2581  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Trying to avoid a possible mess on: August 29, 2022, 11:31:29 PM
Dust and grease can cause micro shorts. So a good cleaning of everything with 99% alcohol every six months can help odd drop outs.

Summer heat also brings humidity issues. which can compound this.

Every 3months is I think the best depending on the humidity and room dust and also depends on how you maintain them.  Not all alcohol will be effective on cleaning board you need 99% or 100% isopropyl alcohol but for me, alcohol is pretty expensive so I need alternatives like thinner lacquer flo which is best for cleaning board, and Lighter fluid is also an alternative option but I stay using thinner for cleaning any board it removes rust and hard dust easily.

Then you can use compressed air to remove dust every month as your monthly maintenance without disassembling units.
2582  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain.info iOS app: can't send / receive without verification on: August 29, 2022, 11:00:09 PM
So Blockchain.info/com wallet now requires you to get your account verified (but only in order to do currency exchanges, bank account transactions etc)
However I noticed that in their mobile app it became impossible to send or receive the payment without this verification

Actually, they are not wallets they are turning into exchanges not worth having a wallet that asks for KYC. There are lots of issues with blockchain wallets there are many people who were hacked before but blockchain didn't know the reasons and also there are lots of scammers who use blockchain wallets before you can use the search button above to find those threads.

If I were you better not use their wallet and switch to other non-custodial wallets like other said Electrum or build your own airgap or offline wallet.
2583  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Which miner to choose if you dont care about efficiency? on: August 29, 2022, 10:46:14 PM
I guess im mostly worried about buying a series with bad reputation. For example, s9 series was indestructible but s9k was awful, also s17 series had a bad rep. Are there any models/series of miners  nowadays that have a high failure rate and should be avoided?

You already mention what are those units with bad reputations and actually, most of the high failure rates are s17 and t17 series mostly loose heatsink and short circuit are the reasons why they get high failure rates.

I think fewer failure rates are s19 but I can't confirm because Bitmain produces s17/t17 more than the s19 series.
2584  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Which miner to choose if you dont care about efficiency? on: August 27, 2022, 11:59:21 PM
If you don't care about the power source or if it's free then Check Canaan they offer discounts their units are power hungry but almost all of their units are pretty cheap.
You can also wait for the next wave about t19 in Bitmain which offers a cheap price.

Also, use this tool to find those units with possible big profitability just change your electricity rate to 0

2585  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer T19 84T from bitmain on: August 27, 2022, 11:41:37 PM
Well then it seems like it was a good deal. It is in general at the moment very good to buy miners, at least if you believe that bitcoin can recover longterm. If you are lucky and pay the miners in BTC than you can even buy back the BTC with fiat in a few days/weeks for a discount.
Actually, no one knows if the price of Bitcoin will stay stable at $20k or if it will recover in the long term but there is a strong support at $20k so there is a big possibility after a few months it will increase.

About the discount deal maybe November is a good time to buy(BlackFriday and CyberMonday)?

Canaan also has many discounts their units are very cheap nowadays look here https://shop.canaan.io/products/ It would be also a good deal.
2586  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin market only surviving picture taken 11 years ago today! on: August 26, 2022, 11:55:19 PM
What is BM under BTC?
I couldn't imagine how cheap the Bitcoin price was before 48.6BTC for $10 how lucky they are if they still have this Bitcoin on their old PC. If I'm a time traveler maybe I'll go back to that time then buy $100 of BTCs and go back today or If I'm the one who bought that 48BTC I'm sure I already sold it last 2017 because that was the time when the price of Bitcoin reach nearly $20k and then buy again at the dip and sold them all last year.
2587  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: I Know this is scam but I don't know how they go about it. on: August 26, 2022, 11:28:10 PM
Did anyone here knows how this scammer steal coins from people with this kind of trick?

There are lots of them reported here and it is not just on Twitter you can also receive them in some telegram groups, Discord, and Email.

What they did was pretend they have USDT on their account as ERC20 or TRC20 or any token-based and luring you to deposit any amount for the fee to transfer the token but in the end, after you deposit it will automatically transfer to another address that you didn't own.
Most of the people who are trapped by this trick are greedy newbies. Always ignore these messages if you encounter such messages it's obvious scam.
2588  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Preev.com Alternatives? on: August 26, 2022, 11:13:58 PM
Have you checked Preev.net which is already posted here on the forum and it is still under development I guess?

You can find the thread here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5411037.0

Don't forget google SERP also has its own just use the keyword "bitcoin price" and it should show the current price of Bitcoin. Coingecko and Coinmarketcap are also good alternatives.
2589  Other / Off-topic / Re: LastPass - Notice of Recent Security Incident on: August 26, 2022, 03:22:36 PM
I never trust any of these extensions in my browser to auto-fill all sites that I always visit. If you have some sites that involve money always memorize your password because it's not safe if you let your password save to a plugin/extension like Lastpass I never trust any of these memorizing them is always safe.

If your reason is that you forgot the password why not make a backup by writing them on a piece of paper and put it in your wallet or anywhere safe? actually, most of the websites right now have "forgot password recovery" where you can able to reset your password through SMS or email verification so it won't be a problem if you forgot the password.
2590  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Narlybit a scam? on: August 26, 2022, 02:44:35 PM
Newly registered domains always have a big risk I don't know what exactly the website is but it looks like another HYIP but most of them are scam.

I was trying to access the website but my AV wouldn't allow me to access  the website due to data leakage. Look at the image below as a proof

It means that the website is a scam and you shouldn't trust them and actually, no one will give you free money I'm sure this is another HYIP that you need to deposit before you can able to withdraw but the fact after you deposit you can't be able to withdraw.
2591  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin Core Client: Error opening block database on: August 25, 2022, 11:33:27 PM
Thank you for the numerous list of suggestions of other things for me to investigate (rather than asking for assistance with the bitcoin core client here.)

My PC has 6 Gb of RAM, it does have a SSD (which all programs, including the Bitcoin Core, run from), the OS is Windows 7.  The NAS works fine with all the other devices connected to it.  Someday I guess I will benchmark it in my spare time.

It seems the specs are fine but you didn't mention other specs like CPU and if you are using 32bit or 64bit I have experienced before when using Bitcoin core with 32bit which is too buggy and can't able to use it.
Anyway, have you recently force to shut down your PC without closing Bitcoin core while syncing? It will always end up with data corruption if you didn't properly shut down your core.

The logs are suggesting to use -reindex it must be work but since you already tried it how did you perform -reindex?
Did you edit the bitcoin core shortcut under target add -reindex? Or you run bitcoin core through command prompt with -reindex?

Adding this if you are using 32bit read this https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5139689.msg50915664#msg50915664 posted by Achow101 you might need to build a 32bit one to make your core work properly.
2592  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: BiXBiT Dev custom ASIC Whatsminer firmwares: optimize performance & efficiency on: August 25, 2022, 10:56:57 PM
Thank you for your message.
Please help contact a bitcointalk forum moderator or admin. (Mining software )

We wants to develop this theme on bitcointalk.

If you talking about the theme of this forum no they are not looking for theme developers. We want this forum simple.

Do you have any issues with the theme? Or are you talking about the image you posted above that ended up "image proxy invalid image"?
If you talking about the image then I suggest you use imgur.com to upload your images it works well when you post imgur.com images here or if you have a problem with the theme then bring your issue to this section Meta>New forum software Because this is a mining section that only talks about Bitcoin mining.
2593  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Backpack Bitcoin Mining Machine on: August 25, 2022, 10:50:49 PM
I'm sure this image is edited or someone just created it for fun because no one can withstand lifting a mining machine and battery for 24hrs. And I'm sure this is not profitable you are just going to waste your money with this bag pack.

It would be better if it's a USB stick miner like NotFuzzyWarm said above the weight of a USB stick is around 0.05kg, unlike a mining machine like s9 with a weight of around 5 to 6kg plus the battery weight which is heavy I can't endure bringing them anywhere. If you want a lightweight USB stick, raspi, and portable power bank would be enough to bring them anywhere without getting tired.
2594  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is trading gambling in another form? on: August 25, 2022, 02:46:51 PM
Actually, trading is not too risky as gambling except if you are trading on leverage which is very risky compared to spot trading.
The difference is if you lose in spot trading you only lose a few percent of your holdings compared to betting where you can lose them all.
You have more chance to make a profit in trading if you have knowledge about trading analysis while gambling is always based on your luck.

And honestly, why did you create this thread which is already being discussed here on the forum here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5406259.0
2595  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Fortunejack scam me 400$ - !!! on: August 25, 2022, 02:29:38 PM
Why don't you try to contact this man https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=303298
He might be able to help you with your case but it seems you actually failed on KYC verification do you have any screenshots that you already fully verified? I can't find it in your provided images above.

Posting more evidence here and reporting it to DTs will help to temporarily put neutral or negative trust in their account here on the forum.
And proof that you own that account. More proof more chance to unblock your account.
2596  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Found my old Bitcoin wallet.dat. Already ran pywallet. What now? on: August 24, 2022, 11:44:08 PM
I tried this . But everytime, on all my computer it says : Segmentation fault
I think I ve got the right password but I can make it work.

thanks for all the answers , very appreciate.

How about this command would you mind trying this one

Code:
python pywallet.py –dumpwallet -datadir="yourpath" > wallet.text --passphrase= PASSPHRASE

The segmentation fault might be because of an incorrect Passphrase/Password would you mind to confirm if the password is correct by using the BTCrecover tool let see if the result will be the same? If the password you put is not correct then the error you get from pywallet is due to an incorrect passphrase/password.
2597  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin Core Client: Error opening block database on: August 24, 2022, 10:46:03 PM
From your old Windows Box would you mind telling us the whole system specs of your unit because the newer Bitcoin core always has bugs on an old version of the OS?
The issue could be your OS, Ram or the HDD you currently using I suggest check the required specs from this link below lower than that will always have bugs.

2598  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: preev.net - what it should have and how it should look? on: August 24, 2022, 05:02:37 PM
It would be much awesome if you add more fiat since all of us are not in the same country and add more crypto just like what others said above I prefer to add LTC, ETH, Doge, and Monero, and a few top 10 coins except for stablecoins and token.

It may look like this

Just a sample but don't edit the design of your website just add more crypto and fiat having more options more people will use your site.
2599  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: m keys, c keys and private keys. on: August 24, 2022, 04:14:31 PM
2022-08-24T13:13:21Z : Error opening block database.
Please restart with -reindex or -reindex-chainstate to recover.

The debug.log already tells you what you need to do use the -reindex while opening Bitcoin core or edit the Bitcoin core shortcut under target add -reindex then apply and then open the Bitcoin core again it should start with -reindex. Look at the image below as a reference where you can put the -reindex.

Or if your purpose is to recover only your BTC you can just use pywallet to make your wallet.dat into the wallet.text in a readable format and get the private key there and import it to another wallet like Electrum then transfer the BTC. Since you already have the password you can decrypt the wallet.dat use the command below with pywallet.

Code:
python pywallet.py --dumpwallet --passphrase=PASSPHRASE > wallet.txt

Make sure you open the command prompt on the same folder where your wallet.dat file is located.
2600  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Clipboard Virus on: August 24, 2022, 05:58:47 AM
Window 10 Pro is what was installed.
No I did not purchase it directly from Microsoft, all my pc softwares and OS are always installer by my pc repairer and this was my first time of experiencing such issue. What I don't know is if he directly got the OS from Microsoft or not. Will have to ask him that tomorrow.

I guess it's not directly from Microsoft most of the Computer/Laptop repair centers here in my country use Windows OS from other sources and use Activator like KMSauto to bypass or to activate the Windows license. Which I think is the reason why the newly installed OS is being infected with the clipboard virus.

Don't follow this man below if you don't protect your PC you are vulnerable to any malware attacks and viruses.

Personally, I wouldn't trust any Anti-Malware or anti-virus. A full reinstall of your OS is what you need to do.

Without them, you are vulnerable to any attacks hacks, viruses, and malware.
