what is this ? Needed?

It's a mining pool on the miner config screen.  It's only needed if you plan to mine to that pool.  Unsure exactly what you're asking.
2542  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER U3 Discussion and Support Thread on: April 20, 2015, 05:39:53 PM
Hi

I'm trying to make my U3 to work but it just won't.

Can anyone please tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Your screen cap shows it mining at 63gh, what's the problem?

Adjust the difficulty for your pool and you won't get the "shares above target" message.

I just saw i could rent about 125ghs for around $54 for 4 months not a bad lotto ticket.

You could buy a used S1 for about that and have 200ghs for as long as you want.  I'll sell you one + psu if interested.

All shares submitted does is shows the pool you are working to solve the block.  The number submitted has to do with the difficulty you are mining to the pool at.  It has nothing to do with the odds of solving a block.

Weird, my lastupdate and bestshare #'s don't seem to be changing, even though I've been sending more than usual TH to it.
Bestshare not changing is normal unless you're finding better shares. But lastupdate not changing means the pool is not acknowledging you are mining to that address -- it should update once per minute. The pool itself appears to be working fine. Check that you're actually looking at the stats of the address you are supposed to be mining to.

Ok cool, someone a couple pages back mentioned it was reporting best share per block.  It matches what my machine says, too.  My lastupdate is current, it changes every minute.  All's good.  Grin

If the trends continues, this one should be up.  But with summer in the northern hemisphere starting, we could aslo be seeing the beginning of a downturn.  Waiting for 300 blocks is a good idea, no reason to jump the gun.

My bestshare has been showing the same number for two days now also...
2549  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Newest Diff thread April 5 to April 18th on: April 18, 2015, 05:54:45 AM
My guess is if price were to jump to 1000 usd or better yet 2000 usd we would see insane growth I am not to sure what is best for the coin. Have to wait it out.

I don't think we'll see prices like that for like two more halvings; but since the number of block reward coins then will be 6.25, at $1000/BTC a block would still be worth basically the same in 8 years as it is today.

Experienced a glitch tonight and not sure if it was cryptoGlance that caused it, but here's what happened.

I checked in on my miners with the android app from work this afternoon and notice that "one" miner (more than one device, it's a laptop with 5 USB miners: 4x nanofury sticks and a U3) had over 200 of the little grayed out devices.  For some reason the 4 nanofury sticks kept reseting and creating new devices, so I went to manage and restarted the miner to see if that would fix it.  It did not, so I called home and had my wife unplug the usb hub that the 4 sticks were in.  When I got home the cgminer on the laptop that controls these miners would not respond to any command, it didn't respond to any key strokes.  It was running fine, the U3 chugging along, but I had to force the command line closed.  Then I power cycled my usb miners and restarted everything just fine.

I'm curious if the remote miner restart would have caused cgminer to become non-responsive?  It's possible whatever was causing the sticks to reset over and over was actually what made cgminer unresponsive, but just thought I'd toss this out there in case.

Careful with your settings at max frequency and 835 volt (850 is max), you're redlining that little machine and it will burn out sooner at that rate.
2552  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 0.5% fee anonymous solo bitcoin mining! 36 blocks solved! on: April 18, 2015, 03:21:22 AM

Still not quite the kinda win that allows you to walk into your bosses office, and say "Take this Job and Shove it".  Smiley
No, probably not... but certainly one that allows you to walk into the boss's office and say, "I'm taking a week's vacation to the islands!"

Exactly..the wife and I are planning a much needed vacation now!

That's funny, because every time my wife complains how hot it is in my home office I tell her she won't be complaining when we're on the beach in Hawaii.  Cool
2553  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you assume Satoshi was a Male? on: April 17, 2015, 11:03:37 PM
I've been reading "Book of Satoshi", a collection of almost all of Satoshi's online writings.  I've come to the conclusion and am 100% convinced that Satoshi is not/was not a singular person.  When you start seeing all of the potential issues that people brought up and how Satoshi thought of everything (not literally, but come on, basically everything) then you have to wonder how one person could have done it.  You need a team of people to sit around and bounce things off each other. It doesn't need to be a big team, 3 or 5 people would probably do it, but the initial project has all the signs of a collaborative effort.
2554  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: s3 problem , why moving ? on: April 17, 2015, 10:56:17 PM

On kano it is nice with supporting a dev.  But your payout varies with being on a small pool.

On a big pool you will have a more constant daily earnings.  Overall they should all equal the same, but it is noticeable if not solving blocks.

True, but on a big pool you will also be paid less for each block since there are so many more users mining to it.  I'm a fan of supporting "the little guys", I'd rather see the pool fees going to folk like Kano and Ck than some Chinese conglomerate.
2555  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 0.5% fee anonymous solo bitcoin mining! 36 blocks solved! on: April 17, 2015, 10:50:09 PM
727miner... holy freaking lord almighty... you hit the lottery again!

Ok..true story..now my co-workers think I'm nuts (just stood up in cubicle-ville and yelled holy f-in shit!  Shocked)

This is crazy!!

That is unbelieveable, literally odds defying.  To hit one block solo is a long shot, to hit two solo is a longlong shot, but two solo in less than 24 hours?  There is no word for those odds.  Congrats.  Was this rented hash again?
2556  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 0.5% fee anonymous solo bitcoin mining! 32 blocks solved! on: April 17, 2015, 05:22:56 PM

the bestshare counter resets every time to zero if a block is found by the solo pool.

here is the post from ck where he explain the bestshare for the stats page.....
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=763510.msg10210589#msg10210589

---snip---

Also everyone's bestshare stats will reset on finding a block.

---snap---

Cool, thanks for the explanation and link, I figured it was something like that.

So, I'm driving into work today and my phone goes off and I see this:

Way cool!  Hope we all get a chance to see that at least once.
2557  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 0.5% fee anonymous solo bitcoin mining! 32 blocks solved! on: April 17, 2015, 01:04:54 PM

Thank you both again.  I managed to get everything installed and working more or less; my last update time displays as a negative number though.  Actually, it always displays about -5 29, everything updates as it should, but the time just sits at the negative value.  Any idea what I could have messed up?

I modified the script with a unixtime stamp converter to show the lastupdate correct and i modified the layout for me.

Modified Script Download: solo-mining-stats-new.zip

Is the best share it displays just from the last block?  Some times the best share in my display goes down, so that's the only explanation I can come up with.

Congrats, lots of solo blocks falling lately.

2) If 1 doesn't work, Navigate to: C:\cryptroglance\application\. If there is an "update" folder, delete it and try to run the update again.

My account is admin, but #2 did the trick.  2.1 beta up and running, thank you!
Great! That bug is actually fixed in the beta you're running, this should not be an issue in the future Smiley

Cool, good to hear.

One comment on the interface.  I use the tile layout, and the summary window at the bottom of each panel ends up with a scroll bar.  I scroll it all the way to the right so I can see error %.  As the display updates, the window slowly pans back to the left on its own.  I was thinking maybe eliminate the "chip" icon from the summary pane at the bottom of each window, including Overview.  They're (the chips) not really necessary and that would make that info narrower and maybe not require panning over.  The self panning to the left may be a moot issue then, or you may look into it anyway.  Smiley
