1661  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is gambling a threat or fun? on: April 10, 2020, 09:34:11 PM
This question is always on my mind since then until now. I want to know the opinion of everyone here on this platform. I know that we have all different perception about gambling, so I respect what will be your point of view about that.

Globally, gambling is seen as a threat more than a fun activity you can engage in most especially as it has to do with placing a bet with money and since the chances of you wining/losing is 50/50 it becomes unpredictable with the later always been the outcome. The statistics of losing is far more than that of the wins since the industry operate on using their customers money to pay each other.
It's a global threat since most of the casino houses are affiliated with drug lords or criminals but in the perspective of a rich person who wants to be entertained in gambling, it's a fun activity. Casino houses will probably do their best not to lose any income and will put the odds on their own hands.

Customers will still go there due to its good benefits for middle-class people. Still, gambling can be also a fun activity but for some people only, so it really depends on the scenario.
1662  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ways to recover from being addicted in gambling. on: April 10, 2020, 09:04:26 PM
The gambler should have the source of motivation for going to the doctor and accept psychological therapy. Without the help of family, it turns out to be a one-way road for reaching the disillusioned life. In drug or alcohol addiction, the dip points are about health issues but in gambling addiction cases, gambler can go to bankruptcy.
Yes you're right there are no health issue in gambling addiction, only mental and financial ones. That's why people underestimate it and think it's not as difficult as drug, alcohol or cigarette addiction to drop it.
Yeah, gambling is very similar to those you've mentioned and can't be cured easily. Mental illness is one of the most difficult to handle since it requires a lot of time to get recover. People thought it's normal to gamble since it's just entertainment but later on, they regret spending all of their money on it.

Just have discipline in yourself, it might help you to get over with gambling addiction or any mental illness. Find some recreational or physical activities that will make you forget gambling.
1663  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ESEA and ESL betting (esport - csgo) on: April 10, 2020, 08:31:28 PM
Does CS:GO continue tournament players to play even if there is a corona virus outbreak?. As we all know, there are many countries that have lockdown their town to avoid people getting infected and those who are infected can't infect other person. As what I know now is that many sports and esports have cancelled or postponed their schedule of the game because of the corona virus outbreak. Since  someone already point out that there is a thread like this already then you shouldo do what is suggested to do it on one thread.
There are many tournaments held already for charity and some are for the league. They can play as long as they want and can do online tournaments during the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak. Since the online tournament is very common nowadays, they can easily implement those kinds of event without crowd through live streaming.

Some eSports tournaments are cancelled since travel ban is applied to avoid an increase of confirmed cases of COVID-19 like majors of Dota 2 and other world championship tournament.
1664  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Age restriction in gambling on: April 10, 2020, 08:23:25 PM

Actually, it's not just fro Wikipedia. I "googled" for the Malawi age restriction and other web sites says that the age limit in Malawi is 5 years. We can argue whether this is OK and normal or not, but that's their law. I personally think that it is a stupid rule. Why can't a 4-year old play casino? What is the difference between a 4-year old and a 5-year old?

Other sources:
- https://www.bestuscasinos.org/blog/why-are-there-age-requirements-for-gambling-online-and-off/
- https://online-slots.co/what-is-the-legal-gambling-age/

As I go thru the link I found this on the details of Wiki.

Quote
Children aged five are permitted in casinos. That is because the younger children (babies) do not know the meaning of money.

Somehow it is a good explanation.
Parents won't give them money since they know nothing about it.
How could they bet on something if they don't know the purpose of money or they don't even have the right amount?

But when the kid goes 8-15 years old then he knows it.
That means they could gamble their way if they have the amount needed.
There is also a chance they will make that money with bad ways.
There is worse than this.
Gabon - There is no official gambling age, although many incorrectly believe it to be 18.

True... They don't know the meaning of money. But neither does a 3-year old kid and yet he is forbidden to be in a casino. That's why I think it is a stupid rule. Either way, I think that any underage person have nothing to do in a casino.
I do agree with you mate people who made this rule must be crazy when they clearly know that gambling is not good for even teen agers as they can not handle the lose of their money we should not put our young generation in this kind of activities. Better let you children grow mentally then let them gamble and ask them to learn how to gamble first then enter casino.
I think they're just very confident in their education system that's why they thought that through education and learning systems, kids will understand the advantages and disadvantages of money. Obviously, even until now, there are many flaws and holes on the education system, it keeps developing and improving until we reach the peak of gaining knowledge.

But personally, even the child has knowledge through the whole art of money, the temptation to gamble and lose a good future is very high. So it's not recommendable for me even for college students who still getting taking their undergrad, they shouldn't gamble.
1665  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [DOTA 2] ESL One Los Angeles 2020 MAJOR [GAMBLING DISCUSSION] on: April 10, 2020, 07:20:37 PM
Personally I'd like VP to win but it's more likely Secret or Nigma will place 1st since both of these teams look really strong rn.
VP is stronger with the older squad together with Rodjer and Ramzes.

Don't forget about OG, they're also strong. Group stage isn't that much as long as they qualify to the playoffs and that's when the real tournament starts.
This is their 3rd time major that they wanted to participate in. OG with Sumail? I guess the major champion is already decided. Those long breaks will literally make burn again in the group stage until playoffs.

They'll gonna win against the odds so if this major wasn't cancelled, you better bet on OG.

Since the event is cancelled, we should talk about other events of dota 2 eSports.
1666  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which cryptocurrency do you use for gambling frequently? on: April 10, 2020, 06:58:55 PM
Bitcoin is the most used cryptocurrency for me in gambling. We all know that it's the common and top gambling platform that prioritizes bitcoin as their cryptocurrency. Obviously, bitcoin is the most potential digital money of all times so why would I stick to other cryptocurrencies?

I usually bet in eSports and bitcoin is what I'm using so I can easily transfer those BTC in my local wallet.
1667  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you have control or not? on: April 10, 2020, 05:34:40 PM
It depends on the situation when i am playing gambling because if i am experiencing a lose streak or losing several times that will be the time that i can control myself to stop playing, so i could avoid myself from having huge losses. But if i am experiencing a win streak i have problems in controlling myself that sometimes i become greedy because i assume that i am so lucky.
Actually, losing several times is partially don't have control. Sometimes, having a losing streak means you let yourself continue more because you expected to win in the next round. Perhaps 2-4 lose streak is enough and that's the signal to stop playing gambling, but if you continue, you're obviously not self-controlled.

It's good if you don't use self-control in winning streak situations because it's a positive condition that should be called blessing but if you feel you're going to lose your winning money, stop it now.
1668  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ESPORTS - predictions and tips (Dota 2, CS:GO, LoL) on: April 10, 2020, 04:09:21 PM
Just wondering.  I know DOTA has like the biggest tourneys.  I tried watching the game with Team Liquid vs some team on it and I found the game a bit slow...  Are there any other popular games out there?  Preferably with quicker pace.
Yeah, DOTA is quite complex unlike other games, and has the possibilties to turn close to being defeated moments into a winning one. I can't recall if I read it somewhere that there is some match in DOTA that took 3 hrs to finish, that's how complex DOTA is. If you're interested to similar games like DOTA but with a quicker pace you could try watching LOL as I can see the average game time takes about half of an hour (30 mins) or 1 hr depends on how competitive the match up is, but the gameplay here like building up item were quite quick. But if you want more quicker you could try watching ML (Mobile Legends) this game are making now its name in e-sports industry, and note this game are being played in mobile phones (as the title of the game says), usually the average game time here runs for about 20 mins, greater than that were really a competitive one.
I agree with League of Legends or LoL, the game runs for 30-40 minutes depends on the strategy of the player. Dota 2 gameplay runs almost 1 hour the game has a higher chance of having a comeback, unlike LoL that requires a lot of effort to reverse the situation.

Can I ask, are there any bettings sites that include mobile games especially Mobile Legends and PUBG mobile? Mobile games are fast-paced games even in tournaments.

Other popular fast-paced games in PC:
  • LoL
  • CS:GO
  • Overwatch
1669  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: COVID-19: Avoid casino, play online on: April 10, 2020, 02:02:54 PM
No one should rely on gambling they can make money from gambling, that's not a wise idea even in any situation. Gambling in the first place is just only a game of fun for most of us, therefore it should not take much of our time, we may even not do it on a daily basic, gambling occasionally is still recommended, but this is for online only since nothing can stop online gambling sites, unless they are close.

With this pandemic we are experiencing now, if we like to gamble, we should know what's the right thing to do.

Maybe it's time to completely stop thinking of gambling as a moneymaking thing? I mean, unless you actually WORK in the casino industry, or you are running referral/affiliate programs for casinos, ou really shouldn't be doing gambling to make money. It's just against the very logic of gambling (house wins in the end).
Yeah we should, it's not a good way of earning money. If we want to earn money then we should be practical on our actions and make an assurance that you'll grow your money. You can make a business, or invest in something that can help with your growth. Gambling was probably occurred due to the satisfaction of winning and expect to gain more.
1670  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: [MEGATHREAD] Pilipinas Coronavirus/COVID-19 Thread on: April 10, 2020, 05:01:10 AM

ASEAN COVID-19 TOTAL:
Cases: 16,538
Deaths: 529
Recoveries: 3,668

1671  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is gambling a threat or fun? on: April 10, 2020, 04:21:45 AM
Gambling can be threat or fun that it depends to a person if they will take gambling as a leisure time whenever they are just bored or they will take gambling to earn easy money by just playing. But mostly gambling is a threat because there are people who takes gambling seriously as a profit, not for entertainment that they always lead to greed and aggression in betting.

First, it was entertainment but after a few plays things will be changed unnoticed and in every game, there will become thrilled and excited, the fun will likely become a habit and that habit will be pushed to become an addiction. This is the time you need to stop because it will lead to your own destruction when you lose everything and keep coming back. You will encourage yourself to get back what you've lost which rarely happens to some gamblers. when they already lost big and manage to get it back somehow that's very rare.
If it's too much fun in gambling, of course this will be addictive and will be difficult to stop because they want to always be greedy what he won in the game, so it's no wonder many people do this and indeed the beginning for entertainment but for a long time it's hard to stop therefore we must be able to control themselves when playing gambling I'm sure with self-control then their finances will remain stable and will not be lost by gambling.

At this time many people are at home of course they will often play and therefore must maintain a balance in their financial self so as not to burden your needs.
IMO, not all that receives fun and amusement in gambling is going to become gambling addicts or get addictions. Often it's their way of relieving their tension from their job or other issues that really distress their lives. As long as you're having fun, and that's your one and only gambling intent, addiction won't be the case if you stay longer.

People aren't being greedy when they won, for some it's just a matter of satisfaction and that's it. You'll just get greedy if you're having an expectation to win again in gambling game due to high profit. Similar with playing online games, my truly purpose is just to have fun with friends and to relieve stress from school, getting addicted to online games is not an issue for me.
1672  Local / Pilipinas / Re: [Updated]Philippine SEC warns of crypto Ponzi Scheme on: April 10, 2020, 03:51:00 AM

Too good to be true kasi yung profit na makukuha sa small amount of time lang kaya kahit ako nagtaka rin nung umpisa palang.

I also created a thread about this way back 2018. BNL scam or not? What's your thought? [ponzi scheme]
1673  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: MOBA Gambling on: April 10, 2020, 03:31:47 AM
There are so many amateur player out there and I know most of us likes to gamble,
So my question is why aren't there any website that could host a MOBA betting for amateurs were they could bet and they could earn from their own skill.
Who know's maybe because of it they would be a well known player and become a professional.
The idea is already existed but not very reliable because you are betting on someone where the player himself can influence the probability of winning. It's easier to do an eSports bet because those players are genuine and determined to win the game and they want to put the name of the team on top.

You know guys, I think the real gambling is not video games.
Avoid having a traditional mindset.
People who hold gambling gate or should I say gatekeepers are very narrow-minded about new forms of playing.

Gambling is being updated as with our modern, non-stop-developing technology, which has already reached eSports, and even politics. Any games or activity which can play and gamble should be considered gambling. You can't say the video games aren't gambling simply because you can't see them in the casino house personally.
1674  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: Need suggestions on: April 09, 2020, 07:54:56 PM
Like what the other members said, try to buy BTC and wait for the moon. Since bitcoin halving is near, the chances of getting a high profit are very high, kaya't for sure lalaki ang pera mo kahit short investment lang.

The current price of BTC in USD is 7258.44$, last week nasa around 6k$ lang yan so medyo late sa mga nagbabalak bumili. But still, there are chances na lumagpas man lang ng 10k$ ang price or magkaroon ng bull run this 2020 after bitcoin halving.

You can also try trading. Bilhin yung mga potential altcoins na mababa ang price ngayon, then wait to grow. Here are some exchange platform na magamit mo.
1675  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Bitcoin Transaction without Internet. on: April 09, 2020, 08:46:26 AM
Possible but sobrang gastos. Like what @peter0425 said, since short range siya sa application ng bitcoin, magkakaroon ng maraming nodes and networks para lang makatawid sa ibang bansa. Maybe gagamit na ng fiber optics cable for that katulad nalang ng submarine cable na ginamit din sa Internet.

Pero to be specific sa topic, if may isang area na walang internet, probably pwedeng i-apply yung mesh networks and hanggang sa makarating sa area na may internet na. Same concept lang talaga.

While researching for this article I found a thread on this very topic here on the Philippino Board.
Bitcoin Transaction without Internet.
Maybe finaleshot2016 had my same idea!
I just notice it recently that you've replied to my thread in Pilipinas Board. Thanks for linking my own thread to serve as another reference about LoraWAN.
there was also another mesh wifi system years ago, called daihinia.com

maybe does not exist anymore.
It still exists but the software don't have updates anymore. There are new mesh wifi system exists today, especially those implemented by Huawei and cisco.

Hello, kamusta @filippone! I appreciate your effort to compose your post in Tagalog.

Nice, we've come upon the same idea. I've learned this idea of networking technology in my undergrad course and I ended up in LoraWAN after brainstorming. This is the most possible solution for now if the implementation of bitcoin without the internet will occur. Salamat sa pagbisita sa aking thread!
1678  Local / Pilipinas / Re: "Development" and "Improvement" of the Society: Discussion about Blockchain. on: April 08, 2020, 07:32:02 PM
bump this thread.
The thing you'll gonna do is to adopt the use of cryptocurrency sa bansa natin.
Yes, there are some existing laws already na pwedeng i-apply since sakop naman ng mga binanggit mo ang cryptocurrency. Tho, there are some holes but currently SEC is on the move and still studying about it.

SEC or Securities and Exchange Commission

Congrats for reaching Sr. Member, continue mo lang yan.

Magsilbing inspirasyon sana sa iyo itong pagrank-up mo na mag-pursigi pa lalo dito sa forum and don't do such things na makakasira ng sarili mo. Everyone deserves to rank up as long as your doing a great job and being fair to other members here. Avoid being a person that abuses the system just to gain and reach on the top, it's very toxic. Just do your thing, and believe that if you treat them as equal as you, everyone will support you.

This should be a reminder not only to you but all of the members here. Good luck on your journey. Wink

COVID-19 FUNDRAISING ACTIVITY OF ENGINEERING RAMBULAN

  • Lung Center of the Philippines
  • Manila Doctors Philippines
  • Philippine Children's Medial Center
  • Philippine General Hospital
  • Rizal Medical Center
  • Bagong Cainta Hospital
  • Dr. Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital
  • San Larazo Hospital

If gusto niyong mag-donate sa Engineering Rambulan.
