2541  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: What catalyst and sdk drivers are you using for 7970 (windows) on: April 12, 2013, 06:58:49 PM
Hi guys, I am new to mining and just trying to catch up with all those technicalities so forgive me if I am talking nonsense Smiley

I put my AMD Radeon HD 7970 into just normal DELL Win 7 64 bit and I am using GUIMiner wtih -v -w 128 flags

My worry is that my card is running too high temperatures with fen working at about 100%. I underclocked it even but still the temps worry me. In Catalist I see

Activity: 98%
GPU clock: 895 MHz
mem clock: 1240 MHz
Power: 0%
Temp: 76 C
Fan Speed: 98 %

When I set to default (not using any tuning) my card hits t0 80+ C so I underclocked. But again, I don't know how to properly tune all those parameters, so any pointers would be awesome.

Thanks!

Anything in the 80Cs is OK for mining for 1 year.  After 3 years at 80C it may be a problem.  Try undervolting it or clocking the memory down, that should help temps a lot.   I try to keep the fan under 65% if possible.

Yeah I'm still trying to get my dad to toss the Sony 13" (I think it may be B&W).  The feature on that TV was it had push buttons so you could pre-program the tuning of the station.  That thing is older than me  Tongue

How can you be expected to host a group buy when you're not sure how to check a wallet?

2545  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Chatbans on BTC-E on: April 12, 2013, 09:24:53 AM
Or maybe this guy is a troll... Has that crossed anyone's mind

So they banned a Troll in the Troll-box?  If they kept that up then they would just have a box.

Of course with a box you could always add some Fans!  Tongue
2546  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Chatbans on BTC-E on: April 12, 2013, 09:15:08 AM
It seems that there is a rather arbitrary system of administration on the chat for BTC-E, to the point that educating people in real time isn't allowed.

Don't waste your time, the people on the "troll box" has cash and want to buy coins, so you always find phrases like "It's falling, sell sell sell". They are not fools, they make fools.

And the rules of the chat are on: https://btc-e.com/page/1 (clicking on "terms").

They promote the Troll-box because it just adds to their bottom line.  It actually attracts "people" - trolls I guess.  Some people like that nonsense.
2547  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: My Bitcoin Bet if BTC hits $140 today I'm getting engaged tomorrow on: April 12, 2013, 09:07:49 AM

Haha, damned if you do....either way  Cheesy

Congrats!  If you're lucky like me you'll find a sugar momma.
2548  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: For me MtGox is Dead, where shoud I adquire Bitcoins? on: April 12, 2013, 09:05:53 AM
I know Gox sucks but for us fools here in the US we have limited options.

I just moved some funds from my bank account to Dwolla - won't get there until mid next week.  Are they still as backlogged as last year.  Would I be able to possibly get the dwolla into Gox by maybe next Friday?
2549  Other / Off-topic / Re: AMD Reportedly Launching Radeon HD 7990 April 22, 2013. on: April 12, 2013, 08:54:48 AM

2550  Other / Off-topic / Re: Help me raise funds of 7 BTC on: April 12, 2013, 08:53:38 AM
Americans will pay all kinds of crazy money for imported stuff.  You just need to figure out something cheap to ship.  Spices would work as long as it goes through customs.  Grow your own stuff.

2552  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Who else from Avalon batch 1 hasn't received a unit or shipping information? on: April 12, 2013, 07:55:56 AM
I received another 5 units today. Which puts me at exactly 1/2 of my total order.
Avalon is not a scam or any such thing, I just think Chinese customs is very slow and it takes time to get all of the boxes out of the country.

Avalon we love you Smiley

was that all from batch 1?

no

 Shocked Shocked Shocked

I think he meant to ask were all units that arrived ordered in Batch 1?  He was not asking did you receive all your Batch 1 units.

Because you said no, it would mean another Batch has shipped  Shocked

Try oiling the fan.
2554  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GUIMiner-scrypt: A GUIMiner fork for mining scrypt chains on: April 12, 2013, 07:45:52 AM
Looking forward to v0.04. GUIMiner-scrypt has helped a newbie like me stay away from the console.

Might the next version include checkboxes for:
--auto-fan
--auto-gpu

As I'm concerned I'm running my cards too hot. 99C and 100% fan. Or is that expected? (2x 7950s)

Good God.  Either undervolt, throttle back the clocks, lower intensity or remove a card.  You'll lose more money waiting on an RMA than you will with 20% less hash.

CGMiner/Diablominer/BFGMiner/Phoenix/kernal have all been pushed as far as they will go.  Mining hashrates have not improved in the last 6 months.  At this point Hardware (ASIC) is where it is at.
