners are then motivated to offer their computational resources in exchange for a portion of those XEL coins. The size of their reward depends on the amount of work a miner has contributed in relation to the rest of the miners that have also participated in the task. Using XEL as the driving force, xel offers potential buyers a large parallel computation cluster composed of many CPUs and GPUs supplied by the miners.

"Proof of Node"

Der neue innovative Konsens-Modus. Wie konnte Satoshi darauf nicht gleich kommen? All der ganze PoW-Aufwand dabei muss man einfach per Nodes einen Konsens erzeugen.  Grin

Hätte ihm aber auch gleich mal einer sagen können damals....

As you know YDX is closed, so those prices are outdated. Going rate at the moment seems to be 150 per Ti. And the escrows report nice volume also.

Erstes exchange das IOTA listed ist bitfenex.. WOW Cool

What's the Bitfinex-situation at the moment? USD-Withdraws possible? Only BTC?
252  Local / Altcoins (Deutsch) / Re: IOTA - Erste blockchainlose Kryptowährung designed für das Internet der Dinge on: June 04, 2017, 12:06:08 PM

We have no SN at launch.
I didn't know that. Could you explain this a bit more ? Thanks !

Litewallet has basic sending/receiving functionality, but that's it.
255  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XEL] Elastic Project - The Decentralized Supercomputer on: May 31, 2017, 11:08:49 AM
how does the supply work? it will be enabled forever to claim your coins so effectively the market will react as total supply is 100M and set the market cap when in reality it will be maybe 70M or less. but that matters only if all coins are being used and create a deficit

that's how it works with every coin. who knows how many BTCs are already gone? nevertheless we calculate marketcap on full supply.

cruising past 0.1 now. does it have the legs to go all the way to the top? that would be quite something and maybe not surprising.

define "top"

to top the marketcap of BTC seems highly likely at the moment
258  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XEL] Elastic Project - The Decentralized Supercomputer on: May 30, 2017, 10:20:26 AM

agree, participation was good. lots of folks have too small amounts to actually care, haven't heard of the vote or just let others decide.

participation of 30% is nice!

I really wonder how many lost their private keys by now or forgot that they threw some BTC at this project. With that long of a time between donation phase and mainnet launch, it is very possible that maybe even 50% of XEL remain unclaimed.

Yes, some may have forgotten about the project but as soon as we are trading on a bigger exchange folks will remember and claim their XEL. I think some may have lost their keys or have sent from an exchange (that maybe even the bigger part) but overall i wouldn't expect more than 10% lost keys so far.

Just woke up, what a mess  Shocked As expected... This is the reason why Bitcoin never will succeed. People can´t trust this. Now the media shitstorm will start all over again.

bs

You remember that Gox scenario? It took almost 4 years to recover... I feel the same this time.

Except that we have no Gox-like event this time. At least not yet.
