1841  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BitBay OFFICIAL BITBAY Thread Smart Contracts Decentralized Markets Rolling Peg on: July 13, 2018, 05:17:21 PM
Great to see more activity back on this thread.

1842  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: July 13, 2018, 05:05:27 PM
So go from a premine of nominally 1% to 22+% and commit to giving up control of 50% of network control (except probably at least one or two controlled by foundation which is de facto same people running network now). Wow. Such decentralization!

22%?

The breakdown is now as follows:
67,2% Distributed, of which reserved (in % of total supply)
1% Tony (BZUAVP5O4ND6N3PVEUZJOATXFPIKHPDC)
1% First 100M users (TUOMEGAZPYLZQBJKLEM2BGKYR2Q5SEYS)

32,8% Undistributed (MZ4GUQC7WUKZKKLGAS3H3FSDKLHI7HFO), of which reserved (in % of total supply):
20,5% Several distribution methods (cashback, attestation rewards, textcoins, etc.)
11% Foundation funding (spent over 36 months, but hopefully lasts much longer than that)
1,3% Long term motivation plan (we don't want these foundation members to give up)

Decentralization of 11 out of 12 witnesses was always the plan, but it's not as easy as it seems. Neither is mass adoption. To achieve our ambitious goals we need a foundation with enough funding to make it happen. In the article we try to explain our reasoning behind this decision. If you have any questions or other remarks please share them.

You're correct, nominally 12% not 22%, but even so I don't think it's possible to have a legitimate currency where one entity is controlling 10% of the entire supply. This is a major issue for zcash and others, imo, and for a long time even cast a shadow over Bitcoin wrt Satoshi estimated to hold 5% of ultimate supply (though I think it's fairly widely believed that those coins will never move now).

Even 1% as originally proposed is massive. This would be equivalent to someone holding like $50 trillion USD. Five or ten percent or higher is just impossible to be taken seriously as a legitimate worldwide monetary system. I know it might not seem like it based on the mania of last year, but imo there little chance such a centralized system can be seen by most as anything but a money grab or Ponzi.

12% isn't so bad in comparison to 90% of the icos and most of the top 50 in the cmc.
If there is a ledger for full spends and use for development and keeping the dev incentivised that would be okay i think. By the time BB gets any kind of adoption or value then that will be reduced dramatically I would hope to a sensible level.

I think the entire distribution here was a mess so let's just get it over asap and move forward. I would rather they have development funds to keep it all going than lose interest and leave it to die. It is one of the projects with some real development taking place so I'm trying to stay positive about it all.

1843  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Future of bitcoin in Nigeria on: July 12, 2018, 07:25:03 AM
I don't think so. Nigeria uses bitcoin as the mode of payment and they created their own regulations.
Btcnaivie, your moniker says it all. Why proudly display a high level of naivety on a subject you know nothing about? How can you say that Nigeria makes use of bitcoin as a mode of payment? Payment at what shops or for what services? Can you name any? Please, I am a Nigerian and would like to know of any shop in Nigeria that accepts bitcoin for payment. Of course, there are none.

Also, I would like to know a place where I can buy or sell my Bitcoin from any of you here saying bitcoin exists in Nigeria (not on the localbitcoin site). I mean a group on telegram or WhatsApp. I will be waiting. .

Nigerian prince is buying in bulk. You send first I heard.
1844  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin banned in Sri Lanka on: July 12, 2018, 07:17:03 AM
Oh god that is not good. After India now in Sri Lanka also. Sad for cryptocurrencies

Yeah terrible news all that investment and volume lost.
1845  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Verge XVG a Good Investment in 2018? Verge "Partners" w/ Pornhub w/ XVG :O on: July 12, 2018, 06:54:13 AM
No - over valued already for what it offers.

I would say bitbay byteball and pivx are way value from here.........and of course blocknet

of the four you mentioned, which would you prefer and why?

all are below fair value but bitbay is the furthest from fair value; so if I could only have one....
blocknet if they come through fully and get even mild adoption has huge upside
1846  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: How do I find free airdrops? on: July 11, 2018, 10:45:09 PM
There are a lot of airdrops going on that give you free tokens for just leaving your email and ethereum address. OMG, Qtum, Stellar and many more were airdropped for free.

The only website I found is http://airdropalert.com/ and it sucks. Many current airdrops are not being listed.

Does anyone have a better one?

1848  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: THE ONLY ALTS THAT ARE REAL PROJECTS HERE !!!!---------CURRENT JULY 2018!! POLL! on: July 11, 2018, 09:44:23 PM
I think Waves has a great potential of becoming the next big thing. I won't go in all the hussle and point out one thing, go do your own research if you want to read. Make up your own mind

Yes I;ve not really been keeping up with them lately but they are doing well in the poll.
1849  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]CureCoin - CURECOIN TEAM HAS TAKEN RANK 1 ON FOLDING@HOME!!! on: July 11, 2018, 03:37:04 PM
...The dev team here have promised much and delivered nothing...
Not quite nothing, they have made a commandline beta that's broken and took 3 years to make  Roll Eyes
I take back what I said. I just looked and 12 days ago there was a commit that hard-coded an increase in our network usage and back in April there was a commit that will be meaningful 15 months from now.  Roll Eyes

That's sounds like just the work ethic and output rate to make sure curecoin is on page 20 of coinmarketcap in a couple of months.
I think the plan to reduce the value of curecoin to 0 to ensure quantum computers can cause holders no financial damage is what they came up with.

Cured me of 30+BTC and now on the way to quantum proof too....

and some say  dev teams don't come through...

1850  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [11-07-2018] Binance CEO Fires Back at Vitalik Buterin’s “Burn in Hell” Comment on: July 11, 2018, 03:09:01 PM
they need to go

there is no room for centralised anything in an end to end decentralised trustless arena

would help if their sites were secure until we are readly to make the move so we don't get hacks every other week

my money is on blocknet and komodo breaking through here soon
1851  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Bullion (CBX) 'the Digital Precious Metal' | 2018 Roadmap published on: July 09, 2018, 05:24:15 PM
Bullion 2018 Roadmap Update!

After what has been a pretty seamless transition to Vault 3, work for the next step of the project, the BPN masternode Vault 4.0.0 has resumed. Indeed, thanks to Alex4J's and Malafaya's contribution and hard work, migration to Vault 3 is pretty much complete now with the CBX network showing more 3.0.1 nodes than 2.4.4s; and this includes exchanges as well.

We can verify network composition here: https://chainz.cryptoid.info/cbx/#!network.

Chris has posted a new Youtube video which discusses all new and ongoing developments regarding Bullion: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dPm2GTHS2lA&t=4s: upbeat and fun to listen to, I encourage all Bullionaires to come have a look!

Recent milestones are:

1. 1 page promo doc released
2. Bullion had 5th bday
3. 3.0 vault released
4. Cryptopia updated to 3.0
5. CryptoID resyncing
6. White paper for BPN in progress
7. Nova exchange has updated to new name and logo
8. Website updates, added telegram
9. Promotional hats ordered

- and -

10. Coinbook.com update

About the developments regarding Coinbook.com, I invite current Bullionaires and prospective Bullionaires to listen to the radio interview recently posted featuring Calvin Weight, the CEO of the upcoming Coinbook.com: http://kpcw.org/post/mountain-money-july-2-2018-calvin-weight. Coinbook.com is an upcoming US based cryptocurrency exchange with full fiat <--> crypto interchangeability - including Bullion and very few more valuable coins.

Back to coding developments:

As mentioned earlier, the development for the upcoming Vault 4.0.0 is making good progress and we are thoroughly testing the new code while creating it. Proof of that is the first implementation of mutex had to be rewritten as it did not work well - new mutex implementation now is more stable and uses less memory, although block size has increased very slightly.

As we stand now, we are testing this new code for the BPN miner, which will be working side-by-side with the mutex system which in turn will keep track of the placement of each BPN masternode, our unique solution to decentralized queue management. Once we have that part under control, all that will be left to do is create the new UI.

As you all can see, there are many things going on in the Bullion universe; stay informed to follow latest developments here in Bitcointalk and in our Telegram channel (where news are sometimes known to run even faster!)

This is great news indeed.

Once we have the masternodes complete and working perfectly then we can start pushing this as one of the most undervalued projects on here.

Will cbx masternodes enable instasend and higher tps rates?
Do you think we should also enable perhaps a variable block size?
1852  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Nano a good project? on: July 09, 2018, 03:43:07 PM
I think it is quite interesting and yes I would hold a little chunk in my portfolio
1853  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cardano threatens Ethereum! on: July 08, 2018, 03:59:12 PM
Cardano has vision!
Real world applications will use Cardano: FACT
Most of the projects on ETH are dead or were scams!

BUT narrowly distributed icos just like ada could well be classed as manipulated scams?

Most projects on this board could be viewed as scams.

Your posts seem mostly bitcoin bashing for reasons it seems you do not have a deep understanding and pumping already over hyped over priced projects that were too narrowly distributed to really be compared to real decentralised trustless projects.

I would view them with real caution.

1854  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cardano threatens Ethereum! on: July 08, 2018, 03:40:49 PM
No the ico was too centralised and now it can never attain trustless decentralised crypto status.

Also the ada team has nobody of VB like skill so threatening ETH is not at all likely.

ETH were smart having such a large POW phase.

VB said in the past he doesn’t care about the price of ETH. He is also on record as saying that he would walk away from ETH. What can I say: it is not good!

1. those 2 points do not seem realistic in the context of his other million statements and current plans
2. those 2 points do not nullify the points I have made about ada

too centralised of an ico with too narrow distribution = not trustless not decentralised therefore do not really merit comparison.

all icos should really have 50% POW phase at least.

anyway all these platforms are over rated trying to clump everything onto one platform which is fully decentralised is probably not as good as just having many perfectly functioning projects that are also distributed with no single point of failure.

ETH is pretty useful but others are just trying to piggy back on their coat tails with similar functionality and moving the goal posts to less decentralisation/trustless nature and higher tps. It's just a hype tactic.

ETH has a huge first mover advantage and also a hugely skilled team.  Dreaming new projects will (without narrow distribution and manipulation) rival them in terms of MC are simply dreams without something serious going very wrong for eth.

1855  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]CureCoin - CURECOIN TEAM HAS TAKEN RANK 1 ON FOLDING@HOME!!! on: July 08, 2018, 02:03:58 PM
congratz to all who folding and keep it alive

CURECOIN TEAM HAS TAKEN RANK 1 ON FOLDING@HOME!!!

That's fantastic news but meanwhile cure coin is basically heading for position 1000 on cmc and getting delisted from bittrex soon.

The dev team here have promised much and delivered nothing. Even the release of the "quantum resistant coin" was a crushing reality check for them it basically lasted 30 seconds before it broke

One person in the dev team has some respectable skill set but really has little interest in the project so it is going nowhere fast... or probably just nowhere but down and out eventually

1859  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: THE ONLY ALTS THAT ARE REAL PROJECTS HERE !!!!---------CURRENT JULY 2018!! POLL! on: July 08, 2018, 01:27:52 PM
Very, very true. There seems to be an influx of bots lately posting crap along the lines of "great project, exceptional team, magical logo/website" Roll Eyes on every single discussion. Like you said, it really drowns out the actual content that's worth reading.

To go back to the original discussion - I wonder if it would be possible for the community managers of these undervalued projects to start new threads on the Altcoin Discussion forum when they come on to share important updates on the ANN pages. For example, when the Byteball Wallet became available on the iOS store, I thought that was pretty significant, since Apple are notoriously strict. This is exciting information - an actual working product, available in the Apple Store. Surely that would generate more interest in the project.  If someone had posted about it on the Altcoin Discussion forum, this would have been seen by a lot more readers than just leaving that info in the ANN page, which is basically only read by those who are already aware of the project.

This for sure is a good idea. The problem is the alt main board moves so fast. I would say even 3 mins later the post is on page 2 and sinking fast.

The problem is too many bots and pumpers posting about the latest icos and the same old questions from noobs over and over.

This is why junior boards are essential really as I have suggested in the meta section.

Main news boards for alts should be prevented from clogging up with this stuff.
