It's probably also the same when you're trading cryptocurrencies. The thrill of taking a risk in a shitcoin will perhaps release more dopamines in your brain than buying Bitcoin, then sitting on your hands for the HODL. Hahaha.
It might also be why 90% of people trying to "trade" lose their capital because they can't stop themselves from looking for their next dopamine rush.
That's correct. But need for dopamine so hard coded into us that quitting smoking was easier then now chasing a new rush.
I think i've found a way to control mine now. It sounds silly but it's just sticking into basics and routine. When basics are in check i can treat myself with gambling.

And by basics i mean i manage my budget, exercise, work, eat healthy, sleep more and do work for my relationships. When those are in check i am less addicted to that rush.
2402  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: NFT/METAVERSE price movement, prediction and discussion on: February 05, 2023, 07:23:57 PM
Most NFTs being promoted are interesting acquisitions for the fan-base of the respective NFT product in advertisement, but for the rest of investors it's pretty useless. They don't offer benefits for holders in general, like Trump's NFTs for example. One of the rewards was a presential dinner with Trump, but that is very restrict to only his most hardcore fans, and citizens from US or foreigner millionaires and billionaires. So, why would anyone else purchase his NFTs, besides for a temporay boom in price? The same could be said about NFT collections from other celebrities.
I don't understand why would anyone buy trading cards from that man. But i do understand why people buy NFTs generally (obviously i don't get most of them, people seem to buy weak copies of originals too. I don't judge but i see that as a failing bet. Most NFTs don't offer holders any benefits but neither does dogecoin. However holding BAYCs has been very beneficial for the holders.

Here is one example of kind of string operation done

https://twitter.com/coffeebreak_YT/status/1621581040539033603?t=Vy7hWZYrxK4mob8EeFMeHw&s=19

It amplifies the need for investors to do their complete research before investing in newly launched projects. Even the person you had been admiring or following on social media platforms can be just promoting a scam. So apply some common sense next time instead of blindly following the expert financial advice of these gurus. Another platform, where this abuse frequently happens is YouTube where creators promote number of fake projects.
I don't understand. Is it not a widely known fact that Tik-tok, instagram, youtube and Twitter influencers are getting paid for tweeting?
I am not sure if i am more surprised about the fact that his promotions are so cheap or that anyone listens financial advices from someone whose job is to be choked, kicked and hit in the head.
"Must be a financial genius. Take my money!"
2404  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Will miners ever rally behind ETHW? on: February 05, 2023, 04:42:51 PM
I see more changes with them going for Ethereum classic if it is paying to mine it. However i hear that doesn't have any developers either. And i can't see any whales backing up ETHW like they did with ETH classic. Nor any sane developer would stick with dead ETHW and lose the possibility of huge community.
2405  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: 2000 sandbox would do? on: February 05, 2023, 02:36:13 PM
I am planning on buying 2000 SANDBOX tokens this month, what is your price prediction for this project? Do you believe that metaverse hype is still very well alive?
If you believe that these metaverses around are really around in the future then yeah. From all this sort of gamified metaverses around i root for sandbox. It's well done and imho way more appealing then decentraland. It's really hard to predict if these platforms stick as i think they are pretty much duct tape solutions for fast as possible metaverse adoption. I think that there will be better tech ahead and these get left far behind like some bulky and weird tv and radio combinations in the past.

Just be aware that a whale might Be dumping it soon

2406  Economy / Economics / Re: It is better to be the hammer than the nail on: February 05, 2023, 01:50:22 PM
It is better to be the hammer than the nail. The idiom can be interpreted in several versions but it's mainly about taking control over life/things is way better and important than just being a follower. This can not only be used in general discussions but only apply to finances/economics. Recently I learned a lesson from my foolish behaviour and I think it'll set a good example. Please let me explain.

Weeks ago, I met with one of my old friends and we had a nice time having dinner and talking about life. The diner was in a shopping plaza so we went to shop after dinner. Everthing was good and we spent bunch of money buying some useless things. On the way back home, I soon realized that I did not need those things at all. I was not feeling sorry for the money, it was just over 100 dallors and that's the money I can surely afford to lose. However, I felt bad for the irrational rush to buy things that I don't really need. It's like the money is manipulating me to spend it to prove that I have money. But hell no, I am not a show-off person and I am living just fine with my life. I am the master of my money and my life and I refuse to be labeled by what I have owned, although I own a lot of things.

Maybe get rid of the stuff you don't need, it could help make you feel from free as that stuff wouldn't define you. You could get probably money out of it if you are not a giving type.
But that said, sometimes we need irrational behavior to relax. And often that requires money to let out some steam or relax. So don't feel bad about the money you spend. It was only $100 and sometimes we need to treat ourselves, no matter how silly that would be.

Although i have no idea what the hammer and nail are representing in your story. If you are talking about self control then not all proverbs are meant to be transferable as right solutions in life.
2407  Economy / Economics / Re: How to thrive with low income in a humble area - part 2 on: February 04, 2023, 10:48:59 PM
So basically your tip to people is to get money by working? Sure, but don't you think this is little patronizing? That people wouldn't have thought about basic jobs you describe?
That they would just do existing jobs as a freelancer and hope that there wouldn't be competition in those work areas, and that people would just buy anything or hire you for handyman stuff and not hire a professional who knows what he is doing?

I mean yeah, basically you can find new areas you are good at and try to monetize those but that doesn't mean they would be magically profitable. In fact they could be opposite depending what kind of risk you are taking and how much your time you will be spending.

What do you think about this? In the name of "child protection" they want to gain as much control as possible. This is terrible!
I think that it's just a proposal and there are several institutions in EU that can make them. Making them doesn't mean that they would go trough. There are many different voices in EU and obviously not everyone is supporting this. I believe that there's no such thing as anonymity in the future when it comes to money, but when it comes to other privacy issues, they are considered as human right in EU. So i don't believe that this level of surveillance dystopia would go trough.

Obviously people need to be aware so that they can speak about their concerns with their countries representatives.
2409  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bithumb CEO arrested on: February 04, 2023, 10:05:23 PM
I would like to see other crypto scammers arrested instead of moving freely around the world, like CEO Terra, or former FTX CEO. There is a lot of scams in the crypto-sphere, especially in centralized exchanges where insider trading and price manipulation are rampant. Tougher regulation would rid the community of characters like SBF or CEO of Bithumb.
Technically SBF isn't free but in house arrest, which is way better then him dying in the jail like everyone seems to think would happen. Court procedure however takes time and should take time as you can't rush these things. Rushing could be an advantage for SBF.

But why an earth interpol haven't catched Do Kwon is a mystery. If i remember correctly people have even posted selfies with him in europe while he was hunted down. He has his passports frozen so i am guessing he moves with fake ids now.
2410  Economy / Gambling / Re: What sort of Weekly & Monthly Bonuses do Bitcointalk members want? on: February 04, 2023, 09:28:09 PM
Currently we offer level-up bonuses for our VIP and rakeback. However, due to popular demand, we are looking to implement weekly and monthly bonuses as well. Do you guys happen to have any recommendations for a formula we should use in determining what an appropriate weekly/monthly bonus should be?

We would love to hear feedback from all bitcointalk members!

Hope you guys have an awesome and safe New Years! Smiley

-Punt Management
Free stuff is always nice, so something similar to wheel of fortune in freebitcoin but with a twist. Maybe just reward people that have leveled enough in your site by adding them to weekly lottery automatically. Higher the level you are, more raffle tickets you would have weekly. You would automatically participate into it, no need for login or klicking. That would be one way to incite players to level up.
2411  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SBF said: WHAT HAPPENED? on: February 04, 2023, 04:02:18 PM
What are the latest updates to SBF? as far as I know he is under house arrest now, and also bailed in the amount of 250K$ or 250M$, Please correct me.

I just believe that SBF will be held accountable for the scandals he did in FTX. What he did was not a trivial amount that affected the market in truth. Where a lot of ftx users has been robbed by this person actually.
It's $250 Million and his parents helped him with it. If he so much tries to flee and hide, his parents would have a headache for it as their house was the one that is used to secure that $250 million bond.
SBF also continues to state that he no longer has millions and only has close to $100k in his bank account. Yeah right.  Roll Eyes
Well technically the one paying would need to prove the origin of that money because FATF travel rule. Sam can't just put millions to his parents account now and make officials to believe that money magically appeared to exist. If that money was washed and originated from Sam, don't you think that any officials wouldn't be interested looking into that? Maybe it gets revealed later on.

Just a while ago $70m of Sam's money were found in a small bank, so i am interested to know where else has he stashed them.
2412  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: For Speculators, Pancake Swap (CAKE) Has Become a Healthy Delicacy on: February 04, 2023, 03:44:51 PM
I can't help of thinking that fundamentals of CAKE are tainted for it to grow big. With 300 scams per day pancakeswap has managed to create sort of reputation of a factory producing worthless idos. It's a place for cheap scammers. And eth transactions are going to be cheap soon. Then i don't really understand what's the point of CAKE/Pancakeswap anymore. Sure they can create attracting tokenomics on top of it but that's really a duct tape solution for irrelevant tech.

Even though ETH is getting cheaper, Pancake swap specializes on BNB BEP20 swaps. So I do not think that ETH would have an effect on CAKE since they already had established their market platform. Uniswap is  a platform that do ERC 20 swaps so I believe you have mistaken it for BEP20 Defi.

Scammers is everywhere, even those project that uses other platform as their IDO also scam people of the their funds.  Take not, Pancake Swap in not the one creating these scam token, and anyone is free to list their newly created token to the platform since there is no need for human verification in order to be listed in a Defi platform.

I agree but i didn't explain myself as well as i should have. I meant that i see whole BNB ecosystem irrelevant in the future. Right now people are only using it because it's cheap. That's the main selling point and why it's popular. But BNB is like a lego version of a real thing and with 21 validators it's centralized as a chain can be. Sure, cheap scammers just move to ETH when ever it's going to be cheaper to use but i seriously don't see any other point BNB to exist then having Binance to burn it and binance requiring listed new altcoins to lock bnb, which makes the bnb valuable.
2413  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🎲BetFury.io|🎁Welcome Pack on BetFury| 💸300 Free Spins + 150% Deposit Bonus on: February 04, 2023, 03:34:10 PM
I get that; as I said before, I wouldn't just by the tokens to stake them. But I always like sites like this that give out dividends as at a certain moment, I will just play with my daily dividend. In that way, you don't need to put in more money and you will also generate more and more tokens and thus more dividend.
This made a sense at the time. Then i just had to keep playing to get more tokens to get as much dividends as i did last time. At some point i gave up as i felt it was more work then if i just bought the tokens. It was fun to win big sometimes but that was so rare i think i would have made more money just by selling the tokens in the first place.

But i totally understand why would people do that. It's fun if you are going to gamble anyway. It even keeps your budget in check. It just wasn't working for me as i was so unlucky with slots.
2414  Economy / Gambling / Re: Stake.com - The Leading Crypto Casino - 🦉 Drake, UFC, Everton Main Partner ⚽ 🥊 on: February 04, 2023, 03:27:45 PM
No matter you play at stake or any other gambling site, you need to have control over your emotions. You cannot win always and when you lose, you need to have your emotions under control.

It is not easy to win in gambling and it becomes even more difficult when you do not have any money management and you do not have control over yourself. As with every thing in life you need to be discipline in gambling too otherwise you will face losses.
Maybe we have a different concept for word control, but i don't see controlling emotions an effective solution to prevent unreasonable or irresponsible behavior. When you try to control or suppress negative emotions you tend not to deal with them and they will surface in some form or another at some bad day. But i totally understand people who for example take medication not to feel anything and think they can rationalize their behavior better, that could work for some time but it has a toll.

Recognizing emotions is way better way and any from a viewpoint of a psychologist.
If you recognize your emotions and can name them, split them in sections and analyze them, you are not so incapable of facing them that you would even need to control or suppress them. When you realize better what feelings you are going trough they can't control you or your gambling, they just are there.

Well that's a lifehack of mine anyway.
2415  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bithumb CEO arrested on: February 04, 2023, 03:11:02 PM
that's a garbage exchange site. This exchange site is full of manipulation by the team behind the exchange site. So much fake volume in any pair. I have ever traded there several times. The impact from bithumb to the crypto was not as big as FTX and so, I don't expect a huge dump gonna come later. The fact that the volume that owned by this exchange site was actually fake. Im not seeing the problem that happened with this site won't becoming a threat for crypto like FTX. This exchange site was garbage exchange site like coinsbit.

Im glad to see that CEO of this exchange site got arrested. I remember once people were unable to withdraw their money.
Yeah, i didn't like the site and markets don't seem to care so i guess we are fine. If we are going to use FTX as an example, i heard they had they had some reserves in FTT token, which would be insanely irresponsible.

I was little afraid that if there would be bank run and again they would need to dump altcoins to get their reserves back and some companies invested in it would fall with it. But maybe this would be in a different scale anyway.
2416  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: what do you think about fantom coin ( FTM). on: February 03, 2023, 10:54:06 PM
Probably pumping because the people behind Fantom coin just announced that they're gonna release version 2 of their stablecoin fUSD which will allow users to choose between $FTM (their native coin) or $fUSD to be used to pay for transaction fees within the network. Kinda unique if you ask me.
-cut-

Here you go, this is the answer. And in my opinion it will crash down after the release becuse of two things. 1. There's sell The news event. 2: people will soon realize that while this is unique, it isn't that impressive or important. People can hype anything but when it comes to using a feature, it's just nyt as attractive for the price
2417  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is your earliest Gambling Story? on: February 03, 2023, 10:37:52 PM
Aside the fact i gambled with my father as i was kid, i would like to count only things where i was actually gambling with my own money.

I think i started with physical slots as they were everywhere. But those weren't paying a lot. First real gambling experience was when i went to casino. I didn't know what i was doing but i won money in table games i played first time.

I got back money i spend on shops that day and needless to say it was such a positive experience that i went again next week. Won some more money and i was hooked

I don't understand what that has to do with being evil. Even CZ himself has said that ee should live towards Dexes. I perfectly understand need for both. Maybe at some point there would be a dex with soulbound identity or something like that. But for now i see that free dexes in their current form could even die away at some point. This i don't see happening to regulated cexes

2420  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is the black swan event not to be expected anymore? on: February 03, 2023, 06:58:08 PM
Why is no one talking about the black swan event? Or are you saying we aren't going to see that again? Is there a chance that things won't always be the same with crypto? Is the FTX crash the only pain part we will see in this bear market? If the pandemic of 2020 never happened we won't have seen a buying opportunity of 3500$ for 1 Bitcoin. What do you guys have to say about this? Are we going to keep side ways until 2024 BTC halving now?
Ok captain hindsight, what black swan event you need us to be talking about? Because all we have is black swan events in the past. It's by definition something unpredictable so we can agree that they will happen in the future or not. Most likely they will happen as they have in the past.

I really am hoping for sideways movement for a while. Moving too high now would be unsustainable and crash would kill portfolios as it would be many times worse with alts.

(Also i don't know where you got number $3500 for bitcoin dip, that doesn't seem to make any sense.)
