2421  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin mining (Does this look right) on: October 09, 2013, 06:58:06 AM
Yes you are mining, but too slow. You haven't found any shares with sufficient difficulty.

Just keep going.
2422  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is Bitcoin really anonymous? on: October 09, 2013, 06:55:40 AM
Bitcoin can be anonymous, but you have to put the effort in.
2423  Other / Politics & Society / Re: NOD, one of "top 1%" of SR sellers arrested on: October 09, 2013, 06:52:03 AM
And yeah, it's really, really stupid to assume that Tor and PGP are magical invisibility cloaks.  They might be great for hiding your penchant for porn or messages to your mistress from your wife, but if maintaining secrecy is absolutely critical then assuming that they're impenetrable is kind of stupid.

+1

From what I've heard this new sheep marketplace replacing SR was up and running within 24 hours.

LOL  Cheesy

24 hours? I can guarantee there's 'holes' all over place with that one. You can be sure the authorities have been all over that one already.

Can't wait for the sob stories when everyones coins go missing.  AGAIN.  Cheesy
2424  Other / Politics & Society / Re: NOD, one of "top 1%" of SR sellers arrested on: October 09, 2013, 04:28:15 AM
I would take Tor's anonymity with a large pinch of salt. I certainly would not trust it with my life. (ie, running an illegal drug marketplace hidden service.)

2425  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bearish Scenario on: October 08, 2013, 08:09:15 PM
With Silk Road down Bitcoin now has now no practical use.

you think online marketplaces for drugs are gone?

Black Market Reloaded http://5onwnspjvuk7cwvk.onion

Sheep Marketplace http://sheep5u64fi457aw.onion

Deepbay http://deepbay4xr3sw2va.onion

all the vendors are moving over and verifying themselves via PGP signatures.  BMR and SMP have grown significantly already.

Silk Road 2.0 https://github.com/goshakkk/silk-road-2.0-concept
- http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1nxgnq/silk_road_20_a_concept_of_distributed_anonymous/

MasterCoin could be extended into a fully decentralized silk road http://www.reddit.com/r/mastercoin/comments/1nqcq3/mastercoin_could_be_extended_into_a_fully/

Silk Road was the Napster.  We're just getting started bro...

I hope these new vendors know what they are doing. Their servers must be locked down 100%. Not 99.99%. I'm talking 100%, 24/7/365 days a year.

One little misconfigured setting in hundreds of config files could slip through vital information to be traced. Maybe a stray DNS query or misconfigured port. The list is endless.
Tor is not fool-proof.
And god forbid don't use PHP. That's just asking to be hacked.

Because the stakes are very high indeed. Their life.

Rather them than me.  Cheesy

Yes, 6 seconds later.

That account is now empty.

To help you, can you provide a link on blockchain.info of your transaction?
2429  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 27 confirmations and counting... on: October 08, 2013, 04:58:49 PM
Try explaining this to your sister. I'm sure she will appreciate the "blocks and hashrate" discussion.

Bitcoin is open to both sexes.
2430  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 27 confirmations and counting... on: October 08, 2013, 04:47:46 PM
I don't care about "nodes, confirmations, blocks".

Why start this thread querying about confirmations then?
2431  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 27 confirmations and counting... on: October 08, 2013, 04:30:38 PM
Also, i did my due before and google "bitcoin transformations and after 2 pages and half an hour couldn't fidn this." So fuck me for asking here. Next time, smartass, just avoid this post in the first place and go doing something productive for you.

Perhaps you should of queried "Bitcoin Confirmations".

Personally I like this coin as that was my first successful  pump&dump coin Grin

So you was the creator then.
2433  Other / Politics & Society / Re: NOD, one of "top 1%" of SR sellers arrested on: October 08, 2013, 10:48:24 AM
or to put simply

again im not into drugs, i just hate all of this false information and hype media brings to the negative side of things. either way by christmas i hope silk road references will disappear from media and the word silk road will only be used in reference to the sexual journey between a woman's legs. and to all the virgins out there, untill you have gone up the silk road, you won't know what i mean Cheesy

The point is that the government wants to make is that the online version of drug markets COULD TURN INTO a billion dollar industry. I'm sure major drug kingpins were watching the silkroad carefully to see how it played out. They of course would love to work in a similar manner. The FBI cracking down hard sends a message that this is not the new frontier for drug marketing, and most likely the established drug kingpins probably got the message, for now.

Defiantly. I expect nothing less than the full force of the law coming down on this baby.

Centralised marketplaces will always be found. Tor isn't fool proof.
Decentralised marketplaces will be the next natural progression. Hopefully later rather than sooner.
2434  Economy / Speculation / Re: Silkroad crash vs. Pirate crash on: October 08, 2013, 06:54:24 AM
Pirate crash was more epic in %. SR myth of it being most of the bitcoin economy is just rubbish and now debunked. Good riddance.

That was in no way disproven.

google listen to bitcoin click here http://www.bitlisten.com/

listen, and realize SR is gone.

think, think really hard.

Oh, well if you mean transactions, no.

But if you mean it didnt support the market, that isnt yet proven. Would take at least a month to see.

We'll wait and see. Personally I would feel embarrassed to admit involvement in Bitcoin, if it were found it's main backbone was a drug market.

I dont see why it matters. If bitcoin ends up having other uses in the future, then what it was used for in the past is irrelevant IMO.

Well my Bitcoin holding value has increased thousands of percent. I would feel pretty bad that increase was an indirect result of the drug trade.
2435  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should miners collude to steal funds from wallet confiscated by US government? on: October 08, 2013, 06:48:39 AM
Let's say you ordered something absolutetly legal, from a webshop, then webshop gets shut down your Money sized because the Webshop also sold Drugs, the FBI stole our Money and they will use cheap Tricks to keep it

you say DPR is bad guy, the Government did way worse they constructed a Case that wouldn't have happened
if the FEDS wasn't involved,

HOW MANY FUCKING GUVERNMENT SHILLS ARE IN THIS THREAD ?

i' am pro Steal Team 6, let's create some havoc

If anyone is a government shill, it is anyone urging people to participate in an illegal criminal conspiracy that cannot possibly end well.  Agents provocateurs, anyone?  Not that it's going to happen, or that anyone here is actually a provateur, since the scheme is so transparently idiotic that nobody in a position to do it (the mining pools) would actually do it.  But anyone taking this seriously, rather than joking around about it, has clearly been consuming too many research chemicals from SR.

+1

The only ones that want the coins stolen is the little junkies that lost their drug money. Yeah, let's undermine the whole integrity of Bitcoin to please the butthurt druggies.

Mods please lock this dumb arse thread.

Has it occurred to anybody that maybe FBI is mining, and could process the transaction themselves? Hell, they may even be running a major pool for all we know.

i love statistics like upto 70%.. as that means anything from 1-70 is correct... UPTO being the keyword

Exactly. The key point is though, it isn't 0%.
2439  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoins on the way out? on: October 07, 2013, 09:49:35 PM
a victim of its own success and technology, ive read more about bitcoins in the past few months than anything ive ever looked into excluding my own Engineering Career, i think bit coins is over come january next year the mining with be abandoned and the network will slow down to a crawl creating new problems after the money men have invested alot into this , as miners we know whats going on with the tech. the investors just see a cash cow and bandwagon to jump on to make money. without mining there's no bitcoin. chicken and the egg.

shame ive seen the rewards halved since the last diff change

One fatal flaw. When miners pull out difficulty will drop, coins will be cheaper to mine. Miners come back in again.
