2421  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: March 27, 2016, 01:29:04 PM

sure! you can say that about many.
- What happend to monero in the last 7 days?

on 24th March as soon as  this https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/azure-blockchain-update-7/ was published, price of Monero gained 15%.

I do suggest you next time to read this thread, before making any moves.

Generally that is not some brilliant news ( apparently Monero team did almost no effort to achieve that), but price act strange on news. Most strange was reaction on news that Monero will be listed on Mintpal in June 2014. Price rose 5 times to 0.01+ Why i say was strange is because on that exchange was never any significant volume and latter owners robbed their clients and run with the coins. Opposite of that was New year of 2016 when was released Monero 0.9.0, code name "Hydrogen Helix". That was what everyone was waiting for more then a year. and if you check exchanges, this news did nothing. Monero started rising a month after it.

I think unexpected news drives the movement more dramatically, like a herd of gazelle taking flight after hearing a monkey snap a twig--unexpectedly, whereas they will drink from the same pool of water as a thirsty lion--though they are watching him very, very carefully.
2422  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Azure will add ANY coin. on: March 26, 2016, 12:43:14 PM
a list
Does anyone have a list of the Azure 'added' coins?

If you wait a month, it will be ALL of them.  Wink
2423  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Azure will add ANY coin. on: March 26, 2016, 06:44:32 AM
All you have to do is apply and azure will add a coin. I could literally build a coin today and add it. How some coins are pimping this as a partnership is beyond me. This is like me applying for a mastercard and saying mastercard is partnering with me--when in reality all I needed was a decent credit score and a pulse. All you need for azure intergration is a coin and to jump through a few hoops. Anyone who is impressed by this either doesn't understand the process or is easily impressed.

Here's FluffyPony describing the process on reddit:

"[–]fluffyponyzaXMR Core Team 11 points 1 day ago

None of the above.

We contacted them, they told us what we needed to do. It basically consisted of signing a Contributor License Agreement, submitting a PR to the Azure templates Github repo, and sending them a write-up. Took us like 3 or 4 hours:)

All the altcoins saying that Microsoft is "partnering" with them are being disingenuous - you are a partner inasmuch as you have a BizSpark account and signed a CLA.

The upshot of this, however, is that developers that are already using Azure can build applications on top of the Monero blockchain, and are able to spin nodes up quickly and easily."

The King is dead, the King is dead,
O, the King is dead....
What world did he leave behind
he must have asked in that hour
that comes for every man, in time
we will know the answer, but we mourn
the King is dead, the King is dead,
O, the King is dead.
2425  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Ethereum Paradox on: March 25, 2016, 04:55:09 PM
Yes,but he wouldnt have much to gain by going into a debate with him.The only winner of that kind of debate would be the small guy,the one that's unknown, aka the one that wants to release his own crypto.
Short,he would have much to lose if "lose" the debate and nothing to gain if he would win the debate. And what he and his  team is doing is promising and has alot of potential. And in his position are very few people, but in the small guy's position there could be thousands,it would be a neverending battle, everyone would want to debate him to boost his own project, now wouldnt they ?And its not like hes hiding, he's often doing interviews and answering questions.
Now imagine if the roles were reversed.VB would be the new kid on the block and tpbd would be a big project's leader.Same would happen, its only logical,he wouldnt debate about something thats not set yet and on something that you're still trying to solve, and as the development goes further more problems will arise, its only normal. Not to mention VB isnt the only brain in ethereum's team, the team is huge compared to these one man army projects.

This is speculative rationalization.

The problem is that TPTB_need_war and the others who contributed to this thread bring up legitimate concerns that do not show any theoretical solution. Maybe VB does have some solution, but absence of him giving such a solution isn't grounds to assume that  such a solution exist based on the size of the group, or how smart they are, or any other speculative rationalization--there is just as good a chance that the absence of a solution is because one doesn't exist or Eth's team won't be the ones who find it or an adequate alternative. Genius doesn't guarantee success, money doesn't guarantee success, and lots of man hours doesn't guarantee success, and while those things taken together are a definite plus, they cannot be used as evidence of solving a problem, theoretical or otherwise (at least one that doesn't involve specifically money, manpower or genius).
2426  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [Speculation] Microsoft Azure adding Influxcoin (150k marketcap) = worth to buy! on: March 25, 2016, 04:44:41 AM
Soon it will be something of note and exception not to be added to azure. I think they are adding every coin that submits application.

It takes 3-4 hours for the process and then BAM! MICROSOFT IS PARTNERING WITH (insert coin here)!

You could create a coin tomorrow and add it the same day, so.... Roll Eyes
2427  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic Totalitarianism on: March 24, 2016, 07:11:27 AM
Based on the extremely limited contacts I have w/ cryptographers (and limited reading), it is my opinion that a large group of concerned folks like us can make it VERY HARD for LE to get some information, even on cellphones.  (Not including phone call info of course)

That is incorrect. The OS and hardware can be designed to leak everything. Although perhaps the encryption could be done on a USB dongle mini-computer (plugged into the user's computing device) that is running custom open source OS and hardware.

What is very hard is to hide that the OS and hardware has that capability. Easier to hide if closed-sourced. But knowing it has that capability won't help us prevent it from leaking the data. Well I guess it could if we refuse to connect our device to any network. But who the hell is going to use a mobile device that is never connected to any network.

The only technical solution is to open source all the OS and the hardware. But we can't open source the hardware because the foundries can be subjected to a national security gag order.

The only non-technical solution is political. And the politics won't be improving until the boomers are gone. If Apple loses the case and the government mandates a backdoor on encryption, then computing is fucked. Because any backdoor can be hacked. The tech giants are all fighting the government on this. It would lead to a computing Dark Age. If they explain it properly hopefully the political support exists to stop the government.

But that might not even stop the NSA from handing out national security gag orders and finding some way to put a backdoor in the hardware.

Or start a hardware company that bugs every office and video tapes everything going into their facilities and leaving (up until the point it reaches your door). Their motto could be, "You're watching us, so nobody can watch you."

Or just find a way to manufacture hardware using 3d printers (though I don't believe the technology has evolved to that sophistication yet).
2428  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: March 24, 2016, 02:42:59 AM
Making a good luck post here on page 777.  Here's hoping we hit a jackpot on Monero price as more GPU miners turn their attentions towards the network (making us stronger) and more Bitcoin maximalists realize we are an opportunity not seen since the original Blockchain back in 2009, giving us social legitimacy.

The future is bright here in Moonero land.

The boat should be closer to the moon, then you have a space yacht. And everyone should have the goal of a space yacht--what's the point of the moon if you can't cruise around in a space yacht?
2429  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Ethereum Paradox on: March 23, 2016, 05:06:19 AM
So you want him to debate something they havent released yet and are currently working on ?There can be more reasons for that : 1.You may be right and its impossible for them to fix things (only you can,as you claimed, obviously smarter).
2.They havent decided on every aspect and its a work in progress.
3.Why would the leader of most advanced crypto go into a debate with you over something they still work on ?Give you and everyone else solutions to fix problems long before they can release?
Note that i dont understand blockchain technology in detail (not programmer) and im just making trying to make LOGICAL arguments.

This is common practice in academia, arguments about theoretical problems and theoretical solutions. If vitalik has a solution that he feels works and doesn't want to discuss the implementation, he can just say as much, but to completely avoid the argument is a little sketchy. Time will prove one of these guys right and everyone is free to bet on it or not.
2430  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: March 21, 2016, 03:59:24 PM
I wasn't saying that law enforcement/spying agencies provide child porn.  I was saying that there might be an outcry over monero similar to the hissy fit Chuck Schumer had over bitcoin.  A spark can turn into a wildfire of public outrage, fanned by the powers that be, and for example the NSA might apply its computing power to attacking monero.  I think that scenario is unlikely, but it's possible.
You're willing to consider all kinds of far-fetched scenarios that another person might call conspiracy theories, Risto.  Don't you think the the scenario I've outlined lies within the realm of possibility?
Looking into the future, events almost never play out the way they think we will.  Sometimes things turn out better, sometimes worse, but often they play out in unexpected ways.

That is what I am slightly worried about.

Once ASIC is needed to mine Bitcoin, Monero can be mined by GPU. So it is easy for NSA to attack Monero. Have I understood right?

This is why bot mining is a necessary evil in the war for decentralization.

Lol @ countdowns. How to give your coin more of a pump and dump reputation.

Your post can be read as you are projecting as something you would do to pump a coin.

I merely posted that due to the fact that there is a hard fork in a few days and people should upgrade (pools, miners, etc).

But of course you can troll =) if you wish.  Cheesy

Ignore him--he's a Bitcoin supremacists who feels threatened by Monero's attributes (though he should embrace them if he embraces the cypherpunk spirit in which Bitcoin was founded, but whatever...I'm sure he's on a Ethreum thread by now).

Apart from Eth still being totally flawed overtechnical dung, gas of the internet is absolutely one retarded term.

^^Yup  Wink

Bank reminds of mortgages

The Hypothecary Bank is aiming to fulfil its role in the markets by providing long-term financing for land. Lots can be mortgaged to 50% of their market value. Building value cannot unfortunately be taken into account, because the buildings can be demolished and their resources sold (demolish is free and 100% of STO1, 100% of windows and some IC from the lux are gained) without the Bank knowing.

Yet, if you buy land, and then mortgage it, you get a nice boost to the building budget! Smiley

Currently, the Bank has appraised B.23 and the loans are pending batch handling. B.22 will also have a set value based on the share conversion and mortgages will be offered. Versailles is the best of all - land is given for free, yet the King has promised it can be mortgaged for a long loan! There is mandatory massive building, so the money will certainly be of use.

If the Bank's current assets are not enough for the needs, a long loan is planned that would expire at the same time as the mortgages (1660). The large size of the emission would allow aftermarket liquidity as well + better rate than CON is paying.

If I'd like to take advantage of this offer, who do I the contact?
2435  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: March 18, 2016, 12:48:03 PM
I am still freaked out by the total volume in alts. Does it not seem fishy to anybody else?

Yeah, I don't understand how over 560,000 XMR have been traded in the last 24hr on Polo and yet the total sell order book is only around 310,000 XMR and the price has not moved at all.  Huh

Bots, bots, and more bots....

Manors 1631

The current holders of the lease are offered an extension for 1631-1635 in the following terms:

- Annual and automatic payment of 20 mil (same for all(!) - note that in addition to 120-280*S-VE2 and 60*S-ME, the manors now also have 50*S-FOI2 and 30*S-CAN2, making them almost equal in production value)

- Army is optional: if a GM event occurs due to lax protection, it may affect the production or destroy production shares. Especially the latter is very detrimental to the owner and if it happens, the manager will

Once the S-VE1 have established their value and some other conventions regarding countryside buildings and ownership are ready, freehold can be considered. Freehold can be further split by the owner to several Farms (for now, Manor is a good operational size). At that stage, the number of production shares will be completely determined by factors such as distance, road connection, production buildings, security etc, instead of a fixed number.

Crichton finds the lease terms agreeable and would like to continue on as Essu's protectorate for the near term.
2437  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: March 18, 2016, 04:37:19 AM
I don't think anyone is seriously suggesting giving Aeon a gimmick or associating it with an animal mascot/name.

I maintain that Monero may one day be the money of the people, and Aeon could become the money of those who fashion themselves as something 'more'.  One possible scenario is that DNM's bite off hard on Monero and taint the name beyond repair, despite its technical success.  If that happens, Aeon can be waiting to pick up the banner and keep marching.

Another, very different, scenario is that Monero becomes a slower international private settlement ledger while Aeon continues to radically evolve and focuses on being more nimble and mobile.

You sure? Magical Pegasus Money has a nice ring to it.  Tongue
