A few questions I couldn't find answers for:

How can I specify what is the maximum space that BURST takes? Or how does this exactly works, it creates a big file on hard drive?

Also, does the speed of mining (hashrate) depend on how powerfull the CPU is? Or is the hard drive free space the only performance parameter?

You set the number of nonces, you can get this info from the guide. The CPU only matters during plotting, after that it barely gets used.

Hmm, "nonces" are not mentioned neither in windows or linux guide ... can you please point me to the guide where it shows how to set the size I want to use for mining BURST?

You're going to have to do a little reading, then if you have specific questions, I would be more than happy to answer them. What I can tell you is this...

account number (starting nonce) (number of nonces to plot) (memory allocation) (number of cores)

Take that and combine with the guide and i'm sure you'll figure it out.

Only found 1 block yesterday, then I realized... I had over guessed the number of nonces to plot...

and WHEN YOU DO THAT IT ERASES THE PLOT AND STARTS OVER!!!

so make sure you calculate the number of nonces correctly, or you'll be re-plotting 2TB like I am now. (facepalm)

+ 10k Burst from me.

@ Burstdev Can we Donate for a Homepage? I think that would be important to attract more investors and also for a larger echange. Many do not want to buy on c-cex.

Thank you, OP updated

add another 5k from me Smiley

I like the idea that you can't use the space. It makes it more valuable. That means you need to buy HDD space specifically for mining BURST, thus raising the value.

Can we get a multipool bounty going please?

I pledge 5k BURST. This will up the buying pressure and bring attention.

At first I liked the idea of being able to use the space, but currently my thought process is more in line with yours. I also believe it's more valuable when you buy hardware specifically for it. Smiley

Welp, I'm officially obsessed with burstcoin. I just formatted my 3TB drive which was full of HD movies that I've been collecting for years. I figure I can re-download the movies, but I'll never get a chance to mine BURST at this low of a difficulty again.
I know, I've never seen a coin as cool as burst, im going to buy some while its still low.

I've been obsessed since I first started, my third drive purchase is on it's way.

Dang, 2TB of my space hasn't been mining all day Sad

If I got a multi-TB hard drive, connected it to a computer, formatted the drive, put the wallet and miner software info in a folder on that drive, and used that computer to plot the rest of the drive, then took that drive out and put it in a different computer...

It would mine with no problems, right?  I'd open the wallet file and start the miner and it'd be no different than if that drive were installed and plotted in that computer right from the start?

Yes, that is correct.
2489  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: BitLasers.com - Handheld Lasers and accessories (We ship worldwide) on: August 28, 2014, 04:57:07 PM
I think I will actually buy one Grin
Lasers are awesome! And you are accepting Bitcoin too!?!
Will hit you up with a pm soon.

I definitely want one too, but I gotta wait a little while, I have been doing quite a lot of spending

Having great luck today, hit 3 blocks: 6009, 6100 and 6118 so far. Only 50% done creating plots on 2.785 TB space and prior to that only 1 block in 5 days. Started 6 days ago creating plots for my recent setup change.

Glad to hear that! I just hit a block myself! 6114 Smiley

Hey can we seriously get a multipool?

We need that and coinmarketcap to add us.

Multi pool will add nice buy pressure. I can also use my mining rig for more BURST =D

The multipool isn't necessary at the moment, but coinmarketcap is. I sent them a tweet and will send them a suggestion/request on the forum.

Anyone have a url link for the logo? Need it for sending a request for coinmarketcap.

Speaking of logo. Is that the one we are going with?

I know the dev hasn't premined anything for bounties but I am thinking a community bounty for a logo contest is a great idea.

I will pledge the first 5,000

We need a logo that is voted on. (Even though I personally like the current one)

I'll throw 5k in on the bounty. Smiley

I believe we will see around 3-5k sat at the first real peak.

I certainly hope so, make me regret selling the 160k or so I did. haha. But hey, had to pay for my new drives!

Too add some speed comparisons, a 2xE5-2650v2 (when the plotgen is compiled with march=native and -O3, though that doesn't appear to make a difference in my limited testing) gets around 14000 nonces a minute, which clocks out to a bit over 200GB an hour, or around 4.6TB/day.

wow, that's absolutely awesome.
2494  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BURST] Burst | Efficient POC Mining | Update to 1.0.3 before block 6500 on: August 28, 2014, 01:57:02 AM
Interesting idea, although I dont see how in the long run it would change anything. If it catches on people will compete with their HDD size rather than hashrate.

Sure, but also won't be taking a billion watts of power to run. There will always be a competition somewhere. May as well not take (in my case 550+ dollars a month) to run GPU rigs or the like.

Check your PM.

Do you see that word "offers". Have you ever seen it before?

That IS a strange word... but I am pretty sure I know what it means.

.25 BTC shipped to Reno, NV. 89523 is my best at the moment.

sold. Payment sent.

at the very least provide proof.

Incase you missed it.. Check out my review and Dev interview of BURST at CryptoTycoons.com

Very nice, I am reading it now. One thing I noticed right away, it's not 'more plots you have the more hashrate you have' necessarily... It's more space, so either bigger plots, or lots of little plots. But I'm stoked someone wrote another article! I will let you know my full opinion when I am finished. I am also going to follow you. Thanks!

edit: you also forgot to post the link to this ANN page.

also, this sentence, 'o make matters worse, the innovative new algorithm will force the whales who typically do most of the social media pumping to pass by this coin since there expensive mining rigs will be all but useless.'

The word 'there' is incorrect, it should be 'their'.

I would be more than happy to proof-read your articles and edit them for you, if you would like. Let me know! I am a sort of 'grammar nazi' lol.

This being said, I re-tweeted your article, and my offer stands to do your editing for you if you'd like. Thank you for supporting burst!

One thing though, the PR is rapidly developing, I know I for one tweet and talk in the chatboxes all the time, and tell people about burst, help them get started, explain everything, etc. So the coin does have people that are more than willing to promote it, myself included. It's just the fact that there are so many new coins emerging (you touched on this in the article) that people don't really give a coin a second look unless it's seriously something new and innovative. BURST is that.

Even if it's just a mining standpoint, this coin will attract a ton of people that don't want to spend a shitload on power, and/or don't have the power rates that I do here of just under .11 cents per kwh. With BURST mining, after the initial plot time, the mining is practically free. It costs as much as leaving your computer on, which I assume most people are like me in that respect, and leave them running all day every day.

People like me, can now mine this coin for 'free'. Amazing.
