sadly another dead project

i'm shocked this escaped the cryptopia  purge

shame because it has been through a lot to survive now

1623  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think that STABLECOINS are needed in the future of crypto payments? on: October 12, 2018, 10:12:22 AM
The mere fact this thread has still not incorporated bitbay is strange

It is clearly the best of the stable coins it's rolling democratic fully transparent and decentralised approach  is in the true spirit of crypto currency

I suggested this early on in this thread.

1624  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How do you know a shitty ICO on: October 12, 2018, 10:06:43 AM
Mostly I judge them by the team,  come on check this forum and see a lot of icos company looking for partners to work for free for them in order to collect a coin which the future is not even certain. If you don't have money to pay a developer,  whitepaper writer etc. How on earth will you f*cking get money for promotion.   Huh Huh

ALL of them -

POW is the only way to start a trustless CC

Perhaps ones that have been around for many years and still going strong could be safe
1625  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LET US- LIST - some old established projects where the dev team is highly active on: October 11, 2018, 04:51:48 PM
obvious answer is obvious: litecoin

it has been around nearly as long as bitcoin and the developers team, specifically Charlie Lee has been active ever since. granted most of it is copying code from bitcoin but still active.
here is the dev profile: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=20651

there are more coins but i haven't really checked them out regarding their developing status and activity. i mostly am involved in trading them Tongue
example: Namecoin, Peercoin, Reddcoin, Bytecoin,... or big names such as Monero

litecoin - yes of course -

are the others still being actively developed by the original teams too?
Not sure about that but it seems still developer by the profesional team
https://globalcoinreport.com/is-charlie-lee-leaving-litecoin-ltc-for-the-sake-of-decentralization/

Bytecoin should not be included because the latest news from binance has proven it if that coin is not having a lot of credibility right now.

thanks that is interesting

I think coblee will always be with ltc but sold (apparently sold) his stash so his twitter and other announcements could not be perceived as gaming the market. However all devs teams actually have that same power.

There were rumours he sold most of his stash to his brother anyway
1626  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who is the rich bitcoinist? on: October 11, 2018, 04:35:27 PM
If you exclude satoshi

then I have heard the person Mpax touted as the largest holder of bitcoin

who can know for sure but I see a couple of legends have discussed him having in the 500k range of btc

R.I.P
2014 -2017

The fact that Cryptopia wants to delist PHS doesn't mean it's dead, long live PHS!

I wonder if palm detroit could have a word with cryptopia because I have no idea why they would delist this ancient but always fully secure and operation project.

Many people stake this due to the high rewards so I am not sure how they think this is insecure.
1628  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BitBay OFFICIAL BITBAY Thread Smart Contracts Decentralized Markets Rolling Peg on: October 11, 2018, 03:24:52 PM
If you haven't already seen this then have a look at the new stablecoin research one of our writers has done:

https://twitter.com/BitBayofficial/status/1050301128640991235

 Wink

This bitbay twitter is one of the very BEST i have seen.

Regular updates like clockwork and all actually relevant to bitbay not just some reposts of other junk for filler like most projects twitter accounts.

Also this writer (if the same on that does the articles on the bitbay website) is very good.

I think these almost daily updates and pushes to twitter should be copy and pasted to this thread to keep it current and demonstrating to this community just how much effort and work is going on here behind the scenes.

If nobody has time to do it i will start copy and pasting these interesting articles and updates to this thread.

Of course if the community sees reason for me not to do it or prefers someone else to take care of it then that is fine.

I'll pass on your comments to our writer Cryptohunter Wink We have a small team of very good writers now and some great content is being produced. All those articles that are pushed on our social media accounts are researched and presented by our writers, not the regurgitated rubbish you see on most accounts!

We need a big push with that stablecoin graphic so anything you can do to help would be very much appreciated of course.

Cheers,

Shorn
Project Manager @ BitBay

Yes this content is very professional looking.

I think the best way to give bitbay a real shove is a coordinated community effort to start and maintain a bitbay thread on the main alt forum and make sure it stays on page 1. There are several ways we can do this. I believe at our current cap we can legitimately claim to being the best value project out there bar none.  Always nice to bring in a bunch of challengers to this who will ultimately be compared and crushed next to bitbay current and planned feature list. I think any planned feature list in bitbay's case can be given high credibility unlike 99% of other projects.

I think the best time to do this will be once pegging is done and if david could present a white paper proposal for his plans for scaling because even though work on this has not actually started I know that he has been for quite some time now been evaluating other models and also putting his mind to work on other alternatives too.

A thread at that stage would pretty much cover all bases and put us near the top or at the top in pretty much all areas of interest to investors.

Also some prizes from bringing on to bitbay some current online vendors selling expensive items where customers may feel uncomfortable sending btc and trusting the goods to arrive.

I noticed in another thread somewhere someone was tempted to pick up a hot offer on a 50' yacht for bitcoin but was saying he would be highly stressed until it was delivered since they wanted payment or semi payment up front.  Bitbay - no such worries.

It will be excellent when bitbay takes off and you can just load up with reverse auctions on no emergency things and wait for the competing offers to come rolling in.  I wonder how come ebay stopped those because it really is a huge feature to have.. it can save so much time and effort just to wait for suitable products at suitable prices to come to you.

1629  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptopia shitcoin purge - boom 17 coins gone for good. on: October 11, 2018, 01:39:00 PM
To be fair to cryptopia (whom have been very reliable over the years actually) and very fast to fix most issues.

You will sadly find that many listed by binanace will in time be ever larger btc blackholes than the ones on cryptopia

There are simply only one type of new projects arriving here = shit token icos that 99% of the time have no real talent base other than marketing teams dressing up their failed start ups as crypto projects banking on the crypto fomo bringing them investment that they could not get elsewhere.

All exchanges are only adding new ico project because that is all there is now and these will never be trustless and therefore open to abuse.

But if the POS system is still as it was originally planned then that is an not at all looking like a good thing for small to average eth holders

I liked the older pos systems where everyone with a few tokens/coins had opportunity to stake.

Then again things could have changed since the original pos proposal
1632  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptopia shitcoin purge - boom 17 coins gone for good. on: October 10, 2018, 08:51:36 PM
Binance did same thing for about three coins yesterday or so.

https://support.binance.com/hc/en-us/articles/360017720731

Cryptopia did a cleansing I think Grin. The crypto world is the wild wild west. You wake up one day and investments gone down the drain!

Yep the only winners are the ico teams and the exchanges and the lucky few that time their pump and dumps

Icos extract dumb btc from people they are forced to hand a big chunk to exchanges to get listed then gradually use all the "development funds " before starting a new project under different names or companies

then exchanges delist and it all starts over again.

Nice.

1633  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: How Far are we from the bull run on: October 10, 2018, 08:45:30 PM
Its been about 8 month since we are in bloodbath. market has not shown any signs of recovery till yet. what do you think that what december will bring to us.. ?

there will be no bullrun for 80-90% of alts

all diluted to shit now

a few older solid projects with real use cases will probably get another few bulls before btc encroaches upon their use case

the snake oil crypto 2.0 and 3.0 and 4.0 will fail to improve upon btc when you take the trustless, security, decentralised nature into full consideration.

if you want to gamble on your timing getting in and out of projects with greater long term profit than btc then you better know what you are doing or just hold btc
1634  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Cryptopia shitcoin purge - boom 17 coins gone for good. on: October 10, 2018, 08:39:36 PM
So let's be honest a large % of those were junk.

Not sure about the instant freeze of markets upon announce... is that better than giving people a week of trading grace or greater like bittrex do?

Also I don't see them being replaced with anything other total dogshit ico tokens that will sink to zero within a few months. To be fair that is all there are these days anyway in the way of new "projects"

Better to leave the older POW fairly mined coins on there if possible. They at least are more in the trustless and decentralised spirit.

If you were on holiday for a month you could come back and your shit has been flushed for you.

Good exchange for the most part really but not sure about the instant freeze upon announce though. I like picking up the panic dirt for 1 or 2 sats after a panic delisting and finding another exchange to sell for 20-50 later on.

1635  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LET US- LIST - some old established projects where the dev team is highly active on: October 10, 2018, 08:30:25 PM
Syscoin is the first one that came into mind since it is one of the projects I closely follow but you already listed it. I cannot think of others at the moment but I'll keep an eye on this thread. This should an interesting one, this is probably the thread where we can easily recognize the "old guards"  Grin

It would be an interesting thread for sure but sadly 99% of this board is just bots and people that came after 2017

Let's await and see what happens but really this board is practically unreadable now ..especially this alt main board.

1638  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: October 10, 2018, 03:22:11 PM
when are we relisting the units as mbytes or bytes??

first bit of good news here for some time

this will have a good impact for the next bull run bringing in the next swarms of people that believe cheap random unit size is important and not looking at MC
We aren't. Where is all this FUD coming from? lol - this Pineappleexpress idiot has got you all spreading rumours

FUD?

how can this positive move requested by many in this community be fud?

I (and many, many ,any others) 100% agree with you, its a common request from the community which clearly makes sense to do

For what is worth I am against that TBH, as I was against the change in unit of account from BTC to mBTC, bits or anything else.

There is no sensible argument for not reducing the unit size.

It has been demonstrated time and time again that gbyte resisted major noob investment due to the perceived expense of byteball. I must of seen 100 threads about why people decided on other projects with far larger market caps because they were cheaper and better value based on unit size.  The fact they are misguided did nothing to boost our cap and thus gain far more attention and financial support.

You will not please everybody when you change something like the unit size. There will always be those in favor and against. It will be up to the team to decide what course of action to take based on their analysis and feedback from the community.

There is no need to please everyone especially people that have no real argument for their view. UNLESS they are proven to be huge investors that will be leaving if things change. Even so a poll is the best way forward. ON THIS BOARD so we don't need to sign up to other crap to vote. We are all here lets vote on it here. Problem is now most byteball holders barely check the thread since it is something they probably want to forget they invested in at this point.

This isn't even all tonych's fault. At the start there was a high proportion of people here telling us all that his idea to knowingly give HUGE swathes of this minting to other ICO mangers for free was not an issue.

It is simple - a huge proportion of noobs are under the impression cheap per unit projects are cheaper and better value than high cost per unit projects regardless of cap.

This proportion went elsewhere in the last bull.

However this is not the only issue byteball has by any means. I think the distribution needs to be completed. You can't keep getting investors to invest based on x and then tell them it is now y. It kills trust. YOu need to find a way to make it more decentralised - 1 person controlling every single aspect is not what trustless decentralised projects are aiming for.

Having said all of that I can't stop myself accumulating more each week. Financial madness or a gem just biding it's time. We will see.

why has cryptopia delisted this long standing project that works fine?

I would suggest looking into novaexchange this was very reliable in the past and closed down in the correct way... it is back up now and should be easy to get on
