Not for me....

You can get convert BTC to USD and have it in your account in a single day on Just-Dice?
No but you can withdraw it to an exchange & then sell the BTC for USD in a single day.
263  Economy / Gambling / Re: Player wins a 46k Audi on Just-Dice! on: September 18, 2013, 10:38:39 PM
conspiracy theory time: "Doctor Lee" is affiliated with Just-Dice and he's just posting a picture of a random car.
He is hardly the biggest winner. Nakowa (aka celeste, cici and towtoad) won over 5000 BTC from just-dice when it was worth about a $100/BTC.  The reason is the high max bet and 1% edge allow for variance to work in the favor of high roller with a little luck.  Though all those high roller claim to have a system when they are winning:)
264  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: don't mine at BTCGuild on: September 18, 2013, 09:51:09 PM
The hashrate should spread more. Slush, 50BTC, Eligius, EclipseMC, Bitminter are all good and responsible pools

Or use a real decentralized solution like P2Pool. Even if 100% would mine there, the network would be perfectly decentralized.

Really, it saddens me, that despite claiming different, most miners seem to not care about the Network and can't even live with a bit of variance.
Bitcoin is still in its infancy and miners need to take responsibility to help keep the server secure by spreading out the hashrate.
265  Economy / Gambling / Re: Player wins a 46k Audi on Just-Dice! on: September 18, 2013, 09:49:23 PM
Damn! I wish I was lucky enough to even win 0.1 BTC! Wow what a nice amount of winning
Just go there and bet 0.1 BTC on 49.5% odds and you will have a 49.5% chance of winning 0.1 BTC:)
266  Economy / Gambling / Re: Player wins a 46k Audi on Just-Dice! on: September 18, 2013, 09:48:13 PM
Lucky guy. Would've saved the BTC though, their value will probably be on the rise soon...
Gamblers are not know for being rational decision makers;)

ADoctor Lee on Just-Dice.com on 9/16 cashed out some of his winnings and bought himself a 46k Audi.  He came by the site and was showing off pictures to everyone.  Where else can you in a single day win 46k, cash out a couple minutes later and go buy yourself a nice car? These are the pics of the car he bought: http://www.carsguide.com.au/car-gallery/P13388197/1

Seems like cool PR for Bitcoin!  A player (Doctor Lee) on Just-Dice.com, on 9/16 cashed out some of his winnings on Just-Dice and bought himself a 46k Audi.  He came by the site and was showing off pictures to everyone.  Where else can you in a single day win 46k, cash out a couple minutes later and go buy yourself a nice car? 269  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [XPM] Working on a GPU miner for Primecoin, new thread :) on: September 18, 2013, 07:44:41 PM
Abandon Thread!

Consider this thread abandoned! Tongue

It was fun while it lasted.
Maybe we should offer a new bounty, held in escrow, which will be released to a new developer (or team) which can improve this miner so it meets certain pre-set goals in terms of performance and stability. We could even put a reasonable time limit that if the pre-set goals are not met, the bounties are returned to the donators.

I would provide a few coins to such an endeavor - we could use the forum moderator Saltyspoon as the escrow or someone else trusted in the community like John K. or Dooglus to hold the funds.

Or *tinfoil hat on*, FC will stay radio-silent and purposely let the prices get deciminated so he and his buddies in China can by back the shares on the cheap

how low do they want it?
I dunno, ask the chinese mafia....1 Yuan?Wink
271  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER Speculation Thread on: September 18, 2013, 07:24:04 PM
what I'm trying to say is that there is no significant new information and this is a simple irrational panic sell
yeah, I agree.  FC will likely give us an update tomorrow, and the price will bounce up around 2.

I like the idea of achievements, or something next to their name. How about levels? Level 50 could have bet more than 100 bitcoin in 1 bet for example.

A leveling system and different badges for the gamblers, even small timers can become level 1, 2, 3 and get a few badges but the real juice comes at higher levels. (which require more whale like bets)

Hey, you can even offer powerups! Dooglus you know how there is a 3 second delay for 0 btc bets. How about if the person has bet over 30 bitcoin at once enough times they can get a powerup that lets them do 0 btc bets instantly, giving them the ability to do 0's with no penalty.

Smiley

Make the whales feel warm and fuzzy!

Just wanted to throw in my support for achievements. I do think it requires some care, however. The "throw everything in and see what sticks" approach could really turn people off. I would instead try and build in a few well thought out achievement-y features with both badges and real rewards, either monetary or feature-based.
The horde has spoken - we want reserved usernames, acheivements, badges and different color/style fonts of usernames for high rollers.  Dooglus, do your duty and serve the horde.

The case is made to obscure any form of radiation. The artist is actually a physician and is fully aware of that concern. (I specifically asked him about that myself.)

Quite an achievement.  Many industries would be interested in this material.
It called lead.  Not that novel.
274  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which Alt coin will be the 3rd successful coin? on: September 18, 2013, 06:38:45 PM
This coin should be called Cunningham Chain Coin or Bi Twin Coin instead of Primecoin.
It finds chains of prime numbers and helps advance prime number theory and cryptography.  Besides, Primecoin such a snazzy name.

The ridiculous part about Primecoin is that it's built to cripple GPU mining - if somebody launched a similar currency that wasn't restricted it would blow Primecoin away when it comes to advancing prime number theory. Beyond that, dedicated single-purpose machines could leapfrog anything Primecoin has uncovered in a matter of hours. The entire concept is nothing more than a gimmick, in my opinion.

The dev team went out of their way to make Primecoin less efficient.
It was not built to be GPU inefficient.  It just turns out their plenty of prime # code available already optimized for CPUs which they used to make the reference miner.  Making the GPU miner from scratch is difficult.  There is one now actually made by mtrlt but it is inefficient and requires much more optimization.
Why do haters gotta hate?
275  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER Speculation Thread on: September 18, 2013, 06:25:49 PM
did FC change the plans for Gen2 or something?  I don't recall that changing, so why are you guys concerned about it being "late"?

Competition is coming on the scene, sure, but which company has delivered anything, yet?  There will be SIGNIFICANT failures in the race to Gen2, guys.  I'd be surprised is even 1/3 of the proposed "competitors" actually succeed.
Bitfury seems to have already "delivered" to themselves. Bastards mining at 178 TH/s atm: https://ghash.io/
276  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: September 18, 2013, 06:24:13 PM
Unfortunately there is nothing to watch. Ask sums is constantly being push back to 50k. Every time it goes over; market orders fix that. And whenever it goes under... the price recedes back under 140 and they pop up again.

Bid sum is also pretty stable in the 12-14m range. (Last 4 days all about $1.35m, 50k asks)

Something has to give. Unless bitcoin market is going back in to dormancy. Thats not any fun!

If Gox withdrawals arent fixed, price will rocket up. If they are, total collapse.. yeah?

If Gox withdrawals aren't fixed Gox will become irrelevant at some point and Bitstamp will be leading the price. We already see market depth increasing fast at Bitstamp; in just one week bid depth increased from 1.5M to 2.3M. Within 1-2 months from now it will overtake MtGox and these withdrawal problems will no longer distort the market. Only the fiat bag holders on MtGox will keep on insisting that this is a disaster for bitcoin in the hopes of crashing the price so they can buy their way out of Gox.

The other option is that Gox fixes their shit, and in that case coins will flow back to Gox but I don't believe we'll see any kind of crash then either. When too many people expect something you can be pretty sure it won't happen.

I have that line, embroidered and framed, hanging right over my bed.

To many people here expect BTC to be worth thousands.

Emm... What?

That might be a popular opinion on this forum, but it's certainly not mainstream otherwise.
Bitcoin has two distinct methods to raise its BTC/Fiat ratio:
1. Expansion of the Bitcoin protocol as a system of payment
2. Devaluation of Fiat currency by central banks

There is also a bear argument, but being a bull I will not repeat such rubbish!

AM hash rate is either very very low or completely null at the moment. What the heeeeeell is going on?

FC is selling hardware.  More profit on Gen1 can be made by selling it rather than mining.

Afaik FC is not selling the first model of blades, he was never selling used equipement right? So where are they right now instead of mining?

we are still at 45 TH/s as it always was (at least few last weeks). It's just that with lower percentage of the whole network, luck has greater effect.

I don't think AM has managed 45 TH/s this week, or anywhere near.
In that case you'd be wrong.

ASICMiner has found 48 blocks in the past week (from September 11th to September 17th). The network finds around 1008 blocks in a week (a bit more than that before the difficulty was adjusted). 48 of 1008 is 4.76%.

They've found the following blocks:

Gen2 is not expecting to mine significantly before December! That's not "on the horizon"!
I thought it was Nov, but even then, why would you add more of Gen1 to the mining farm, right now when you can sell it for a profit immediately?

Exactly, if you can sell H/W immediately for more BTC than you can mine with it in forever, of course he should sell it.

FC is selling hardware.  More profit on Gen1 can be made by selling it rather than mining.

So where is the profit?

My other question is I always wondered why FC planned to take so long moving from  Gen 1 to Gen 2. He had a massive headstart. Bitcoins in the bank, yet doesn't plan to launch Gen 2 until well after several other players do.

Way to lose competitive advantage ....... hope I'm wrong.

I consider possible that even FC didn't foresee the scale of the boom of competition and increased difficulty, and the ability of new competitors to develop directly Gen2 super quickly. Hope I'm wrong too...

Plus who thought people like cointerra would come on the scene with their serious pedigree.  FC is a mere hobbyist by comparision.
