2461  Economy / Economics / Re: Why btc/usd not rise since difficulty update? on: June 26, 2011, 01:19:14 PM
There was a huge diffuculty update last time, its not easy to mine bitcoins now.
So why peaople sell them for a $15 at tradehill?
mining is not everything, NOOB!
Please, re-check my question.
you are saying: it harder to mine, therefor btc price should also rise, with the difficulty.
i am just saying: NOOB! it is not about mining.

2463  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why I have fallen out of love with democracy. on: June 26, 2011, 10:35:01 AM
Just wondering. Are there any alternatives to democracy that are more fair / better or anything?
it depends on what you are trying to achieving.
if you wants to do things most fair for anyone the majority, its democracy.
if you wants to get things done fast, its Dictatorship that works.

Fixed.
sorry! that also what i ment.

2470  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wikipedia wants to delete Satoshi Nakamoto page on: June 24, 2011, 03:55:14 PM
Satoshi Nakamoto currently has a page on Wikipedia, however it looks like the page will go away. the page was originally marked for deletion, a discussion ensued, and they abruptly closed the discussion and concluded that it should be merged with the Bitcoin article. Despite the majority of those involved expressing interest in keeping the page.

If you are familiar with the wikipedia processes I would encourage you to participate in helping Satoshi keep his rightful place at Wikipedia.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satoshi_Nakamoto
sounds like a good idea! no offence... but it should merged into the bitcoin article

its not encryption, its called hashing. get your terms right before you post.
2473  Other / Off-topic / Re: How secure is Ubuntu login password protection? on: June 22, 2011, 07:22:55 PM
I had a feeling it wasn't that secure, but it almost seems pointless (er, I guess I couldn't have gotten into someones computer).

Thanks all.
it is secure if you encrypt the home dir

relax and wait. at least for 24 hours.
2475  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why all the bitcoin haters? on: June 22, 2011, 04:49:40 PM
It could be worse, though. We could have a virtual currency run by Zynga.

to TheSeven
Thank's for this implementation.
I get your project from https://github.com/progranism/Open-Source-FPGA-Bitcoin-Miner/tree/0a9077e5c070e0a601981c6ec42dfc946fe3ccd6/projects/VHDL_Xilinx_Port
VHDL synthesized well, but an error got when run miner.py:

Code:
root@debian:/home/user2/d# python miner.py
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "miner.py", line 478, in <module>
    curses.wrapper(miner.run)
File "/usr/local/lib/python2.7/curses/wrapper.py", line 43, in wrapper
    return func(stdscr, *args, **kwds)
File "miner.py", line 380, in run
    self.showstats()
File "miner.py", line 290, in showstats
    self.statuswin.vline(4, x, curses.ACS_VLINE, my - 5)
_curses.error: wmove() returned ERR

What it means?
I run it on Debian 6.0, Python 2.7.2

it has some thing to do with curses.
try a different terminal maybe, i don't know.
2477  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Should there be Three Laws of Bitcoin? on: June 22, 2011, 02:06:06 PM
the first one looks legit, blacklist of coins. but... YOU CANT ISSUE NEW BITCOINS.
at some point governments will force a blacklist upon merchants, bitcoin-banks and exchanges.

im not a fan of it, but i see it can be done. and i think will be done. sadly Cry
2478  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Open Source FPGA Bitcoin Miner (Smaller Devices Now Supported!) on: June 22, 2011, 02:00:54 PM
maybe the guys talking about ASIC should start a new thread about ASIC mining.
no offence. but the thread is about FPGA mining. i really like guys who haves bit idea for bitcoin mining, but you are getting offtopic now.
2479  Other / Off-topic / Re: How secure is Ubuntu login password protection? on: June 22, 2011, 01:07:11 PM
There's not even any need to pull the disk. Without any encryption it is trivial to boot into the root account, change any password, collect any files, install any software, and put the passwords back when you're done if you want.

With home directory encryption your personal files would be safe, nobody is going to get access to those unless they have your password. Of course, if they have repeated physical access while it's in you possession they could boot into the root account and install a key-logger.

You don't have to browse shady things to be a potential target. For example, compromised ad servers can push attacks across many popular respectable sites.

There are no guarantees, just levels of confidence.
you could also do some of the coldboot voodoo, reading from coldbooted ram attacks, to get the password.

Cheesy
2480  Other / Off-topic / Re: How secure is Ubuntu login password protection? on: June 22, 2011, 01:04:52 PM
when you bootup, you press escape, you get to grub.
and from there you can bypass whole the boot process.

of couse you can have encrypted homedirs, with ecryptfs
