2461  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 2018 Portfolio For millioners on: December 30, 2017, 09:30:07 PM
Those coins are so 2017.  Roll Eyes

No seriously though, I don't think that 2018 will be the year of ICOs. The many shortcomings the economy will showcase through that developmental phase are likely to drive away lots of funds. In short, investors will be pulling out and it might take a good while until we see another pump like in 2017 again.
2462  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What's up with arbitrage on: December 30, 2017, 09:22:52 PM
I am not sure what other ways there would be to actually perform this in order to profit, but wouldn't doing arb with existing balances on exchanges work in a similar fashion than waiting for the funds to be deposited?
2463  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: IGNIS airdrop...are people trading already ? on: December 30, 2017, 03:00:57 PM
so does that mean price can only go down until jan. 1st ?
No, not necessarily. Prices might go up or down but it's all speculation and based on trusting that the exchange will come through with the promise of delivering on the traded futures.
2464  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple prices rise and the currency reaches the second place in the lists on: December 30, 2017, 02:08:56 PM
For a centrally issued currency, its creators sure made the right choise to let tokens be traded alongside bitcoin on unregulated markets. The participating banks and institutions are not a whole lot richer thanks to all the speculative investments made by everyone into ripple.
2465  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: IGNIS airdrop...are people trading already ? on: December 30, 2017, 02:00:34 PM
People are trading futures contracts. Essentially an agreement between people owed Ignis and the exchange that the equivalent amount of one shares of the futures being converted to ignis once they become available. It is big busines for exchanges these days, ignis seems to be blowing up too. Grin

It's a nice way to open up markets for those that invested.
2466  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SegWit2X] Together we will see a business through. on: December 30, 2017, 01:57:22 PM
Hello SegWit2X staff,

Would you please tell us when deposits and withdrawals will be enabled on exchanges? Thank you.

They won't be.

It's a fucking scam.

https://cointelegraph.com/news/what-the-fork-new-segwit2x-launches-with-massive-premine-unknown-development-team
What is the point of a premine even if the developers can't even cash out their coins?  Huh That wouldn't be possible with them unable to deposit on exchanges. At least the premine acts out as an incentive.
2467  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What's up with arbitrage on: December 29, 2017, 10:16:44 PM
just yesterday i noticed almost a 100% difference in SIA between bittrex and hitbit.
There are always opportunities in arbitrage but as mentioned there are hidden pitfalls primarily to do with bitcoin,
ie. Fees and transaction times.
I think that altcoin markets are trading with smaller volumes so if a coin is listed in many exchanges differences in price can be a normal thing. I'm posting in this subforum though because I'm talking about bitcoin to fiat pairs. With those markets having the biggest volumes consistently, it's really interesting to see them having big differences in price.
2468  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SegWit2X] Together we will see a business through. on: December 29, 2017, 10:09:44 PM
Has anyone's HitBTC balance been credited? I'm wondering why it's taking longer for them than usual while already trading futures.

HitBTC wat the first to credit both BCash and BGold even when the mainnet of those was unstable.
2469  Economy / Trading Discussion / What's up with arbitrage on: December 29, 2017, 09:06:33 PM
Has anyone in been observing this craze lately? Basically certain exchanges will have consistent price differences with other major ones. I'm not talking Bitfinex, which is probably done for, but pretty much all else known to be reliable exchanges.

I'm wondering, isn't there any pressure to close such gaps in the price? it's really a good chance for traders to profit with arbitrage but I really can't fathom how those gaps remain open for hours.
2470  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Best time to day trade? How to create a trading schedule in a 24/7 crypto market on: December 29, 2017, 08:53:21 PM
Crypto markets work 24/7, it's harder to track patterns in a market that is unregulated and has no closing times. The correlation between cryptos and stock markets is neither positive nor negative, it is close to zero actually. Cryptos are not connected to real world events much, if at all. It's all speculation in a free market. Buying low to sell high is the only reliable pattern you should apply to your own trades.
2471  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: All eyes on Japan in 2018 on: December 29, 2017, 08:51:07 PM
The use cases of crypto are a bit overstated in my opinion. Prices are all speculation and traders know that perfectly well.

However, it doesn't mean that this massive flow of capital hasn't created some actual innovation. I'd really like the open source nature of cryptocurrency to grow because even if the economy becomes a thing of the past the only way for it to leave something behind would be if the technology survived.

Also, cryptocurrency hasn't been about giving back to the world's poorest. It's so far been trying to take wherever it can from people that actually do have the money to give. Never before has technology and innovation been rewarded at such a rapid rate. It's all a game of free markets and literally anyone could profit out of it. Poor or rich. The distribution of wealth crypto allows for is something new and Vitalik better not badmouth other cryptos.
2472  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 29, 2017, 09:59:07 AM
People keep talking about manipulation in USD markets but take a look at GDAX BTC/EUR. Who put up this sell wall and why?

It's a 500k EUR sell wall all of a sudden, god dammit. No other market has such a big bump of resistance in its depth chart.
2473  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Futures trading causing the drop ? on: December 28, 2017, 12:06:17 PM
Am I the only one who thinks that futures trading only gives the governments and the bankers a way to destroy Bitcoin ? I fail to see how this is in the best interests of the people who wanted a decentralized currency
To the contrary, I think those praying on actual market prices on live markets can make futures traders have a bad day. With serious accusations against major exchanges for manipulating prices I would not be surprised to find out that big players in live markets are also profiteering against futures traders.
2474  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [HARD FORKS] Updated List of Bitcoin Splits on: December 28, 2017, 02:10:54 AM
I added all the forks I had in the OP to the table and ordered them. I'm now looking through the suggestions in the responses here.

Does anyone here know details about Bitcoin Atom and Lightning Bitcoin? I didn't find dates of block numbers for a snapshot doing a quick skim over their websites.

Hello, some people say the upcoming segwit2x is a scam one, they put their arguments in reddit pages.

Do you have any information about segwit2x fork?

If it's not a scam fork, how will we claim our b2x coins after the fork happen? Thanks!
Futures of it are already trading. I can't say with certainty whether or not it is a scam but it could very well be and nobody is certain prior to launch. Watch here for developments in terms of the price:

We had an other Bitcoin fork:

BitcoinHot

Added
Lightning Bitcoin was at 499999
Updated

And now for a shameless plug:
I'm available for bitcoin and cryptocurrency related article writing and content creation in general. If (amid anything crypto related) the topic of forks is something anyone could use written content for then I'd be eager to work for that.
2476  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Rate my Portfolio for 2018 on: December 27, 2017, 03:40:56 PM
I think that it's a bit late to go in Ripple now that it is at an all time high. The central foundation could always issue more tokens, lessening the value of existing ones too. It's kinda risky to hold it if your entry price was high in my opinion.
2477  Economy / Services / Re: web development services on: December 27, 2017, 03:39:44 PM
I think this topic belongs in the services section. Move it there.

Also, as a suggestion I'd say that it might be better to create a portfolio of past works that you could showcase. It's especially useful for potential clients to judge you by your work. I know from being a freelancer myself. Good luck! Smiley

This is one of the most generous things I've seen around here. I love those coins. I'll be sharing a Christmas story:

T'was the final day before post offices close down for Christmas festivities in Greece. Many people had gotten there to receive or send presents, get their pension and other post-related activities.

The post office staff were doing their best to serve the overflow of citizens looking to use their services. The understaffed post office was full of people.

About an hour before the announced closing time for servicing the public, the oldest and most experienced clerk stood up an proclaimed: "I will now be locking the doors, too many people here! No one will be able to enter from now on, ask for us to unlock to get out." The post office clerks wanted to get home in time too, after this day of tiring work.

But minutes lated after the door closed, there comes a mother with her little girl. Looking to send Santa a letter. "We're closed", shouted the old clerk, as soon as she got wind of them wanting to get in. But the girl really wanted the letter to be sent.

Her mother stood by the door and as soon as it was unlocked for someone to get out, said "we're here to mail Santa". And they were let in. The mother, though, in a hurry to get back home in that cold day, would not wait in the long queue for such purpose.

She threw the letter in a letter box, but just after turning her back, the old clerk said "unstamped letters go unanswered". The little girl barely managed to hear that, but believing in Santa she started shouting and crying to her mom. People in the post office tried to lift the spirits but it was an exercise in futility. The mother still picked up the girl and left.

Luckily, a lady made a good deed, and asked the same and otherwise grumpy post office clerk to stamp the letter whenever the box was opened, paying for the stamp herself. And the clerk agreed! So the little girl will be getting a surprise response from Santa this year.

As narrated by my mother to me. She was the nice lady at the end.   Smiley
Volunteers do answer Santa letters in Greece. Ain't that sweet?
2480  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: John McAfee just tweeted about Reddcoin (RDD) right? on: December 24, 2017, 03:09:54 PM
This guy is a low tier pumper. Reddcoin has nothing to offer amid the technology of new coins. It's a coin from the old days that has evolved a little, likely making its developers rich. But we can't be stuck to altcoin forks of the dogecoin era. I'd be glad to see it gone and its truly sad that novice crypto investors are being sucked in by this idiot's calls. Mark my words, Reddcoin's fall will be one of the biggest ones in the following days.
