This is wishful thinking for me to be honest, but it seems that Dune has some chances, and that is quite amazing taking into account that there are at least a couple of movies about it and at least one extraordinary mini-series. I just love science fiction and I think that an Oscar given to a science fiction classic may result in more interest from the Hollywood producers to engage into further production.
2583  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Slots 101: Basics, Strategies, and Discussion (with poll) on: February 28, 2022, 09:23:50 PM
I feel like I have problems with emotions and control when I lose at gambling, It happens before, when I played dice at Freebit, but at that time I could control it, compared to yesterday when I played starlight, it was really different, I deposited few times in one night.
The dopamine you get from slots cannot be compared with other games. It is called "the crack cocaine of gambling" for that reason. That's why old timers here are very cautious of the negative effect of slots, thus you should do it in moderation.

I think you are right, part of the case for having a strategy to play slots includes the psychologic aspects and knowing yourself well enough to enjoy the game fully and get the "up-push" without then getting the hangover if things are going not going well enough. This is also a strategy, but not as much intended to always win but rather to make sure that you always have fun.
2584  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What will be the next big industry move? on: February 28, 2022, 09:14:54 PM
Meta is already here with us, it doesnt have to actually be 3D or virtual world just digital economy items that only exist within the sphere of that game or universe construct that is a real thing now.   I was making sports bets using meta items back in 2014 onwards so its certainly a very in demand thing for similar reasons to why crypto is so in demand globally, we have very weak currencies and its not hard even for a virtual worth Meta item to have the value that can involve gambling on game outcomes of sports or casino etc.
It will be a thing, Ive done very similar type activities and it was so popular the game maker feared the gambling business was taking over their game, lots of demand for sure.

Meta is likely to unify all these different upcoming trends into what is called a mega-app that is useful for all purposes such as buying, transfering, saving, booking hotels and flights,... and certainly gaming. This is a once in a lifetime bet by Zucky and is putting a shit-ton of money into it, so it may actually succeed and eventually also change the gaming industry itself that would become less "hardware" and more software.
2585  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2020/21 on: February 28, 2022, 09:07:22 PM
Yea Barcelona is truly coming back to form to form, but topping Sevilla in the Spanish league table ranking will be a difficult feat, because Sevilla is doing well too and are already topping Barcelona with more than eight points,In Atletico Madrid case I think they can overtake real betis for the 4th position they have a better manager with good experience and a better squad than real betis
Sevilla are still 9 points ahead of Barcelona. Looking at it in the points table, it may seem almost impossible for Barcelona to move to second place in the table. But I don't think it's impossible. Because Barcelona is in the truck now.
Sevilla have scored 9 points in the last 5 matches, while Barcelona have scored 13 points in the last 5 matches. Sevilla are not a very strong team. They will lose points in the upcomming matches. If Barcelona can maintain the continuity, they will be able to come in second place in the table.

I agree with you somewhat. I don't like Sevilla's gameplay. If they had hoped for a title, their performance would have been more stable and strong. They may have lost just two matches this season. But they have drawn in 9 matches. The match has even drawn with many weaker teams. Moreover, they are having enough problems to score goals. The Barcelona forward, on the other hand, now seems to me to be La Liga's best forward. They are playing great and scoring goals in almost every match.

They are effective that is all. Some of the best known teams a national teams in the world are know to be mostly game destroyers rather than brilliant football making stars. Sevilla is still worth watching, nothing to do with other styles such as the traditional Italian gameplay of freezing the game, delaying tactics and all the usual tactical faults and game control when winning.
2586  Economy / Gambling / Re: Would you support a collective boycott of all Russian gambling platforms? on: February 28, 2022, 09:03:54 PM
Certainly, I think that we cannot help Putin's finances in any possible way. This includes using products that pay tax or benefit the Putin's economy nor allow for the financing of the aggression towards the Ukrainian people. This has gone to far and I appreciate both initiatives that prevent the earnings and those that support the resistance versus an illegal war waged by a despot on a democracy (as imperfect as it may be).
2587  Economy / Economics / Re: UKraine-Russian War is affecting Football Economy. on: February 28, 2022, 08:58:55 PM
I would like to correct the wording -this is not an Ukraine -Russia war, this is an aggressive invasion of Ukraine by order of Vladimir Putin. Most Russians did not get a say on this.

Now, the football is linked to the global economy and it is a leisure activity, which traditionally suffers when practically anything out of the ordinary happens: terrorist attacks, wars, natural catastrophes,... that is how it works so no surprise.

2588  Economy / Economics / Re: Russia - Ukraine war - Exchanges needed for sanctioning on: February 28, 2022, 01:59:22 PM
My take is that US or EU could potentially activate that measure. In that case, the exchanges would need to either comply fully or decide to opt out of the regulations. In the later case, they will be banned from operating in US and EU plus many other countries.

It is no joke to face the consequences of an US ban or sanction, thus exchanges may be forced to decide which side is best. Hint: the level of business in the West is higher in general.
2589  Economy / Economics / Re: This shows Putin got the costs of aggression wrong on: February 28, 2022, 01:48:01 PM
Russian government will face a heavy consequence for the war. EU has already announced to cut Russia off from the Swify network, crase all assets of Russian central bank that is help with ECB, ban Russia Oligarchs from carrying out businesses in EU.

Putin has gone mad and Russian common people will pay the price  a lot of foreign companies will leave Russia for good. The consequence will be severe for Russia.

But on the other hand, Russian elites laugh at the sanctions, which can actually make it easier for them to move freely using cryptocurrencies. they were cut off from Swify and other sanctions followed for Russia actions. However, there are positive points for Russia to use Cryptocurrencies as a means of payment and transactions without the need for capitalist intervention, both Russian banks blocked by Francis, UK, and several local banks which are currently closed after the Russian invasion.

Here too, the digital yuan is ready to be a back-up for Russia in carrying out future economic movements and is ready to encourage Russia to continue fighting NATO countries that try to criticize Russia's actions. For one thing, the mainstream media can distort the facts, because we don't really know what's really going on between Russia and Ukraine. There is even video footage engineered by the President of Ukraine and the BBC to carry out propaganda.

Russian media is also closed by Facebook, as a sanction, criticism of NATO countries also does not stop in the name of humanity. I wonder if this context extends to Palestine, where Israel is still allowed by the UN to carry out its heinous acts. If it is true that NATO and UN members want to stop the invasion, they should apologize to the 2x24 media that the US foster child, Israel, should take precedence over criticizing Russia's actions. Where does the actual reaction take place? Or just the politics of diversion of issues? fry Russia, then put humanity first in Palestine just sinking?

So, the Oligarchs are laughing at having to buy the marvellous rubles with their weak and poor USD and Euros? R u sure?
So Putin and friends are just going to use bitcoin and bypass all the modern world banking system?
An lastly, he and his friends are counting on China helping them... for free? Have you seen China do any favours to anyone for free?

Nope, propaganda and social media can say whatever, but the markets put their money only where there's something to win and that is not the ruble.

Grin

Does it mean that next time you feel discriminated in public you will take out your gun and start shooting people?

Let's say the world functions like your tiny brain and we live in your utopia. I can make you a list of all the people that feel discriminated. For instance, BLM in USA, Native Americans, the Roma, LGBT, I'm sure in their minds pedophiles also feel discriminated... We'd be facing armed combat every day going to a store, driving to work, getting our kids to school. Literally you wouldn't be able to take a shit without worrying that you might end up being shot. Is that how the world should look like?

I feel like you're offending me. Tell me where you live I'll come with some friends and we'll burn your place.

I understand you are just being sarcastic, but formally, you cannot threaten physical violence in the forum. Tongue

completely one sided nonsense, putin never was aggressive against ukranians he is a human rights warrior, zelinski is the criminal

He killed more than 14,000 since 2014.

He is responsible for firing rockets at Ukrainian apartment buildings right now.

Are you in denial?  Just use the search bar on youtube.

He will be arrested and be brought to Hague unless Russians execute him first.

the war escalated and became bloody the moment ukranians defended Zelinski.

the russian occupation force never where prepared for that much resistance the leftist media we are used in the west never neutrally explaind how financially discriminated the russians ind the russian east where in ukraine.

if you are not part of the inner circle of the Illuminati that installed Putin, you will always have doubts, the woke left maniacs now go insane.

Ok, let me see if I can make you see it in a different way: Let's say that Ukraine is not happy with Putin because they consider him a despot, nearly a Tzar, that imprisons political enemies, is threatening with a nuclear response, and bullying democracies such as Finland and Sweden into not choosing their own paths.

Now, Ukraine sends troops to Moscow and they expect the Russians to accept them as saviours and expects them to get rid of Putin and de-militarise as soon as they see an Ukrainian soldier waving their hand at them.

Would you then consider that Ukraine is being aggressive and delusional??

And by the way, how attacking Kyev is helping the people in Donbas? If that were the objective a limited offensive (much less costly to the Russian people) would have been simpler, more effective and perhaps with a chance of success?

Russia will force companies to sell 80% of their foreign currency earnings - in other words buy rubles - Finance Ministry announces

This means that Putin is forcing Russian companies to buy rubles to avoid a free fall. This is normally done by central banks when their currency is under attack - the problem being is that when you need all your treasury to keep the invasion running, you cannot protect your currency. I wonder if the Russian oligarchs are having second thoughts on supporting this guy any longer?

2593  Economy / Economics / Re: War requires three things on: February 28, 2022, 11:27:20 AM

My question to the forum is how does Putin intend to make the war of aggression against Ukraine be eventually profitable?

Not profitable, but with their country's security he is willing to even spend more for it.
If Putin doesn't act today, Ukraine might become a member of NATO and Russia badly does not want that to happen. You don't want your enemy sit near close to your border. That logic alone is already a threat for their national security.

I think nobody is profiting on this war, even we are affected when the oil stars to rise

That "your enemy" thinking is what really started this aggression by Putin. Russia is not communist, is no longer the URSS and has developed strong economic ties with the West and the East. The yachts of the Russian elite sail and dock in Marbella while they enjoy the capitalist system of the US, the international trade and even own Football clubs in UK.

What is this madness of "the enemy"? Russia without Putin would now be a great global player benefiting from trade and sharing wealth. This is more about egomania rather than Realpolitik.
2594  Economy / Economics / Re: Inflation hits Russia on: February 28, 2022, 11:20:58 AM
I believed that in the worst case, Russia would intervene in eastern Ukraine and perhaps only expand the occupied territories to create a larger pro-Russian zone - and that this would take several days due to the military strength of the Russian army. Unfortunately, this is no longer a military conflict but an open war aimed at occupying Ukraine, and according to their leader, some other countries will be next in line if they try to join NATO.

The EU depends on Russia, especially for gas - but will have to look for an alternative if it wants to be consistent in the sanctions against it. It is a bit hypocritical that it was announced a few days ago that the amount of gas will even be increased towards the EU, which means that the money is going in the opposite direction - on the one hand, we have sanctions, on the other hand, the EU finances Russian military machinery by buying Russian gas.

I always thought that it was a mistake to enter in such a dependency from Russia. It is an unreliable supplier at best and has a history of going mostly against western Europe interests. Nevertheless, there are not that many Gas producing countries you can choose from and it is very efficient to move gas via a pipe rather than having to liquate transport by ship and then re-gas.

This war of aggression by Putin will serve Europe to make sure they consider carefully the future energetic mix, supply chains and may also bring neutral countries into the NATO rather than the opposite.

Yet there are tank columns advancing towards the cities in Ukraine, missiles impacting in the cities buildings, captured soldiers, images of tanks invading... But in your unbiased and considered opinion that is not "aggressive". I am not sure if you have not seen any of these because you are so used to Russia Today version or you are just in denial of what is happening here.

2598  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: February 27, 2022, 09:52:26 PM
Putin's invasion of Ukraine is impossible to predict. The only certainty is that the situation is escalating rapidly and will likely become even messier before it improves. Even if he succeeds in taking over Ukraine, he just set in motion a chain reaction that will strengthen NATO to levels it has never seen before. He can continue to wreak havoc inside Ukraine, but it seems he signed his own "death warrant", and most likely his own regime will try to get rid of him.

But Putin is causing Ukraine a great deal of suffering, which I worry about more than the political or economic impact. My main concern is for the people of Ukraine, because it is likely they will suffer the most from a prolonged war that won't end anytime soon. As I write this, I keep wondering how much longer the people in Ukraine can possibly withstand the pressure the Russian army is putting on them. I pray for the people of Ukraine.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NPxAVzP-O3c

Russian soldiers are being killed by a truckload. That is why Putin wants to 'negotiate'.

More Russian soldiers were killed so far than in the early days of the war in Afghanistan.

https://twitter.com/MFA_Ukraine/status/1497983902614315008

I wish I could believe this, but it is not the case. Putin can still afford quite a few casualties and what he calls "negotiating" in his mind is "negotiating the terms of the surrender" which seems to be well away from what Ukraine is willing to accept.

This war of aggression is going to get messy and bloody. Putin will lay siege to cities, use artillery to avoid losses, destroy infrastructure and cut out supplies to send Ukraine back to the middle ages. Yet Ukraine will hold and aim to cause an unacceptable level of losses or a cost that will make Russians consider other options.

To surrender to Russia means that they have lost sovereignty to Russia and then they will subject to Russian again and the Ukrainians don't want that. They want to stand with their president and they have already started to volunteer themselves for army and fight Russia. I think this war might turn into something that will bring confusion in the world. Time may come when some countries, the Russian enemies will develop sympathy for Ukraine.

Which would had be wiser though, dialogue peacefully so as to avoid the loss of lives of your citizens or go into war. Lets be realistic, do we think Ukraine can fight Russia, we all know the answer to that and that's a no. Russia aren't even fighting Ukraine because if they were to, they could have easily burnt down Ukraine by now. They're only testing the patience of the NATO countries, using Ukraine as bait and also US and other NATO knows this.

Hopefully this doesn't pass this level and both nations can come to an agreement quick enough. I wouldn't mind surrending and just try to make peace even though I would be looking like a coward doing do. The life of my citizens should be precious to me than any ambition. The Russian enemies you speak about knows Russia is waiting on them and don't mind losing life and properties for this. If you were to be in position of the said enemies, will you risk it all knowing you would record tremendous casualties.

Do you understand that if Ukraine surrenders they will be vassals of Putin? Do you understand that they are fighting for their right to decide their own future and the possibility of having a free country? It is pretty much becoming a slave to the Russians and loosing any chance of choosing their future path by themselves.

What short of respect and peace will they ever have if they negotiate a surrender?

Wars of conquest are always to take advantage of other countries and favour your own. Ukrainians have lived in liberty for too long to accept a Tzar or even worse, a Putin.
