1781  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrencies’ $600 billion crash hits a new low on: August 09, 2018, 05:52:32 PM
Anyone who thinks even 100B of REAL investment has come into crypto has rocks in their head

Most of the top 20 have huge fake caps.

Wait if new money doesn't come in how can the market cap go up?

Market cap = Suppy of tokens x Price.

How are they faking this?  Very interesting as I know from looking at the trading and situation that something doesn't pass the test.  Interested to hear your thoughts.

If I create a project with a billion tokens and sell a few to my pals back and forth for 10 bucks each on some exchanges the market cap just went up another 10BN

The inception of the ICO just made it all too easy to fake and inflate

No doubt some projects are not totally fake but these inflated caps and talking of 600 billion crash in crypto is laughable

BTC and long period POW issued coins are much harder to give huge inflated and fake caps.

It is all to do with the initial distribution.... the only trustless way to distribute is POW ...once a project has required any period of trust it can never be trustless ever again that applies to all icos

1783  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / 400 BTC to get a listing on binance's new dex ? on: August 09, 2018, 05:15:08 PM

Think I'd rather just go on Komodo or blocknet for free.

1784  Economy / Reputation / Re: Help Sold account and got scammed on: August 09, 2018, 09:57:12 AM
glad you got scammed

I hope all persons selling accounts get scammed

Foul practise ruining the board.

1785  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ultimate Dead for Bitcoin would be a Monetary reform on: August 09, 2018, 09:24:00 AM
not sure why that would make any difference at all

bitcoin would just set a new value in the new USD

or if USD became too unstable and fucked up we would move to EURO markets to trade on

unlikely at this time anyway
1786  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is this a new form of manipulation? on: August 09, 2018, 09:20:04 AM
come on with all the adoption and good/much needed regulations and reasonable taxation bitcoin is gearing up for mainstream

selling now is what they want you to do.

17M coins can only ever exist (4M suspected gone forever)

You have an entire bitcoin now it could be all you need for retirement ... or could go to zero

Is it worth selling for a shitty 6k USD?

Hold and quit worrying or smarter people accumulate as much as you can afford without borrowing.
1787  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Starbucks Plans to Support Bitcoin Payments Later This Year on: August 09, 2018, 09:16:30 AM
Do you think this adoption will increase the value of bitcoin? Does this really have huge impact on the performance of bitcoin in the crypto market?

We don't know if this information is true or it's just a trick to make Starbuck's stock value increase. A lot of companies did this before.

And even if Starbucks support crypto currency, I don't think it'll be bitcoin. It must be a low value and zero transaction fee coin. Though I'm not a big fan of XRP but it's the perfect coin for this.

They will wait for LN to mature first. XRP is dirt
1788  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BitBay OFFICIAL BITBAY Thread Smart Contracts Decentralized Markets Rolling Peg on: August 09, 2018, 08:37:39 AM
When can we expect the web marketplace demo?

I'm not sure how many features users will be able to demo when they release it. However I know they are working as hard as they can and a new dev just came on full time.

this is all great news I feel and I am excited to say the least to be grabbing up more bay in the 300's i didnt see that ever happening actually.

will the peg work with decentralised exchanges like blocknet and komodo or will they need to add in some extra code?

if not is it feasible to make bitbay into a decentralised atomic exchange at least from btc to bay... I know you mentioned something like that before but I didn't actually fully understand it.

what would happen if bittrex will not support the pegging software? I think they will because ignis i heard requires some extra software for them to run it. But if they will not ? what will happen then?

Sorry if this is explained in the white paper I have not had a chance to give that the full attention it requires at the moment.

Yeah those are all options. Actually, even a basic atomic swap from BitBay to BitHalo would be nice enough to do. Komodo and Blocknet or any other change only needs a few modifications. I would have to think about it actually, since they just have to be careful not to send reserve funds to a timelocked account. I'm pretty sure Komodo dev will work with me on that. We want at least a few good central exchanges for the common trader regardless of who takes us. As long as they have a decent reputation and security we should be fine. At first Bittrex was a little bit unsure of why I needed them to have custom code. Now they want me to email a proposal I'm waiting to finish final touches on peg. If we lose them, it's no big deal. That's something we have all the time to do, broker good relationships. At first it concerned me but then later I realized people only need a place to trade with half-way decent volume and there is always new exchanges on the horizon. Besides, they stand to benefit too... even they must be tired of all the volatility. If we even get 1% of Tethers volume they could be raking in millions. It's worth it.

Thanks for the answer david.

I really hope we can keep bittrex/upbit though.  They do have a custom code for ignis so I am sure once they understand why bitbay needs it they will work with us.

Also like you say if we can even grab a bit of tethers volume we will become big news which will inspire more people to want to work with bitbay

I see in the buy/sell forums a lot of people wanting to buy precious metals for crypto - bitbay would be ideal for this.

There are lots of indie metal dealers who would like to find away to take in crypto for their metals and be able to ship it rather than face to face collection. I can see bitbay having many metals markets and dealers.

The biggest market for sure would be US to EU/UK though people could make fortunes by simply offering reselling through bitbay US items from US ebay to EU/UK now that ebay are auto adding huge fees and vat duty.

We just need a couple of big reseller companies to populate bitbay with a ton of US products they would not even have to hold any of these products in stock they can just offer them and then when they get an order they can order it from ebay themselves and reship it out make 10-20% and save the buyer 10-20%.

Once bitbay becomes known as a cheaper alternative to ebay the volume could explode. I guess that is when we will know our tps limits.

Either way its a positive piece.
1790  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: THE ONLY ALTS THAT ARE REAL PROJECTS HERE !!!!---------CURRENT JULY 2018!! POLL! on: August 08, 2018, 03:36:50 PM
It appears the majority of altcoins are dropped by cash stream is streaming in bitcoin on the grounds that individuals feel that they will get another coin for next hardfolk. I traded my everything altcoins to BTC and simply keep Ripple and Ethereum. Smiley

Well that's great news for those that think they know which alts will survive the next culling.
Great to get some of those in the OP for what I consider bargain prices now.
We will see what happens on the next run up.

this thread is a perfect example of a bunch of zero merit accounts repeating nonsense over and over.
Ban the entire lot.
Likely a bot anyway.

Like all these latest and greatest projects they make zero improvements over btc once you factor in all trustless, decentralised and secure considerations.

Stick with btc or gamble your ass away on the sea of diluting latest and greatest blockchain 9.0 dreams

Any update from yobit?
would be nice to get them functional again.

Great vids btw too.

I was able to get the same old response a week ago that it is maintenance and will take some time. Still been messaging them because want that updated. I'm wary of trying to get a money pool together to do a paid update because if you look on twitter teams have allegedly paid and they still haven't updated those coins last time I checked.

Thanks for reply. That is a strange place they have no issue letting you withdraw 10btc at one time but you can't get your cbx out which for most people is of way less value (currently)

It seems they are not short of funds or running a fractional reserve but are just slack as hell

1795  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Price Prediction in upcoming 3 Month? on: July 30, 2018, 05:10:36 PM
Not sure. Who knows what news is coming.

If there is no major news either way in 3 months I think the price will be hovering around 12k.

End of year 15k+

Big good news or big bad news - - all bets off.  1k or 100k

Of course I keep dreaming of waking up to

amazon and ebay/paypal accepting btc - china back all in on btc - etf approved etc,

1796  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How long until Ver buys Bitcoin.org? on: July 30, 2018, 05:01:55 PM
As we know, Cobra owns bitcoin.org. And as we know, Cobra has been showing signs of supporting Bitcoin Cash, aka BCash, lately, as seen on his tweets.

https://twitter.com/cobrabitcoin/status/940720368121188352

And this was tweeted conveniently during the transaction spam clusterfuck.

It's safe to believe that Ver is siphoning some Vermoney to Cobra. The next step is to of course, buy the bitcoin.org domain from Cobra. Cobra is anonymous and we don't really know his financial situation. It may be too tasty for him to pass a couple millions from Ver with no consequences for his reputation. While theymos is also anonymous, at least we know he is loaded and he isn't as easily bribed.

I predict Ver is going to buy bitcoin.org and redirect it to bitcoin.com or just remove anything that isn't BCash's clients in order to pump his altcoin.

The twitter account of Cobra says he is the co-owner of bitcointalk.org as well alongside bitcoin.org. So if you are assuming that Theymos is loaded and can't be easily bribed, the same assumption goes for Cobra as well, since he co-owns the business with Theymos. I doubt Ver has any intention to buy bitcoin.org just as yet because it ain't gonna change the status and reputation of his altcoin in any way.

Cobra's tweets are not clearly signalling towards the BCH support. It's pretty complicated to understand his intention from a single tweet. But from the below tweets it's safe to understand he is heavily into BCH, probably invested or mined!

https://twitter.com/CobraBitcoin/status/1021956578461839366
https://twitter.com/CobraBitcoin/status/1021173825189351425
https://twitter.com/CobraBitcoin/status/1022195056332230662

Things are taking directions but unsure which way it is!
This stresses me a bit but on the other hand I don't believe contact would throw the community into such a commotion. Everyone is able and their choice to have other coins and have fun with them, him being into Bcash is not an issue if he doesn't sabotage Bitcoin.

I think even if he got it he would have to make it 100% clear he was not misleading anyone else that would open him up to financial ruin.

I can't decide on Roger Ver. He's a strange one.
1797  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why wait for the SEC? We are not their puppets on a string. on: July 30, 2018, 04:53:17 PM
Sadly though I agree with you for the most part there is a reasonable argument for having a body to protect innocent investors from investing in what could seem legit viable investment vehicles when they are really manipulated scams.

Reading just a bit of what the commissioner wrote it does seem that the sec are over reaching in their mandate by denying btc this opportunity. I have heard some say that the winklevoss proposal may have a weakness that some other proposals have nulled. So there is good reason to hope for approval.

You will not see any ETF's without SEC approval and many are not confident enough to trust themselves to go direct to btc.

So there is no option but to wait it guess. Nothing stopping anyone investing directly.

I heard (but may not be correct) winklevoss etf was reliant on their exchange alone for defining btc price where as other etfs are going to spread the average from many top btc exchanges. Hence it could be seen as being less easy to manipulate for any one party.
That may or may not be true.

A lot of investors like the supposed extra security of investing through an etf so it could be quite a huge step for btc.
1798  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: "Diversification is for idiots" - Mark Cuban on: July 30, 2018, 04:40:43 PM
Well, it is double-edge sword phrase. mark cuban probably know trusted projects, but i don't have insider information, so i have to diversify my investments.
I can't predict future so I don'tknow which alt will blow market.
What about VC ? venture funds invest in hundreds of projects, majority of them will fail, but some of them will become unicorns and as a result make 100x. This is a point of diversification.

I don't believe he was being serious.
The statement is ludicrous without knowing the specific context
1799  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin forecast: Can Bitcoin price worth more than $100k in 2018? on: July 28, 2018, 07:57:34 PM
That is too much 100K per BTC is so FUD. Anyway we could maybe expect that there will be  market price increase but not that much imagine that the bitcoin market price as f this moment is only more or less 8KUSD compared to 100K USD then that would be almost x12 increase on the currency market price. So i guess it will not happen.

We need more FUDDERS like this.

100k is quite pessimistic though I do agree.
1800  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 500K BITCOINS WALLETs- A Ponzi scheme!! on: July 28, 2018, 02:36:26 PM
#SATOSHI #NAKAMOTO designed the #BITCOIN #PROTOCOL to have a #BLOCK #MINED every 10 minutes.

Since the last halving in 2016 we are getting 12.5 #BTC per block plus the fees that at today's rate its almost nothing.

As an average considering the #PROFITABILITY, the #DIFFICULTY and the #HASHRATE every day 1800 Bitcoins are mined.

If you have the #BIGGEST #MINER in the #WORLD with 5% of the #HASHING #POWER, he will get 5% of those 1800 meaning 90 Bitcoins per day.

At this rate, he can get 2700 Bitcoins in a month or 32,400 Bitcoins in a year, in the last two years before the halving this hipotetical miner could get 64,800 Bitcoins.

BUT, there is a BIG BUT, In order to get those coins, he had to pay for electricity and a lot .. I will discuss that on another post

THIS IS WHY I DO NOT BELIEVE ON THOSE 500K BITCOINS #WALLETS, Unless they bought those coins several years ago then, its a HUGE MAYBE. But most of the time, they pretend to be a "Conglomerate" of Miners with #FRESH #COINS. NO WAY...

Looking forward to your next post with great interest.
