2481  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [GUIDE] Making Quality Thread + Grammar Check on: August 11, 2019, 02:11:54 PM
The formatting in the opening post is dreadful, and I didn't read the post as a result of it. Please remember that this is a discussion forum. If you want to create web pages, then please get yourself a website, and remember that an individual post is not a web page. It must be even worse for people trying to read threads on mobile phones.

I'm not trying to make a webpage, this method is just an optional thing to make it easier for a reader to find their interests.
As an avid reader, we find this helpful when scanning the subjects or categories in the unread posts and will easily fasten up the browsing. Therefore, it will save more time to browse the other threads that we wanted to read, and I know it's not required to read all the posts, so it means that it's an effective tool to attract a viewer.

We can easily convey what's my topic is all about. It's not a proposal or being implemented in the forum but a helpful method to avoid shitty titles.  Wink
2482  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: All Hail King Bitcoin: Why BTC Remains #1 on: August 11, 2019, 02:00:48 PM
Because most of us believe and support Bitcoin the most, there is no way Altcoin can replace it since Bitcoin was born, which shows how important and practical bitcoin is, and altcoin also affected much when the volatile market of Bitcoin.

Aside from that institutions are more focus on Bitcoin than altcoins.  So intitutional funds flow to Bitcoin market and this is one huge advantage against altcoin.  The security of its network is also one of the reason why bitcoin remains #1.

Some of the altcoins are dependent on the bitcoin market so it's very impossible for the altcoins to surpass the bitcoin. The bitcoin will still remain the number one cryptocurrency in the world. Just a fact that can't be edited, being number will exist forever.  Wink
2483  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Rising, Scams Rising on: August 11, 2019, 11:23:38 AM
Probably, many scams are already spreading again in the crypto world, there are massive sites of faucets that offer bitcoins for free. People should be aware that scams are very common in online activities, so they shouldn't blame the bitcoin if they're getting scammed. Just make it sure that you consists of knowledge about bitcoin so you can avoid scams.
2484  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Pinoy takot paren sa crypto-investing? on: August 11, 2019, 11:15:23 AM

They're always thinking about bitcoin pero in reality, mas maganda pagaralan yung mismong blockchain.

I hope na pagtuunan pa ng government or different departments yung modern technology na ito. We can be more innovative kapag alam natin yung about dito. Takot rin kasi yung government sa transparency, kasi baka i-apply yung sistema, corruption will immediately gone pag ganon.
2485  Local / Pamilihan / Re: bitcoin buy prices | Coins.ph vs Abra on: August 11, 2019, 11:07:29 AM
Wala ba talagang KYC sa Abra?
According to this reddit post in 2017, nangunguha ang Abra ng dagdag na verification pagkatapos mag-deposit to ensure the safety of user's funds daw.

According to this 2018 article naman, wala daw talaga.

Kung sakaling wala nga talaga, magkakaroon din yan sooner or later kagaya ng mga ibang palitan na may fiat/tether pairing.

According to the Founder of ABRA, Bill Barhydt.
Quote
No KYC if depositing Bitcoin Litecoin or Ether

Nagtataka rin ako kasi US based din yung platform nila which is required din ang KYC sa US, mas lalo rin sa atin. Can someone clarify this?
I know it's proven na legit pero bakit hindi nasisita ng SEC yung mga ganitong simplified trading platform?

2487  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin/Cryptocurrency user friendly? on: August 11, 2019, 10:46:01 AM
I believe that most problems for Bitcoin owners arise due to the lack of certain knowledge.  I am sure that you simply can’t lose your cryptocurrency funds just like that, because always a person makes a certain mistake.  I believe that the massive use of Bitcoin is still under the “big question” because our society is not yet ready for it.

Yes, every certain thing should be learned, ignorance on a certain thing is not an excuse to say negative accusations about bitcoin. Every knowledge and experiences can be acquired through other people, that's why we're here in the forum to discuss everything.
2488  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if you received Bitcoin from this wallet on: August 11, 2019, 10:40:52 AM
Then give it back to the same address that gives to you, simple solution. It means that you really don't own that BTC and make sure that you're not capable of hacking an exchange.

Well, in the exchange platform's situation, it's their fault to have a low quality of security. They should be aware on the start that the platform was functioning online, so hacking is very common.
2489  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Important terms that are frequently confused. on: August 11, 2019, 09:58:49 AM
As being newbie I have some doubt so please any one tell be difference between cryptocurrency and Blockchain. I know, ican find there a relevant answer . Please elaborate this.

Someone recently asked what's the difference of cryptocurrency and blockchain, can you add those terms on the OP?
There's a lot of terms that a newbie must know for her/him to understand the basics and it might help them to easily cooperate in every discussion.

FAQs

Blockchain & Cryptocurrency
Block chain is the technology on which the cryptocurrency is based on , it is more like the coding unit.

The cryptocurrency itself is the outcome of that ..

Block chain is a technology and cryptocurrencies are output , it will be helpful to know that besides the cryptocurrencies , the block chain is actually useful in all the sectors , the government , the hospital , the environment everywhere it is being used.

Satoshi - It's like a cent in Bitcoin.

2490  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can Anyone Tell me Difference between Cryptocurrency and Blockchain? on: August 11, 2019, 09:52:46 AM
I'm not sure why people (not only newbies) confuse these these two totally different things. It's something like to ask difference between money and bank. It's nothing strange that newbies migh be confused a little bit, but often experienced people do same mistake. When some big company starts to use blockchain technology, quite often I see people calling it as crypto adoption Smiley.
It's pretty easy to get the stuff missed up for newbies. Cryptocurrency and blockchain are both popular terms in crypto, and new people getting it mixed up isn't anything new.

It isn't really like banking and money, people learn about that since they are children, while blockchain technology has only become popular during the last 3 years. We definitely need to be more welcome to the new people of crypto, and helping them out with questions like this is great.

Blockchain wasn't really a common term for a beginner and none of us learned it in secondary or tertiary education. Maybe today, they're now allowing to add this on the curriculum for the new generation to understand what is cryptocurrency and blockchain.

Only a few people know what Bitcoin is because of media and news but did they know how does it function or generates?
So it's normal for a newbie to ask what's the difference between those words.
2491  Other / Beginners & Help / Trying a little experiment using a programming language. on: August 11, 2019, 09:47:46 AM
So I just want to share this little achievement of mine, I know it's kinda easy for some to make this but for me as a beginner, it's very satisfying. So I made a simple blockchain using a Programming language which is Python. Some of you already know what Python is, it's a programming language that is similar to c+, java and many more. You can use it to manipulate modules especially advanced devices to work based on your instructions.

I made a twist here, I'm actually doing this experiment by using my Raspberry Pi. --

It's kinda basic though but for me, it's another learning that I've achieved today.

So these are the codes that I've used on my blockchain.
Code:
import datetime
import hashlib

class Block:
    blockNo = 0
    data = None
    next = None
    hash = None
    nonce = 0
    previous_hash = 0x0
    timestamp = datetime.datetime.now()

    def __init__(self, data):
        self.data = data

    def hash(self):
        h = hashlib.sha256()
        h.update(
        str(self.nonce).encode('utf-8') +
        str(self.data).encode('utf-8') +
        str(self.previous_hash).encode('utf-8') +
        str(self.timestamp).encode('utf-8') +
        str(self.blockNo).encode('utf-8')
        )
        return h.hexdigest()

    def __str__(self):
        return "Block Hash: " + str(self.hash()) + "\nBlockNo: " + str(self.blockNo) + "\nBlock Data: " + str(self.data) + "\nHashes: " + str(self.nonce) + "\n--------------"

class Blockchain:

    diff = 20
    maxNonce = 2**32
    target = 2 ** (256-diff)

    block = Block("Genesis")
    dummy = head = block

    def add(self, block):

        block.previous_hash = self.block.hash()
        block.blockNo = self.block.blockNo + 1

        self.block.next = block
        self.block = self.block.next

    def mine(self, block):
        for n in range(self.maxNonce):
            if int(block.hash(), 16) <= self.target:
                self.add(block)
                print(block)
                break
            else:
                block.nonce += 1

blockchain = Blockchain()

for n in range(10):
    blockchain.mine(Block("Block " + str(n+1)))

while blockchain.head != None:
    print(blockchain.head)
    blockchain.head = blockchain.head.next
credits to howCodeORG of github.

The code is already existing but the twist here is I used my RPi.  Cheesy
I also know that some of you aren't familiar with this kind of software so here it goes.

Once I put all of the codes in the terminal of Rpi, it's now ready to run.
This is the output of blockchain.py.

It generates its own Block Hash and Hashes. You can also try it on your pc/laptop, RPi is also applicable since it's the device that I've used to show this.

2492  Local / Pilipinas / Gumawa ng Blockchain gamit ang Programming Languages. on: August 11, 2019, 09:36:27 AM
So while I'm having a calculation of my research, napaisip nalang ako bigla na what if gumawa ako ng basic na blockchain using Programming Language? I know that some of you already know this pero syempre para sa mga hindi pa nakakaalam and marunong gumamit ng programming language, you can actually try this!

The programming language that I've used is Python but there's a twist on my experiment. Ginagamit ko kasi yung Raspberry Pi ko at the moment so built in with Python na siya, bakit pa ako magta-try sa PC if meron naman sa RPi. For those people na magtatanong kung anong gamit kong model ng Rpi, Raspberry Pi 3 B+ po ang gamit ko.  Wink

Note: It's not necessary to buy an RPI for this experiment, sadyang nagustuhan ko lang since gamit ko siya rn.

So para saan ba ito?

It's a great experience also at madaling gawin and the most important thing is malalaman niyo yung bawat terms kasi alam niyo kung paano nagwowork.

--------
So ito na nga.
I tried the codes that I saw on github and put it on python, and this is the terminal of Raspberry Pi using PuTTy.

These are the codes:
Code:
import datetime
import hashlib

class Block:
    blockNo = 0
    data = None
    next = None
    hash = None
    nonce = 0
    previous_hash = 0x0
    timestamp = datetime.datetime.now()

    def __init__(self, data):
        self.data = data

    def hash(self):
        h = hashlib.sha256()
        h.update(
        str(self.nonce).encode('utf-8') +
        str(self.data).encode('utf-8') +
        str(self.previous_hash).encode('utf-8') +
        str(self.timestamp).encode('utf-8') +
        str(self.blockNo).encode('utf-8')
        )
        return h.hexdigest()

    def __str__(self):
        return "Block Hash: " + str(self.hash()) + "\nBlockNo: " + str(self.blockNo) + "\nBlock Data: " + str(self.data) + "\nHashes: " + str(self.nonce) + "\n--------------"

class Blockchain:

    diff = 20
    maxNonce = 2**32
    target = 2 ** (256-diff)

    block = Block("Genesis")
    dummy = head = block

    def add(self, block):

        block.previous_hash = self.block.hash()
        block.blockNo = self.block.blockNo + 1

        self.block.next = block
        self.block = self.block.next

    def mine(self, block):
        for n in range(self.maxNonce):
            if int(block.hash(), 16) <= self.target:
                self.add(block)
                print(block)
                break
            else:
                block.nonce += 1

blockchain = Blockchain()

for n in range(10):
    blockchain.mine(Block("Block " + str(n+1)))

while blockchain.head != None:
    print(blockchain.head)
    blockchain.head = blockchain.head.next
credits to howCodeORG of github.

The output of the blockchain.py with the diff=20, As you can see it has a huge amount of Hashes.

------------
Block Hash: 099f56cb4679e8269967eb4dd0408f64df67f050c77b10935cb32b7a7958ca11
BlockNo: 1
Block Data: Block 1
Hashes: 161183
------------
Block Hash: d4df2f16e65810d9a8aaae38e004f2b808e335381453e6ad22c7c875c64d55e2
BlockNo: 2
Block Data: Block 2
Hashes: 318974
------------
and so on...

The output of the blockchain.py with the diff=0, the Hashes are 0.
The hash of the block must be less than to the actual target for it to worked.

So this is it! I made a simple blockchain and learned it while trying to make it in my RPi. There are so many amazing codes that are available on github, pwede mong magamit yung python, c+, or java. I'll just want to share this simple thing, thanks for reading!

2494  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can Anyone Tell me Difference between Cryptocurrency and Blockchain? on: August 10, 2019, 07:35:41 PM
In terms of Bitcoin its only known real use of blockchain out there.

ETH smart contract for DEX/ICO & privacy-focused cryptocurrency (such as XMR) aren't real usage of blockchain then?

There's a lot of advantages on using blockchain, it's not for bitcoin only.
Take note that blockchain was created to have transparency and decentralization on bitcoin, so as an innovative student, I can clearly think many innovations using that blockchain. I can say that blockchain is an advanced technology that can be developed to be used in our society.
2495  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The 5 Rules that would have saved me THOUSANDS. on: August 10, 2019, 07:32:05 PM
1. Never invest in ICO’s - They are complete scams.

ICOs during 2016-2017 are very worth it to invest. Maybe today, it's a pure scam because those legitimate platforms are being covered up by multiple scams everywhere. Legit company and devs are losing hope for creating their own dashboard/platforms because of false information about ICOs. The only thing you can trust and invest with are the top Altcoins and especially the Bitcoin.

2497  Other / Meta / Re: Does this post deserve 10 merit? on: August 10, 2019, 07:17:45 PM
Obviously not, we have rights on what amount of merits we will give to a user. Let the campaign manager judge those, I know that he/she will not get into any campaigns.

as a gift,...
< a gift to someone >
I do not quite agree with this, I do not believe that merits should ever be given as a gift. One of the definitions of what a gift is, is: "something gained incidentally without effort".
And effort and quality are two indispensable factors that ought to be present in one's post before such person should be merited, except it's a merit for something being comical or witty, then it's understandable.

But gifting out merits for absolutely nothing whatsoever, post lacking quality, effort, or isn't in any way witty or interesting. Then I think it's not just cool, it may not be wrong in the rules, but it just feels wrong to do so.

Agree though, merits are for information or statements that might help the other users here. As long as the user appreciate the work of another user, he/she can merit those. I can't recognize it as a gift, it's a different aspect, merits should be given away to those deserving people not for personal desires.
2498  Other / Meta / Re: History Of Bitcoin & Bitcointalk Infographic [Long Gif Inside] on: August 10, 2019, 07:13:18 PM
Nice infographics but it's too long.

It's good to make it in text form because there's a lot of spacing in there. As a viewer/reader, it's good to view all of the information where our eyes can see than scrolling a lot. Fix also the grammar but in overall, it's a helpful infographic.

Steam is already accepting BTC also, this is not new
Steam stopped accepting bitcoin almost 2 years ago, back in December 2017. They stated "high fees and volatility" as the reason. You can read their press release here: https://steamcommunity.com/games/593110/announcements/detail/1464096684955433613. As of yet, they have made no moves to consider re-implementing it.

I see! I'm not updated  Cheesy
I'm using our local wallet which is coins.ph to buy SWC.

I hope they consider it on their platform again because I found it more useful than having multiple transactions buying SWC. If I will buy to the other platforms, it will be more expensive than buying direct to steam using BTC. Thanks for the information!
