2421  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin unable to breach the $8000 milestone on: May 15, 2019, 02:33:44 PM
As far as I know the price has been breach already, I remember seeing the price hits as high as $8200. So far it is still holding so for now I would say that we won't go down to the $4000 levels, at least with how much the trading volume is. Alt's has already risen, so maybe the new set of investors are also moving to alts, making it hard for Bitcoin to go above $8000. But this is just normal though, we still have a long way to go this 2019, we could end up at 5 digits at the end of the year so just be patience.

I saw Bitcoin reached more than $8200 but right now it is steadying itself at around $7900-$8000 and it seems that it is saving some energy for some more growth ahead. Now, there must be that need for some more good news on the horizon so it will continue its upward trajectory. It would be a pain to see it slide beyond $7000 though many can use the dip as an opportunity to buy more Bitcoin. In this market, nobody can really predict precisely where Bitcoin will be tomorrow or in the next week.
2422  Economy / Speculation / Re: Anyone here long enough? on: May 15, 2019, 02:25:02 PM

I have been observing and sometimes holding Bitcoin for almost three years now. Though we always feel that the best time to accumulate can be the time when the bull run was just showing some signs of coming, I think if we believe that this bull run can take us beyond the $20K then maybe the current $8,000 level is still a good stage to get as much as Bitcoin as we can. Of course, the problem is that nobody knows when this bull run will peak and when it will slide down to the bearish stage. So this is just a matter of feeling...that speculative gut you have inside and praying some luck along the way.

2424  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC to 50K, China banned miners on: May 15, 2019, 01:58:50 PM
Do you think about the negative effects of mining restrictions in China?  how the system can confirm millions of blocks without miners?  but on the other side, this is good news.  because China is greedy and they want to create a monopoly market.  when you make a thread about BTC price speculation.  and your predictions are correct like todsy.  what is the basis of your prediction?

In my opinion, Bitcoin actually just ignored any news with the China ban of the miners. I am sure that soon these miners can find suitable locations for their business so for now the impact is not given much weight by the market. Having less miners does not mean that Bitcoin can go high there is no connection with that I think and having more miners does not mean that Bitcoin can go down.
2425  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I will eat John McAfee's dick if BTC doesn't trade above $100K by end of 2019. on: May 15, 2019, 01:55:09 PM
Hilarious. John McAfee used to be famous for his anti virus software before, but is primarily remembered by his private parts and outrageous claims about revealing Satoshi these days. And this guy wants to become the new president? Hilarious indeed.

He is a man who knows how to use the media to his own advantage. And I think he made good money with projects he endorsed when ICOs were the in thing. I am sure he just enjoying what he is doing and that is to be a good joker in the world of cryptocurrency. At least he is a strong and famous supporter of Bitcoin...we can count on him on that. As to the dick jokes, well those are just jokes to get the attention that he wanted. And now that he wants to run for President...though of course he can't win he can be bringing the cause of cryptocurrency to the masses.
2426  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-05-15] Microsoft Picks Bitcoin to Create a New Identity System on: May 15, 2019, 12:10:58 PM
Microsoft determined that Bitcoin was the only technology with the performance characteristics capable of powering a truly worldwide decentralized identity system.

https://bitcoinist.com/microsoft-picks-bitcoin-to-create-a-new-identity-system/

This is actually a big good news and one of the best vote of confidence for Bitcoin and subsequently one of the big factors that analysts are pointing to be pushing the price of Bitcoin upward. With this Microsoft new ID system project, I am sure this can just be the beginning of other projects to take advantage of the Bitcoin network and technology.

"Microsoft is developing a Bitcoin-based decentralized identity system that aims to significantly improve privacy, security, and control while achieving tens-of-thousands of operations per second. Credentials, in the new identity system, will be wholly owned and controlled by the user."
2427  Bitcoin / Press / [2019-05-15] Crytopia Opts for Liquidation Binance for Upgrade on: May 15, 2019, 09:58:55 AM

Hacked cryptocurrency exchange Cryptopia has appointed liquidators as executives warn of an investigation lasting “months rather than weeks.” Meanwhile, Binance is undergoing a major upgrade.

Accounting firm Grant Thornton confirmed it was overseeing liquidation procedures at the New Zealand exchange, which lost $23 million NZD ($15.1 million USD) to hackers in January. “Despite the efforts of management to reduce cost and return the business to profitability, it was decided the appointment of liquidators was in the best interests of customers, staff and other stakeholders.”

Source: https://bitcoinist.com/crypto-cryptopia-liquidation-binance-upgrade/

Cryptopia and Binance both became victims of hacking but while Binance seems to be doing well and can emerge stronger, better and definitely financially solid, the same can't be said of Cryptopia which is now saying its farewell walk in the world of cryptocurrency. This can be an interesting study of where and how Crytopia failed in managing and containing the crisis and how and why Binance is succeeding its major challenge.
2428  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Believe it or not! XRP Will Go Past $4 on: May 15, 2019, 09:42:12 AM

Bitcoin is threading higher every moment as more glad tidings  evolve, yet some analyst are confident the season for altcoins like XRP is here. Adding more fact to the revelation XRP trades best amongst its contemporaries in the market today with a gallant stride along the rising wedge.

The big rally came as a post effect of Coinbase’s announcement that XRP trade service on the exchange is now available to New York customers.
Crypto Bitlord reassured his belief in the present bull run, adding that once the news breaks, XRP will make an uninterrupted drive to $4 resistant point. While the exact news being referred to seems a bit vague, Bitlord stressed that XRP will keep striding to flip Bitcoin.

Source: https://cryptonews.net/en/news/altcoins/149396/

This is a good prediction for XRP and if this can come true then XRP can be the one next below Bitcoin when it comes to marketcap. Do you think this can really happen soon when there will good news for this cryptocurrency? Will history repeat itself and even more?

Nangyari din ito recently, this year lang.

Pakibasa - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2349397.msg50759844#msg50759844

2430  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Union Bank To Launch Peso Stable Coin (UPHP) on: May 15, 2019, 09:13:27 AM

Sa aking alam malaki ang gamit ng stablecoin lalo na sa trading, sa mga panahon na very volatile ang merkado at gusto mong pumunta muna sa isang safe haven. I am sure UnionBank many things with this coin as it can have many uses not just in trading actually this can also be used in remittance here and abroad. The choice of a stablecoin is good since UB is not a decentralized financial organization. Tingnan natin ang mga susunod na kabanata sa bagong pangyayaring ito...sigurado ako UB will soon launch an introduction or education campaign on this. Here in the Philippines, we are slowly developing the cryptocurrency market and we have to thank SEC and the Central Bank for not closing theri minds on this platform.
2431  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Federal Reserve: "serious concern" about TNB's business model on: May 15, 2019, 08:43:53 AM
I declare that this link is a newsletter published on the Wall Street Chinese website. The translation into English is: The Federal Reserve: "serious concern" about the business model of TNB. I just think this news is interesting. I can discuss it. I am not malicious. I just want to know that the Fed is really interested in TNB's business model.

There seems to be an increasing interest with TNB lately and with some good publicity I am sure that there are those in the government that can be raising their eyebrows of the possible implications of the project...which can just be normal these days as cryptocurrency is supposed to be a big disruptor of things. So what is TNB? This is an interesting concept and has a big potential to bring in innovations and opportunities...

2432  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bitcoin and Ethereum Pump's up on: May 15, 2019, 08:31:21 AM
XRP also gains nearly 50% from yesterday, the reason is Coinbase Opens Up XRP Trading for New York Residents, this is the best news of XRP in this year.

XRP holders are singing and shouting hurrahs with the ongoing pump. They have been waiting for this too long and they are expecting this is just the start for the rise of XRP.  With many good news for XRP on the horizon, there is no reason why this cryptocurrency (if we can call it like that because there are some arguing otherwise) can be stagnant. At the same time, we are seeing ETH doing its upward dance finally. Seems to me that the Bitcoin bull run is now able to pull out alts from sleeping period.
2433  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-5-14] SEC Again Delays Decision on Bitwise Bitcoin ETF Approval on: May 15, 2019, 06:36:33 AM
It was expected I believe. SEC always delay their decision until the last time and then most of the time they'll reject it, citing that it's prone to manipulation and so on. Who knows when will they finally approve any ETF proposal. Regardless of this news, the market shows good growth. ETH is now trading above $220 and the rest of tokens follows it too. Imagine if SEC approves the ETF, maybe Bitcoin will skyrocket to $15k really soon.

I guess the rejection this time is not causing any havoc in the marketplace unlike in the past. I am sure the market will largely ignore this decision as it is clear that ETF is not necessary for the Bitcoin to do the bull run dance. The developments on BAKKT is enough for now though of course we are still dreaming for the ETF approval nevertheless. In case Bitcoin can cross the $10,000 level this month, it is now clear that we are in a big bull run and usually bad news are not given their weight at this stage.
2434  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-5-14] Twitter and Google Trends Influence Cryptocurrency Prices on: May 15, 2019, 06:30:59 AM

According to the data collected from the tweets on Twitter and Google search volume index (SVI), the number of tweets and their positive or negative sentiments affect the prices of cryptocurrency. The research indicated that the number of tweets changes first and then prices change later. Theoretically, if the users’ sentiment towards a certain cryptocurrency could be measured, then the price pattern of that particular cryptocurrency could be easily estimated.

On my own, I believe that the sentiment expressed by many in social media sites are quite reflective of the things happening in the cryptocurrency marketplace and whether the  sentiment can influence the moves of Bitcoin and Eth is actually hard to measure. It can actually be the other way around...developments in cryptocurrency markets are the ones shaping up the sentiment in the social media. The same thing can happen if there is a bearish market: a negative sentiment can prevail in the social media. It is funny that every time there is a bull run, studies like this are cropping up as if to provide the rationale behind why Bitcoin is going up and yet they can be silent when Bitcoin is down as there is no energy and excitement in there.
2435  Economy / Speculation / Re: When bitcoin will come out on the market before the launch to the moon on: May 15, 2019, 06:20:32 AM

"Bitcoin is taking off: sharks from wall Street are already on Board. The dynamics of bitcoin since the beginning of may resembles a parabola, noting an increasingly sharp growth day by day. The increase in prices has attracted the attention of the public.

Fear of missed opportunities (many remember how sharply the rate grew in 2017), activates retail buyers who previously lost interest in the market.

When do You think bitcoin will start to fall , so that the sharks of the market are stingy and weak market players are eliminated ?

There can be a correction coming so which can be a good opportunity to insert yourself into the Bitcoin bandwagon. Right now, I think speculators afraid of the FOMO are getting in which can fuel more growth further into the $10,000 level. From there, anything can happen either more pump or a little dump (if many can be cashing out). I can see that in some aspects we are following the same trends in 2017 so I am hoping that there will never be a big crash after the smoke is done.
2436  Economy / Economics / Re: Italy just figured out that the country doesn't fully control its gold on: May 15, 2019, 06:11:53 AM

No private keys, Not your coins!

Given that the national central banks are subordinated to the ECB, 2 Italians MPs asked the ECB on the legal status of gold reserves in the euro area states. Guess what? The ECB confirmed its authority!

Quote
"The ECB must approve any operation concerning the remaining reserves within the national central banks (...) as well as Member States' transactions with their foreign reserve balances above a certain amount"

So Italy may be the owner but they can't do whatever they want with!

I don't see any surprising element in that! Because that's how the European union is structured and every national bank is affiliated with ECB who is the whole and sole owner of the currency in Eurozone! And yes, I clap for the first comment you posted which nicely shows the entire scenario by adding a crypto perspective to it. That's one of the pain points for UK and that's whay they wanted to leave Euro zone to maintain control on their own wealth and didn't want to use that wealth to bail out poorer countries.

The Brexit has been very painful for the UK and there is no clear picture of how this can eventually affect their economy and that of the Eurozone. The decision to leave was based on the fact that it is losing its pivotal sovereignty which is at the heart and soul of a country. When you don't have a control with something you thought you own...the joke can be on you. And this is what Italy is finding out. As part of the European Union, they are now subordinates or under the people who are unelected based in Brussels.

2437  Bitcoin / Legal / The Urgency for Scammer Blacklist on: May 15, 2019, 06:04:25 AM

Quote
...major companies such as Ripple, Cumberland DRW and Galaxy Digital Holdings gathered to discuss some of the practical applications of such a blacklist. Similarly, alternate plans were also discussed to form a sort of “whitelist” by introducing formal industry standards to accredit firms in good standing.

Source is here.

We are all aware that the cryptocurrency industry is rife with opportunities, innovations and changes but at the same there is a dark side into it: the proliferation of scammers, hackers, phishers and all fraudsters which seem to have found the paradise they dreamed here. The incentives to do their business with precision and extreme talents can be so huge: billions of dollars were already lost into thin air and into the fat wallets of these people in just relatively 10 years of cryptocurrency existence.

That is why even if it might not be totally effective I am supporting the move for a group of major crypto traders to set up a scammer blacklist. This can help somehow to steam the tide of many scams affecting the industry and hopefully can be the start of an industry-wide response to this malady. Aside from the blacklist, what other viable measures the industry has to seriusly adopt in responding to this big challenge?

2438  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Price and Binance on: May 15, 2019, 05:18:32 AM
How many people think the price increase has been triggered by the fact that Binance has stopped withdrawals?
If so what happens to the price when Binance allows withdrawals again?

What can happen when Bitcoin will get back to its normal business? I am expecting that Bitcoin will continue to hodl on what it already gained because we know that Binance is a very big exchange and it is contributing a lot to Bitcoin marketcap. Actually, I don't see any connection between what happened to Binance with the rise of Bitcoin...in fact it is even surprising that even with the Binance bad news Bitcoin seems not be affected at all meaning to say the market just ignored the Binance spectacle. Binance is now stronger and I guess better with happened and is now ready for the whole world doing business as normal.
2439  Economy / Economics / Re: Crypto to trigger a global bank run? on: May 15, 2019, 04:58:51 AM
Firstly, come down to the ground because you are currently sitting on an imaginary issue which doesn't exist!

Understand the below facts,

1. crypto is not a magic wand.
2. Crypto is not created to bring economic overhaul
3. Crypto doesn't have the power to become global currency
4. Cryptos are literally a piece of code

Now, lets look at the possibilities,

1. Virtual currencies will take over the world economy which will be created and circulated by the central banks
2. Banks will have to bring in major technological changes in their operating structure to cope up with the changes
3. World will never move to "one world one currency" regime
4. Banks will still control the economy
5. The parallel economy created by cryptos, will get merged with mainstream economy after banks and governments realize that it's impossible to stop them
6. Crypto enthusiasts will keep the revolutionary ideas in heart but continue to live in reality

Constructive criticisms are welcome!

Sometimes we can get carried by our cryptocurrency-induced dreams that we tend to forget that we are still living in reality. We are dreaming that one day the whole world (and that of course includes China, Russia, India and the vast territories of the North and South Pole) will be coming magically under the influence of Bitcoin with maybe Satoshi Nakamoto coming out of retirement and lead the world towards the nirvana we all wanted with all of our heart and soul. This forum is for the dreamers but also for people who prefer to also live in reality. Cryptocurrency and the blockchain can be a good tool towards innovations and changes but relying on them to magically transform the world can be a bit too much.
2440  Economy / Economics / Re: A cryptocurrency with volatility can't be used as money on: May 15, 2019, 04:44:59 AM
Yes it's true, if the volatility is too high then its not suitable to be used as currency, imagine one apple cost 1 BTC today the next day it can caused 0.8 BTC and the next day it cost 1.1 BTC, it will make the owner hard to set the price and predict the profit, but if the volatility is within months then I think it is still okay, crypto currencies need to be mass adopted so the volatility is not too high

Volatility has and will always be a very big issue with Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies especially with our desire to make Bitcoin be a part of the mainstream population. Yes, it can cause a little mayhem for a business considering that Bitcoin has this tendency (especially if there is a bull run) to go up fast and sometimes to go down at the same rate. This can be remedied with the help of third-party infrastructure and I think we already have these apps in the marketplace. Still, volatility is the reason why in many cases there are overspeculations happening in the market because this can induce many to always hold their hoard in anticipation of a big increase days ahead. On the other hand, many are also benefited with the Bitcoin volatility as this is why traders love to their business with it. In other words, volatility can be good or bad for Bitcoin depending on which side are you in the equation and depending on which view you are leaning with and depending if this is giving you benefits or not.
