i think he is more the profit than the  prophet

of course the sensible and reasonable people would immediately realise there are no future telling crystal balls

1000000s of people make predictions on things every day... some are going to have a string of correct guesses at some point.

Guys any eta on the new code base? It has been quite some time since we had an eta? I am afraid BEE will get left behind.
Your guess is as good as mine, what do you think of it so far? https://github.com/gjhiggins/been/commits/bee

Bee's been getting around 50% of my available effort overall, 80% recently. Available effort is frequently compromised by local constraints.

I will urge people not to underestimate the effort demanded by this kind of activity:

Start-of-year forward: I am looking at forking PIVX and studying other projects that have successfully and unsuccessfully done so. Of course, a gigantic effort will be needed. The PIVX codebase is very mature and will offer Sterlingcoin users all the features of a state-of-the-art cryptocurrency they may expect in 2018. PoS reward and supply will not change, so long as the community agrees. No ETA or more specifuc details can be given at this time. Many details have to be sorted and much work before more than that can even be said. Of course, this will make for a very exciting 2018 for Sterlingcoin holders. Some work and experimenting has started, but only at a research level. Familiarizing with the code and even some of the functions. I hope to be devoting full-time hours on the task in the very near future. I will report on that.

To be clear, it is not a PIVX "partnership" per se. The PIVX code is open sourced. We are aiming to fork it, modify it to our needs, and then release it under the Sterlingcoin name. It is normal in open sourced software and very normal in cryptocurrency. Of course credit will remain to the many PIVX developers and done with respect to them all. We have been having some of those discussions in our Discord and all are welcome. It is a very pain-staking process. It will require much time and an ETA cannot be given at this time. I apologize, but there are still too many unknowns to do so with any certainty.

I can now generate blocks, so am setting up a small network to check whether staking works.

Cheers

Graham

Thanks for this update graham that is great news that you are still working away on it.

Many do not realise including myself really how much work it is to revamp a coin especially to an up2date codebase.

I think discussion on thread is the best way forward because sending me Pm;s about technical aspects is fruitless since I am not a coder at any level.

I will 100% help beecoin with what i can do which is get people interested in good projects and also try to ensure things are done as fairly as possible along the way.

But technical matters are not something I can make answers on at all.

BTW Graham did you get my PM regarding setting up a foundation BTC address to accumulate BTC for exchange listings and other things where they only accept BTC or fiat like a server and such?

I am quite happy for you to hold the btc community chest. We could start auctioning off bees now to raise some funds for these things. Then the raised BTC you can allocate to what things you think are best after the code base is released.

During this downturn may be the best time to secure some exchange listings even if we dont list it up until the new codebase is ready and tested.

I want to assure everyone I certainly have not abandoned beecoin and i am not ignoring anyone. I am ready to start pitching in as soon as there is something I can actually do. I would like to see many tasks for everyone that they can complete to enhance bee and also get rewarded for their time and effort. That would be the best way forward as far as I am concerned.

just to say... i;m not ignoring any PM's at all its just best and easier to discuss everything on thread.

So yeah thanks for those of you who have offered to build the website or do other work in design or seo.

This is all great and we will certainly do that in the near future.

We just need to finalise some details and the next step is websites and exchanges etc.

I have been looking at a few exchanges and some of those are quite expensive however there are a few more reasonable ones.

It is not a good idea to list beecoin just yet because when we redesign beecoin it may need to be relisted and we will have to pay 2x.

Sometimes it takes quite a while to upgrade a crypto so just a bit more patience and we will hopefully see beecoin rebooted Smiley

As i have said i am not a coin developer myself so any technical questions of a deep level are not best sent to me, post them on the thread.

Good luck enforcing that.

And thank you SINGAPORE for being you.

Is singapore zero tax on crypto? or lower tax?

Zero for individuals.   Zero for businesses not registered in Singapore.   But the real plus is virtually no currency controls.   You can take as much money into SG or out of SG as you want.   The only * is that for cash, you need to declare over 20k SGD, but that is a non issue with crypto as crypto doesn't pass through customs anywhere.
hmmm nice. Wondering how to move to SG right now Smiley

2590  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CRYPTO BULLION (CBX) | Inventor of PoSP! | 2017 Road-Map PUBLISHED! on: January 23, 2018, 03:58:46 AM
I raised the possibility of in the future creating more advanced masternodes that work as standard savings accounts that produce better interest the more cbx you accumulate and the longer you save them for.

this would incentivise accumulation and holding and make people think twice about dumping and churning for short term profits.

We should see those with a long term view those people seem to have a saving mentality not out for the quick buck which can cause instability which hinders cbx or any other crypto being used as a real currency

Yes, the tiered approach with added incentives is a very good one. Essentially this is what we are implementing in our own unique way. One limitation we have in coding and design (actually a huge strength to the coins value) is our hard limit of 2% annual inflation. Due to this parameter, we do not have the luxury of unlimited masternodes or inflation for paying them. This also imposes limits to adding in multiple tiers. The difficulty being, how do you pay each out and make them desirable while working within a 2% annual inflation rate on approximately 1 million coins?

We have devised a 2-tier way to do this with PoSP and BPN (our masternodes).

With our design, PoSP stakers will earn between 3-6% annually while BPN operators will receive a higher reward ranging between 9-18%.

As far as adding in additional incentives for the BPN operators to hold for long term and think twice about dumping, I think our limit of 125 maximum BPN slots fulfills this. If an owner of one of the 125 BPN considers selling, they will have to factor in the queue waiting their turn for one of the limited and fixed number of BPNs. Losing your spot and not being to able to get it back is quite a powerful decision influencer here.

This is actually a great design I had not fully engaged with the notion of a hardcap of 125 BPN's.

The queue system is actually a great plan.

Usually I'm quite lazy on setting up these things but I'll try to be fully awake and ready when vault 3 is released to secure a BPN or 2. 9 to 18 percent has a nice ring to it.
2591  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: south korea not banning crypto but want 24.2 percent tax? on: January 23, 2018, 03:10:33 AM
24% seems a bit steep but in a good way its not being stopped ,  they know how much money they can get out of the crypto currency markets and rather ban it let it carry on with a hefty tax %
High tax rate will reduce investors interest to invest in south korea. It's actually not good for south korea. Australia also did that but the regulations was changed due to the decreasing number of fintech in industries that operate in Australia. Bitcoin is very useful for financial and technology industry so must be treated appropriately.

I guess it is a bit steep but 24% of any profits taken is better than no profits is it not?

Besides that bracket is a high one perhaps no tax on profits to a certain level for individuals.

Most of the comments on cointelegraph demostrate it is bad news.... so did those people not think the ban was for real anyway?

I would have thought if the entire global mantra from govs was 24% on all fiat profits from trading crypto but it is fully legalised would be pretty good news all round and the crypto party is here in full swing...

2592  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: SOUTH KOREA NOT BANNING CRYPTO NOW - but want 24.2 percent tax? on: January 23, 2018, 02:45:38 AM
They did same thing in USA

Trump got rid of the Rule 1030 trade for like rule

So now you trade in any crypto the gains are instantly taxable

So that destroys the exchanges in USA

You make say 100K in btc then trade into bch or whatever

the gain is instantly taxable, even though you saw no fiat

So USA and SK are on same page they want tax income on paper profits

I will never trade one thing inside the usa now

screw trump that jerk

Hold on though this is just on exchange owners profits right? in fiat

Individuals in S Korea we don;t yet know how they will be taxed do we?

Perhaps they will not be expected to pay tax unrealistically on each crypto to crypto trade?

Not sure where they are going with that yet.

2593  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: IOTA - Thousands of Wallets Compromised and Funds Stolen on: January 23, 2018, 02:35:26 AM
I generated my seed using python code myself. But was annoyed that this functionality is not part of the wallet. New wallet should be much better if devs would bother to release it. I'm still holding my IOTA because I invested like 700 bucks in it and still waiting for profit. With all this partnership with VW, Bosch and others it should moon soon, isn't it? If this FUD won't kill it  Grin

vw and bosch used online seed gens Sad

they said fuck this cowboy shit now. We just found out about byteball and raiblocks anyway..... we nearly missed out.
2594  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / SOUTH KOREA BACK IN THE GAME? 24.2% isn't too bad on: January 23, 2018, 02:33:29 AM
Am i reading this correctly and why not posted here before?

Or not as clear as it seems?

https://cointelegraph.com/news/s-korea-to-tax-crypto-exchanges-242-percent-in-line-with-existing-tax-policy

i guess now anon accounts are banned the individual will be taxed as income or cgt

looks like they are back in the game anyway

china next?

better than a blanket ban right ... or not?

Is this not a good thing i see many see it as a negative announcement?

2595  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: south korea not banning crypto but want 24.2 percent tax? on: January 23, 2018, 02:22:22 AM
any truth to this?

seems okay or at least better than a ban?
As far as I know, many South Korean bitcoin holders have held a parade to protest against the government's ban on the bitcoin exchange, which can be regarded as a government concession.

I think it is reasonable and way better than a ban.

I would accept 24 percent tax on profits rather than a ban for sure.

Hopefully china next to follow then we're back off on track again.

2596  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: south korea not banning crypto but want 24.2 percent tax? on: January 23, 2018, 02:15:56 AM
Isn't that a bit too much of tax?
and how would they regulate taxation protocol when holders of crypto transact anonymously?

But yes it is better than totally banning it! However, doing so would have a domino effect on other countries.. and people are used to no regulations with cryptos

but isnt expecting zero tax on any profits unrealistic long term?

also i just read this is on exchange owners only not individuals i guess they will pay as regular income tax or capital gains tax

I would expect they could get into a large legal battle over this if any staff wanted to take it further.

This is a wonderful project with a strong team of managers! I want to have in your portfolio a few coins BEE, but I'm a crypto-newbie, and I have no bitcoin or more etherium to buy Beecoin

Don't worry beecoin will have other ways to find itself inside yours and others portfolios. Micro task and a beelievers wage packet each week would be the way I would like to see beecoin go in future.
