Amount: 0.02
Collat: This account.
Interest: 10% per day. Which is 0.022 after 1 day.

Escrow is a must! (Unless you are a trusted member in which case I will go first.

redsn0w, monbux, and devthedev are good escrowers.
As mentioned above it would probably not protect the lender if all you have to give is your account as collateral.

Additionally I highly doubt it would be a good idea to use redsn0w as escrow

isn't redsn0w a trusted member? I believe he's currently escrowing the ActionCrypto signature campaign.
He does have positive trust however if you look at his trust ratings then you will see that he has had problems with his escrow service in the past. Someone was able to recover their account while he was holding it as collateral. The borrower could potentially attempt to do the same again.
262  Economy / Lending / Re: [Open] 6.4 BTC loan, collateral/escrow, monthly interest, ~5 months. on: January 25, 2015, 07:32:03 PM

Honeypot...I'm sure you can understand that given the ongoing account challenges you are having with forum mods and Maidak's lack of response, I am going to have to put a hold on this transaction until everything is cleared up and resolved.

Reference link:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=931143.msg10224334#msg10224334

The risk and challenge level parameters of this potential loan have changed significantly given the new and evolving details regarding your account/accounts.  One of the driving forces for approval is the trust rating associated with your Honeypot account...if this account is now banned and/or limited, then a major approval criteria has been eliminated.

Unfortunately, given the change of circumstances, loan underwriting criteria has not been met at this point.  Please do keep me posted should things get resolved, as I would certainly be willing to reevaluate the situation and reconsider a future potential loan, if it could be helpful at some other point in time.  Thank you again for reaching out to me for assistance.
This is probably a good decision. However it you look above you will see that he is somewhat deceitful when describing his collateral and if you look at his trust ratings you will see that most of his trust was gained from an escrow holding collateral for him.
263  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: I am out of the mining game :( on: January 25, 2015, 07:29:25 PM
Just buy the coin directly - it is valued at 480$ USD right now - Calculate what it would cost to earn yourself a BTC (NET) through mining either physical/cloud and quickly understanding that greed has ushered in the era of industrial mining, either we adapt and go with the flow of the ocean... Or we swim into the riptide and drown.

Wow look at this post at the top of the page $480 4 months ago now $240 nearly down 50%. It was hardly worth mining then it definitely isn't now.
Well it depends on if you are able to make the bitcoin that you spend on your miners back, after accounting for electric costs. The price drop of bitcoin has certainly made mining less desirable and as a result less people are now mining (see the drop in hashrate)
264  Other / Meta / Re: Why Did There Use To Be A "Chinese Students" Subforum? on: January 25, 2015, 07:26:13 PM
Both the forum and bitcoin has come a long way in only 4 short years

It's too bad bitcoin is only headed downwards now.
I am not sure about bitcoin, however the massive amounts of drama on the forum are certainly making the forum a less desirable place to be.
265  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: CEX.IO was one of only a few legitimate cloud mining sites on: January 25, 2015, 05:28:17 PM
Cloud mining is simply more profitable for both customer and manufacturer so it's inevitable really and ideally, you should be able to buy and sell your hashing power on the market, so people can get in and out whenever they want without any hassle.

I would dispute this. The manufacturer is going to have to partner with some third party that is not going to want to pay the "retail" price (eg want to get a discount) and the lower sales price is likely going to be less then the difference between the retail price and the cost of selling/shipping retail amounts of miners to retail customers.

For the customer on the other hand, the cloud mining company is going to be able to command a higher price from customers because of less hassle of setting up and maintaining the mining equipment

Check the numbers and you'll see that I'm right. For example, AM made more money from the sale of AMHash contacts than they did from the sale of Prismas while at the same time, customers saved money because they didn't have to pay for shipping or extras.
There are really not any "extras" that people need to pay for. Yes people would need to pay for PSU's however they have residual value and can be easily resold after they are no longer using their miners. AM may have had higher overall revenue from the sale of their contracts however this does not mean they make more on a per unit basis (which is the only way to measure on an apple-to-apples basis).
Also, the manufacturer doesn't have to partner with anyone, but if they do, if would make sense to provide the hardware at cost.
If the manufacturer is providing the hardware at cost then it would be contrary to your above point because they would not be making any money off of the sale.

"I cannot see any way that this is not a scam  Angry"
please explain what you mean by this not just posting to get your count up for the very same thing you are claiming as a scam.

http://www.reddit.com/r/GAWMiners/

ironic no?Smiley

any real questions please ask.
Well your domains have only been registered for ~a month but you are now claiming they are worth tens of thousands of dollars. The reason domains have value is because they have traffic and name recognition. I think it is fair to say the name recognition is not there so the value must be from your traffic. However traffic to faucets is very low quality and you could have potentially purchased traffic to make it look like you are receiving more then you really are.
267  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Payment Processor "EgoPay" Confirms Hack, Insider Suspected on: January 25, 2015, 05:18:42 PM
Wasnt EGOPay a Fiat money transmitter?

I know the BTC community used it but it was all fiat at their end.

So stop blaming BTC FFS
They operated in a similar way that bitpay operates. They receive bitcoin on behalf on merchants then sell it on an exchange (also on behalf of merchants) and forward the merchant the fiat equivalent they received in bitcoin.

What appears to have happened is that someone apparently was able to get people to send bitcoin to addresses that egopay did not have the private keys to, so they never received the bitcoin and cannot sell it for fiat
268  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ross Ulbricht faces a potential life sentence starting tomorrow. on: January 25, 2015, 05:16:30 PM
I find it amazing how quickly we forget in the United States people are innocent until proven guilty of any charge beyond a reasonable doubt.  Hundreds of years ago that system along with others was set up to prevent injustice by the wise men and women who suffered through those difficult times.  They left us some powerful laws to protect our liberty but few even know or care any longer......

--snip--
I too am hoping for his acquittal, however looking at the evidence the government has so far presented against him, paired with my knowledge of Bitcoin, I somewhat doubt that he will be found not guilty.

If no additional evidence will be presented after today (this is not the case) then the burden of proof as beyond a reasonable doubt realistically has been met.

I think the same. He developed the website and the whole network but life sentence or 20 years it's too much...IMO....even 10 years is too much.
Well it appears based on the evidence provided that he may have sold mushrooms in the very beginning of SR1. If this was the case (and can be proven) then he will likely get a lengthy jail sentence as the amount he apparently sold was probably trafficking levels.

If all that can be proven is that he was running Silk Road then the major concern is that he was really nothing more then a forum operator. Although he was marketing his forum to people trading illegal drugs he should not be held responsible for what was sold on it
269  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BurtW arrested on: January 25, 2015, 05:05:04 PM
I'm really very disappointed , he need a very good lawyer .
A lawyer is only going to help him at the margins. If he has in fact broken the law then having a good lawyer is not going to help very much. The way that a good lawyer can help is getting the charges reduced or potentially getting him a lesser sentence.

It is possible that a good lawyer can get evidence thrown out that was obtained illegally however it is fairly rare that this succeeds.
270  Other / Meta / Re: bot made accounts on: January 25, 2015, 05:01:59 PM
I wonder when will they stop, if they ever? It's just boosting member count with no purpose.

There is a captcha to create an account, how do they go over it?

Xrumer and many forum posting bots has built in OCR or Optical Character Recognition which enable the bots to read the captcha.

Can those get around the more sophisticated captchas though? Even I have trouble deciphering them sometimes. Also, what about the ones that ask you to solve a simple puzzle or question?
You would be surprised what bots/computers are capable of. Plus there is mechanical turk that pays humans faucet amounts to complete these kinds of tasks.
271  Other / Meta / Re: Why Did There Use To Be A "Chinese Students" Subforum? on: January 25, 2015, 05:01:45 AM
Nefario taught an english class in china. he had some assignment where he got his students to do something on the forum. That's all I can remember.
It looks like most of the posts are from 2011. It is interesting to see that the forum has gone from being small enough to make a subform for a class or two of students to having millions of posts made every month.

Both the forum and bitcoin has come a long way in only 4 short years

274  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Is blockchain.info wallet safe? on: January 25, 2015, 03:34:38 AM
its been de-listed from the main bitcoin .org site as one of wallets to be used, so im guessing its not safe anymore.
I find it strange that it was delisted from bitcoin.org. I personally would trust amounts on BCI that I would trust on my own computer (eg it should be safe as a hot wallet IMO)
275  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: minering - how is it STILL possible? on: January 25, 2015, 03:32:00 AM
What everyone (except one person) fails to realize in this thread is that different miners will consume different amounts of electricity per TH/s then can do. As a general rule, newer models (based on when they were initially released) tend to be more efficient then older models. Since a cloud mining company would need to be constantly buying newer hardware their average age (and efficiency) of their farm is going to be worse then what you can buy with the latest and greatest
276  Economy / Lending / Re: HACKED DO NOT LEND on: January 25, 2015, 03:22:05 AM
it seems OP is not interested in clearing his neg rep..
This should be obvious. He did not post in over 3 months then made a series of loan requests.

If I had to guess I would say that he was trying to scam for as much as possible then claim "hack" then would try to sell his clean account.
277  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Why I no longer trust Blockchain.info on: January 25, 2015, 03:13:11 AM
Getting my funds back was not easy. I had to provide the support with my personal password used for the blockchain account. Giving up your personal password you have kept securely for years is not easy, especially when you use it for your online bank accounts and on sites like godaddy, paypal, coinpayments, coinbase, gmail..etc. I do have multiple different passwords for less important accounts, and I only use my personal password on websites that I trust.
You should not use the same password on multiple accounts/websites for exactly this reason. It is not unheard of to have your actual password compromised on even a reputable website.

Some websites even use your old passwords as a way to verify your identity when attempting to reset your password
278  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BIT-X.com drops mining fee; ensures profitability! on: January 25, 2015, 03:06:20 AM
How many watts of electricity will 1 TH consume with bit-x's equipment? What do they pay for electricity?
279  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How safe is it to invest in just-dice on: January 25, 2015, 02:49:00 AM
What are other big sites that use BTC that I can invest in?

How about win88.me
I heard some people got some nice profit from that site
There is also bitdice.me however both bitdice.me and win88.me are really too new to be able to safely invest in. They are really only a few months old while JD is several years old and the owner at one point was controlling over $50 million worth of bitcoin
280  Other / Meta / Re: Selling carded/stolen accounts allowed on this forum? on: January 25, 2015, 02:43:41 AM
It's not allowed but merely suspecting without any proof that items are being purchased with fraudulent cards likely isn't enough for us to remove threads.
I say guilty until proven otherwise.

You got really big moral problems. Innocent until proven otherwise.
This is not a court of law. There is not a need to prove someone guilty beyond a reasonable doubt when dealing with rules on an internet forum.

I would not say that a person needs to prove their innocence, however if there is evidence they are selling stolen accounts then such evidence would need to be addressed by the person selling such accounts.
