For how much do you guys think Stunna would sell primedice? I don't think he wants to right now but if someone offers 100 billion dollars he would accept , so that means there IS  a number but what is the minimum amount he would go for?

It's really a question that only Stunna can answer but it is fun to speculate about.  I think you're right that except in extreme circumstances there's almost always a price for anything.

this is a question that stunna cant give an actual number either because some people might be able to offer a crazy amount of btc considering the fact that PD has been established for quite some time and the community thats stands behind the sites wager up crazy amount of btc each day

But wait, if Stunna is owner and proprietor of Primedice then isn't he literally the only one who can decide how much he'd sell it for?  I think I understand your point that Stunna doesn't know the future (or so we believe Smiley ), yet Stunna can indeed decide whether he would sell or not for a given figure.
2502  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Question about long term security of bitcoins in armory on: March 18, 2015, 08:12:11 PM
Keys in armory are far more futureproof than with bitcoin core because bitcoin core uses random keys which makes backups problematic.  In theory you wouldn't even need a working copy of Armory in the future just access to the algorithm used to convert the seed (paper backup) into the list of keys.   Those keys could then be imported into whatever client exists in the future.   Brainwallet can convert an Armory backup into a list of private keys.

If you are particularly worried, print this function (lines 711-790) on the back of your paper backup:
https://github.com/etotheipi/BitcoinArmory/blob/master/cppForSwig/EncryptionUtils.cpp#L711

It is the code which Armory uses to generate your next private key.  With your paper backup and this code you can generate every key you will ever use. So even if Armory is gone, if Bitcoin still exists in 50 years you could recover your keys.

I was about to retort "what about the fact that that algorithm is somewhere in the guts of armory and in a future where armory isn't working how does this guy find his keys" when you wrote that about printing out the algorithm too.  Smiley

I'm not against innovation but I also think it's important for bitcoin users to be empowered.  Printing out your private keys in a way that you can access them without having to implement an algorithm (especially if you're not a software writer) is empowering, IMO.

100 billion dollars? it would be hard to find someone who wouldnt sell everything for it in my opinion

I can imagine a situation (at least theoretically) where someone essentially has all the money they'll ever need and so might decide not to sell on the mere principle of they don't want to.  Or something along those lines.  I'm not saying this is what happens in practice, just that it seems possible.

It was, but I restored it to the original owner a while ago.

Is theymos_away really theymos?  This is my first time seeing this account.
Yes.

I don't think 'normal' users can create an admin note

Thanks, Quickseller, there's obviously a lot about the forum software and its features which I know nothing about.  I should hang around more in meta and learn a thing or two from sages like you.  Cheers!

I fiiiinally got the criticism joke, but now I'm totally confused by the spiderman joke, which I suspect is not actually a joke just some random comic style thingy to confuse me on purpose...
Congrats on figuring out the first one. I knew you could do it.  Smiley

Regarding the superhero joke. Without trying to sound sexist here, being a girl, I'm certain you don't know the details of most superhero mythologies, so I'll cut you a break on this one. Thor's hammer can only be wielded by someone worthy.

Check out this video of the next Avengers movie, where Thor lets everyone have a go at picking up his hammer. I love the look on his face when Captain America (the only one of the lot being true in spirit) has a go at it.

Wow I was way out. I thought that was a fancy brass toilet brush on top of the toilet. Thanks for explaining Smiley

I was way out too, I just thought it was a really heavy hammer and poor spiderman wasn't going to be using the toilet here due to lack of strength.  I didn't get it at all.

Please tell me you're a guy! Then OYo will see my dumbness has nothing to do with my gender haha.

I have, all my life really, identified as male.  And my biological sex is also male.  I hope this helps.

Thanks Smiley

Well, I want all of your opinion regarding what payout should each board get:
Like we can say: (with random amounts)
Gambling section gets 1.25x
Other marketplace boards get 1.1x
Offtopic gets 0.1x
Meta gets 0.25x?

etc..

Also, since we don't rely on a bot to do the counting, do you have any ideas we could implement in making this er.. weighted counting more efficient?
(that is assuming we differentiate between constructive and non-constructive)

I wrote something about this in the main campaign thread (whoops) but I'll reiterate here for convenience sake.  I hope you do not go down this route.  As you insinuate, counting will become more difficult and what's more, we begin to have an incentive to post in boards we wouldn't otherwise post in because of the weights.  You have reiterated "post because you want to post" but implenting weights for subfora works against this, IMO.
2507  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Question about long term security of bitcoins in armory on: March 18, 2015, 07:29:50 PM
I think a better answer is a combination of the two answers above.

The paper wallet is what you need, and the ONLY thing that you need.

As long as you have a working version of Armory on some PC, this is true. It doesn't even need to be online, or be compatible with any version of Bitcoin Core. As tspacepilot goes on to say:

Make sure you know how to export your private key and address from armory into some sort of plain text.  As long as you can do this, you will not have a problem long term.

And as long as you have a working version of Armory, you can do this. You need to do a Wallet Restore using your paper backup, and then go to the Backup Wallet option and choose "Export Key Lists" as your backup type. This will produce a text file, and although you may need to change the formatting of the text file a little bit to get it to import into another wallet client, it shouldn't be too difficult.

It should be noted that you can't export the entire wallet and expect some other wallet client to be able to generate addresses/keys the same way that Armory currently does, instead you have to ask Armory to generate a list of addresses and keys as described above, and import the entire list into the new wallet client.

I agree wholeheartedly, you may have to fiddle with the plain text file to import it properly into some future client but as long as you have the information, this will be doable.  Don't be afraid to own your keys and addresses.  Don't trust software to take care of this for you.
2508  Economy / Services / Re: DADICE.com Signature Campaign - The BEST Campaign Yet | OPEN! | JOIN THE FUN! on: March 18, 2015, 07:27:03 PM

Well, that is exactly what the discussion is about.

I would rather tell you after it is over. Right now, even I don't know what we are finally going to decide. Wink

Hmm...But I hope the changes are made from next week as I would not post in the Gambling section just for the campaign.  I prefer making posts that are of my interest and I want to voice my opinion  Smiley

No problem. That is exactly what we want you to do Wink

Right, I think that if you start paying more for specific sections then you risk the spam incentive for people to try to write into those sections exclusively or more than they otherwise would.  Also, it's going to make your counting a lot more difficult because imagine I make 200 posts and 70 are in a class A section, 50 in a class B  section 60 in a class C section and 20 in an unpaid section.  Hopefully you are going to run max() to pay me 70 from class A and 30 from class B but tallying this seems like a pain in the arse.

So, in my opinion, it's best to stick with what you guys are doing: flat rate on posts and careful moderation to prevent paying for spam.

Also, thanks for the clarification about gambling.

LOL...I think you missed the point Micon was trying to make.

Maybe so.  I understood his point to be a humorous way to state that he now thinks of getting android client out there to be even more of a priority than he had previously.  However, obviously I'm quite obtuse so I'm sure I missed something important.
2512  Economy / Gambling / Re: We've opened a bitcoin casino! Bitcoins exclusively. on: March 18, 2015, 05:23:20 PM
As others have said, your best bet to get things going is to offer small change for free so that folks will try it out.  I know that I won't deposit my own money in a new site until I've had a chance to see that things are fair, acceptable, fun, etc.  On the other hand, sites that offer small faucets for me to try have often gotten me quite hooked and I end up playing with my own money once I trust them.

2514  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Question about long term security of bitcoins in armory on: March 18, 2015, 05:16:35 PM
I am a new user to armory and I like it so far, have not had many problems,  had the database error once and was able to fix it but I have a lingering question as I do not fully understand all of the nuances behind how wallets and private keys work with armory and with the bitcoin core client.

Lets say I store my bitcoins in armory, on an offline computer and do not access them for 10 years.

If the bitcoin core changes drastically and armory development ceases to upkeep due to whatever reason will I be able to import my armory wallet to other alternative clients? And if so will a watch only wallet be able to be imported? or a wallet in which I have lost the passphrase and only have the armory paper wallet recovery?

I'm not an armory user so I can't really address the very specific parts of your question however I can tell you the general and more important answer which is this:

Make sure you know how to export your private key and address from armory into some sort of plain text.  As long as you can do this, you will not have a problem long term.

I'm just saying that the core of the bitcoin philosophy is to be your own bank and to do this you need to be able to be able to own your own private keys and addresses.  If I were you, I'd export your private keys and addresses into plain text and print  them out on a piece of paper and keep it somewhere safe.  As long as you have this information for perpetuity, all current software clients can die and you'll still be okay because you can import your keys into whatever future software wallets are around.
2515  Economy / Gambling / Re: Has anyone here ever made money gambling with BTC? on: March 18, 2015, 05:10:12 PM
Yes, I also lost about 2BTC. The more I play the more I lost but can't help myself. I was able to win some, with a lot of different gambling strategy, but eventually lose all. All gambling sites are rigged. Initially, in every game site, the win:lose ratio is always like 6:4 (they do this to fool you that "yes, this gambling strategy works"). But the more you play, it will become 2:8, 1:9, and 0:10 (So eventually, you lost all of your BTC).

No matter what gambling strategy you used, you always ended up like this. But you will definitely build up more BTC from faucet, than from gambling sites.

One strategy to avoid this is to set a daily / weekly limit.
No matter how good/bad your luck is, you should not exceed this limit.

You have just killed fun.

Or killed heartbreak and disaster.  It depends on luck so who can really say.  Gambling is a dance with a sexy devil who can kill you.  You gotta be careful.  It's like drinking, it's fun in the right times under the right constraints, but if you let it get away you are the one who will suffer.
2516  Economy / Gambling / Re: SwCpoker.eu | No Banking, Only Bitcoin | Bitcoin Poker 2.0 LIVE NOW! on: March 18, 2015, 05:03:21 PM
Well Pilot if you find that proprietary OSs are quite dangerous than I am the one wasting my time. Such deep rooted unfounded  fear founded in experience suggests that you won't be able to overcome  it.  Just wait 2 or 3 months for the Android to be ready. Best of luck.

Fixed that for you.  Smiley

1)  Came to realize there are those that want the android client more than me. If I didn't have any action on a bus ride to work, but if the android client came out I would, I think I'd want to android client more than I want it right now, which is a very high amount of want for a specific client, but IMO not as high as a guy that is out of action on a bus.
[snip]

Thanks Micon!  (See guys, complaining can be useful!)
2517  Economy / Gambling / Re: SealsWithClubs.eu | Largest Bitcoin Poker Site | No Banking | Fast Cashouts on: March 18, 2015, 04:25:22 PM
first guess is that maybe you didn't have .1btc, but rather, 0.1 chips...?

Cashouts were confusing if you weren't paying attention... I would often absently mindedly enter the BTC amount (say .05) and it would come back saying you have to withdraw at least 20 chips, and I'd be "like ...what??? That's FIFTY chips! What's the problem here...?  Then the doh moment would come, and I would enter the number of chips, and it would cash out just fine.  Since your problem is the same ratio, you probably really did just have .1 chip, which is 10KSAT.

Once I figured out what need to be done, I got my 47 chips returned within a few hours of requesting them.

HS

Although in the final cashout system you didn't have to say how much you wanted to cash out, just that you wanted to cashout and where to.  You're right I'm sure about WarNeverChanges issue, it's almost certain that he's confusing 1 chip with 1BTC (even if it is a little shocking that someone could misunderstand their own fundage by 3 orders of magnitude: he thought he had approx 25$ when he actually had approx 0.0025$).

Special Announcement!

The minimum post restriction has been waived for very good quality posters.

The bonus has been changed to 0.1BTC each for top 3 constructive posters every week.
.

Oh this is pretty exciting.  I think I may have a chance to end up in the top 3 but there was no way I was gonna outshine Quickseller/Shorena/allusmus.  Also, I was about to post about removing the minimum post requirement (not that I've had a hard time reaching it), just that at approx 1 mBTC per post even one post is quite above the dust limit and, as you say, people should post because they feel inspired to do so, not because they are in a campaign.

Excellent news and good decision, IMO.
