Quote

2524  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi's Fortune lower bound is 100M USD on: April 14, 2013, 04:35:27 AM
Seems that Bitcoin is a premine scam if true.

I would like to know if any of those premined blocks where touched in front of major crashes. How can I find an answer for this question?

BS. Bitcoin was published with no pre-mine (except the genesis block which the reward is unspendable). Hal Finney is one of the earliest miners: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=155054.0
2525  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: April 13, 2013, 07:39:53 PM
1. Deposit 1USD to a dummy account
2. Create 10000 bid orders of 0.01BTC at $0.01 slowly (without creating lag)
3. Sell off
4. Rapidly adding new orders to the dummy account
5. The MtG card trading engine is forced to re-evaluate the validity of the 10000 bid orders
6. 30 minutes lag
7. Profit

Does it work?

I'm sure the trading engine wouldn't let a single IP address create that many orders, so it has to be distributed.

Sure, I just make it looks simpler. You need thousands of dummy accounts

2527  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: [Round #4] Help with Armory 0.88 testing! SIGNED 0.87.97 Releases on: April 13, 2013, 05:48:22 PM
The latest release is still not working for me, and the log file is pretty much the same. What can I do?
2528  Economy / Speculation / Re: Highest volume day on record on: April 13, 2013, 01:43:29 AM
I'm really surprised no one notice this: that's because of 0% trading fee
2529  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Discount at bitcoinstore? on: April 12, 2013, 06:57:40 PM
When all major exchanges are trading at about 75, the bitcoinstore exchange rate is 90. That's 20% discount. How could they do that?

And I really feel sorry for all bitcoin merchants like bitcoinstore and bitpay. They were operating blindly when mtgox was down for 12 hours, and took huge risk in the extremely volatile market.
2530  Economy / Speculation / Re: IT STILL ISN'T BACK TO "NORMAL"! on: April 12, 2013, 06:36:53 PM
We are just entering the awareness phase.   Nine hundred and ninety nine out if one thousand people have no idea what Bitcoin is and the media is just starting to cluelessly report it.  We will be in the mania phase when taxi drivers are boasting of bitcoin profits and the media are praising it as stupidly as they dismiss it now.

When Jim Cramer says Bitcoin is a buy buy buy, then I will know we are in the mania phase.

FTFY
2531  Economy / Speculation / Re: Looks like dumping is over ? so 60-80 range will hold on: April 12, 2013, 06:29:47 PM
For the first time in days, it looks like it's stabilized. Though, "stabilized".

After the first crash back in 2011 it "stabilized" to 20$ for days...

We may have another 2011 story without the gox hack.
2532  Economy / Speculation / Re: Looks like dumping is over ? so 60-80 range will hold on: April 12, 2013, 06:24:17 PM
I really hope it stay at 75 for weeks, or even months, like what we did in 5 and 13. In that case, the next bull run will take us to 1000.
2533  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: ArmoryX (colored coins): issue and trade private currencies/stocks/bonds/etc on: April 12, 2013, 06:09:47 PM
With the recent never ending DDOS events, I think we need a decentralised exchange based on colored coin

The only centralized part is a colored coin issuer. It acts as fiat currency clearinghouse through wire transfer or with other electronic currency, and collect service charge during the process. Since it does not need to maintain a trading engine like mtgox, the running cost is minimal.

For users, transaction fee is only 0-0.5mBTC, no matter the size of the trade.

Most importantly, DDOS is impossible. People can trade as long as bitcoin is functional (and there is no point to trade bitcoin if the network is not functional)

But there is a big problem: the users have to sign the transaction manually. If fully automated trading is desired, users need to keep a daemon running and leave their BTC and colored coins in a hot wallet.

If this is workable, I may try to establish one.

Any idea?
2534  Economy / Speculation / Re: arepo's easy TA on: April 12, 2013, 04:10:33 AM
I do write-ups about my models after my models have been exhausted (public predictions can create complications)

context.

i meant that this was an after-the-fact writeup, not a prediction.

What is the merit of TA if it is not used for prediction? You can always find this and that pattern by digging historical data
2535  Economy / Speculation / Re: [Poll] The next big exchange on: April 12, 2013, 03:59:53 AM
None of these.

All existing exchanges actually perform WORSE than mtgox. They were looking good simply because they had very low volume.

Before we have a more decentralised solution (e.g. Ripple), we need a new and really professional exchange, possibly running by existing traditional currency exchange platform.
2536  Economy / Speculation / Re: arepo's easy TA on: April 12, 2013, 03:22:32 AM
His last call of "bubble top" was on 7 Mar when the price was about $49: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=147549.msg1594116#msg1594116 . And he went completely silent since 10 Mar. We all knew what happened since then.

People followed him are still losing money.

Follow him at your own risk.
2537  Economy / Speculation / Re: arepo's easy TA on: April 12, 2013, 03:15:43 AM
absolutely hindsight. This guy has been silent since 10 Mar and said nothing until the crash happened.
2538  Economy / Speculation / Re: MtGox is not clearing my wire as fast as normal on: April 12, 2013, 01:55:04 AM
Cleared right before they reopen. I expect that is true for many people. Ready for a rally!
2539  Economy / Exchanges / Re: BTC-E.com exchange Bitcoin, Litecoin, Namecoin <-> USD\BTC (fee 0.2%) on: April 11, 2013, 05:52:46 PM
Oh my god. To get support service now, you need to register with btcecom.freshdesk.com.

I use

Code:

in my adblockplus addon to block unencrypted content. I use

Code:

to block all unencrypted content on all https enabled sites that I use.

Warning to all:

Google recaptcha breaks encryption on btcecom.freshdesk.com, exposing your email and password over online.

To use google recaptcha, my http blocking code must be disabled, I refuse to register @ btcecom.freshdesk.com until this is fixed.

This is completely unexceptionable.

No wonder account are being hacked, probably because of this new bs helpdesk crap with broken encryption over online.

The fees and now this.

I paid my .5 and withdrawn my ltc from btc-e.com. I suggest you all do the same, pull out now before its too late.

Why don't you use google/facebook/twitter login? You don't need to register a new account there
2540  Economy / Speculation / Re: Feels good man on: April 11, 2013, 05:43:30 PM
I don't understand, anyone care to explain?

I you don't understand this, you don't understand how bitcoin works.

The OP has some secret information but he doesn't want to reveal it at this moment. However, the hash will proof that he holds the secret at this moment.
