USB wallet?  Meaning it is a USB memory stick shaped like a credit card, or is there something else to this?

It's just a simple usb memory stick made out of alloy that shaped like a credit card. The idea is that you can carry it in your wallet and have you bitcoins with you on the go.

so how does one create usb memory stick and running on what os ?

Its basically like backing up your wallet.DAT file. The instructions are available here https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/How_to_set_up_a_secure_offline_savings_wallet and will come with every USB in a text format.
2502  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin = Ponzi Scheme = You are an uninformed idiot on: April 14, 2013, 01:21:27 PM
There is no head, no chief, no central server, no central authority, no corporation, no Mr. Bitcoin at the top receiving funds, nothing.

But effectively, there is.

This out-of-context quote has nothing to do with the fact that bitcoin isn't a Ponzi scheme.  Even if I were to concede your point, mtGox isn't fraudulently funnelling new investor's money into artificial profits.

I'm not saying Bitcoin is a ponzi scheme. It isn't.

But Bitcoin, as of today, relies on "a head, a chief, a central server, a central authority, a corporation, a Mr. Bitcoin at the top receiving funds."

That head is MtGox. And that head needs to be cut of.

The problem is that MtGox has become so big that if they fail, Bitcoin will fail.If you take a look at what happened when MtGox was knocked offline for a few hours you will realize that the availability  of  MtGox has a massive effect on the Bitcoin price.

Continued interest. Make sure you let us all know when it's launched and we can order - why not 32GB. 8GB seems a bit small these days??

I will run a poll and if the majority decides that 32GB is the way to go I will change it to 32GB otherwise I think 8GB is the sweet spot between price and size.

Teka is it possible to have custom graphics? Like:

A. No
B. Yes, full custom graphics per card.
C. Yes, custom graphics mixed with obligatory graphics (company advertising) per card.
D. Yes, like B but only if you order many cards where each is thus still unique.
E. Yes, like C but only if you order many cards where each is thus still unique.
F. Yes, like B if you order a batch of those same card.
G. Yes, like C if you order a batch of those same card.
H. Yes, some of the above are possible, where the prices are .....
I(?). Other: .....

Shipping will be to the Netherlands.
I would love to offer full custom graphics per card but sadly the answer is f. Shipping is available to most of the EU, Canada and USA.

I'm in Ecuador right now.  Think you can ship it DHL?

I can certainly ship it via DHL to Ecuador but they are asking £46 and in case you're wondering UPS is asking £67.

I'm thinking at that price just get an envelope and mail it like a regular letter.  Probably be less than 1GBP

I wished, sadly the royal mail average is around £8 for overseas delivery and it seems like they are asking £7.78 for delivery to Ecuador.

I have been in contact with my manufacture about the prices and the final price is  £12.99 for 8GB drives.

Are you accepting bitcoins for this?

I will be accepting bitcoins. The project will be launched on https://bitcoinstarter.com/ and it will cost around BTC0.18 or BTC0.28 if you live outside of the uk. The item will be shipped by Royal Mail Signed For 2nd Class if you're in the UK and for US customers it will be shipped via Royal Mail Airsure.

2511  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dedicated GPU mining servers ($140 of profit ) on: April 12, 2013, 01:08:27 AM
This is ridiculous. Rent a 300 dollar video card for 300 dollars, make profit?

Why wouldn't you just mine yourself, and KEEP the profit?

I don't understand how this sort of altruism COULDNT be a scam.

Additionally, your prospective client could use the 300 bucks to buy another videocard and slap it into his rig.

What you're literally asking for is "give me 300 dollars and I'll print you 450 dollars. Wow!"

if that was reasonable, at all, you would just print the cash yourself, and keep it.

This doesn't make sense.

The target client is someone who doesn't want to build an entire rig or doesn't have the time to monitor the machine. This thread is more a of a project development thread rather then a final announcement thread so most of the prices will probably be different and the entire project might change into a pay per share style project.
2512  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin USB Wallet in the shape of a Credit Card on: April 12, 2013, 12:10:15 AM
Would you guys mind if the card had my logo on it? I also hope that the poll doesn't stay 50/50 for long.

2513  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dedicated GPU mining servers ($140 of profit ) on: April 11, 2013, 10:51:43 PM

I'm hoping that I can get this started before may.

I am interested (despite the recent value drop in Litecoins). Will you offer a series of deals say price for one month/2/3months?Would you consider very short term rentals of a week or so or is this not in your plans? What overclock rates would you allow? Perhaps by spending time on your rig you could really optomise them far more than a newbie just playing with their own kit

This might even work as a way for people to pay for goods- instead of paying to an exchange they pay for time on your kit (perhaps eventually purchasing 30 cards hash for a day instead of 1 cards hash for 30 days), generate the coins they need and then use that to pay for what they want.

If you need to expand quickly perhaps you could act as an intermediary and rent time on cards from others (like me Wink ) to resell for a slightly higher price.

I'm thinking it might even help get a currency back on it's feet when a currency has been attacked like what happened to TRC recently... supporters could hire out your hash power to get things moving a little.

Seriously I've had loads of thoughts about the whole renting time on rigs plan.... I just don't have the time to implement it as a business.

If you could pm with your ideas so we can discuss them in more detail that would be great. The plan is that later I would expand it into a full Server Rack with at least 24 GPUs and sell shares for the first 60 days as way of kickstarting the rental business.
2514  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: dedicated CPU mining servers on: April 11, 2013, 10:21:23 PM
I am interested too..

Do you happen to have also a gpu rig for rent?

Could be possible (the GPU rigs) but that would be a tad expensive as I'd have to build the system from scratch, as it would have to be Tower (like home PC) based..

You should offer 3x7950 setups for rent, that'd get a lot of people I bet Smiley

I personally would love to offer that with my plans but it would cost at least $200 per month with payment for 6 month upfront.
2515  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin USB Wallet in the shape of a Credit Card on: April 11, 2013, 10:01:57 PM
I like it - once you can show us the actual mock up of the Logo and a price indication, I would be looking at several. 32 G is ok. Shipping cost to US/Canada should not be a big issue. Keep us informed.

I was thinking about using the logo below because it has a very minimalistic design which works in my favor if the community decides that having the   logo engraved onto the card is a better idea then having it screen printed .The manufacture offers these cards in the following capacities 2GB, 4GB, 8GB, 16GB and 32GB so I will definitely try to offer the cards in at least 2 capacities.

Great idea I really like it

I though it was the closest thing we can get to a bitcoin credit card right now.
2518  Bitcoin / Project Development / Bitcoin USB Wallet in the shape of a Credit Card ( 10 year warranty) on: April 11, 2013, 09:35:59 PM
Hi,

I was wondering if the community would be interested in purchasing a usb wallet that has a bitcoin logo either engraved or printed. The usb wallet would be shaped like a credit card. I would need at least 25 people interested because of the minimum order requirement that the manufacture gave me. I'm still waiting for the full quote from the manufacture so I can announce the prices here.

Here is the description and a picture that I received from the manufacture to give you an idea of what the card might look like:

"Alloy USB Card pushes the boundaries of slim design even further. It’s just 2.60mm thick but can be packed with up to 32GB of solid state memory. The stunning metallic finish presents a crisp and professional image and, of course, the Alloy USB Card can be screen printed in colour or engraved if you prefer. With such an elegant modern design, the Alloy USB Card makes for the perfect corporate gift."

The manufacturer is based in the UK so shipping prices to the US might be a issue.

Thanks,

Teka

Can anyone else confirm the evidence that was posted above? If this evidence turns out to be true and it probably is, I wonder if kncminer will say anything to defend themselves.
